Brief History:

Two brothers, two Blood Lords and two warring tribes- the Bizon and the Kanza, both people of the north. For generations, the two tribes were one until a set of twins were born, each powerful in their own, but only one able to rule as future Blood Lord. The animosity between them drove the people apart, taking the once strong northern tribe and splitting it in two. Today, though the twins no longer rule their respective tribes, the new blood lords of each- their offspring, continue to fight one another. One doing everything in their power to reunite the tribes and gain control of the other's marked people, while the other resists knowing their cousin was not a wise ruler and treated their non-marked people unfairly.

As winter nears, both tribes are driven from their homes in search of more habitable land. They must migrate south through treacherous land, scorched by relentless aether storms and crawling with thieves and even cannibals.

Terminology:

Dispersed – People who live outside the protection of a tribe.

Aether – Electrified energy that causes incredibly violent storms.

Marked – People who are gifted with a dominant sense.

Markings – Unique tattoos given to those who are marked to identify their Sense.

Audile/Auds – People who have a heightened sense of hearing.

Seer – People who have heightened sense of sight.

Scires – People who have a heightened sense of smell and often taste; extremely rare.

Croven – A cannibal tribe of Outsiders.

Blood Lord – The leader of each of the Outsider tribes.

Still Blue – A fabled place where the skies are free of aether storms.

Hurrying through the crowd, the Blood Lord only stopped once in a while to attend to one of his tribe's needs. They were about to start their move toward the warmer safe house that would keep them warm for the winter.

"Lake!" He stopped when he heard someone call his name. As he turned he smiled.

"Oh hey. Is there something wrong?" The woman that had come up to him seemed like she was almost to the point of tears.

"I can't find my daughter," Lake frowned.

"Go find Kelvin and let him know I'm looking for your daughter," He smiled, "He's in charge of making sure everyone is here. He might know where she wandered off to," The woman nodded and he went the way he came, stopping every so often to make sure he was not needed.

"Lake," He stopped again, this time to the voices of his third in command, "Luuk and Lorna are with Jill. She won't leave her room," Lake frowned. He thought about the little girl's mother, "They should be able to get her to come, but you might want to check on them," Lake nodded.

"We do need to leave soon," He responded, "Thank you Cor," The boy nodded, "Please go see if Kelvin or anyone else needs help," The two split ways, Lake pushing through the crowd again. Once he got out of the room, he breathed the fresher air before heading down the hallway. The nervous chatter of his tribe disappeared as he got closer to the room Jill and her mother had been staying at.

"Jill, it's okay. We'll be back. I promise," Lake stopped in the doorway as he watched Lorna and her brother Luuk comfort the little girl. Her brown eyes glistened with tears. Lorna held her arms out, "Come on Jill. Your mom must be worried," The girl hesitated and glanced at the box next to the foot of the bed.

"What about daddy's stuff?" Lorna turned her head.

"We'll come back once the snow is gone. Where we're going is much warmer," Jill frowned and Lake stepped into the room.

"Hey Jill," She looked up at his voice and the other two looked toward him, "You're mommy has been looking for you. She's very worried. We don't want to leave without you," The girl glanced at them.

"We'll come back?" Lorna smiled.

"Promise," The six year old allowed Lorna to pick her up. Luuk lightly patted Lake on the back.

"How do you think Kelvin is doing?" Lake shrugged.

"His dad has done this before. I'm surprised he didn't step up until now," The four went back to the common room where now all twenty nine tribe members stood. Jill's mother stood near by and Lorna put the girl down so she could go to her mother. Then Kelvin's voice rang over the crowd.

"Listen up!"

"Listen up!" The whispers of the Bozin tribe stopped as they fearfully turned toward their leader, "We are about to leave to get to the southern safety home before the Kanza. If they make it there, then there is no way we all survive winter," Gabriel crossed his arms as he focused on the couple whispers scattered through the crowd, "Everyone make sure they have everything they need. We are not coming back for a while," He climbed off the stage in their common room with his second and third in command right behind. Gabriel rubbed his eyes and then turned to the two behind him, "Everyone here?" His third in command, Finn, glanced around the room.

"I count about forty," He responded. Then he frowned, "Wait, thirty nine. We're missing Bjord," Gabriel frowned.

"Where did she go?" He questioned and sighed, "She's such a pain. Let's get everyone moving," The three spilt apart, going to do their separate jobs. As Gabriel pushed through his crowd, a girl joined him.

"Bro, we don't have enough supplies to get us all there," She spoke, "Are you sure we should leave now? Our next ship-" He stopped and glared at her.

"Ash," He glared, "We'll be fine," Nervous whispers rose up around them. Gabriel rolled his eyes, "Stay with the group Ash. I'll take care of you," He left her there to help Finn and Louis get everyone going. Gabriel glanced back at Lisa only once.

Bjorg pants, her lungs burning as her feet whisper across the forests rugged terrain, running away from her tribe, her family, likely submitting herself to dispersment. There was no way Gabriel would allow her back after this, but if all worked out like she hoped she wouldn't have to worry about Gabriel anymore. Her only fear is that he would take out his anger on her family- if they survived the trek to the southern oasis. Five people had been lost last winter, because of his carelessness, two of them children.

Giving her head a quick shake, Bjorg pumps her arms, willing her legs to go faster. At this point she isn't worried about leaving a trail for anyone to follow- she doubted they would. She only needed to get out of range. As she runs her pack bumps against her back, filled with nothing but essentials. There are things she wished she could have brought with her, but sentiments weren't going to help her survive. She tips her head back quickly, glancing through the shivering treetops to the sky, where the ever present aether churns in the atmosphere. The sky was calm today, a small relief for her own sake but also for her tribe.

Swearing softly she stumbles over a tree root, nearly falling face first into the muddy earth. The last thing she needed was a twisted ankle before she even makes it half way to Kanza land. As long as she kept moving she would be able to make it there well before nightfall, although it was possible they too would be leaving their northern lands for the winter. The possibility only puts a slight wrinkle in her plan- with that many people moving through the woods, they'd be easy to track in any case.

Bjorg releases a long breath, allowing herself to slow down when she reaches the small creek that signified the extent to which any other Aud's could hear her or a Scire may smell her. She gulps down mouthfuls of air, crouching a moment by the trickling water to refill her water canteen. Her own dominant sense was attuned to the sounds around her, listening for anything or anyone that may mean her harm. She'd been on her own many times before, in the woods- she found it to be more comfortable and preferable than being around other people. Although she knew of the dangers it possessed, because of which she would always need to be on alert. Absently her hand falls to the handle of her long knife, currently strapped to her hip. Alright, time to move. Stashing her water canteen back away, she crosses the creek, taking care upon reaching the bank to conceal her tracks before once again breaking into a slow jog and racing through the trees.

Lake glanced around the commonroom for the last time. He sighed as Luuk came back in.

"Okay we can go," Lake nodded and the two opened the door and walked into the cold air. Lake noticed that it had begun to snow again; this would make their trip even harder, especially if they ran into the Bizons. They jogged to catch up to the tribe that hadn't gotten far. They were in close groups, trying to keep the little bit of warmth they had. Lake ran up to catch up with Kelvin, who seemed to be distracted up front.

"Anything wrong?" Lake questioned.

"Not sure," Kelvin responded, "I thought I heard something, but I could be wrong," Lake nervously smiled.

"Maybe you just didn't get enough sleep," Kelvin nodded.

"Maybe," The conversation dropped and Lake listened as his people walked toward safety.

Gabriel ran ahead of his tribe, trying to clear his mind. The trio to the southern safe area always was the best time for him to think. Bjorn had left; another person in his tribe. It angered him. She must have taken part of their supplies. To him she would be the reason someone would not survive. They had just enough to get them there. Now they didn't have as much. Gabriel slowed so they could catch up. He turned and watched his tribe walk the hill. He frowned at their slow speed.

A while back she'd decided to veer south, figuring whether the tribe had already left or not she'd be able to get ahead of them this way. Crouching down amongst a cluster of trees, she breathes softly, sipping the cold water from her canteen. Bjorg's gaze flickers toward the horizon, the sun not much more than a sliver peeking out from behind the snow capped mountains. Chewing on her bottom lip she adjusts her fur-lined jacket, pulling up her hood to keep out the cold. The temperature was dropping fast as snow clouds gathered in the sky, rolling amongst the aether. It was lovely, if not for the tiny flecks of snow that began falling to the earth. Even pretty things could be deadly.

Bjorg presses her lips together, the cold wind stinging her face as she leaves her cluster of tree's, needing to move up wind. Then at least she wouldn't have to worry about any scires, unless they were particularly powerful, as she waited for the tribe to catch up. A part of her worrie that they wouldn't come this way, that she'd completely miss them and have to spend who knows how long tracking them. Bjorg shakes her head, finding a spot sheltered from the wind and most of the snow flurries where she would wait. They would come this way and even if they didn't, she hadn't planned on walking up and joining their tribe right away either, she wanted to watch, get a feel for their leader. See if they were at all trustworthy.

Hours pass as she sits there, making her quivering muscles still so as not to make any unnessasary noise. She longed to make a fire, but the smoke could draw unwanted attention. Bjorg releases a breath, then watches as it crystalizes in the frozen air, puffing away from her in a cloud of fog. She blinks, rubbing her numb hands together before stilling the faint sound of footfalls pricking her ears. Bjorg's head lists to the side, as she listens the sound becoming more fine tuned as she concentrates. It was them it had to be, there were too many for it to be a simple hunting party. She shifts slighlty, her boots quietly disturbing the frozen earth before her heel snaps a twig. Bjorg winces, clenching her jaw to keep from swearing aloud.

An hour or so after the first time, Lake watched as his second in command paused again.

"Heard something again?" Lake questioned and Kelvin nodded.

"Somewhere in the east direction," He responded. Lake nodded.

"I'll take Luuk and Cornelis. If there's someone out there. They should be able to help us find whoever it is," Kelvin nodded.

"Okay that's fine. Cornelis most likely already heard what or who I did," With that, Lake turn and jogged toward the rest of his tribe, smiling at them as he did.

"Lake," He pause when he saw the woman from earlier and Jill, "Thank you for finding my daughter!" Lake smiled at her.

"It's no problem," He responded, "Take care," Lake smiled as he walked off. Soon after, he found Cornelis talking to someone. When Lake came up, the conversation stopped, "Kelvin heard something and I would like for you and Luuk to help me look," Cornelis nodded.

"See you," After finding Luuk, the three split up to look around, making sure that there were no dangers to the tribe.

[sorry it took me so long. D:]
