Sound of Silence

Where on Earth music is full of cultural and personal importance, on Bheesaide it has literal life. Entities known as "songs", given shape in the multiverse, appear in Bheesaide when summoned by powerful individuals called Musicians. Throughout history, not only daily life but warfare and sport have been shaped by the presence of Songs and their partner Musicians. Together, they conquer nations and unite the masses under a common banner. Citizens of the seven nations all strive to become the greatest of their kind, aiming for a place as one of the eight Conductors that guide the world's politics.

There has always been a mass of noise pollution to the north, coincidentally called the Northern Noise. No one is shocked by its lethality, nor by the unwillingness of any nation to explore it. What is surprising, however, is the sudden appearance of a zone of pure silence that has recently been detected in the storm. The explorers and scientists of Bheesaide are proposing grants to explore this development, and requesting youth with a talent for Song work to join them in an expedition north. It will be the largest undertaking of its time, a real moment for the history books. One must wonder what lies in store in the zone of silence...

One team has been hired by the Conductor's Hall to pursue answers in the zone of silence. They are convening in Classic, Rock to take a boat along Soul and Classic's shores and towards the Northern Noise. With them are all manner of specialists, from researchers to combatants, should the Northern Noise disguise a greater threat. With orders to return with what they can discover, the team convenes at a small cafe in the city, mere hours away from their journey into the unknown. What awaits them may be heaven or it may be hell, but it is certain that they will find much more than they set out for.

The team is gathering, what are you waiting for?

THE CITY OF CLASSIC, ROCK - PORTSIDE

Behind tussled hair bobbed a blue-green light. Gentle and calming though it was, the two were moving at a hurried pace up and down the dock, eclipsed in all other parts by stacks of boxes and luggage. The tall, somewhat thin man that bore the weight looked like each step would be his last. He awkwardly shuffled up the ramp that creaked beneath his feet onto the deck of a strangely archaic ship; the kind of thing you'd see pirates aboard in the films. Of no help at all was a small being--clearly a Song--little more than an orb with huge eyes and ears, clinging to the man's side. From the cobblestone port, a harsh voice sent him scrambling, "You're behind, Devin. If things don't look ship-shape, we'll have to keelhaul you!"

The voice was followed by a laugh that rang with some sort of sadistic glee at the woman's own joke. It came from a woman with voluminous blonde curls, dressed in black lace far too heavy and ornate for this sleepy port. Aside from the commotion they caused, the port and the nearby cafe were a pleasant scene. Young Musicians tried to impress locals with fresh, untested Songs, and many were accompanied by actual music to show their worth. Devin, the frantic Musician, was stopped with a firm, bandaged hand on his shoulder. The seven foot tall being in a trench coat and mummy wrapping lifted the young man's boxes from his hands and deposited them on the deck without issue. The man glided up and down the ramp to the ship while Devin looked on, mouth agape. His song bobbed beside him, eyes shining.

Devin allowed the silent interloper to take over the task, resigning himself to the comfortable cafe that formed the border between Classic and the expansive coast. Sea breeze washed gently over their world, bringing with it the feeling of a fresh start. The young man and his Song sat down, punctuated by another barked command from the regal looking woman, "
Letting Killroy take over already, eh? Well I suppose you've got the trip ahead of you. Make sure you take good notes to repay us, eh?"

"
Yes, ma'am!," Devin responded, respectful or fearful of this woman who looked no older than him, "I'll bring so much back that you'll grow tired of reading it."

The woman laughed, "
I highly doubt that we'll bemoan the length, kid. Just make sure that Little Talks there plays nice and doesn't run off."

Devin placed a hand on the head of the tiny Song, waiting for the rest of the hired team to arrive.

RT sat on a seat in the posh looking yacht, hands folded neatly in her lap and back straight. Her gaze was set straight forward and focus. Beside her sat an official looking man with a white powdered wig. Musician Mozart. He was asked by Conductor Bach to make sure Rolling Thunder actually made her way to the special group. Now she was on a boat on her way to Classic, Rock so one could probably guess Conductor Bach got his way.

The yacht pulled into the dock, a voice announcing their arrival. RT stood up, smoothing out the wrinkles in her dress and turned to the Musician as he still sat. "Now listen young pupil. Remember thee as your own person. Do not let other command you due to you being a Song. Now i bid thee farewell." RT gave a simple nod and tilted her head slightly, bowing before the man. With that the Song turned on her bare feet and made her way down the ramp, her dressed slightly falling off the sides and into the water but not seeming to get wet. All around her were people. They all seemed rather calm. Some where walking up and down the ship ramps while others sat at a little coffee place down the way. As the yacht pulled out of the dock, RT looked over the shoulder, watching her ride leave. This was it. She couldn't back out now.

RT hitched up her dress and started making her way up dock. She was getting a few stares and looks, but it didn't bug RT. The Song was rather used to the attention she got when Musicians did see her. Her white eyes looked up at the sky. It seemed rather cheery. The girl took a deep breath and closed her eyes, taking in the voices around her. Shouts, whispers, laughter... It all seemed to mix well together to create a welcoming environment. And now she stood, silently waiting for others to show.

((Sorry it's crap. They'll get better. I swear))

Classic City

Jon had been exploring the city for a bit and doing a bit of sightseeing, Not everyday I get to explore one of the most popular cities in the world!, He thought to himself. Jon had arrived a couple days before everyone else so he could explore and sight see before everyone arrived. Both he and (just gunna abbreviate his songs name to War from now on) War had enjoyed exploring the large city and all that it had. As far as he knew everyone was supposed to meet near the docks. He wasn't sure when, so he just decided to arrive around midday.

When he arrived he spotted a tall guy with a small song with him, it seemed to match the description he was given of the researcher he was supposed to meet for this expedition. He walked up and introduced himself, "I assume you are Devin Pikes, our own little researcher for this journey? I'm Jon and this is War," He said, introducing himself and his Song, "He doesn't talk much and prefers to be silent most of the time, So don't be to offended if he doesn't respond much." Jon said, explaining his Songs quiet behavior.

David watched as people steered away whenever they got too close to Superstition, but some little children giggled when they saw that it was wearing a necktie. "Don't worry little buddy, you've got me." he told the black cat as it padded towards him. It was kind of sad to think that the people had the belief of having bad luck when they pass by a black cat. He's been with one for literally quite a while, and nothing bad happened to him. In fact, he had to thank Superstition for being with him, because it was his Song. He grinned down at the Song and gestured with his head. "Let's go meet up with the others, yeah?" he half-asked. The cat stared at him for a moment, before flicking its tail at the air and heading over to the way David had pointed to.

He followed the Song as it made is way towards a small group of people already there. It stopped a few feet from them and then sat down wordlessly. David crouched down next to it and softly patted its head before straightening up once more. One of the people already here was conversing with someone else, and another one also heading towards them. They all had interesting-looking songs. "Superstition, what do you think will happen today? How will it go?" he asked the small Song. When he glanced at it, the cat had its eyes closed, but was still sitting up. He just assumed that it was trying to imagine something. David grinned at it and shook his head. He should try wondering why it had a necktie next time.

The woman in black welcomed over a familiar face, beckoning in a sweeping gesture towardsMozart. The woman gave a short curtsy to the man, and allowed her eyes to wonder over the song. Holding back a grin, she greeted the Song in kind. With a look of kindness not seen directed towards the researcher, Lisa Lisa addressed them, "I trust that your trip went well, Musician Mozart. And you as well, Rolling Thunder. Anything I can do for you to make the journey more comfortable?"

"
My name is Lisa Lisa, I am the coordinator for this trip and will be directing you all from the Conductor's Hall," she explained, trying to gauge Rolling Thunder's abilities without being overt about it. She glanced towards Killroy, looking for his thoughts on the matter and finding a tensed frame and steady stare. She attempted to be accommodating to the Song, to help her feel welcomed in this unusual case. There were few other known independent Songs, and Lisa more than anyone wanted to see them integrated well into society. In her mind, it began with this mission, the first exploration of the Northern Noise.

As others began filling in the space, Devin looked over the roster and stood up to greet the others. Lisa Lisa was off with another important figure, leaving him to greet the others. As the researcher collected himself, another musician managed to break the ice. Devin smiled and acknowledged the man, especially interested in hearing about War. Similarly, he introduced himself, "
I am Devin, and I am accompanied by Little Talks. He's also on the quiet side, much better at listening. Nice to meet you, Jon and War."

The small song showed himself behind Devin, eyes wide in his reception of the much larger, much more intimidating song.

Spotting others gathering, Devin mentioned, "
And the one arriving appears to be David. I'll see about including him as well..."

Immediately after trailing off, Devin's voice rose to a call, "
David Raze, right? I'm Devin, and this is Jon."

Wind gazed through, Neal sat back in the corner the vehicle, Victory Road leaned against his neck standing on his shoulder; Insecurities was sleeping on Neal’s lap. The car stopped the engine as an elder man opened the driver’s door; the driver stepped out, breathed deep in and opened wide his arms as he looked into the sky, “We here kido” the man took a look to Neal into the car. ”…Thanks” Neal took some coins out of his pocket and gave them to the man as a sign of his gratefulness. Carefully shook Insecurities’ back his hand as Victory Road flew out of the car. Insecurities woke up and got out of the vehicle, Neal followed him.

Neal and company moved onto the port, walked forward looking for, the group of persons they were hired to join, in the look for unknown lands. Neal looked everywhere, turned his head left and right, then he saw a small gathering of persons, all with Songs. ”That must be it…” Neal thought before walking toward the group.

”Greetings… You must be the exploration group if I’m not wrong, hired by Conductor’s Hall…” Neal spoke softly as Insecurities immediately got hidden behind Neal.

David blinked in surprise when the man acknowledged him. "Yes, I'm David." he confirmed. "And nice to meet you," He nodded to them. "Devin and Jon." Superstition looked at the assembled Musicians and Songs, its gaze curious. "Now, now, remember the old saying." The black cat pawed his boot in annoyance and then padded up to Devin and Jon. "That's Superstition." David told them. "The tie can be misleading, but he isn't exactly the best businesscat. Far from it, actually." It was true. His Song would constantly try to scatter things, especially papers and pencils. He jolted slightly when he suddenly heard someone speak behind him. He turned around to see who was speaking to him, or rather, them.

"Erm," he began. "Yeah, that's us." David was so used to greeting people with a simple 'hi' or a 'hello', that it unnerved him when people spoke fancily. Either way, he'll still reply to them. "Are you part of this group too?" He didn't exactly know who he was going to be with, but maybe he did now. Or rather, he will. "Ah, um, I'm David Raze." He stuck his hand out for a handshake to the newcomer rather awkwardly and he could've sworn he heard Superstition snicker at that.

“Insecurities” lowered down his head behind Neal’s legs as “Victory Road” started flying around the whole group. ”Calm down, you two” Neal whispered as a youngster introduced himself as David to them, replying his [Neal’s] question. Neal looked unto them for a second, a bit skeptical, he nodded as acceptance of his answer and reply to his question at the same time.

”The name is Neal… Neal Tusk…. Insecurites at my back and Victory Road flying above you” he presented himself and his songs.

Rolling thunder look over at the women speaking. She had tight curls the memorized RT with each movement. Just a simple head nod made them bounce all over. "I'm fine. Thank you for asking." She gave a small bow before walking over to the group. Each person was making their introductions as well as introducing their songs. She felt a little uncomfortable being a tad bit different but she didnt let it show. She white eyes quickly scanned each person, memorizing their names by placing them each on a note of the scale.

One of the songs caught her eyes. A little black cat with a necktie. Rolling thunder lower herself, crouching on the ground as she held out her hand, beckoning the cat to come over. "Here little kitty." She cooed, her voice sounding like it own song. She then leaned more, stretching out her arm and gently petting the cat behind the ear.

Sorry this is crap. And that i was gone for a while and didn't write a reply. I was going through writers block and ran out of antidepressants ontop of that.

"What interesting Songs...," Devin trailed off, looking over all of the arrivals and their partners. "...Though I am curious why everyone here was selected..."

After a brief pause, Devin laughed and corrected himself, "Sorry! Where are my manners? It's nice to meet you all. I'm sure it won't be long now before we head out, can I help any of you take care of anything before we leave?"

Little Talks found a place behind Devin to hide for the time, unsure of all of these new Songs in the area. The tiny Song peeked out at Rolling Thunder, trying to understand what she was all about during the commotion. The Musician looked back towards the surveying agents, who seemed to be making final preparations on the boat. Crates of food, maps, tools for survival, all sorts of goods were stowed away in the ship's hold. Aboard, a swarthy man in a massive white coat was going through his own set of tests with this vessel. Between his grizzled appearance and spectacular navy officer's cap, this man could only have been the captain of the small crew hired to transport the Musicians to their destination. He and a few men and women were ensuring that whatever Lisa Lisa and Killroy did was corrected so that their research trip wouldn't end before it began.

The lady Musician was speaking with Musician Mozart between themselves, apparently taking care of urgent business before things could progress.
