She had been wandering for months in aimless directions until she overheard a rumor of a white haired demon in the Musashi Province. This rumor at least gave her some direction and possibility of finding her prey. The lack of progress was frustrating and she was beginning to wonder if that woman was even still alive. Ahika decided she would never stop searching for her or the pack leader.

On her travels to this particular village had revealed there were many stories it was involved in. She dislike the idea of going near a human village and couldn't understand the purpose of a demon frequenting such a place. Maybe the stories had attracted that pair since it sounded like something the power-hungry would be interested in.

When she finally did reach the small village she was careful in hiding her presence as she observed the residents. It was like any other little village in the area; mostly farmers and their families. However there was a small group of curious individuals. The white-haired half-blood wasn't the one that had been mentioned in the rumor she had overheard at another village. He wasn't a wolf demon but rather a dog demon and he was far too old to be any possible offspring.

She let out a sigh of frustration as she continued to watch the interactions between the humans and this half-demon. Her pack had been fairly recluse and growing up she had been taught that humans were weak and fearful creatures that would attack a demon just because they believed all demons had an interest in killing them. Ahika didn't bother with humans if they didn't bother her.

She decided that she would stay near the village for a few days and hopefully catch wind of another rumor. If there was nothing revealed here she would have to move on to other tactics to find her sister. Wandering aimlessly was a plan borne from her rage rather than reason. While she observed the little village she would try and decide her next move.

There were very few things that made Sesshoumaru, son of Inu no Taisho, daiyoukai of royal blood, truly angry.

His half-brother, Inuyasha, and half-breed weakling, annoyed him to no end. The mere existence of a hanyou in the dog-demon's bloodline irked him greatly. Sesshoumaru often wondered why he didn't just kill the brat, but then, if it hadn't been for his compassion towards his half-brother, he may never have gotten stronger in the end. Jaken, the kappa servant always jabbering at his side--that was annoying, too. Though the daiyoukai had learned to block out the whiny chatter over the years and appreciate, at least, that Jaken was loyal. The memory of Naraku, and his highly disrespectful use of Sesshoumaru for his own devices. Nobody used the great Sesshoumaru--especially a lowly half-breed such as Naraku.

But then, there were the things that threatened Rin. Possibly the only person who truly had Sesshoumaru's heart in her hands, Rin was a beam of light and compassion in the demon's life. She taught him what it meant to love someone wholly and completely and the power of such bonds. Though it still didn't really make much sense to Sesshoumaru, he would do anything for the girl he'd gotten so attached to... including murder those who would threaten her.

So when he scented the blood of a powerful demon near the village in which Rin lived, Sesshoumaru felt his blood boil. Where the hell was his useless hanyou brother, and why hadn't Inuyasha detected this scent earlier? It seemed as though it had been here for quite a while... though there was no scent of blood or fear. This demon was hiding out, observing. For what, Sesshoumaru had no idea, other than perhaps it was more cautious than the average demon who barged into villages with no restraint.

He readied the Dokkasou, poison pooling beneath his claws. Sesshoumaru felt no need to draw Bakusaiga yet--that was reserved for large-scale, difficult battles, and it was at the ready as it was. The mokomoko-sama trailed behind him as he flew towards the target until he was sure it was near enough to hear him.

"Show yourself, demon," he demanded, voice clipped and curt. "Why are you here?" The answer would determine whether or not he killed it--and even then, he thought he might kill it anyways. But, something about this scent... this was similar to Kouga of the wolf tribe. And yet, it was reminiscent of fresh ice and snow. Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed, senses on alert. This demon could be powerful.

Ahika had been cautious around the village. She had been able to avoid detection by the half-blood. So far this seemed like a dead end for her quest. She had been here for days without hide nor hair of her sister's presence mentioned or sensed. It was on this last day of observation that a new presence revealed itself.

This was a full-blooded demon. She could automatically tell that it wasn't her sister based on a variety of factors; scent and presence. She moved silently to observe the other demon wondering what he was doing near a human village. If he was here to destroy it she might have to confront him since this was the only mention of any white-haired demon. He himself had similar physical traits to the half-blood which made her wonder if they were related.

Her thoughts were cut short when he commanded she show herself. She didn't want to waste her time in a senseless fight. However she knew that if she tried to flee she would be pursued. Having a powerful demon chasing after you wasn't her in plans.

"I could ask you the same thing," she replied bluntly.

She didn't go out of her way to reveal herself since speaking aloud would give him an idea of where she was. She tensed her muscles and changed her stance to be prepared if this demon decided to attack her. The demons she had encountered thus far generally attacked her for foolish reasons so she wasn't going to let her guard down with this one. She would get out of this situation alive and maybe even find out more information from this demon (though she doubted he was the type to bother listening to gossip).

The reply came from nearby. Sesshoumaru was mildly surprised that he hadn't detected her exact location before this, but now that he had, his guard came up quickly to meet her. But nothing happened. Facing in her direction, Sesshoumaru continued to question her.

"You chose to observe this village for a considerable amount of time. Why?" He demanded, ignoring her retort. He continued to try and figure out what her scent was... it wasn't something he'd encountered before, but it reminded him of something he'd heard of before. Wolf demons--but these lived in high altitudes, in the ice and snow. That would explain both her similarity to Koga and the smell of cold precipitation about her. For the voice was obviously feminine, and now that he thought about it, the undercurrent of her scent was wild, but the musk of a female was certainly present.

A rustling and clamorous, clumsy sound came from where Sesshoumaru had come from, and Jaken, the little kappa, appeared from between a few trees. He was huffing and puffing, clinging to the Staff of Two Heads to catch his breath. The high-pitched, whining voice sounded.

"My Lord Sesshoumaru! Why would you leave me so far behind?!" he cried. The dog-demon didn't respond, or even look over to indicate that he'd heard. Thankfully, Jaken saw Sesshoumaru fixated upon a point and quieted, following the daiyoukai's line of sight.

"What's wrong, milord?"

Sesshoumaru still didn't look away from that point, but spoke aloud to his servant. "Jaken. Go into the village and stay with Rin," he demanded in his flat tone. Jaken whinged and wailed for a few moments, but scrambled away when Sesshoumaru's claws twitched.

"Are you going to stay there forever, demon? Or will you show your face?" Sesshoumaru eventually challenged, arrogance slipping into his tone.

Ahika was becoming more and more agitated by this demon. It was strange for a demon to be so protective over a human village. The rumors about this place didn't seem so far fetched now. Whatever he was protecting - as long as it wasn't her sister or that man - she had no interest in it. He seemed capable of logic and reason but that didn't mean he wouldn't kill her without using either of those traits.

Her attention slid over the the noisy little kappa. Based on their interaction he was a servant of this demon. Even more curious was why he would have his servant protect a human girl. Doing nothing but staring at the daily life of villagers and you start to learn who is who. The relationship between this demon and that little girl was... peculiar. The human child was clearly not his offspring as she wasn't a half-blood.

She was brought out of her musings by his arrogant tone. She had the advantage of being hidden he probably assumed she was a threat to what he was protecting and viewed as his territory. There would be no progression if she remained hidden since he seemed determined to challenge her.

She silently made her way through the forest and casually stepped out beyond the treeline. She remained guarded as she revealed herself. She kept her expression blank as her mind ran various scenarios of how this encounter could turn out; she'd die, he'd die, or they'd just go their separate ways.

She was smart enough to keep her curious thoughts to herself. If she even muttered the names of his companions he probably wouldn't hesitate in trying to harm her. She needed to explain her presence in such a way that she made it clear she had no interest in anything but information from him (if he had any).

The woman surprised him yet again when she willingly stepped from within her hiding place. Sesshoumaru resisted the urge to growl--he did not like surprises. But he had to at least respect her resolve. He could likely kill her with little effort, if he so wished, and yet here she stood.

His assumptions of wolf blood were confirmed as he looked her over. Clawed hands, pointed ears, and a wolf's tail... though her silver hair was intriguing. She indeed looked the part of a mountain wolf, but what she was doing so far from her home was a mystery. Sesshoumaru's hand kept close to Bakusaiga, but the poison in his claws was beginning to recede somewhat. Did she not mean to harm the villagers? Even so, her very presence could draw weaker demons here, aching for a challenge. How she'd masked her scent and presence from Inuyasha and Kagome was a mystery... though, no doubt they'd come running at one point after catching wind of her.

"You would be wise to keep away from this village, wolf," he warned her in his flat tones once more. "I know not what your purpose is, but this place is heavily guarded." Sesshoumaru's cold gaze never left hers, though one eye was partially obscured by her thick, silver hair.

The question was... what was she still doing here? If she did not leave in the next few seconds, the dog demon would rip her to shreds with his claws and sword. It was less than what a threat to Rin deserved. His eyes narrowed as he stared her down.

She looked over the demon before her verifying that he wasn't one of the weaker demons out there. If they did end up in a fight it wouldn't be a simple task of protecting herself from death. The true point of revealing herself was to see his reaction to her appearance. If he had ever encountered her sister he probably would have either tried to kill her immediately or indicated they had come across each other before.

However, his reaction was that of meeting a strange demon in a territory he was protecting. This meant that her sister hadn't come to this village. Her sister probably would have destroyed the village for her own amusement. She had revealed a dark core that put anyone in that woman's path at risk.

"I have no interest in that village," she stated plainly.

There was no reason to state anything else. She was back at the start once again and had no hint to where her sister and that man could possibly be. She would probably have to change her tactics. If her sister and that man were still alive and they thought she was dead they would go about their lives. If they were to hear she had survived they would probably come find her. She wasn't sure exactly how she could spread this information beyond seeking out another wolf pack that wouldn't kill her on sight. She remember there had been a few ally packs from her father, but since her pack didn't exist any more she wasn't sure they would help her.

The alpha in her howled at the idea of what she viewed as a submissive retreat. She did't turn her back on him or take her eyes off him as she walked backwards back into the cover of the forest. She kept her eyes on him till he was out of sight before she finally turned and wandered off in an eastern direction.

She was still very curious about why a full blooded demon would protect a human and a human village. Maybe her pack had been too absorbed in staying hidden away from the world that they missed out on the changes that had occurred around them.

Her eyes seemed to size him up for a few moments before she answered him, confirming his suspicion that she was not interested in this particular village--rather, she was looking for something else. It seemed his mere presence answered her question... interesting. Sesshoumaru was intrigued as to why she would come all this way just to wait for a demon such as he to arrive. She had to have been waiting to see him in particular--why else would she leave? Sesshoumaru suspected it was not because of his threats. She looked too... proud to be driven away just by that.

"Hmph. Then, our business is done here." The wolf demon backed away slowly, understanding that doing so was a peaceful, submissive gesture. She made sure Sesshoumaru could watch her leave the entire time before she disappeared out of sight.

Several quiet moments passed as the daiyoukai stayed standing there in contemplation. Her scent was very distinct, and would be easy to follow... but Sesshoumaru had no business following her when their interactions were finished. It was odd, though--the urge to catch up to her and speak to her further was extremely strong, and his demon instincts wanted to chase her down. The wind picked up, catching his mokomoko-sama and trailing it in the breeze, when he realized... her resolve, the look on her face... it reminded him of Kagura.

"Hmph." He turned and walked towards the village where Rin would be waiting for him.

[Do you want to do a time-skip? Perhaps Sesshoumaru runs into her on one of his travels?]

(Sure, I can do a time-skip. To the future!)

It had been over a month since her encounter with the white-haired demon. She had been making her way east to try and locate the wolf pack that called that territory their home. She had been delayed a few times due to lesser demons attacking her. She didn't understand why the lesser demons had this death wish. The last group had been particularly troublesome. They had managed to gather just enough numbers to actually wound her. The wound wasn't so terrible that; she had experienced something far worse and considered this a mere scratch in comparison.

So now here she was at this river bank surrounded by the corpses of these lesser demons and their awful stench. She wondered if many she could use these lesser demons to her advantage. She had been pondering the idea of spreading rumors about her presence but had been unsure as to how. Perhaps she could leave a sole survivor from those demons who attacked her. Maybe they would speak about her to others and the information would spread. This could have a consequence at the same time though. It could cause larger groups to seek her out. They weren't much of a problem unless they managed to create a horde. She decided this was a risk she was willing to take.

"Tch."

She the smell was disgusting and being as she used her bare hands to end her attackers the smell was clinging to her. She didn't bother to remove her armor or furs and simply waded into the river to rinse off the stench and blood. Her attire would dry as she continued on her path.
