The Goddesses

There are Twelve Goddesses who each bestowed their mark on one person each during the original scourge of the Dark Ones.
These Goddesses each gave a mark that would give the recipient heightened abilities in an area that would aid them in defending humanity.


These Goddesses and their marks are as follows:

Lina - Leadership
Ellena - Shadows
Petra - Warrior
Telanii - Knowledge
Rose - Worship
Zina - Craft
Bella - Health
Illani - Justice
Avva - Protection
Petrite - Magic
Lyvie - Peace
Sephna - Hunting

Lina - Leadership -
Those born under the star of Lina are born to lead. They are intelligent, and use the gifts of their team members to make the most informed decisions for the well-being of their team.



Ellena - Shadows -
Those born under the star of Ellena are masters of secrecy, infiltration and hiding. They have an aptitude for discovering impostors and interlopers, which makes them good spies.


Petra - Warrior -
Those born under the star of Petra are elite soldiers with abilities that far exceed anything of the normal human soldier, and often progress through the ranks of the military with ease.


Telanii - Knowledge -
Those born under the star of Telanii have vast intellect, and achieve far beyond their counterparts. With their intelligence and quick thinking, they make excellent strategists and planners.


Rose - Worship -
Those born under the star of Rose are blessed with psychic abilities that enable the Goddesses to pass on guidance to the people. Those of them who do not become members of the Star Temple are often valuable informants in the military, and in dire circumstances, they can act as a vessel through which their Goddess can protect them and those around them.


Zina - Craft -
Those born under the star of Zina are gifted in creating things to aid their teams in defending against the Dark Ones. They are the only ones who are capable of creating weapons that can harm the creatures, and buildings that have protective materials infused into the very brick. Their role is one of great importance, as without them, there is no way to defend or fight against the creatures, and humanity would soon be overrun.


Bella - Health -
Those born under the star of Bella have the ability to channel their Goddesses power, healing the sick and injured. In battle, they are important to the survival of any who are injured, but their power only goes so far. They cannot reverse loss of limbs, and they cannot bring people back from the dead, as such a thing would be an abomination like that of the Dark Ones.


Illani - Justice -
Those born under the star of Illani are honest and proud, and their skills when it comes to keeping the people safe from harm are renowned. Illani star births are so rare, however, that most of those who are born under her star become the highest ranking of detectives and investigators. They have qualities of loyalty and trust, and their Goddess leads them to the truth.


Avva - Protection -
Those born under the star of Avva are able to sense most dangers coming, and while they cannot prevent them, they are naturally skilled in defensive techniques, and they are often assigned to protect the most important people around them, and if on a team, they will protect the one with the most importance to the current plan. They can often be percieved as cold and unfeeling, but in reality their loyalty is clear.


Petrite - Magic -
Those born under the star of Petrite are the only ones who can use magical spells and rituals from birth. They have an understanding of the earth given to them by their Goddess, and they know how to use nature to their advantage. However, those of them who go rogue make formidable foes, and the penalty for going rogue is to be seen at a Dark One, and to meet a Dark One's fate.


Lyvie - Peace -
Those born under the star of Lyvie can see light where others see dark, and hope where others have given up. They are the ones who keep the morale of the team high, and for more high ranking people, they often become diplomats or negotiators.


Sephna - Hunting -
Those born under the star of Sephna are the only ones who can kill a dark creature for good. Their purpose is to destroy the creatures that lurk in the shadows, and to protect the people from the fate they fought to avoid. They are often passionate about getting rid of as much evil from the earth as they can. Their Goddess Sephna also protects them from the effects these evil creatures would have on anyone else, and they are immune to such things as vampire bites and demonic control.

The Star Temple

The Star Temple are an organisation of devout worshipers of the Twelve Goddesses.
They believe that the Twelve Goddesses, also known by the names 'Holy Mothers' 'Star Queens' and 'Governesses', are responsible for the creation of the world and humanity. Their beliefs also include the idea that the Dark Ones were created by a rogue thirteenth Goddess, who despised humanity, but despite their attempts to commune with the Goddesses to confirm their beliefs, the Goddesses have refused to acknowledge them.
They continue to believe these things anyway, and they make claims to be in direct contact with the Goddesses themselves in order to make the people believe them, but any Star Child knows this not to be true.


The Star Temple has great influence over the government, as the King and his court are afraid to go against what they are being told are the commands of the Goddesses.
The people at the very top of the Temple Hierarchy are among the most corrupt of any organisation, and they do all they can to keep Star Children away from them, as they are well aware that what they are selling is all lies.

 
The Star Marks

People born with Star Marks are known as Star Children.
A star mark can be located anywhere on the body, and one person can only have one Star Mark of one of the Goddesses.


Children's Star Marks show up around the age of 5, and if a Star Mark is discovered on a child, they are from that point on taken in by one of their own - an adult who bares the same Star Mark as them, to be trained and taught to use and control their abilities. Most of them never see their parents again.

The World

This is a map of the place in which the roleplay takes place!

The climate is chilly most of the year, with a few months out of the year being warm and pleasant.

Cities:
> Lucielle - The capital city of Astrea, the location of the royal family's castle, and the main trade hub of the province.
> Karna - The Eastern-most city on Astrea, the first stop for incoming traders from the eastern province, and the starting point of our story!
> Vigate - The only city on Juniper Island, it acts as a stop for those coming to Astrea by ship from across the seas.

Villages:
> Luna - the Northern-most village on Astrea, up in the cold mountains.
> Sathe - A village to the North-West of the capital, in the hills in front of the mountains that separate Astrea and the Western Province.
> White Rock - A small trading village between Luna, Lucielle and Tuskile.
> Tuskile - The first and only stop on the way to Lucielle from Karna
> Hartwood - the Western-most village out of Lucielle, separated from the rest of the province by thick forests.
> Tapparith - A fairly new, Tiny village on the outskirts of a dense forest between Karna and itself.
> Black Bridge Sea Port - A massive trading port that connects Juniper Island to the province of Astrea through it's signature Black Brick Bridge, built all the way at the beginning by the original twelve star children to withstand almost anything.
> Anevale - The most secluded and vunerable of the villages on Juniper Island, and the last surviving one due to the dangers that lurk in the vast forest it sits within.

Q&A Section.

I'm getting lots of questions about the reasons for certain things, so I'm going to explain things here. If you have any questions, I will post the answers here so I don't have to reply to every single one individually. ^^

Why are some Star kids more powerful than others?
Beings like humans and humanoid people have pure souls, with no darkness.
Beings like demons, vampires, etc, have impure souls, which means they have darkness in their soul. Anything that is not mortal has an impure soul. Some beings are more dark than others. The darker the creature's soul, the more powerful that creature is.
The Goddesses are in fact Dark Beings themselves, as they are not mortal.
SO, when a Goddess places their mark onto a person, they leave behind traces of darkness that give that person their exaggerated abilities.
The different Goddesses have varying levels of darkness in their souls, and therefore, the humans they mark will either have more or less darkness left over.
Sephna is the Goddess with the most darkness in her soul, and therefore, the humans she marks have the most darkness out of any Star Children.
That is why they are able to permanently kill dark creatures, because they are more dark than they are human.
This does not mean that they behave any less human, can't feel emotions or can't die, this just means that their soul is more impure than it is pure.
Since Sephna is the darkest, her effects on the people she marks are the most potent and that's why Sephna kids have the ability to kill dark creatures - because they are mostly dark themselves.​
