Layla was up earlier than usual this morning because she was so excited to go back to school. Lincoln Heights it was called and often referred to the school of stars. Oh, her body was gleaming with excitement. She had her bags packed and had her other necessities ready to go. She was no longer a freshman, thank god. This year, she was a sophomore so she'll be assigned a buddy from the freshman class to guide around the school. She hoped that the female or male was excited as she was, if not, she was going to kicked them to the curb.

Her eyes scanned the door as it opened up, revealing her darling mother behind it. She ran up to her and gave her a tight squeeze before speaking. "Oh, has Freddy left yet?" She questioned towards her mother, who nodded her head. "You know that the seniors have to be there early. For senior stuff, I guess." Her mother shrugged her shoulders and helped Layla by grabbing a few of her bags. Layla grabbed her cell phone, purse, car keys and the rest of the bags and followed her mother down the stairs.

While outside, they stuffed the trunk with her bags then gave each other one last hug before Layla got into the car and was off towards the school. Upon her arrival there, she found a parking space and got out. She would tend to her bags later, she wanted to see if she had any competition this year but even the parking lot was filled with kids singing, dancing and filming. It was laughter all around that morning and she loved every minute of it. She looked up at her eyes locked with this other male across from her as she tucked a few strands of her behind her ear then smiled, offering him a small wave.

Layla then turned heel and walked inside of the school, giving the male one last glance before fully entering the double doors that stood in front of her. "Freddy!" She squealed as she seen her brother down the hall. She ran up to him and gave him a hug. "I'm so excited to be back here." She said but he didn't really have time to talk to her because of his senior stuff. She sat down on one of the benches in the hallway and sighed, thinking to herself.
'What a great year this is going to be?'

Fredrick couldn't help but to leave much earlier than usual to get to Lincoln Heights. He was a senior this year and he had to be there before the school even began, or rather yet opened. When he arrived at the school, he saw some of friends as he joked with them for a few minutes then went on inside to hear this speech for seniors only.

After the speech was over, he walked into the main building, where he saw his little sister, squealing with excitement as she ran up to him and gave him a hug. "I'm excited as well. But hey, sorry that I can't talk now. I'll catch you later though." He spoke towards his sister with a soft sigh as he really did want to talk to her but had other obligations to fulfill. "Oh, I hear we're getting a buddy this year." One of his friends mentioned as Freddy raised a brow. "Really? I hope I don't get a freshman." He laughed after those words and so did his friends. "But I better hold my tongue because I might indeed get one."

Freddy sat down on his bed and rested his hands behind his head, staring up at the ceiling. "It's going to be a great year guys. I can feel it." He spoke towards his friends as they nodded their heads in agreement. "Okay. Let's get off our butts and go see these new recruits, shall we?" One of his friends said as they all jumped up and bombarded through the same door.

Fredrick was ready for this school year to be over and done with - Considering that it was his last and final year at Lincoln Heights.

Janet had been up before dawn, stretching downstairs in the makeshift dance room that had once been her basement. The mirrors lined up entirely across one wall of the tiny room reflected her every action as she practiced her plies, arabesques, chasses and any other solo movements and techniques that she had learned through all of her years of practice and perfection. She was stretching when a rude honk from the street above alerted her about Tim and his car's presence. As she rushed out the door with her bags and a blown kiss, her mother had remarked that she had never seen her only child do anything half so quick.

Lincoln Heights was a massive, intimidating manor that promised stardom and success to all who entered its great halls, whether it be through dance, music, theatre or film and television. Janet's hands were shaking as she stared up at her new academy, books gathered in her arms to try and quell the appearance of her nerves to the other students. She could feel Timothy shaking beside her with laughter as he gazed down at her, watching her uncomfort with undisguised amusement. She looked up to glare at him and he ruffled her hair in response. "You have no need to worry." He told her with a grin. "You're here for a reason. You deserve it. Stop worrying."

"I know... I'm just..." Janet worried at her bottom lip for a moment before she nodded, steeling her nerves for confidence. Tim smiled at her again before walking away across the parking lot where his friends were all waiting at a collection of benches. She watched him leave with slight despair for a moment before she took her own steps forward to explore the school which she would be calling home for the next year. Now that they were at school together, instead of meeting up in the afternoon as friends, Tim didn't have the time for her. To say that she was nervous was an understatement. She just hoped that the other students in her year would stick with her for the day.

She entered through the front doors at the same time as a group of Seniors were passing through to go outside. Just in time, she was able to get out of the way of one with long, brown hair stumbling a little in her hurry. She watched as they passed and then breathed out a sigh of relief that the guy hadn't stopped her on her way. It was always the attractive ones who seemed to be the most aggressive, and at the moment, she was only a little fish in a big pond. Everyone else here were just as talented as she was, and some were even more so.

---

Tim cleared his throat as he approached the grouping of Juniors sitting at the cluster of benches near the edge of the school's parking space, earning an ensuing cheer from the mixture of guys and girls who were all in his year. "We are Juniors, my friends." He said, shaking the large J on his new school jacket. Just because he was at a school to be an actor didn't mean that he couldn't be a jock at the same time. Aside from learning lines, he made it almost his duty to play basketball in the rest of his spare time.

The others who were sitting with him, albeit a rather small group. all had their separate sports they participated in as well. It was more than just staying fit and exercising for them. It was about loving something that would help keep your head on the ground. At the School of Stars, there were too many people who were already letting the fame get to them, and they quickly grew old. "Next year Seniors, and after that we are going to take on the world!"

As he took a seat amongst his friends, he managed to glance over just in time to watch a new car pull into a parking spot and for a strangely familiar person exit a moment later. He frowned, wondering where he had seen her before when he realized she had been a freshman the year previously. The girl was the younger sister of a current Senior and had caused quite a stir when the school found out that she was rather extremely gifted at music. She happened to meet his eye, gave hima small smile and then a shy wave. Tim smiled in return and nodded his head at her. mimicking in a way, how an olden gentleman would have tipped his hat.

She eventually rose up from her seat and walked back to her car, popping the trunk open with a simple click of a button as she grabbed her bags. Layla slung two bags over her shoulders and carried the other two in her hands. She slammed her trunk shut while making her way towards the sophomore building.

As she entered the room, she saw her two best friends, Lindsey and Lisa were already in there, comfortable. "A little help here guys." She squealed towards them as they looked at her, struggling a little bit. "No, it seems to us like you got it." Lisa said as they both turned back around and went to texting on their phones but all of three of them laughed as Lindsey and Lisa got up to help Layla. "Oh, thank god." Layla said upon finally entering the room, fully enough so that she can sit down. "So, have you guys seen anyone hot yet?" Lindsey asked with a squeal.

Lisa shook her head no as Layla shrugged her shoulders while responding. "Not yet." She lied of course. She had to meet the boy that she saw earlier so that they can get to know one another. She eyed Lindsey then raised a brow. "What about you?" Layla asked her as she scoffed. "You guys know that I am with Josh." Lisa and Layla rolled their eyes and laughed. "For the like, hundredth time right?" Lisa asked. Layla got up from her seated position as she went to the bathroom and freshened up.

"Okay, guys. You know we have that first of the day orientation to go to." Layla said upon exiting the bathroom. Lindsey and Lisa nodded as all of three of them walked out of the room, heading towards the auditorium.

Freddy, along with his friends, walked out into the parking lot, which was full of talented people. He stroked his hand through his brown locks of hair. "So much talent out here. I remember these times." He spoke as they walked past people singing and dancing and over towards the actors and actresses. "Hello. Hello." Freddy spoke. "I am Fredrick, along with Daniel and Ronnie. Or you can refer to us as FDR." He winked towards the them. Most of the females, even some of the males melted.

"And we would like to be the first to welcome you guys to Lincoln Heights." Daniel and Ronnie applauded and soon the rest of them joined in. "Now, we know that you guys are timid and shy but this is not the place for it. You've got to literally kill someone to make it here! Understood?!" Everyone nodded their heads then Freddy returned back to his normal tone of voice. "See what I did there?" Ronnie stepped in front of Fredrick and introduced himself, along with Daniel.

"Okay. We wish you guys the best of luck and we'll be waiting for you guys after orientation." He looked down at his watch and widened his eyes then gasped. "Which has started like five minutes ago and you guys are late." They watched as the freshman scatter everywhere like little ants. Daniel and Ronnie laughed, along with Freddy as he turned around. "Man, I love messing with the freshman." He said as they walked back into their building and into their room.

Janet couldn't help a small, proud smile as she walked through the halls of Lincoln Heights, admiring the varied talents that were evident within the hundreds of extraordinary students all around them. One Senior was sobbing in a corner at one moment and then jumping with laughter the next as another person read out a few, choice lines, helping him to prepare for an upcoming audition. In an empty classroom to her left, a group of Sophomores were running through a hip hop routine and moving in perfect unison, provoking a sense of excitement within Janet. Dance. It was her passion and she happened to be good at it. If that was all it took to get her to the top, well she had the whole package. This school was going to teach her everything that she could possibly want to know about the specifics of ballet, and she had worked hard to get there.

Auditions were incredibly selective. Not as serious as NIDA in Australia - which only accepts 24 students each year - it was still extremely difficult. Thousands of young persons skilled in the creative and artistic talents across the nation and the world would audition every year to be chosen. Going to the School of Stars was almost a promise that you would achieve every single dream you could ever wish. With a 100 percent employment rate after leaving the school, some of the absolute best dancers, actors and musicians had attended this school. Those who wanted to follow in their footsteps would apply. At first, her audition had been simply on a dare. Timothy, who had made it through two years before her, dared her because he was convinced that she had exactly the right stuff to make it through. She had agreed for a free tub of ice-cream, made it to a dance hall, put a number sticker atop her clothing and danced out her heart. Luckily, she made it through the first rounds.

The six thousand auditions that year were reduced to simply a thousand. Call backs, as they were titled. She was placed in another group, taught a routine fifteen minutes before and then sent in to be judged. Once again, she made it. Six more auditions passed before she was placed in the final stage. Single auditions in front of the principal of the school and the main dance teachers. Janet had been so nervous that she almost wet herself just waiting for her name to be called. She remembered Timothy had told her about a story of a girl who had actually pooped herself when she went out there to perform. It didn't exactly inspire much confidence within her. Three months later, she received a call and suddenly, she was attending a new school. That night, Timothy bought them both a twenty liter tub of ice-cream. She almost finished the entire thing and was forced to run and exercise excessively for the next couple of months.

A couple of girls quickly jogged past her, chatting excitedly about their first day at the school and about getting to the auditorium on time. Realizing that they were most probably in her year, Janet eagerly followed after them. Thankfully there were no wrong turns and they made it there to see a sea of young, nervous recruits milling around and chatting to each other. Her stomach was buzzing with butterflies, but with a step that she felt took almost all of her courage, Janet entered too.

"I'll see you guys later. Got to go check out the room. Make sure the rats didn't get in there again."
Tim laughed, standing up and swinging his pack up and onto his back, slightly reminiscing about the good ol' days. Rats hadn't really been a big problem. It was just an inside joke... mostly. A misunderstanding at most. He grinned as he tried to imagine what kind of adventures were in store for him and his friends that year. Probably something crazy and very close to bending the rules, almost snapping them clean in half. It wasn't as though the teachers weren't going to expect it though. He did have a particular reputation to uphold. He couldn't let down his teachers.

The Junior building was slightly more upgraded and luxurious than the Freshman and Sophomore buildings. It not only marked passing through school and earning new things, but also learning new maturity and gaining more responsibilities. To the actual students, it was a one-up on everyone below. Reminiscent of high school and the bus regulations. If anyone broke those sacred rules, they would soon find themselves in a whole heap of unwanted trouble. Tim jogged up to the second flight of stairs, turned a corner and headed down to the room at the end of the hallway. He had already met his mates down in the front courtyard and would thus, have it to himself for a little while.

His thoughts turned to the Sophomore he had seen earlier, the younger sister of that cocky Senior, Freddie Roberts. He couldn't exactly remember her name, but he could easily picture her face and her wave for some reason. A fleeting thought and he wondered if she knew who the hell he was. Well of course she will! Who can forget my ragged good looks and sporting physique? Tim thought with amusement, obviously joking. He shook his head, plopped his bags down on his old bed, checked under it for actual rats and then decided that he was pretty much all settled now. Time to go back outside and see what in store for the rest of the school year. Hopefully, some very good fun.

Layla was super glad that the speech was over. Her and her friends had left the auditorium and went back into their room. "Can you believe that we're back here again?" Lindsey asked towards them as she raised a brow at them. "Yes. I can. Aren't you happy?!" Layla squealed as she jumped up then looked towards them both. "And this year, we're taking the crown at the Final Showdown." She stated while freshening up and running her hands over her clothing, straightening them out.

"Okay, let's go audition for the first school play. I wonder what we're doing." She said towards them as they smiled towards each other then headed out of their room and outside. Her eyes gleamed when she saw that boy from earlier as she turned towards her friends. "Hey, you guys go ahead. I'll catch up." Lindsey and Lisa looked at each other then back at Layla. "Who is it?" Layla scoffed. "Who is who?" Lisa walked closer to Layla, wrapping her arm upon her shoulder. "The boy you're trying to see." Lindsey pointed at almost every guy on the parking lot but they knew which one it was because she was literally glowing.

Lindsey and Lisa thought that it was so cute that Layla was crushing on some random boy on the very first day. She rolled her eyes then watched as they walked off, arm in arm and giggling. Layla tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ears then turned to see him. She smiled brightly and widely then thought about how stupid she'd look when he would look up at her. She continued her trek towards him until she finally reached him. Upon her stopping just right in front of him, she smiled again. "Hey. I'm Layla. I'm one of the singers here." She extended her hand then raised one of her delicate brow. "And you are?" She asked in a polite tone.

Fred walked along with his buddies back to their room. They were still laughing from earlier, scaring the little freshman pip squeaks. They all sat down in almost perfect unison then raised a brow at each other. It was silent for a moment until Daniel spoke. "So, did you guys hear about the school play?" He asked them while going over his bag and pulling out his camera. "I hope they're not doing West Side Story again." Ronnie said with a sigh because it seemed like they did that every single year.

Fred snickered softly then looked towards Daniel. "So, what are they doing this year?" Daniel looked up at them both with a slight smirk spreading among his handsome features. "The Phantom of the Opera." Their eyes widened as they all looked at each other. "Of course, Freddy is going to get the lead in that production as well." Ronnie said as Freddy narrowed his gaze towards then looked at them both. "Actually, I'm not auditioning." They both gasped as Daniel walked over and rested his hand over Freddy's forehead. "Are you sick, my boy?" He asked jokingly.

"I want to give someone an actual chance this year." Freddy said while stroking his hand through his brunette color mane of hair. Daniel and Ronnie seriously thought that Freddy was joking but he was as serious as a heart attack. "But, I think we should at least go to the auditions, no?" They all jumped up in perfect unison again then walked out of their room, going straight towards the audition room. His eyes caught the attention of his sister with some boy. He remembered the kid from last year but what was so different from last year to this year. Freddy decided not to go over since his sister was far from older enough to take care of herself.
