Trigger happy smilieys

I really like this site's smiley theme, but I honestly find that it is too easy to get a smiley when you were trying to convey information.

When supplying ooc information, I often use parentheses and when the information happens to end in an 8, I get this: 8) [8 )] which is not what I was looking for. Similarly ending a note and following it with a colon produces ): [) :]which is even worse as a sad face spreads sad faces.

I'm not sure this is an exhaustive list, but these are at least the worst culprits, and I for one would appreciate them not parsing automatically.

The easiest solution would probably be to have a check box in posts that completely disables the smiley-parser.

You can use spoiler tags for OOC [ spoiler=OOC ] stuff [ /spoiler ] (without the spaces) or even tabs.

The Smiley system is built into the core of the forum software so it will take a while to come up with any decent solutions.

I apologize for this inconvenience :( .
