This roleplay takes place in the United States, circa 1792, a few years after the American War for Independence. Almost a full century after the Salem Witch Trials, the fear of witchcraft and demons has risen back up again, now more founded with proof that demons live among them, tempting the American people with magic and power. As America expands to the West, so too do the demons. Some promote the violent removal of the Native Americans, as petty revenge for resisting their tricks. President Washington has remained silent on the issue, and some believe even he may be in league with the demons; compromising the American people in exchange for longevity and strength. This will look into the various struggles of several American people as they survive against starvation, the elements, and their own spirituality.

American Colonists

The Colonists sailed from Great Britain to the American lands almost two centuries ago. Since then they have struggled to survive its harsh winters, wrest control of the land from Natives, and only recently fought a bloody war for their Independence. They're tired and fatigued, mentally, but their ambitions do not let them rest. The Colonists expand westward, claiming new territories as their States. They wield a right to bear firearms to protect themselves.

Many of the colonists are devoted Christians; praising God as their deity and his son as their Savior. They are told to avoid Satan and his demons, for they desire to lead them down a path away from God's light. God does not give his followers magic, for he wants them to lead humble lives of charity and simplicity. Many find it easy to be tempted by the Demons; letting them enchant their farms to grow more plentiful food, or enchant their guns to hit their mark more often; or even just falling in love with their pretty faces. The more fanatically devoted often go to seek out Demons and those who consort with Demons, seeking to have them arrested and given a rigged trial, so that they may be hanged. Only, it isn't that easy to trap a demon and their consorts.

Benign Demons

There are some Demons who do not actively worship Satan, or even oppose his religion. Whether these demons abandon their spirituality or seek God's light is unknown, but what is known is that they aren't deliberately trying to damn people to Hell, they're just trying to live their eternal lives peacefully among them.

Demons who leave Satan appear more human than others, and do not even have to use magic to blend in amongst them. Usually, there are only a few details that separate them from humans, such as pointed ears, unusual eye color, unusual hair color, or even the presence of a tail, animal ears, or horns. The demons like this who have been identified are called things such as Elves, Fae, or other mythological creatures they might represent. And while most Colonists and even Native Americans care little for their presence, fanatical colonists still seek to hang them.
