Town square

Hearing this revelation, Volaren thought for second. Felix may be cocky, but he saw the reaction that Felix did when his mother got closer to him. He looked more like a frightened kitten than a big powerful lion. Sighing with frustration Volaren decided what to do with Felix. I hope I'm making the right choice.

"Seeing as he's more scared of his mother's wrath than mine, I'll let you deal him. What he did was honestly minor, but he should still be punished. I suggest make him do some hard labor with either the lumberjack or the blacksmith." Looking from Leona to Felix, Volaren addressed Leona again. "Also when you're done meet me at my house, it's about time I tell you some things about my past; since we're all coming out in the open today."

Volaren walked off towards his house and waited for Leona to follow him.

Elch looked at Volaren before stepping out of her way. He looked between the two and his smirk returned. Elch laughed slightly and walked into the merchants shop. Minutes later shouts erupted and Elch walked out. He looked mad as he walked to where he left the tree he chopped down. The saw mill wasn't that far away so he'd just drag it.

Elch wrapped the rope around himself then started to walk. He spotted a small black haired girl with pale skin spying on the group from before. Well minus the guard captain, as he walked away.

"Hey. Could you come help me with something?" Elch called out to the smaller girl.

Felix

After Volaren had walked away he snapped a look to his mother. "Why'd you have to do that? I had it handled. Been on my own long enough." Putting up a tough act Felix was disappointed not in his mother but in himself. Leona had this strange way of putting him in his place. He snorted before pulling his arm back and looking to Locke. Rolling his eyes he made his way into the tavern before glaring round at his mother thankfully her back was turned and he wasn't going to receive a slap from her.

Leona

When Felix began motoring on about him handling the situation she couldn't do anything but sigh. "You'll do as he says, find the Blacksmith or Lumberjack and sort it." Her pace quickened as she walked after Volaren. The secret was out, she'd had a kid. But the father? Little to be hold about what happened there. She was suprised at Volarens reaction more than anything, thought perhaps he'd begin seeing her in a different light. But heaven forbid he had something along those lines in his past. She'd never shared anything about hers, this was the first time perhaps someone would find out the whole truth of what she'd done and what had happened to her.

She jogged up slightly to catch up to Volaren before moving towards his home.

Laine turned around upon hearing someone calling out to her. It was a man presumably in his late twenties. Laine got shocked when someone has managed to find her in the deep fog. Laine's right index finger began to glow under her long sleeve. But it's not bright enough to be seen by others. Laine's squinted to the man. SShe didn't even bother approaching him. She just simply stood her in place and gave him a blank stare.

"Or you could just stand there." Elch muttered. He had to go near her anyway, she looked young. A teenager at most, which is probably why's she's so....small. He dragged the tree and himself towards the lumber mill.

"Hey, I'll pay you to go grab my bag. It's at the edge of the woods. Please?" Elch said to Laine.

Laine looked up to the man. She looked at him with a pout under her mask once he approached her closer, funny how this man did not suspect her suspicious for her face is rarely seen by the public. Plus the mask on her face which was very suspicious to the townsfolk. Seem like this man doesn't know everyone in the residence. Running will not be an option for her. For it is considered rude and she will pull off more suspicion around the square. Laine tilted her head to man indicating that her interest is caught.

"I have a large tan bag near the edge of town." Elch pointed back the way he came. "I'll pay you 20 quid if you could go fetch it. I'll be over at the saw mill when you come back." He noticed the mask but knew better than to ask about it. Some people were sensitive about such things.

'Not much of a talker, maybe she's mute? Or maybe she's like Smoke, cursed?' Elch thought to himself. Smoke was a sad thought but he couldn't help himself. He missed his little brother sometimes.

Locke

Locke watched as the situation unfolded. Leona had shown up and things started to calm down. As they dispersed he said to himself "Well that was quick.". He was never much of a confrontation kind of guy, so he wasn't gonna do much in the moment. Thank god Leona showed up.

(Sorry for the short post. Just gotta catch up)

Volaren heard Leona catch up to him. Thankfully he didn't have to wait long. "We should've had this discussion long ago, but better late than never as they say." Coming to his house which was on the edge skirts of town, Volaren opened the door and walked in inside. "Come on in, I'll make some tea." Volaren went to work making the tea, but also glancing over at Leona. "Sorry to say my home isn't as lively as the others I'm sure you've been in. I honestly came to this town on a whim about a year ago." Taking the tea off the stove and placing it on a small table near the kitchen, Volaren sat down and poured both of them a cup of tea.

"Please have a seat. I know there is more to your past but you don't have to feel afraid of telling me anything Leona. I'm here for you as your superior more as another living being. So tell me more about your past and I'll tell you about mine. We need to trust each other." Volaren sipped on his tea and waited for Leona to begin her story.

@Kiowa

Laine nodded her head dashed towards the man's instructed direction. As she disappeared through the fog. She slowly erected her wings, she almost made it pop out while she was being interacted with the man earlier. Upon having enough running speed, she hovered gently flew off two inches above the ground. It was faster this way. She got lost for a few minutes. Due to the fog's thickness. Laine has reached her destination. Looking around she saw the bag the man was asking for. She had to hide her wings while picking up the bag, in case if someone is there watching her picking it up. She soon attempted to go back to the place where she had left the man with his bag. @ZappiestAbyss

Leona

Leona sighed as she listened to Volaren. It was never to soon for her, the later the better in her books. Once they reached his home, she walked in with him gazing round before sitting herself down. "You've got more of a home than me." She chuckled lightly and coldly to herself. Picking up the cup in her hands she slowly took a sip head buried into her chest as she glanced up to Volaren slightly afraid. Her eyes blinked down for a moment before she leaned back in the chair, taking another good look at the home, soon enough she put the tea down and crossed her arms. "There is one thing you need to know from the start, I did what I needed to do." Her eyes struck home as she looked to Volaren, they had little emotion in them before she cleared her throat.

"I had no mother. No father either. Practically a slave for people, or a pet as they like to refer to me as." Her heart sank for a moment, and her fists clenched, it'd been a while since she'd revisited these memories, but part of her wanted to let go of it. "I grew up, they didn't. I ran, they didn't. Didn't take me long before I found work and to be quite honest, I should be in a cell." Her eyes never left Volarens, her heart beat was steady at this point, she didn't care for what she had done.

Elch nodded as she ran off.

"What's her name? Probably doesn't want to share..." Elch muttered to himself. It wasn't uncommon for people around here. Some people were here to forget their old life, to lay the foundation for a new life.

Elch could be considered one of those people, although he didn't want to really forget his old life.

Elch dragged the tree the final leg to the saw mill. However this left pine clippings on the road, Elch sighed and grabbed a broom. The cold and fog were starting to get to him, however he knew that once he started working he'd warm up. He finished sweeping the clippings off the street, he smiled slightly before walking back to the mill. Elch grabbed his axe and started to hack away at the tree. Branches came off first, before he started to work on the log he tied up half the bundle of sticks and put them to the side. They were for the blacksmith, he hoped to make a deal with them.

While flying back to the man. She soon arrived back to the location she had found the man. Laine looked around only to find out that the man was not there. Trying remember the last thing the man said. Laine remembered that he moved to a different location. This took Laine a while to figure out. hovering once more she went to the sawmill. Elch was busy cutting off the branches when the masked girl came by. He recognized his tan bag, and he smiled slightly.

"There's 50 quid in the bag, take 20. The last 30 quid is for lunch, which you can join if you'd like." Elch said smiling as he finished. He grabbed the base of the log and began hacking away at it.

"What's your name? I haven't seen you, ever." Elch asked.

Laine lend the bag to the man. As the man offered her some money Laine swiftly took the 20. And before quickly turning around and taking her leave. But then suddenly the man asked for her identity. Laine turned around slowly with fear in her eyes. Giving away her name could lead to gossip throughout the town. Making the people aware of her presence. She was having doubts that this man might be a little talkative which dangerous for her. Like this man has manage to talk to strangers without hesitation. Laine looked up to man and gave him a blank stare. Hesitated tell her name, she tried to say her name in the most quickest way possible. "Laine" She said swiftly and quietly.

Elch stopped and smiled sweetly. He put down the axe and wiped off his hands on his pants. He held out his somewhat clean hand for a handshake.

"I understand if you'd want me to keep it a secret. You seem like the quiet type who'd want to keep it to yourself. I must be special then." Elch chuckled. "Either way I'm Elch. Some people call me Moose."

'Laine. Familiar? No, trustworthy name.' Elch thought quickly to himself.

Melody had a book in her hand as per usual, though it was closed. With the shut cover against her front, she hummed slightly as she walked from her home. In her head she was reciting the list of things she would need to get for today's trip into town. She sighed, noting she would need to stop by the bar eventually to purchase alcohol since she had a very limited amount of herself. She yawned slightly as she rose her palm up to her eye, rubbing into it. She scolded herself as she paused before stepping onto the main road into down. She straightened herself out for a moment and then looked around the area, eventually composing herself and her posture. She seemed to had look fairly tired, though she had a lively step in her posture. But to those who might have more perception of the physical form- it would have clearly been forced.

"Fruit.. Alochol.. Maybe I should order more wood if it's going to always be this cold.."

She shivered in the fog slightly, her plush frame shivering in the cold. She sighed as she stopped, placing her book on top of her backed satchel. Taking out the blue ribbon from her hair, she undid the curly mane and began to let it down completely. She swept her licks over her shoulders, using them as a type of blanket to protect against the cold. A light sigh escaped her, leaving her a little bit warmer than she had been. Her hands reached up to take the top portion of her hair and pulled it back so she wouldn't be simply unkempt- using the ribbon to keep it steady. She moved forward slowly, closer to the town. Melody yawned as she continued to keep her mind busy as she went along her typical day of meandering around the town.

Laine gently raised her arm up towards the man's hand level. The hand is rarely seen yet Laine tried to handshake him in order for her to not be considered rude. Elch, a strange name for a hardworking man like him. Laine began fidget in place. Obviously she cannot hide her wings any further. She pointed her her finger out behind Elch. She wanted to distract him a little while.

Leona

Leona sighed as she listened to Volaren. It was never to soon for her, the later the better in her books. Once they reached his home, she walked in with him gazing round before sitting herself down. Volaren listened carefully as Leona started to open up to him about her past. The more he listened, more he realized that where he started out in life wasn't nearly as bad as Leona's. Though as his life progressed things became more dark and painful. Taking a sip of his tea, Volaren responded to her second statement. "I will say this my starting point in my life was nowhere near as bad as yours. I could've became a politician or a scholar, or hell, even a scientist; but nope, I wanted to be a warrior. Sometimes I look back and wish I made different decisions, but alas I can't change the past. Same for what is done, is done. The only thing we can do is move forward and make better choices.'' Sipping on his to clear his throat, Volaren continued. "Please, continue with your story."

@Kiowa

Leona

Leona nodded lightly as she listened to him. They were kind words and she took them to heart, she was less afraid to go into detail of what had happened, along with what she was also still doing. But part of her knew that she may be judged, no matter how kind Volaren was to her. "I began taking work from anyone and everyone, to get rid of those who were causing trouble to them." She spoke harshly and with a sigh as her pupils thinned as if she was a lion on a hunt, they never left Volaren however. "That's when I met him, strapping and handsome man, nothing like I'd seen before. That's how Felix came along, until he left. I went to hunt him down, give him the pain he gave me until I found out he'd died. So I raised Felix on my own." Leona sniffed slightly, she still loved him no matter how badly he'd treated her. Taking a sip from her tea her sight fell the to the table.

Felix

Felix had been to the tavern and left. There wasn't much of interest going on inside except for the occasional person ordering a drink or playing a game of darts, so he decided to find something else to do. Or atleast avoid his mother and Volaren for the longest amount of time he could. He smelt the air before getting a wif of perfume or what he atleast thought was perfume. His eyes darted about seeing Melody, he smiled like a Chesire cat before bounding up to her and walking by her side. "What's a little thing like you doing round here?" Her asked with a pleasant and charming smile, clearly he was too big for his boots.

@Kasuu

Volaren saw eye to eye with Leona as she revealed her past. To be honest it wasn't as bad as she led him to believe, but still he knew she did very unsavory things in order for her to make a living. Same for him too, but he figured his past might be a bit darker than hers; at least she had a son to care for and raise, him, well he didn't have that luxury. Looking directly at Leona, Volaren decided to speak again. "I see. Well to be completely honest it wasn't as bad as you led me to be, but still I can tell from your tone that you lived a very rough and dangerous life. Same for myself."

Volaren rested his left arm on the small table the two were sitting at, taking off his gauntlets he rolled up his sleeve underneath his armor and pointed to the three scars on his forearm. "These are where I was injected with some foul decoctions, mixed up by Lothren's most esteemed and secretive alchemists and mages. I joined Lothren's military at the age of 20, ready to serve my city state against any enemy. By the time I was 30, I accomplished many things, mostly surviving an ambush set up by some Orcs and their chieftain. I was the only survivor out of 20 elves. I barely escaped with my life, but not before killing at least 15 of the brutes. For my actions I was awarded many medals, and that's when my life in the special forces began. I'm sure you've heard of the Night's Raven's, a shadowy organization within the Lothren special forces. I was a member of that very elite group, but it came at a price", Volaren looking at Leona, pointed to his pitch black eyes.

Melody's gaze shifted as she turned her head up to the rather looming figure that had approached her. She shifted the book in her arms and let her eyes each the second beast-kin she has encounter. This wasn't Leona, that much she knew unless the Lioness had the ability to grow a few inches as well as a mane. She nodded to him politely, her feet continuing along as she wished to make it to the market before it would eventually run out of the quality good or even possibly close for the day. So she kept her face with the man keeping in tow beside her. It was true, she usually did oil down her hair with a concoction of oils to keep the thick curls from getting too rowdy.

"You know, I could happen to ask you something similar."

She smiled faintly as she let her fingertips tap lightly against the book.

Leonas vision cast upon Volaren as he continued his story. Her snout rose as he explained the amount of torture and pain he'd been through. It put her in her place slightly, that she didn't have much compared to him to complain about, a few soft nods came from her as she gave a soft smile. Wait a smile? She didn't mean that she found it funny or amusing in anyway, she just felt comfortable, it had been a while since she'd sat down and had a proper conversation with someone that didn't include her work or someone getting on her nerves. "I have had a few encounters with them. Perhaps not ones as you, but I've seen them." Her hands crossed over again across her chest as she took a breath in. "From what you've told me, I need to ask something of you. Something you are welcome to refuse."

Felix

Felix smirked to her, but kept his face forward as they walked. He wasn't to sure however what to say to her statement. He was normally quick to his words but something had stumped him. Why was he here? He'd come to see his mother plenty of times, but there was something else he'd come for. He wasn't sure what just yet however. "Well, I-.little thing like me is just a travelling charmer." He shook his head. Not his best line to say at least. He could have come up with something better, but oh well. Perhaps his luck would turn sooner rather than later. @Kasuu

Volaren was surprised that Leona was enjoying herself so much listening to his story about his life. She did mention that she met some members of the Night's Raven's, but sounded vague. He was just glad open up to somebody about his past. When she mentioned a favor, Volaren peaked up a bit. It has been a long time since someone ever asked a favor from him. Hearing this Volaren finished his tea, and said, "I'm all ears Leona, go ahead and ask."

Leona

Rubbing her forehand with her hand as she began leaning onto the table in-front, her back arched over as the hair on her back stood up like tiny needles. Looking up to Volaren her eyes were full of fear and slight sadness before she spoke. "I need you to watch my son.." Shaking her head she stood up from the chair beginning to pace around the room. One of her hands was rubbing on the top of her neck, taking in a breath her heart began to beat a lot faster than usual, it wasn't normal for her to become worked up so quickly yet it was if someone had flipped a switch. "I had a letter arrive a few days ago, I don't know exactly who from but I have a hunch. I'm expecting them and I'm not sure if I'll be back..."
