The sun has set, marking the end of the day for most, but not all. As night was the perfect time for monsters to come out and strike fear into the hearts of man. But tonight is the time where monsters do not go to terrorize humans, but rather come out to a safe haven where all monsters are safe from humanity. A school for next generation of monsters to finally learn to live a normal life.

As the moon reached it’s peak, a portal opened and a bus came out. “I see this year’s students have arrived. Once the rest of the staff arrives, the barrier shall be put up.” The figure disappeared. “And thus begins the first day of this new year. I hope no one will be late.” The bus door opens as the bell rung, marking the start of a new day.

Sitting on one of the bus seats looked to be.. a cat maybe? It was very large huge floppy ears resembling that one animal form an old meme template in a way but it was quietly snoozing the whole trip thing was no one had actually seen the animal get on the bus it sorta just appeared out of the luggage compartment and took up a seat as if it owned the place when the bell rang and the doors of the bus opened up the cat got up and collapsed into a large glob of gray-black sludge that then took on a humanoid form, that would go grab the suitcase the aforementioned cat hand appeared form, looked like the school had a mimic that was rather liberal with the usage of its abilities of course you'd expect that from teenagers afterall. The mimic in questions name name was Aloren the boy quickly proceeding to the front of the bus to get outside as he hummed cheerful.

The moon shines inside the bus windows albeit moody in lighting. The window outlines a shape of a young lady sitting alone in the front row by the left side, their 'face' looking outward the window. A perfect dark to be greeted within after the portal exit. She was dressed up from shoulder down to her feet to help those visually where is. This was an exciting time for the shadow girl, just across and behind are other monsters just like her, although each more different and unique than the last one. It was refreshing to feel and see other creatures who are rejected by humanity to be on the same bus as schoolmates.

Sitting on her lap is a tote bag designed in violet with hundreds of blue butterflies scattered all over. It was bloated with rather soft items and resting on her brown leathery boots is a dark blue modern design knapsack that appears more lightly packed than the tote bag. Leaning against the bus wall and resting easily on the shadow girl's left shoulder sleeve is a rather tall purple cane umbrella, neatly wrapped around her arm as she hugs the tote bag she carries. Looking across the seats to her right she couldn't help but observe the others from time to time, albeit more discreet.

Moments later, the bus came to a complete halt. Parked right outside the rather beautifully calming appearance of the school before her. The ambiance was lively but as nights go, it was peaceful at the same time. Clair is one of the few to step out of the bus for some fresh nightly breeze, her contrasting sky blue dress brushing gently with the wind. The umbrella served as her walking cane despite having no trouble walking, to begin with. Tote bag on her opposite shoulder and the knapsack on her back. She looked like a bit of a tourist in the eyes of others. Having made it off the bus she didn't hesitate to grab out a paper of sorts from her tote bag, her hands had gloves on, making her hands readable.

  • Casey sat in the back of the bus and spread her legs across the seat to make sure no one sat with her. The moonlight put a sheen on her robotic arm. Her shoulder was there, skin and all, but a couple inches below her right shoulder was a completely metal arm. It was white with gray and black accents. Probably the most unusual thing about her was her arm, given the school she was heading to was for monsters. People like her.

A lion's tail flicked behind her as she fidgeted with metal scraps. Her rounded ears flicked to listen to the hum of the bus's motor. That was the most comforting thing to her, hearing machinery. Spiking above her mass of orange hair were two horns of a reddish color jutting up. She was partially shifted so she could blend in more. She'd been briefed quickly by her parents. They said to look less human as a lot of monsters still feared and hated humans. And she happened to be part human and felt like she belonged with humans more than monsters. But her parents feared she'd be labeled an outcast should her classmates find out about her half human heritage.

Casey looked up from her little gadget, turning to view the others. Some had horns or fur, some were scaly, some looked to be just straight up animals. She took notice of a girl who appeared human except for the fact that she was literally a shadow. A silhouette of a person. It was hard to see but she could make out butterflies on the girl's tote bag. Well, she thought she was a girl based on her more feminine style of clothing. She shrugged and went back to her little project.

The redhead seemed to be able to make anything. And so, she took inspiration from that girl's tote bag and designed a functional butterfly. She admired the gears of her work with a proud expression. Casey unbuckled her bag next to her and produced a phone. She took a quick picture of the mechanical butterfly and opened up her contacts. She went into the conversation with a person named Nancy or Nana as they usually called her. She sent the picture and then texted.

'Made this on the long ride to my crappy new school.'

Casey closed her phone, but before she could test her new invention, she realized the motor stopped. She looked out the window and saw the school. It honestly reminded her of Hogwarts. Maybe she would actually meet a wizard, but she doubted this school would actually be as magical as Hogwarts.

As she grabbed her stuff and stood on the line to get out of the bus, she found her hands drumming on the butterfly. She guessed it was a nervous compulsion, or maybe she was just subconsciously making sure her other arm worked fine. Whatever it was she couldn't wait to just get the day, well night, over with.

Casey jumped off the last step, losing balance and almost tripping. The only upside about this school was that her parents weren't here to nag her. Don't run, don't get your arm wet (that one was pretty useful, though it's not like she planned on going near water anytime soon), don't push yourself, stop trying to do gymnastics stunts at school. Seriously it got so annoying. She knew they meant well, what with her Muscular Dystrophy, but she was always told she couldn't do things. Hopefully here would be different. If no one found out, then she wouldn't be looked down on.

She stepped off to the side as the others piled out and flipped on the butterfly. She released it into the sky like you would a bird and watched the metallic wings flutter to the moon until it was engulfed in its red light.

In a bus >> Lumen’s School for Monsters

A girl of a purple and blue hue sat in the middle of the bus, her head on a pillow leaning towards the window. Her name is Kisora. She wasn't alone in the seat, for another was sitting beside her (someone can choose to put their character here). However it didn't seem to bother her as the girl was soundly asleep and had been that way for most of the ride. She wasn't dreaming however, Kisora does not dream. Instead she sees the dreams of others and eats the nightmares for them. It's not just human dreams she eats either.

As they were nearing a portal, Kisora shifted into wakefulness, her eyes fluttering open. She took her dark blue pillow off of the window and set it into her lap, then placed her hands gently onto the pillow. Kisora wasn't too happy that this new school operated at night hours because that is usually when she sleeps, or rather, feeds. She must be asleep in order to feed off of dreams because going into dreams requires her to be out of her body. It's similar to astral projection in some ways. Needless to say, she had to basically turn her feeding schedule around. It's not impossible since time zones exist, and people will also be asleep on the other side of the world when it is day time in Kisora's current area, but it's annoying to have to completely flip flop.

Kisora let out a soft sigh once the bus had stopped in front of the school. She gathered her pillow and a black backpack decorated with aqua and yellow stars, mimicking the night sky, and braced herself to step out of the bus. Kisora patiently waited for the student next to her on the bus seat to depart before doing so herself. She stepped off the bus with a slight hop to the ground which caused her aqua blue dress to flutter around at the bottom. Kisora then placed her pillow in between her legs briefly to whip her backpack around her back and fasten it to herself. Then she took her pillow and hugged it in front of herself loosely. She stepped to the side after adjusting her items to let the other students off the bus that were behind her. Then she brought her head up to look at the very full and bright moon in the sky, her starlike freckles on her skin glistened from the reflection of the moonlight. Unlike human freckles, hers are similar to a slightly glittered surface.

Kisora thought to herself, I wonder what types of friends I will meet here... She then turned her head back to it's normal position and began to observe the school from where she stood. She then took a moment to look around at the others in the area. She saw an interesting void of a person in the shape of a girl judging from the outfit choice. Kisora also saw an animal like female student with reddish hair and another interesting one, it at first looked like a cat but then shifted into a humanlike form, boyish in appearance. Kisora didn't see any faculty besides the one who drove the bus, so she wasn't sure if it was time to go through the gates yet or not.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. The Sun is setting in exactly four minutes, fifty three seconds. The young man sits in his magician's suit, his top hat and monocle perched upon his head. He hasn't moved at all the entire trip, being more akin to a statue than anything else. He doesn't need to move. He can just, listen. Every single person, monster, whatever- They were things he had no context for. No conception of. Women with snakes for hair, ghostly wraiths, living shadows! He could only wonder why humanity had ever bothered to hunt such beings when they were so much more interesting to observe. Then again, humanity was its own oddity in and of itself. Always a little mad.

For the monsters around him, he certainly appears like an ordinary human, save for his mannerisms giving the distinct sense of being deeply, truly alien. Not just in the sense of having bestial instincts, like perhaps a werewolf would. Not in the sense of having urges, like a vampire. Not even like the stoney lack of expression in a Gargoyle. No, everything is a... specimen to him. Like a piece of art in a gallery, and he's simply there to... survey everything. Weighing them on an invisible scale.

It, frankly, gave a lot of them the creeps.

The seconds tick by. The sun sets. The portal opens. He can feel the transition between places, the way you can feel the wind in your hair or sunlight on your skin. The rift in space. He feels the touch and the gaze of his father grow a little closer, and for the first time in the entire trip he shows a spark of truly genuine emotion, surprising the monsters he looks back out through the windows as they cross the portal. He grins, as if sharing an inside joke, before they are through and the portal closes. The grin stays on his face as the students shuffle off, David walking out and looking upon the castle with a sparkle of interest in his eyes.

So this was the world that Monsters built for themselves. What fun. What fun indeed.

Cassandra Cobbs

If there was one thing that Cassie hated, and hate is a rather strong word for her, it's being forced to sit still for long periods of time. Especially with strangers in a tin can speeding towards god knows where. Her father signed her up to go to some middle-of-nowhere school for "Your own good" as he put it. He specifically made sure not to explain shit to her. Nothing. Not where she was going, why she was going, or what the fuck a changeling was, just that this school was "for kids just like you." Honestly, she figured she was being sent to juvie for smoking during a lunch period at school, but this was nothing like she imagined at all.

She sat at the back of the bus so she didn't have to talk to the cosplayers that seemed to fill the seats ahead of her, because that's exactly what they were, obviously. Fashionable fake metal arm prosthetic, vantablack bodysuit, and fully dressed magician to name a few. She thought that if this was juvie, this must've been a detention center for massive nerds, nobody walks around with a full ass suit and top hat for fun unless they're trying to evoke some sort of character, and wearing a bodysuit for any longer than four or five hours was difficult for her, especially if she's just going to be sitting on a bus seat for a while.

Nevertheless, if it was a cosplay event she was heading to, at least she'd kinda fit in. A few weeks beforehand, she learned that she could manipulate her skin and her body somewhat, after accidentally bleaching herself. She learned a little more after the fact with the aid of sharpies, but being stark red was less aesthetic than paper white. However, none of this was really of concern for her. After an accident involving coffee, she had also learned that her flesh was malleable, in a certain way. She practiced spinning the features of her face like a whirlpool all week last week just for fun, and before that, adding extra fingers to her hands, then feet, then her sides, like she was a human millipede. If she was heading to some weirdo correctional facility, she'd be sure that if push came to shove, she'd be a pain in the ass of anyone that said she was less than perfect.

As she sat in the back of the bus, her travel-stamped suitcase pushing her into the window, nearly incomprehensible metal music blasting, the scenery she was getting to know was swallowed by darkness, and it was like she was on the set of the original Dracula horror movie, menacing castle and all. The bus stopped, and everyone seemed to pile out like that's what they were supposed to do, no hesitation. She unstuck her cheek from the window, and rolled her suitcase behind everyone else, groaning at all the time being wasted from people practically standing just outside the doors after getting off.

Stepping out into the night sky, she let the cool breeze wash over her as she dragged her suitcase towards the gates. If it weren't for her paper-white skin and hair, she would've melted right into the darkness with her mostly black clothing, asides from the distinctly eye catching burning skull graphic pasted on her loose fitting sweater and the rips showing her skin through her black jeans.

She stopped and couldn't help but feel overwhelmed at the immensity of the fortress as she stared into the horizon at it, then she looked back to the other inmates that got dragged along on this journey as well. Her shock and disbelief at their reality came out in a single loudly spoken utterance as she pointed at the citadel in the distance.

"You guys seein' this shit?!"

Casey Matthews

Casey watched the butterfly flitter around. It was a little comforting watching her own machine work. But it also made her slightly homesick. There were so many small inventions back home. So many machines she'd wanted to tinker around with and improve. So many things she'd been excited to show Nana when she'd met up with her for the internship. Now she didn't have that chance, because her parents decided to ship her off to discount Hogwarts.

Speaking of Nana, Casey decided to take another picture to show her friend the thing actually worked as intended. She opened her phone and trained the butterfly, waiting for the chance to pounce. As a half chimera, she had pretty good instincts when 'stalking' something. So good that she ended up getting a pretty decent picture of the mechanical butterfly outlined by the red moon, some of Hotel Transylvania in view.

'Look it even works.' She texted along with the picture.

She put her phone away and stared at the castle of a school. So, this was her new home for a while, huh? Pretty crappy if you asked her. She just hoped they had a fair bit of scrap metal and a robotics department. A scrapyard would do nicely, but she doubted they had that much. That's why she'd stuffed as much as she could in her bag.

Casey glanced over to one of her other, she guessed, classmates who suddenly exclaimed among the jostle of silent kids. Pretty ballsy to be the first one out of these guys to speak. They all seemed to be transfixed with either horror or astonishment. Meanwhile, Casey was unimpressed and wondering about what the fastest way to get expelled from this place was. Maybe if she was fast enough out of here, she could still grab the intern spot.

The girl who exclaimed seemed pretty regular among the monster kids. Regular except for looking like she was albino. And believe her she'd once met an albino kid at the children's hospital she went to. This girl fit the description. Very pale skin, almost white looking. Bleach blonde hair. It made Casey wonder if the girl was actually albino or if it was just some sort of monster quality.

"You mean Discount Hogwarts? Oh yeah. This is gonna be one crappy school year." She responded to the girl's question with hints of bitterness and annoyance in her tone. Casey did not look pleased with her current predicament.

Kisora was initially standing near a fellow with attire akin to a magician, monocle, top hat and all. Quite intriguing. She wondered what type of individual he was. Kisora had seemingly stared at the fellow for what had to have been at least a few minutes, it's a habit she has, staring. Not directly staring, but always out of the corners of her eyes. It typically appears like she isn't staring when she actually is. She likes to call it examining though, Kisora always examines people. She's quite good at deducting how people will act based on their body language and how they present themselves. However, this student seemed to elude her which would pique her interest even further.

Kisora broke out of the staring because she couldn't help but overhear a two female students exclaiming their qualms about the school. Before going over to them she turned her head slightly to look at the top hatted student more directly for a very brief moment, then looked back to the two girls. She then walked over to them and stood there for a moment before tilting her head slightly, a puzzled expression appearing on her face. "Now, why would you say that about this school? It's not a prison. If anything this is most likely the best place you could be learning from right now." Kisora spoke in a very soft and dreamy tone.

Celia Terrakal
It was yet another semester for Celia and she was just as excited to see what colorful beings she would get to know this time around. So many to meet, though it seemed like so little time to find out every nitty gritty detail these whelps had to offer her. What had started out as a hobby, was now just a means to being powerful by knowing the information of those who she was going to be around this semester.

She couldn't exactly get started on the bus ride over due to anyone who were there during previous semesters seemed to avoid her like the plague. So for most the time traveling, she just read on her tablet. She tried to read some celebrity gossip among the Humans, but that had not sated her yearning for a good story. Gossip among monsters were so much more interesting. There was nothing quite like hearing when a ghostly couple finds out that one was the direct cause of the other's death or even something small like a werewolf gives the excuse that they ate their own homework on a full moon night. It was all was so much more entertaining than simple human drama.

When the bus stopped she couldn't help, but get to work on asking around about what their 'stories' were such as what monster classification they were and how they came to be here. She happily slithered to her suitcase and let the end of her tail roll it around as she she took out her handy little notebook with a pen attached to the spiraling wire holding it together and looked around. As she tried to find an interesting individual to question, she felt one the of the red snakes that acted visually as her hair slid along her cheek to politely get her attention. "Hm? You think you found someone Daphne?" Celia, asked addressing them. All of the snaked attached to her had a name so she usually had to point out exactly which one she was talking to. The snake known as Daphne nodded and pointed with it's head in the direction of a young man wearing a top hat and monocle that was just standing along the sidewalk just smiling towards the building. The person looked Human, but she gone here long enough to know that not everything was at they seem initially.

She spoke once again to Daphne, "Are you sure about this? They seem ominous, but pretty normal to me." The snake nodded as the other snakes upon her head chattered amongst themselves hissing and not really paying any attention. "Your gut better be right about this, I've no time for idle chit-chat. I need a real story, I'm not looking for some boring history lesson or an invite to some obscure ritual. Remember what happened last time with the fairy?" Daphne seemed greatly offended and hissed angrily at her. Celia rolled her eyes and scoffed, "okay, okay, no need to be cussing. I'll go."

She set her suitcase down and was about to slither to him, but noticed a girl with long purplish-blue hair was about to speak to him. She noticed that the graceful person decided against it in the last moment before speaking to two other people nearby. She had a certain aura about her that intrigued Celia. "I'll get to her next. Interesting." Celia continued onward with a hand out, hoping that this would snap him out of his trance, "Hello there. I am Celia Terrakal. And you are?"

She couldn't help but point and gawk at the castle in the distance, despite the rather restrained or silently astonished reactions of everyone else that had gotten off the bus. That is, until somebody else spoke up.

"You mean Discount Hogwarts? Oh yeah. This is gonna be one crappy school year." Said the red-head with the funny arm. She seemed disappointed, as if the castle were mundane where she came from, or even too small. Cassie had never seen a castle in her life, been to disneyland, or even went out of country for a vacation, nonetheless out of state. This was as far from home as she's ever been.

"Bruh."

Cassie collected herself. "It's literally a fucking fantasy-ass castle on a hill, the fuck you mean this is gonna be a crappy school year? This place looks bussin' as hell." She spouted, holding herself back from repeating "on god, on god" and pinching her fingers together like an italian godfather. She knew that places like scotland were full of castles, and some of them were remade into commercial areas. Maybe this was just a castle that was turned into a school?

Then, a second person who appeared otherwise unassuming made their presence known by softly questioning the first. "Now, why would you say that about this school? It's not a prison. If anything this is most likely the best place you could be learning from right now." This was also confusing. Cassie wasn't told anything about what this place was to begin with, but it seemed like everyone already knew this was a school of some sort.

"This isn't juvie?" She said aloud. Her eyes scanned this second person up and down. Sleepy was the first word that came to her mind when looking at her, nonthreatening was the second. "Yeah, this ain't juvie." She concluded. "How do you guys know this is a school? Did I skip a seminar or something? What is this place even for?"

Full of questions but expecting no answers, she started to unzip her luggage right then and there, opening it to neatly packed clothes, a small keyboard, and of course, something her dad always made sure she had, cola.

She opened the box and cracked open a warm one, hoping to pass the time faster.

Aolani King

Laying across a whole seat for himself AK rested his eyes for the whole ride more so tired from everybody trying to spend time with him before he left his tribe. He then suddenly awakens from his rest when he felt the magic from the portal transport him to where he then turns his head to look out the window. Meeting his eyes with the huge moon looming over the academy he stares in slight admiration "The moon is smiling hard tonight". Then after seeing everybody start to walk off he started to adjust his large black fur knapsack with about 80 ibs of stuff in it. He looks down and the black tank top, black nike sweats, and all red air force 1s and cringes slightly before shaking it off with a weak smile " I may feel stupid but it seems I blend in somewhat" he talks to himself while thinking of the friend who got him that outift. Finally walking out of the bus though he goes to stand somewhere where he's kind of out the way of everybody else and let's his hair fall over his eyes while kind of just waiting patiently to see where he's supposed to go.

Now that he's actually paying attention now he looks over at his peers and seeing there appearances he's surprised how human they looked but was rather concerned about Mr.Tophat's intentions as the smell he gives off leaves him with a unfamiliar yet unworldly feeling that disturbs him. The others though seemed rather "cool" he cringed at the thought of the word but found no better way to describe them. Watching the 3 peers interact with each other and how one seems to be completely clueless on the current situation she's in. He starts to think of a smart remark until he looks at the girl again and thinks " She was sent here thinking it was some sort of punishment...how unfortunate
" he then pulls out a bag of plain lays and offers some to the pale girl with the coke bottle. He looks at her and cracks a weak smile before saying " It seems you are confused as this is a school for those with a non-human lineage and though I'm not exactly sure why were all here but I hope we can find our reason or resolve here" doing his best not to come off as threating as he noticed how much he hovered over her when he got in front of her.

Casey Matthews

Casey shrugged as the girl responded. "Yeah, sure. Castle on a hill. They got those in Ireland and the Irish don't seem too astonished by them." She gave a smirk at the half joke and then dropped it with her second comment. "I'd just literally rather be anywhere else but here."

Just then another one of their classmates came up to them, asking why they were trashing the school. Well, maybe it was more directed at her then the albino kid next to her. Yup, she was just going with the whole albino thing until she was told otherwise. It's not like that was a bad thing though. She respected that this girl was so outspoken despite seemingly having a skin condition. A lot of kids like Casey tended to develop silent and shy personalities because of their conditions and how they were looked at. Francine was of the soft-spoken type to Casey's brash attitude.

"Best place, huh?"
Casey looked at the castle. "I had a life before all this." She gestured to the castle. "And it was pretty good despite it all. Don't exactly think this is the best place."

Especially if she had ended up having a relapse at this school for people 'like her'. After suffering the loss of her arm, Casey had been doing pretty good. Maybe because her mood improved as well, with Nana taking her under her wing and all. But now with this stupid change in environment, she felt as if it might be possible. She was underweight, and that wasn't a brag either. She wasn't underweight because she kept herself healthy, but because of her condition. Her muscles decreased in mass. Was the school prepared to handle that? Back home she could just easily be sent to the same hospital that had her records since she was born. Those human doctors knew more than the monster nurses at this school certainly did. And there were certain medications she needed to take. The sleepy girl was wrong about this being the best place for her.

Casey looked the new girl up and down, seemingly unimpressed. The bleach blonde was outspoken, which is a quality she could admire. This new girl with her wavy hair and blue outfit didn't look like much to her. She seemed a little out of it too. Like how you felt before you drifted off to sleep. She wasn't threatening at all either.

But what was weirder was Bleach Blonde asked about the school being juvie. Casey cracked a smile at that, something she wasn't expecting. "You think this is juvie? Seriously? Well then this is the nicest juvie center I've ever seen."

Juvie Girl then asked how they knew this was a school and Casey looked at her with a dumbfounded expression on her face. She couldn't tell if this girl was pulling her leg or if she was actually serious. Another one of their classmates ended up approaching them, handing Miss Juvie a lays bag and explaining it pretty nicely. Her tail flicked a couple times as she listened and nodded. "Yup, what the big guy said. Did your parents really not explain it to you? And what kinda shit did you get into to think you were being sent to juvie?"

Casey's eyes switched onto the potato chips briefly, looking like she was a lion on the prowl for a nice antelope snack. Chips would be good. Her eyes trained on them for a minute, her tail swaying and her ears pricked for any sign of danger. For a second there, it looked like she might literally pounce. But this wasn't an African safari. Her eyes detached and switched back to the girl who thought she'd been sent to juvie.

Cassandra Cobbs

"You think this is juvie? Seriously? Well then this is the nicest juvie center I've ever seen." The albino shrugged at the comment. "I've had some friends get shipped off to a desert for trying to kill themselves and were forced to survive, and I've had other friends get sent to a farm for bein' dicks, and were forced to survive. I figured it was my turn on the chopping block after seeing that." She said, jerking her thumb in the direction of the castle. It was true what she said as well, her group shrank from 7 miscreants to 4, so they had to step down their game from drugs and alcohol to smoking and vandalism. She figured her dad sent her on this trip to be a castle maid, and forced to survive.

Thankfully though, things were starting to click for her, sort of, after some big green bear of a cosplayer decided to step into the conversation.

"It seems you are confused as this is a school for those with a non-human lineage, and though I'm not exactly sure why we're all here, I hope we can find our reason or resolve at this place." He said in a low tone. This was mostly lost on her, all she got was the words "non-human" and "resolve" from him, partially because big words were not a part of her dictionary, and she was being offered chips and one of her hands were already full.

Her face scrunched up in confusion as she tried to figure out how to grab a handful of chips so she didn't have to bother him by fishing out an individual chip again and again, despite only having one hand. She could reach in and grab a whole bunch, but then both hands would be full and she wouldn't be able to eat. She could quaff the entirety of the coke, which would defeat it's purpose, or gobble all of the chips she pulled out, which again, would defeat it's purpose.

Then she remembered something about her predicament that made her smile from ear to ear. She pulled up the sleeve of her right arm, the one holding the coke, to expose her shoulder which seemed as if something was boiling the skin. Bubbles began to appear on the surface as a slim protrusion seemed to quickly grow from it, reaching far up over her head, then seemingly thickening and bending towards the middle. A wavy set of five lumps seemed to grow at the very end of it, before fattening and lengthening as her new arm settled into place, a little leaner than her first two, but just as long and as functional. A little tear seemed to roll down her cheek as it began to bend for the first time, her third hand flexing as she mentally got used to the idea of a third arm, before reaching in the bag of chips with her natural left arm for a handful, and feeding herself with the new one she just made.

"Phew." She panted, content with the new development on her body. "Thanks champ, take a coke if you want." Redhead asked her a question, and after taking a sip, she answered.

"Y'know, girl stuff." Cassie said casually. "We sprayed over the windshield of the principal's car with paint, we attracted a bunch of birds to shit on the quarter finals of a football game, started smoking during lunch periods... Y'know, girl stuff. Dad just kinda says that I'm going somewhere a week after the fact, and I figure that I'm being sent to serve time for a while, and here we are." She seemed to think on what she said for a moment, as if forgetting something, then she beamed.

"Oh! Yeah, the name's Cassie by the way." Her third arm wiped the food particles off her fingertips and on to her pants, then extended itself to shake the redhead's hand. She seemed to have a shit-eating grin, full well knowing how uncomfortable it would be to shake her new third arm, with the nonverbal excuse of having her other hands full.

Having been the first off the bus Aloren turned back to observe the others most where fairly run of the mill by the mimics standards.. but then theirs was the shadow person or well shadow girl… Aloren hadn’t actually seen one before least not one he could remember well, in fact the lack of interesting features aside from her outfit given them some definition, was actually the most intriguing part, ignoring the others around him Aloren walked up to Clair, a cheerful grin upon his face, outwardly looking as normal and as human as could be a scar obscuring the lower part of his face tho. ”hey there I’m Aloren, haven’t met a shadow person before nice to meet you, I’m a mimic by the way it’s pretty awsome“ he’d introduce himself happily to the girl tho a bit rushed to the point it might just spook em.

Today was the day. Liza had been looking forward to this day. finally, she gets to go to the school beyond the sands. Getting to the pickup point for her has been a bit of a hassle. Even if they allowed her to leave the sands in goodwill, her people were still going to let any outsiders near their lands. So a rendezvous point was chosen far away from the fertile oasis. A ruin of outsiders perished on the sands long ago. The journey took at least two tendays, or so it felt. Her excitement had her lost track of sun cycles. But that was not important. the important thing was that she made it to the pickup spot in time.

Liza was sitting near the front of the bus. her head bobbing up and down while she stared outside. She expected the bus ride to be more exciting. well seeing all the new places as they passed sure would was awesome, and it was. but sadly she was not prepared for one little thing. her stomach felt woozy for a fair part of the ride. She has never ridden anything in her whole life so to suddenly ride in a vehicle the lizard girl got car sick. Luckily no one should see how pale the girl was looking as she had the hood of her hoodie over her head to hide her face.

The final portal opened up and Liza felt a little bit better when she saw the castle where she will be staying for the foreseeable future. when the bus came to a stop. the lizard girl remained seated a bit longer to wake up from her daze and to process what was going on. Once most of the people were off the bus Liza got out of her seat and exited the bus. The fresh air felt. She took a few deep breaths, feeling nausea lessen with every breath and stretched her arms above her head. "Curses, how do those beyond the sand travel in these things without feeling this curse!! I need to learn that.." she mumbled as she picked up her duffle bag, flung it on her back and stumbled along to stand a bit to the side where she saw more people.

Liza looked up to the moon. it was crimson red and it made her feel slightly uncomfortable. her people were a superstitious kind so seeing the moon painted red like blood was not a good omen in her books. If she remembered it correctly a blood moon predicted a night of bloodshed, being it hunt or war. but that is all nice and stuff. but if the moon was this high in the sky that means it was also relatively late. and thanks to the nausea Liza didn’t have much chance to sleep on the bus. And it was a lot colder than back home. Liza started to feel her eyes drifting close. Then suddenly the girl fell forward onto the ground. "Bless… earth… Not soft… like home… but will do… Time… for… nap… ZZZ" with that said the lizard girl slowly drifted to sleep.

  • Casey watched as the albino pulled up her sleeve. Her skin was bubbling, with was probably not a good thing. But that also begged the question of why exactly it was bubbling, because that was not a normal thing. No one at her hospital, at least no one that she'd heard of, had ever had boiling skin as an issue. That albino kid she'd met when she was way smaller had never had that affliction, so it was obviously not an albino thing. Although it was a skin condition, but she doubted it made skin boil. Which left the only possible reason being a monster thing. Whatever monster lineage she had was able to boil their skin for some strange reason. Unless it was some type of rare skin condition that Casey had never heard of. Her own muscles were basically shrinking so boiling skin didn't seem too out of left field.

Instead of asking if she needed to be taken to this castle's version of an infirmary, Casey simply watched as Cassandra grew a completely new arm as a solution to the chip problem. You wouldn't be wrong to say you saw the hints of jealousy on her expression because they were there. Luckily the two were distracted by the chips so she could let the emotions pass through without it really being a problem. Cassie was growing on her, simply for the amount of balls she seemed to have, and she didn't wanna ruin it with her jealousy. If she had to be stuck here, then maybe she could try to make it not as miserable as she thought it'd be. And she could start by making a friend who she could have actual fun with.

Casey looked down at her metal arm with a bitter expression. Sure, anyone would say it was cool to have a robot arm, but she much preferred the real thing. Anyone would prefer the real one over the fake arm. Seeing this albino girl just grow a new arm out of nowhere just rubbed salt in the wound. She remembered all at once how hard it'd been when she'd first lost it. She'd needed help with a lot more things than she used to. Sure, she'd always been a weak child, but losing an arm progressed that a lot. She became angry all the time and didn't know what to do with that anger, so she usually yelled at her parents. Casey became irritable fast. She'd always felt a little bad for her parents, who were doing their best to deal with her condition, but it's not like she could help it. Back then she was an eight-year-old with one arm, how was she supposed to deal with that at such a young age? Getting to help Nana make an arm kept her busy and made her feel less weak. She could do at least something important. Then Nana surprised her by giving the arm to her. Things became a little better for her, but she still missed the real one. She was envious of Cassie, who could just grow a new arm should she ever lose hers. Casey didn't have that kind of luxury.

She looked away for a moment, trying to find her mechanical butterfly. She wasn't trying to work too hard on it, and kind of forgot to make a controller. But wiring one on that bus would've been a total pain in the ass considering how off road and bumpy the trip was. It was a miracle she'd even made the butterfly with all the gears in the right place. She was just that good. But the controller bit was a problem, considering she couldn't turn it off or land it or anything. It was just gonna fly until it just stopped working or something damaged it. Eh, let the staff deal with that. The only small problem for her was that she'd lost a couple materials, but she'd packed more. And maybe they'd have some here. They had to have a metal working department somewhere. Maybe a shop she could pick up as an extra class, or a club. She really hoped so.

Casey's head snapped back to Cassie as her mind registered the girl was answering her question. She tried to avoid looking at her third arm, both to not pour salt into her wound, and to make sure she didn't get that jealous look again. She was pretty bad at hiding her emotions, her frustration and anger usually bubbling to the surface. And this time she was afraid it'd be jealousy.

Casey nodded at what the girl told her. "Badass. I'd like to get into that kinda girl stuff. Sounds awesome. I mean, it wouldn't be impossible to invent a flock of minion birds to shit all over this fine institution." She grinned and gave a little cackle, her tail giving a few playful flicks at the thought. Wouldn't that be fun? That would definitely make her feel at least a little better about skipping out on the internship.

The albino girl then introduced herself as Cassie and put out her third hand, which Casey had to look at, at this point. Her other two were full, but Casey could tell by her grin that it was all a joke to her. A pretty sick joke, considering Casey displayed her prosthetic out in the open. She didn't try to cover it up or hide it and the metal glinted, reflecting the red light of the moon. Did she really not realize it was a prosthetic? It's not like the thing was hyper realistic or anything. It looked like the metal it was. And Casey really couldn't help that flash of bitterness as she looked down at the extended third arm.

She pushed it down and hoped this wasn't a bully situation. There was always that one kid who didn't think the arm was cool but made fun of her weakness and disability. Cassie seemed pretty cool, but she wasn't afraid to give her a fistful of metal if it turned out she was actually being a dick right now. And she decided to do basically the same thing Cassie was pulling, but instead with her robot arm. She didn't have an excuse for the uncomfortable arm like Cassie, but she really didn't care for excuses. She took up Cassie's extra hand and gave it a shake, giving Cassie the cold, lifeless touch of a prosthetic. "Funny enough, the name's Casey. Pretty similar, huh?"

Despite what was written on the paper, Clair did not walk straight into school grounds just yet, not when distracted by some kind of butterfly robot contraption flying towards the blood moon. She gave a small wave goodbye to the butterfly before leaving her sight.

Hearing a voice so close forced Clair to turn around. Her short dark hair flipped at the sheer speed she turned. Clair obviously has no face but due to human habits, she faced the voice that called to her. It was a slightly tall boy with a friendly smile on his face, introducing himself as Aloren, a mimic monster.

"Clair! I'm Clair!" With great enthusiasm, she exchanged her name with Aloren. Obviously proud of her own name. She grabbed his dominant hand and shook with both of her hands at violent speeds creating rapid waves and one could have sworn she could dislocate his shoulder. There is indeed no temperature radiating from Clair herself, the gloves were slightly cold from the nightly breeze. "A Mi-mee~?" Tilting her head slightly to her left, with a curious tone.

----- 🌠 --- 🌕 --- 💫 -----

In the corner of her view range, she noticed another student on the ground... With a blanket? Is she sleeping? Effortlessly walking silent towards the asleep girl. She really is asleep, She kneels down and up close to their face. Getting a little more curious, she stood up to poke the asleep girl with her umbrella. poking softly in the stomach area twice before missing the third one and accidentally pats their tail, wait a tail? Now the shadow lass rotates to the back of the sleeping girl. Lifting the blanket slightly only to find they do indeed have a tail. What kind of specie was she?

"ooh clair thats a very nice name honestly" Aloren nodded thoughtfully his arm despite its weight intentionally jiggling around like a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man for the joke he'd let his arm mass fall off in the shadow girls hand the weight likely causing her to drop it. aloren giggling like an utter child. "yeah a mimic like that we can copy frankly movie characters tv-show ones too like that one reall tall dude with the horn, oh real people tho you'd be a challenge being a shadow en all as you can see I'm very heavy" he'd explain the dislocated arm slithering back to his body and reconnecting he'd grin.. however, there was also a sleeping girl with a tail.. that caught Alorens interest as well as Clair too. "hu.. interesting.. wonder what they are, also wonder why they are all sleepy" Aloren tap his chin thoughtfully.

Vera Cortez
Vera was hanging back, trying to tell if the girl was ok with their sudden blanket attack or if it made her uncomfortable. She seemed to continue dozing which relieved Vera. He didn't understand how sleeping on the pavement was comfortable, which was quite hypocritical of them considering they were partial to lazing around the grass of meadows and woodlands, studying the animals that went by.

Speaking of animals, a familiar chittering came from his satchel. He shook the bad and whispered. "Shh. You can't come if they find you. Stay quiet."

They weren't really expecting that to work, but the squirrel ceased his chatter. Maybe he just wasn't much of a conversationalist.

Out of the corner of their eye, they saw two people crowding around the lizard girl. He couldn't tell much from the first person, considering she was made of shadow. The strangely 3D silhouette of a young girl. The other guy was a boy, with droopy looking limbs. Vera watched them from their spot a little ways away. He looked shock as the shadow person poked the girl with no form of quilt afterwards. You shouldn't poke bears! Not just because they were dangerous, but because it was extremely rude. That bear never did anything to you! The same applied to the girl. She wasn't causing any trouble, so why would they disturb her?

Vera could feel small sprouts climb through the pavement to greet the rays of the red moon. Signs of his anxiety peeking through as he finally decided to go up to them. He trotted up, his hooves clopping lightly on the stone and his bob tail giving a sort of jingle like he was Rudoph preparing to guide a sleigh. Their voice was kind of squeaking and low, both from their anxiety as well as trying not to wake the girl.
"Um, y-you shouldn't do that. It's quite rude to poke someone who's trying to nap."

Cassandra Cobbs

There were many things Cassie was not good at. Patience was definitely one of those things she was very bad at, as well as listening, and respecting authority. However, picking up on vibes was something that she was very, very good at. Redhead was lost in something, that's for sure. In thought probably, seeing as her face barely hid a seething anger for only a moment, a twitch on the upper lip, an unpleasant thought, and nothing more. Cassie didn't do anything about it though as the redhead commented on how the two of them could mechanically recreate some of the stunts she pulled back on the flipside, before coming to Dracula's School for Troubled Twerps, but part of the fun was the authenticity of hatching a plan that could work with minimal effort and maximum payout. Perhaps she could 'educate' her new friend in the rules of mayhem soon enough.

As she extended her new hand for a shake, she saw that same twitch again, and it was hard to ignore now that she was looking for it. Was it the arm? She figured the response would be disgust if anything. After all, once she learned how to replicate amniotic fluid, it'd open up a whole new world of film-level special effects just waiting to pop from her very skin. Pulling a chestburster would be insane once she figured out how to do it properly. However, the response she got from the redhead wasn't disgust, it was that same flash of anger, but it was only a flash, there, and then gone. Again, Cassie didn't want to sour the mood by mentioning it, but she made a mental note to be a little wary of her, she had some issues.

Finally, their hands touched, and Cassie's eyes widened in surprise as her third arm touched Casey's apparently actual metal arm. It sent a shiver down her arm and directly into her spine, not having expected something like that to even exist. The wiry bony thing seemed frail in the grasp of the prosthetic, but she couldn't help but smile.

"Casey? That's fuckin' wild dude." She couldn't decide whether that Casey was putting on a facade of being her friend, or if she was being genuine, and there was something else probably unrelated to Cassie troubling her. After all, Cassie hadn't done shit so far, so it probably wasn't her. Probably. After a moment of careful consideration, she figured that Casey would probably be fun to hang around.

"I've never been good friends with somebody I met by shaking hands, so c'mere!" She said, pulling Casey into an awkward, most hands being full, hug.

Casey Matthews

Casey watched as the girl's eyes went wide as their hands touched. Now she had more of an understanding on the situation, seeing that shock come from Cassie. That didn't mean she was any less jealous of the girl's ability to grow an entirely new arm, but at least she knew that Cassie wasn't being a jerk. She'd had no idea her metal arm was an actual prosthetic. Which like, hello, it's pretty obvious. It's not like she tried to hide it or anything. She just had to accept that not everyone was going to understand. Her prosthetic was pretty advanced. Definitely looked like white metal with black accents, but still advanced. She didn't think she'd need to actually confirm it was a prosthetic, but it might be hard to believe for some people.

Cassie's new arm looked pretty weak and flimsy in the grasp of her metal one. She couldn't feel anything with it, because there were no nerves to send signals to her brain of how something felt. She could just loosely know when something was touching it. She knew when it was grasping something and when it wasn't, because of its weight and properties. It was a very hard thing for her to explain, but she could see how delicate it was, but also how wiry the newly formed arm appeared to be.

Cassie seemed to agree that their names were pretty ironic. She seemed to be lost in thought after that comment, and Casey waited to see who would let go first like it was a game of chicken. Great, now she wanted chicken. She loved any kind of meat, or food in general.

Cassie said something about never being good friends with someone who she just met by shaking hands and then pulled her into a very awkward hug. Casey kind of just stood there for a moment, extremely surprised. "Yeah, me neither." She said and then gave Cassie a pat with her metal arm, that was kind of like a slap. She realized there was a lot more force in that then intended and switched to her other hand which was way softer with the pats. Her lion tail gave a little swish, almost smacking Cassie's leg as it went by.

It kind of felt like when she first met Francine, except Cassie was the trouble making monster version of her childhood best friend. And she liked it. "So, does that make us friends?" She asked, pink edging her cheeks that almost melted into her mop of orange hair.

Shénmì Vex

The brisk night air was what one could call soothing, calming, or cooling. Sharpening senses with it's chilling breeze, but not so much that it would make teeth chatter. It was the type of night air that would rustle leaves but not the branches, and surely be the herald of the autumn season to come. It was the signal that the school season was just beginning for many students, and as Shen strode through the winding path from the Academy to the gates, his tailcoat jacket seemed to be entirely still, ignorant of the gust of wind that was all around him. The wind did not run it's finger's through Shen's hair, nor play with his neatly tucked laces or slacks. It was as if the wind passed through him, because it did. The Vice Principal had an ethereal glow to his person, an aura of white light that faintly emitted from his silhouette. As the paved path came to a head at the gate, one could even notice that he floated an inch or two off the ground, not quite touching it, but not quite making it apparent that he was simply floating.

"Ah. They've finally arrived." He said to nobody in particular, fishing an ethereal pocket watch from his jacket and checking the time. Late by twelve minutes. An inconvenient amount of time, but not entirely noticeable or fault-worthy, otherwise known as fashionably late. Perfect.

He spun the watch once before slipping it back into his pocket, passing through the large gates without them ever opening. He cleared his throat and thumped his hand to his chest, then began to project his voice across the courtyard this year's students were gathered in.

"Welcome to Nicholas Lumen's Academy for Monsters, Aberrations, and Creatures of the Night. I am your vice principal, Shénmì Vex, but you may refer to me as Professor Vex or Professor V. You will be lead through an orientation and a brief overview of your classes and responsibilities. After the orientation is complete, you will be lead to your rooms, in which you will pair yourselves together." He said, pausing for effect. His eyes scanned over each and every student within the courtyard so far. Creatures of ancient myth, and modern magic. Some conventional, others a far cry from what can be considered normal for their race. All willing to learn under his roof. He smiled to himself, as in his many long years of his existence, there were few things more rewarding than his job.

"We will be walking through the forest trail to the campus grounds. There are a number of protective wards and barriers that you will pass through that some of you may feel more than others. Do not fret, they are simply made to keep out intruders. If you feel any strange sensations such as tingling, chills, burning, being watched, or sharp pain, simply ignore them. They will diminish as quickly as they came." Then, the gates swung open, creaking until they were fully extended. He knew that one of his colleagues was nearby, with the presence of their nephew among the students. He figured they'd probably introduce themselves when the time was right.

"Do any of you have any questions of me before we begin our journey?"

Aolani King
Slightly astonished by the sudden development of the arm but also impressed he gives a quick look of awe and notices the drink she offers him and looks with slight confusion as he recognizes it as a soda can but he’s never actually seen any in person other than Sprite and being told about the other brands. He kindly smiles and waves her offer off as soda was no good in a orcs eyes even if it tastes good. "No thank you” he mutters before leaving the two girls be as he noticed a few students standing around one that seemed to be napping. Out of curiosity he quietly walks up and hovers over the group inspecting the student under the blanket. A sleeping girl it seems from the looks of her exposed tail she was of reptilian heritage and caused a slight smile of familiarity to appear on his face. He recalls playing with many lizard-kin folk as a child in his old village as orcs and other beast like people all had resided in the same areas usually cooperatively coexisting. Snapping back to reality when it seems a member of the staff had projected their voice to greet the new batch of students. The Vice Principle as he introduced himself had striken interest into Aolani as he wondered how he was able to project his voice from such a far distance. Though deciding to just wait to see he looks back at the group and the napping student before crouching over her and saying to the others without even looking “Don’t worry if she’s anything like the people I know simply poking her won’t wake her.” He flashes a warm smile at the others before feeling her tail and her forehead for her temperature. Noticing that she was super cold he sighed deeply out loud and then returned his attention to the students surrounding the girl with him saying “ Excuse my random intrusion I’m not good with new people but my name is Aolani, friends of mine like to call me AK though which I don’t mind.” He didn’t stand up as he notice that he was much taller than most of the students here plus he was convinced that someone was going to have to carry the sleeping student in until she becomes warm enough to function again.

  • Vera flinched as they heard a voice booming from the front gates. Their hooves took a few steps backwards as if they were a horse that had been spooked. They tore their gaze from the three in front of them and looked towards the new voice. A man painted with a white aura emanating around him. His form itself looked human, albeit maybe from an era from the past by the look of his clothes, but he was definitely not a human. Vera could tell. Much like his own lower deer half, this man's glow gave away that he was a monster right away.

Vera initially covered his pointed ears at the sound of the man's voice, deeming it too loud and spooky. He looked like an adult, so he was probably another teacher that Vera would come to know. A second later, Vera took their hands away from their ears as he heard that this man was Shenmi Vex, otherwise known as this school's vice principal. What about the actual head principal? Where was he? He told them about an orientation, and about how afterwards they would be led to their rooms and made to pair off with another student. Vera really hoped his sleeping arrangements lied with their uncle and not the other students. He was getting anxious just thinking about it. The other students already seemed to be making friends, and he didn't want to get stuck with some random student. They didn't really know how to make friends. It was a subject that was all too nerve wracking.

Shenmi Vex told them they'd be walking through the forest trail to get to the campus. There was a brief glimpse of a smile tugging at their worried expression. The forest always calmed them down. It was noisy, but strangely quiet. Peaceful was the word he'd use to describe it. That made him feel a little less anxious, but then Vex completely ruined it by saying the protective wards around the campus could cause numerous strange sensations. They really didn't want to feel like they were on fire and being watched was worse in their opinion. They guessed the other students would feel the same about the sensations.

Then the gates swung open, giving them another fright. His heart felt like it would beat out of his chest at this point. And it almost did as another voice came up behind them. His hooves skittered on the stone, and he had to regain control. Everything at this school seemed scary, especially his fellow classmates. This guy looked huge, and lumbered over the sleeping girl, remarking about how a simple poke wouldn't wake her. He flashed a warm smile towards them, but it made Vera squeak at the teeth protruding from his mouth. He felt bad, but at the same time he wasn't all that hard to spook. Small buds twisted out of the stone beneath his hooves, but they were pretty small.

He felt around for the girl's temperature and then introduced himself as Aolani, but his friends called him AK. Vera started shaking, then tensed back up and found his voice once more. "S-She's cold, isn't she? I tried to help her warm up," He pointed to the blanket on top of her form, "B-But that probably didn't help much. Reptiles are usually cold blooded, so I thought she might be..."

Vera scrapped a hoof on the ground, briefly losing confidence once again. AK was an intimidating guy to talk to. His voice sounded small as he approached an idea. "Should we tell Mr. Vex?"
