Realistic or Modern Turning Up the Heat

Max frowned softly and nodded "She has, let me call and see if she is okay." She murmured looking at her phone frowning more when she saw a voicemail from JD. She listened to it and went wide eyed getting up quickly "Jaxon we have to go."

JD rushed to her room and kept her hand in his crying quietly when he saw how bad off she looked

Her doctor went to speak to him and let him know that they were keeping her in a medically induced coma while she healed. They weren’t entirely sure still what caused the initial arrest but after they’d had her in surgery there had been complications and if things got worse than this then there was nothing they could do st that point for her.

“No mommy I don’t wanna go anywhere.” He whimpered and held on tightly to the kitchen seat refusing to get up.

JD sighed heavily and gave a nod letting a few tears fall "Oh Carmen please come back, dont leave." He whispered kissing her hand repeatedly

Max sighed heavily and went over to him "Baby Auntie Carmen is very sick, I need to see her." She said quietly hopimg he would be okay but when he started screaming and crying she knew there was no way she would be getting out of that house today

Jax ended up having a number of bad days over the last few of their time in panorama city and eventually they were on their way home and he was still struggling a little. Everything was just sensory overload for him and he was panicking a lot, barely letting max out of his sight even when they got home.

Carmen hadn’t changed at all and they had made it very clear that they were only giving it another week of no change before they turned everything off but Amelia on the other hand was doing amazing. Every day she was getting a little stronger and her nurse smiled when he walked in that morning. “Morning... I got some good news for you, matron says that you can hold your little girl today.” She smiled at him.

Max sat at home with Jax as he napped cuddling next to her. She was beyond exhausted as of late and today was their date with Jeffrey, she was thinking about canceling but maybe this would help Jax. She gave a soft sigh and called Jeffrey telling him they might be a bit late depending when Jax woke up.

JD looked at the nurse in shock and gave a wide smile "Seriously?" He asked happily moving to look at his daughter seeing the nurse take her out and pass her to him "Hi there princess...I'm your daddy." He whispered letting a few tears fall

Her nurse took a few photos for him happily before setting his phone back with him and started going through her charts. “How are you coping?” She asked. She’d talked with him a lot while he’d been there every day with his little girl and she wanted to make sure that he was getting himself prepared for being a dad but more importantly. Possibly being a single dad.

Jax woke up grumpy and looked over at his mom groaning then held onto her tightly. “No mommy. Make the wake time go away. I want sleepy.” He whimpered. Jeff has already texted suggesting he go to theirs instead to make it easier for Jax to be in a familiar environment.

Max gave a soft sigh and kissed the top of Jax's head having told Jeff that sounded like a great idea "No honey you gotta stay up remember we are going to have my friend over." She said hoping he didnt start having a tantrum she didjt know if she was in the mental state to deal with a full breakdown from him right now.

JD sighed heavily and didnt take his eyes off of his daughter "I'm okay...just hoping Carmen wakes up." He murmured stroking his daughter's cheek gently "I'm worried if I'll do a good job."

Jax whimpered a little and held onto her tighter still grumpy. “No mommy I sleepy!” He whines louder and shut his eyes, pulling his blanket over his head.

She nodded and sighed a little. “I understand but if it’s any consolation I think you’re gonna do just fine.” She assured him then helped him put Amelia back and watched him leave to go see Carmen.

Max sighed heavily and nodded "Okay baby, just rest til he gets here." She said quietly. Its was nearly 30 minutes later til she heard a knock at the door signaling Jeffrey's arrival. She let him in and took a deep breath as she looked over him. He had cleaned up for sure, fresh shave, nicer clothes. Where she on the other hand looked like a complete wreck, hair in an awful messy bun, bags under her eyes from her awful sleep patterns, and baggy clothes to finish off her exhausted look.

JD nodded softly and placed his daughter back down "Thank you, that means a lot." He murmured before he said his goodbyes and went to see Carmen. He took her hand in his and started murmuring to her about how well Amelia was doing and how he had finally held her today.

A few times her nurse popped in to check up on her but mostly they had privacy and just before he was leaving to go get food she was starting to wake up, her monitors picking up on the little extra stress when her hand went up to the ventilator.

He smiled some at her and gave her a quick hug then followed her inside and through to the lounge to see Jax had found the tv remote and was now watching cartoons with his favourite teddy bear. “God He looks like me.” He chuckled quietly enough that Jax wouldn’t hear.

Max nodded softly and bit her lip hard "Yeah he does." She whispered before she walked over to him "Jaxon, can you come say hi to my friend? He really wants to meet you." She said softly to him hoping that when he saw Jeff he would get in a better mood

JD got up to go get some lunch but soon atopped at the door when he heard her monitors going off. He turned arounf and went wide eyed giving a giant smile as he saw her eyes opened. He quickly moved her hand from the ventilator and pressed the call button "Its okay babe, its okay just take it easy."

She frowned and watched him, gripping at his hand for a moment before her hand went limp again and her eyes started closing once more, her monitors sending alarms off.

Jeff smiled over at the little boy who didn’t seem to be paying attention. He was much more interested in his cartoon so he just waited patiently not wanting to interrupt or undermine her.

Max frowned some and took the remote turning the TV on mute "Jaxon, come say hi, you can watch Cartoons in a minute." She said a little sternly glancing over at Jeff for a brief moment before Jaxon started crying

JD went wide eyed and pressed call again "Carmen no! No dont do this!" He yelled moving out of the way when the nurses rushed in to help

Jeff smiled when he cried but he still got up and walked over to them and Jeff crouched down, reaching out to shake his hand. “Hey there buddy, my name is Jeff, what’s yours?” He asked him.

This time he wasn’t allowed back in to see her for well over half an hour and when her doctor did come to collect him. It didn’t appear to be good news.

Jax frowned and made his way over going a bit wide eyed seeing the fireman who had held him the night Clayton got sick "Hi.." he said meekly holding his teddy bear tighy giving him a small wave before he ran behind Max

Max gave a small smile and walked back to Jeff with Jax hot on her heels "Say my name is Jaxon Dean." She said softly biting her lip as she looked at Jeff to gauge his reaction to Jax being named after him.

JD went to the doctor and took a deep breath "What happened?" He asked quietly

He smiled some and looked at him. “Oh that’s cool... did you know that dean is my middle name too?” He asked him “That’s a pretty cool teddy bear huh?” He smiled then waited quietly when Jax walked over to him a bit braver and hugged him.

He frowned taking him back to her room to explain that she had now suffered a further cardiac arrest and because of how long she was down they were worried about brain damage so she was going for a CT scan right now.

Max smiled softly as Jax hugged Jeffrey slowly and showed him his teddy bear 'He my best friend, and Iron Man.' She heard him say quietly 'My daddy was Iron man.' He said quietly like it was a secret which made Max's heart ache.

JD frowned and took a deep breath letting a few tears fall "Right um..may i wait in her room?" He asked quietly needing a quiet to call everyone

Her doctor nodded at him and let him back in then left him to privacy.

Jeff smiled at him. “That’s amazing buddy.” He told him and looked up at max as her phone rang, watching her go to the other room looking worried. “So Jax I hear that you got a birthday coming up. How old are you gonna be?” He asked him.

Jax raised up his hand showing him the number four while he continued to stay quiet. He soon took Jeffrey's hand and pointed at the TV signaling he wanted to watch the super hero cartoons with him

JD thanked the doctor before he started making calls. He started off with her family and then Max telling her it would probably be best if she came to the hospital

They brought her back in after a while and explained that it was likely she had sustained at the very least semi permanent damage. They would know more though once she woke up.

Jeff smiled and turned the sound back on for him, “who’s your favourite super hero? Mine is Batman.” He smiled at him then frowned when max came in looking upset so Jeff got up and stepped to the hallway with her. “You alright?” He asked worried for her.

Jax smiled and stood up doing his Iron Man pose "Iron Man my favorite, and spider ma." He said happily pretending to shoot webs out of his hand. He frowned though when Jeff went to see Max and whimpered running over to him hugging his leg tight

Max looked at Jeff and wiped her eyes quickly taking a deep breath "That was JD....he said Carmen just went into cardiax arrest again. Theyre not sure if she will make it." She whispered looking down at Jax as he came over and hugged Jeff's leg tight

JD frowned and nodded softly taking a deep breath as he looked at her "You're sure she will wake up again?" He asked quietly but as he turned his head back towards the door the doctor was already gone

He frowned some and just picked Jax up not even thinking twice but Jax cuddled him tightly anyway. “You need to go down there? I can drive you there and watch him.” He told her quietly.

His mom arrived to stay with him and just hugged him tightly again. “How are you doing?”

Max shook her head frowning some "No I couldn't ask you to do that...I'll call my mom and ask her." She said softly not fully sure if Jeffrey was ready to have Jaxon by himself

JD hugged his mother back and shook his head softly "I cant loose her ma." He whispered

He shook his head and made her look at him. “Max... it’s the least I can do.” He assured her quietly “What do you think kiddo... road trip?” He smiled at Jax and watched the little boy giggle then hide his face and go all shy again.

She frowned and kissed his forehead rubbing his back. “She’s not going to be leaving you yet.” She tried to assure him. “Go see your little girl for a bit. I’ll watch carmen mijo.” She smiled at him.
