Trouble starting and staying.

Overlord Misha on his Duck throne
I have a bit of trouble writing roleplays. I can get started and have a lot of dialouge but then it loses steam. Any advice?

I find whenever I get whatever I like to refer to as Roleplayer's Block, taking some time from the roleplay can help give you an edge up. While you're doing this, don't focus all your attention on what you're going to write next. It's easy to spend a lot of time getting out good replies, and then get burnt out with no idea what to write next. Pacing, generally. That's as much as I can help.

Yes. Make it short. Cut the RP off before you run out of steam. It doesn't help anyone, dealing with a drained writer.

Other suggestions: listen to music of your role-play. Get in the theme of your role-play's zone. There are numerous music genres where you can find songs that match the energy of your role-play.

Keep practicing. The more you write, the more natural making material will become.

Exercise. It gets your blood flowing and mind filled with good chemicals to help your thinking out. Don't underestimate this one. <---

Read books. They teach you techniques that you can follow to stretch your work.

Change your mindset. From the words in your post, it feels like you're looking at role-plays like they are a book. They are not. Many people think this, but it's just not true. There is more than one writer. You don't get to "take a break and come back," without losing people. It's less on what you want, and more on what we want. This also means less of you and more of others. You don't have to direct everything. There are other players there to hopefully fill in the blanks.

I can't tell, but maybe you're doing too much dialogue and not enough action? Unlike a book, rarely will people swim through tons of dialogue, so take it easy on the talking if that's what you're doing.
