LORE POST
Labissiere Academy is tucked into the forest covered hills of the Metropolitan area of Rome, Georgia. The campus is hidden in the trees at the foot of the Appalachian mountains. It was voted the prettiest High School campus in the nation, and though that is a subjective thought, between the school's architecture, the layout including a river running through the center of campus, and the mountains itself....it was hard to argue with the award.
Adrian invested 1.3 Billion of his own resources, and with the other investors that pool grew to 6.7 Billion. There was another 400 million kicked in from the taxpayers, but that was directed at infrastructure of Rome considering that there would be a lot of construction workers traveling to and from the school's campus. The trade-off being that there was now a boom in jobs for the small city.
It took two years to get approvals, build, landscape, hire teachers, and get together curriculum. The result was one of the most beautiful schools, high school or otherwise, in the nation.
The large campus is divided in 4 general quadrants. In the Northwest area was the general student residential section buried at the base of the mountains. It included the dorms, a couple of student staffed businesses (shops, restaurants, cafes), a large fitness and wellness center, intramural fields/courts, and a 'park'. In the Northeast was the sports complex, which included a state of the art multi-use stadium that held 85,000 people (and is sometimes used for other events), a multi-use arena, an indoor and outdoor track and field area, an aquatic sports complex, and a baseball and softball field. The south-east quadrant housed staff housing for those who lived on campus along with many of the performing arts studios. Finally in the southwest was the academic buildings.
The quads sat in the center of these quadrants and was set up more like a park. The river flowed through the center of the campus (going from southwest to northeast and through the quads). Security was pretty tight around the area during the school year. There was a wall that surrounded the school that was near impossible for the average person to get over. Interesting enough the wall ended near the base of the mountains, perhaps because the mountains provided a natural barrier.
The dorms were also an interesting case. In one section was general residency, separated between upperclassmen (Juniors + -must be at least 16 by start of school year) and underclassmen (Sophomore and under). The upperclassmen dorms are set up more as apartments, each one containing four bedrooms, their own bathroom, a common area, and a full kitchen. It is co-ed, but each floor is all male, or all female. The underclassmen dorms are a little less spiffy. There are four bedrooms (smaller than the upperclassmen dorms) one shared bathroom, a very small common area, and a community kitchen on each floor. The buildings are also separated as all male, or all female.
Then there was the athlete's dorms and team sports were roomed together, while the more individual sports were randomly grouped together. It is mandatory a student-athlete stay in these dorms to be eligible to participate in their sport. The athlete's dorms are similar to upperclassmen dorms, except the floors are co-ed (the rooms are still all male or all female). The athlete's also had a personal chef and nutritionist available 24/7 and a small cafe area. The athletes are also afforded a recovery center with a licensed masseuse.
The final dorms are affectionately known as 'The Hills' both because they sit in the mountains and also because they're extremely lavish. This houses the rich kids who are not athletes. Their amenities are more akin to a five star hotel and each room is like a personal open loft. It's a large open room with a bathroom, a kitchen, and a balcony. There is a staff on hand that will bring towels, soaps, food, or anything else you'd find available at a hotel. The price tag to stay is so hefty, that it usually covers the operation cost for the dorms along with the salaries of the school's faculty.
Each dorm has a senior as residential advisor and in 'The Hills' the RA is allowed to stay for free. The Hills also has an extra security staff and there sometimes becomes issues between the residents there and the other dorms.
Rumor has it that Adrian Labissiere purposely chose a more closed off campus. The whispers were saying that he could hide what's going on behind the curtains. The students and the pressure were so intense that if someone saw the process, they might not feel the ends justified the means. So the intention, according to rumor, was to only show their success.

GM Post
It was the dog days of summer in Georgia. The high was sitting in the late 90s and the humidity felt like you had an ocean on top of you. It was Thursday of the first week of the school year, the day before the first football game of the year for the reigning 5A state champions. It was also two days before the yearly back to school festival that is put together by the students and staff, along with some alumni.
Almost everyone had their first mandatory weekly group session of the school year, but there were still several who hadn't. It was mere minutes before one such class and one such group.
