The Rise of the IMC

In the early 21st humanity began to look to the stars as a very real possibility in further colonization. However, with the available technology, the only immediate worlds for colonization were those within our own system. It was around this time that Hammond Engineering (founded by Dr. Hammond), began to design and construct large mech units known as Titans, and look into new planetary surveying technology, and materials science. Before long, the Jump Drive was invented, which folded space, and allowed ships to travel vast distances in the blink of an eye. With the ability to explore further into the galaxy for the very first time, colonists were sent to nearby star systems in search of habitable worlds, with limited success. Habitable worlds found were few and far between, but the worlds that were found were colonized, and they’d become what were known as the Core Worlds.

At the dawn of the 22nd Century, Hammond Engineering went through numerous mergers and re-branding, becoming the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (or IMC for short). The IMC would become a dominant force within the Core Systems, gaining a military prowess, and engaging in multiple conflicts and engage in an arms race with the production of the first Spectre fighting units. Their conflicts in the Core Systems resulted in a total victory, and the IMC would establish itself in the Core Worlds with an iron fist.

Discovery of the Frontier
In the 22nd Century, a rare discovery suddenly entered play, when a dense zone of space which held a vast number of solar systems and habitable planets. This became known as the Frontier. While habitable planets had been discovered prior to this, never before had so many been found within such close proximity to each other. The excitement at such a discovery prompted the IMC to immediately funded expeditions to explore these systems, with the hopes of colonization in the future. Initial settlement of the Frontier was driven by public interest and veterans of expeditions of the Core Systems Conflicts of old. Ships of colonists were sent to this frontier with high hopes. but despite initial interests from Earth and the other Core Worlds, the interest in the Frontier began to dwindle to a point where the IMC no longer funded expeditions out here, and began focusing on its corporate empire back within the Core Worlds, and Earth, especially when more conflicts were starting to arise and take priority. The colonists that had already settled on the Frontier were never recalled.

Despite the IMC abandoning efforts to settle on the Frontier, the colonists that had been left behind thrived in their new home, quickly establishing numerous towns, homes, cities, and finding ways to sustain a new way of life here. This way of life continued uninterrupted by Earth, and the Core Systems for decades.

When the IMC once more focused on the Frontier again, and sent ships out to examine what had become of the people they had left behind, they were astonished to find that against all odds and expectations, the newly colonized worlds of the Frontier were flourishing, with cities and outposts on hundreds of worlds, and moons, and vast resources had been discovered. With consumer demand back in the Core Systems struggling to be met, the IMC once more focused on the Frontier, imposing eminent domain. They declared that since they had initially funded the expeditions and given the loans to the colonists of the early days of the Frontier, they declared that land and resources were rightfully property of the IMC. This was established with large fleets of military units suddenly jumping in, to take control of almost all the Frontier. They quickly established new manufacturing locations, mining operations, and a lot of the time, this resulted in displacing colonists who had established life on the Frontier.

The Titan Wars

(The Titan Wars was the first major conflict of the Frontier between Frontier Colonists, who called themselves the Frontier Militia, and the IMC)

This sudden claim from the IMC was not welcomed by those who had lived for so long without aid of the IMC. But any resistance was quickly met with forced martial law, or worse. This brutal campaign was led by Vice Admiral Marcus Graves, and his Executive Officer James MacAllan. Conflicts broke out between the IMC and the newly branded Frontier Militia in a series of conflicts that became known as the Titan Wars, which ended in a victory for the IMC. In the war, the IMS Odyssey, the ship James MacAllan and Marcus Graves served upon would experience a mutiny, which resulted in the ship crashing on the planet Troy, and the disappearance of James MacAllan.

(The Titan Wars ended with an IMC victory, but this did not stop the Frontier Militia from continuing to fight back.)

While the Titan Wars resulted in a defeat for the Frontier Militia, conflicts did not stop, and the IMC found itself constantly butting heads with the Militia. While the Militia were not as organized as the IMC, their vast resources and familiarity of the Frontier allowed them assault locations quickly, and effectivly. They quickly became a force to be reckoned with, fighting for independence from the IMC, who have taken their lands, and exploited their resources, viewing the IMC as nothing more than invaders. The IMC on the other hand was quick to brand the Militia as terrorists, who were ungrateful for the fact that without the IMC funding all those years ago, none of these colonists would have been where they are today.

The Frontier War

A217F460-DD73-4B01-B15D-6BEAEB37AD38.jpeg
(The Frontier War began at the dawn of the 23rd Century, quickly becoming the bloodiest conflict of the Frontier.)

With conflicts with the Militia on the rise, the IMC soon began to feel the true fighting force of the Militia, hiring a group of mercenary pilots known as the Apex Predators to aid in their fight. The Apex Predators are led by Kuben Blisk, who’s first contract provided him with enough money to retire to a tropical paradise, but with the promise of more money, and the opportunity to lay down some serious carnage, Blisk would become one of the most prominent mercenaries on the IMC front. With the turn of the century, the Frontier War officially began. Details about the beginning conflicts of the war are sketchy, but around 2211, tides began to turn in favor of the Frontier Militia.

Marcus Graves, now the Commander-in-Chief of Frontier Command for the IMC would lead many campaigns against the 1st Militia Fleet, hounding them at every turn, wearing them down. These conflicts would lead to the death of General Anderson of the Militia, giving command of the Militia Maurader Corps (M-COR) to Sarah Briggs. She would lead an attack on an IMC refueling facility known as the Fracture Operation. Successful in stealing fuel vital to the IMC, they retreated, with the IMC pursuing them, which would lead to the discover of Colony G21, where ex-officer James MacAllan was discovered to be still alive. The IMC immediately attempted an unsuccessful extraction of James MacAllan, who had defected to the Frontier Militia, which resulted in a massacre of Frontier Civilians.

The Militia would eventually go on the offensive when James MacAllen would download the computer core from the ruins of the downed IMS Odyssey. The core revealed vital information about the IMC Refueling Station, known as Demeter.

The Battle of Demeter
”Marcus, they trusted me as an ex-IMC Officer, and they’re gonna need someone after I’m gone. You told me fifteen years ago onboard the Odyssey to take the ship, now I’m giving you the same choice.” -James MacAllan
C492F3DD-A4C8-400B-9309-CF8258989645.jpeg
(The Battle of Demeter was the first major victory for the Frontier Militia)

The refueling station of Demeter was one of the IMC’s most crucial outposts of the entire Frontier. It was through this outpost that the IMC was able to sustain its forces in the Frontier, and rely on support from the Core Worlds. Knowing that the outposts destruction would deal a crippling blow to the IMC, the Miitia unleashed a massive attack on the outpost, lead on the ground by James MacAllan himself.

The battle for Demeter was long and brutal, being fought on the ground, and in space. After rallying Militia Pilots in the battle, James MacAllan managed to fight his way into the reactor cores of the refueling station, locking himself inside. MacAllan manually disabled the heat regulation systems of the refueling station, resulting in the reactor becoming unstable. Blisk, realizing that the IMC was quickly losing this battle, quickly departed from the battle, and was one of the few survivors in the aftermath. With the impending destruction, drop ships of the IMC retreated to a safe distance. MacAllan also overrid the commands to send evacuation ships to retrieve the pilots on the ground of Demeter.

James MacAllan established a final communication with Marcus Graves of the IMC, pleading for him to reconsider his stance with the IMC, and to join the Militia. Shortly afterward, the reactors exploded, causing a chain reaction which devastated the remaining reactors on Demeter. All forces that were left on the ground of the IMC and Frontier Militia were KIA, including James MacAllan.

The destruction of Demeter dealt a crippling blow to the IMC, and the remaining fleets of the IMC became known as the Remnant Fleet. Cut off from the Core Systems, the IMC now had to depend on the resources of the Frontier to sustain its military forces. The destruction of the depot dealt such a blow, that by the time the Battle of Typhon happened five years later, the depot had still not been repaired. While Demeter’s surface was already radioactive due to the planet’s proximity of a giant red star planet, the destruction of the fuel facilities rendered the planet nearly uninhabitable.

Marcus Graves was appalled when he learned that the IMC had overridden commands to evacuate the forces on the ground at Demeter, and following MacAllan’s death, Graves defected from the IMC and joined the Militia, quickly establishing himself as a Field Commander of the Militia. Numerous other humans would join Graves in his defection from the IMC to the Militia.

Post-Demeter Conflicts
With the first major blow dealt on the IMC and momentum suddenly favoring the Militia would embark on a campaign against numerous facilities under control of the IMC, which were responsible for the production of the faction’s Spectres and other weapons development. Intel provided by Marcus Graves, and other ex-IMC officers provided key locations for crucial spots to hit, while the IMC scrambled to reorganize its fleets, following its sudden cutoff of the Core Systems.

This led to the assault on Hammond Robotics Corporate HQ production plant. While these strikes hurt the production for the IMC’s forces, they remained a dominant force on the Frontier. The IMC continued to design new forces to join service for their military factions. This included designs for the Stalker, Tick, Reaper, and Simulacrum forces.

(Ticks; mobile bombs that seemed out enemy targets and detonated in their proximity)

In a move to help regroup their forces, the IMC set up a Fleet Operations Base, and the Remnant Fleet would engage in multiple resource raids in an effort to sustain their war effort with the Militia in a conflict which now saw the two sides almost evenly matched. With the IMC now suffering a shortage in humans among its frontlines, its reliance on Spectres and other robotic infantry grew even more, and with its robotic infantry lacking the resourcefulness of actual human soldiers, as well as units like Spectres being prone to enemy hacking, the IMC began to lose ground in the Frontier War at an alarming rate.

The Militia on the other hand had transformed from a group of loosely-organized rebels, to a professional military and had begun to build their own titans and fleet ships, no longer needing to rely on the IMC’s resources and supplies to keep themselves supplied.

Operation: Broadsword and Special Operation 217
Operation: Broadsword began a widespread push agains the IMC to drive them from the Frontier. In the five years following the destruction of Demeter, the Militia had managed to take back nearly a quarter of the Frontier. One of the most important events that took place during Broadword, happened with the 9th Militia Fleet, during Special Operation 217.

After destroying 29 IMC Scientific Research facilities along the frontier, and retrieving a Time Gauntlet, Sarah Briggs green-lit Special Operation 217, and sent Major Eli Anderson to investigate the isolated IMC world of Typhon. Shortly after his departure, all contact with him were lost. Expecting light defenses, the Militia were surprised to encounter heavy anti-orbital weaponry, and suffered many losses, including their newly christened flagship, the MCS James MacAllan. While initial battles on Typhon resulted in heavy Militia losses, initial reports on Special Operation 217 being a failure were inaccurate.

Unbeknownst to the Militia, a class-3 rifleman by the name of Jack Cooper continued to carry out the Operation after the loss of Pilot Captain Tai Lastimosa. Lastimosa transferred his codes that linked him to his titan, to Cooper, and Cooper became the pilot of Titan BT-7274. Through their efforts, Cooper discovered that the IMC had uncovered an alien artifact of unknown origin on Typhon, known as the Fold Weapon. General Marder of the IMC had refurbished it, and intended to use it to annihilate Militia planets one by one, until the Militia surrendered, or were completely wiped out.

The Battle of Typhon
F0F2DC38-57F2-4830-86C2-B8075F796367.jpeg
The Militia spent a couple days regrouping after their initial losses at Typhon.Once Cooper made contact with the Militia, and told them of the Fold Weapon, the 9th Militia Fleet launched a desperate attack in an effort to stop the weapon from firing by any means necessary. An assault force, led by the 6-4 and Jack Cooper would attack the IMS Draconis. The resulting battle was brutal, and resulted in the deaths of many pilots, and the destruction of many titans on both sides of the field. Jack and his titan would end up taking the Fold Weapon, but would shortly be captured by Kuben Blisk and his mercenaries.

The Militia began an assault on the orbital defense systems guarding Typhon, and before too long, Cooper would escape captivity and regroup with the Militia. Cooper and his Titan made one final assault on the Fold Weapon, but were unsuccessful in preventing the initiation of the firing process. In an act of desperation, Cooper and BT-7274 launched themselves at the Fold Weapon, to ensure the destruction of the device before it could fire. BT-7274 saved Cooper’s life, and sacrificed himself overloading his cores, and causing the weapon to misfire. This resulted not only in the destruction of the Fold Weapon, but the Destruction of Typhon. Cooper and the remaining Militia ships narrowly escaped.

(The Destruction of the Fold Weapon resulted in the complete destruction of Typhon)

The IMC once more found themselves on a retreat, and the Militia promoted Jack Cooper with the full commendations of a combat pilot. With the loss of its super weapon, and the destruction of Demeter five years prior, the IMC were starting to feel pressure from a new standpoint. If things didn’t change, a victory for the Militia seemed likely...

Sarah Briggs

139D6B66-EBA7-4423-9596-056EA0738C4E.jpeg
Age: 64 (2241)
Status: Active
Sarah Briggs serves as the Chief Field Commander of the Frontier Militia. Formally Commander of the elite branch of the Militia, known as M-COR, Sarah’s bravery and commitment to the fight was one of the driving forces behind the Militia’s victories at battles like Demeter.

Growing up, Sarah was rebellious and short-tempered, who hated the IMC and would do whatever it took to see the IMC driven from the Frontier, and brought to justice for its transgressions. However, after the death of her superior, General Anderson, she quickly developed a much cooler head and a more mature role to her position as Commander. While she was never really comfortable taking such a position for herself, the way she handled herself as a Commander was not lost on her peers, and she inevitably took it on full-time.

As a child, the IMC displaced many members of her family, and even killed some. She vowed revenge, and refused to rest until the IMC was brought to justice. She joined the Militia at a very young age, and for most of her career, served in Covert Operation, before the death of General Anderson put her in the ranks of Command. In the days leading up to the Battle of Demeter, she found it hard to trust officers like James MacAllen, who were formerly of the IMC, but she eventually learned to work right along side them, and their cooperation pushed the Militia into some of the best positions it had ever been in during the Frontier War.

Following the Battle or Demeter, she became one of the most respected officers of the Frontier Militia, becoming Commander of the newly formed Special Recon Squadron, eventually becoming one of the chief strategists for Militia operations throughout the Frontier.

James MacAllan
84ECB4F0-CC3B-46B2-8019-4C2D3B1AAB12.jpeg

Age: 44
Status: Deceased

James MacAllan was one of the most influential soldiers of the Frontier Militia. A veteran of the Titan Wars for the IMC, there are scattered reports that James MacAllen led a mutiny aboard his ship, the IMS Odyssey, before going off the radar for more than a decade. James was later discovered alive by the Frontier Militia. Angered by the IMC’s attack on the colony and its needless massacre of civilians there, he joined the ranks of the Frontier Militia, taking command of the Militia at the request of Militia Commander Bish, due to his prior experiences with the IMC. While Sarah Briggs was reluctant to trust the ex-IMC officer, he eventually gained the young Commander’s trust in the fight with the IMC.

MacAllan provided priceless information on several key locations to strike the IMC, including Demeter itself. The resources he provided, and experience he had with the IMC proved invaluable in the campaign he led with the Militia. He personally rallied the Frontier Militia during the Battle of Demeter, and fought with the Militia forces on the ground against the IMC. This battle however was a one-way trip as MacAllan manually caused Demeter’s fuel reactors to become unstable. The resulting explosion killed him, and all remaining IMC and Militia ground forces, cutting the IMC off from the Core Systems, and rendering Demeter near uninhabitable.

Despite his short tenure with the Frontier Militia, his actions which helped the Militia gain the ground it did, and his actions on Demeter cemented him as a Militia legend and War Hero. The first Militia designed carrier ship was named after him, and there have been numerous Militia Pilot squads who have named their squadrons after him.

Marcus Graves

Age: 72 (2241)
Status: Active
Marcus Graves is the Commander in Chief of the Frontier Militia. Like James MacAllan, Marcus Graves was formerly of the IMC, before defecting to the cause of the Militia. He was actually MacAllan’s superior officer, and close friend, during their tenure in the IMC, serving as Vice Admiral for the IMC during the Titan Wars, and one of the most prominent officers of the IMC during the early stages of the Frontier War.

He spent a lot of the early years hounding and chasing the Militia when they found James MacAllan in hiding in the days leading up to the Battle of Demeter. His tactics were often deemed overly risky for the forces of the IMC, and too lenient for Militia forces. He was also known for trying to keep civilian losses minimal, going as far as to rebuke Kuben Blisk for shooting down Civilian transports, when they were defenseless.

Graves was present during the Battle of Demeter, directing operations from orbit while Blisk tried to stop MacAllan on the ground. However as the battle progressed, and the ultimatum that the battle was lost became clear, Graves ordered an immediate evacuation and withdrawal from Demeter. However, IMC manifestation Spyglass overrode his commands for an evacuation and immediately directed the IMC fleet to flee from Demeter, abandoning its ground forces to their doom (one of the few known survivors of this battle was Kuben Blisk) The loss at Demeter, and the aftermath was not easily forgotten by Graves, who was appalled that they’d just left their ground forces to die on Demeter. In the final moments of the battle, MacAllan contacted Graves and pled for the IMC Officer to join the Militia cause. It was the last time the two friends ever spoke to each other.

The loss at Demeter, the abandoning of their ground forces, and the loss of his friend was too much for him. Marcus Graves cast aside his ranks and position with the IMC and together, with a sizable portion of forces from the IMC, joined with the Frontier Militia. Marcus Graves offered his knowledge of key IMC locations, and commanding experience, and quickly established himself as a respected officer of the Frontier Militia. He personally led multiple assaults on IMC Spectre production facilities, and corporate headquarters.

His reputation eventually earned him a rank similar to that of his former IMC days. While he personally believed Sarah Briggs was a more valid candidate as the Commander in Chief for the Militia forces, she preferred the more personal work with Militia ground forces, and said that his experience as Vice Admiral with the IMC left him as the better candidate for such a position with the Frontier Militia. It was a position he accepted with hesitation, but has done everything in his power to honor the role. He continues to lead the Militia to the best of his ability.

Jack Cooper
849D0A0C-E995-4701-A423-1A9DEEB09B9C.jpeg
Age: 29 (2216)
Status: Unknown
Jack Cooper was a former Militia Rifleman, who was largely responsible for the Militia victory for the Battle of Typhon. He is known during this time for his incredible ability to quickly adapt into the role of a pilot, despite lacking sufficient training and certification. His actions revealed the presence of the Fold Weapon, which threatened to destroy the Frontier Militia worlds. Following the battle of Typhon, and the destruction of the Fold Weapon, he was granted full certification as combat pilot, and became a living legend among the Frontier Militia.

He would lead numerous more assaults along the Frontier against the IMC, but went missing in action around the year 2224.

Cheng “Bish” Lorck
CA7B2872-6A89-4E85-9E4A-1C7326B53F92.png

Age: 42
Status: Deceased
“Bish” Lorck was a Combat Intelligence Specialist for the Frontier Militia. He was trained as an electrical engineer for the IMC, and was born, and raised on Earth. However, after getting screwed over by the IMC on a Frontier job placement opportunity, which cost him everything, he wound up stranded on the Frontier. Finding himself in a bar, and in the middle of a bar fight, his fighting abilities caught the attention of the then new Frontier Militia, and they took him into custody.

Realizing his worth to the Militia, and the knowledge he possessed of the IMC, the Militia made him their chief Intelligence Officer, and he offered his services, hacking into IMC systems during combat, and offering tactical assistance to ground soldiers. It was a role he held for nearly a decade, however he was KIA during an IMC raid around 2219.

Spyglass
5F17BA53-09E1-43D2-B608-AC3DF7CB262B.jpeg
Age: N/A
Status: Active
Spyglass represents the physical manifestation of the IMC’s computational network identity, a network identity that manifests in multiple bodies in the body of a modified Spectre; a body that is considered expendable. Spyglass handles logistics, navigation, deployment, and communication between all IMC forces on the Frontier. They are also capable of hacking and providing a general oversight of the field of battle for the IMC.

Spyglass is responsible for determining which targets of the Militia for the IMC to strike. However following the Battle of Demeter, and Spyglass’s founding of the Remnant Fleet, many of Spyglass’s resources split. While Spyglass technically serves as the Vice Admiral of the IMC Fleets, Spyglass has struggled to maintain a level of control over the various divisions within the IMC.

General Marder
05004C5D-AE99-475A-B03E-562C6D2E9D85.jpeg
Age:
80 (2241)
Status: Active
General Marder is the leader of the ARES Division of the IMC. Marder was in charge of the IMC’s research and weapons development during the Frontier War. It was he, who discovered the Fold Weapon which resulted in the destruction of Typhon, and it was he who pushes for progression within the Frontier. He views the Militia as nothing more than a short-sighted mob and a nuisance to be eliminated. While he has pilots under his command, he often resorts to hiring mercenaries to do the dirty work for the IMC, such as the famed Apex Predators.

That’s not to say he isn’t above getting dirty. He was known to subject Militia Prisoners to human experimentation and torture, and has been described as “Murderously pragmatic”, who yearns to be the reason for the potential the future holds in the Frontier. He does not take failure very lightly.

Kuben Blisk
65B092D5-28F3-4E6A-885B-2FFCD9C0E0D5.jpeg
Age: 63 (2241)
Status: Active
Kuben Blisk is the leader of the mercenary group known as the Apex Predators. Working for the highest bidder, he is often seen working for the likes of the IMC, who’s first contract with him had given him enough money to retire to a tropical paradise. However, along with his love for money, is a love for carnage, and Kuben often sees the IMC’s promise of money, and the opportunity to cause some mayhem as too good to pass up.

Blisk served as an advisor to Marcus Graves in the days leading up to the Battle of Demeter, often aiding the troops on the field of battle. However, his approach to battle, and his brutal tactics towards prisoners, and civilians was one that disturbed Marcus Graves. Blisk was assigned to assassinate the ex-IMC Officer James MacAllan, but failed, and MacAllan would go on to provide assistance to the Militia. He also nearly killed Militia Commander, Sarah Briggs during the battle of Airbase Sierra. He would deploy during the battle of Demeter in an attempt to stop MacAllan from sabotaging the fuel reactors, but would ultimately fail, and would evacuate the planet before Militia and IMC forces were forced to flee the area. Blisk was one of the few survivors of the Battle of Demeter who had fought on the ground, and lived.

Blisk was promoted to the rank of Commander in the IMC, and expressed disgust over the defection of Marcus Graves to the Militia. The two butted heads numerous times, but never met on the field of battle. Graves criticized Blisk that as a mercenary, he was no better than a machine; loyal only to its operator. Blisk criticized Graves that with his defection, Graves was not one who could speak of loyalty, and that if he ever met him in battle, he would gladly kill the Militia defector for free.

Blisk would work closely with General Marder during the Battle of Typhoon, as his mercenaries helped Marder ready the Fold Weapon. He personallly captured Militia Pilot Jack Cooper, interrogated him, and later even extended an invitation to the Pilot to join the Apex Predators. Despite the trouble Jack Cooper caused him and his mercanaries, and despite Marder ordering Blisk to kill the pilot, Blisk did not comply.

Blisk continues to offer his services to the IMC for the continued pay, offering his love of carnage, and his experience in the field of battle. His Legion Titan is a Royal Red. His ruthlessness is enough of a legacy for him, and his philosophy is that anything is worth doing for the right price. Despite his hostility, he does hold a respect to pilots who can stand up to him in a fight, respecting their skills and abilities. In his eyes, if you manage to kill him, you’re better. If he kills you, he’s better. However, he views the Militia as nothing more than filthy terrorists who preach freedom and prosperity as an excuse to cause chaos and destruction throughout the Frontier. He’s willingly killed any civilian with even the loosest connections to the Frontier Militia, as a failsafe to kill a possible future Militia soldier. Apart from being a very skilled Pilot, he is skilled with hand-to-hand combat, and is incredibly acrobatic.

Technology of the IMC
The IMC’s Military prowess features its fair share of human soldiers, and technology that only humans can operate, from tanks to titans, but the IMC is also feared for the numerous robotic military units it has conceived over the years. SInce Hammond Robotics was first founded in the 21st Century, the company had always dabbled with the concepts of robotic infantry, but never really started developing it until its first Titans. Once the Titans were developed, it opened up a whole new approach to combat on the frontlines. Here are a few of the Weapon iced units the IMC was able to create in the years leading up to, and during the Frontier War...

BRD-01 Spectres
CD6998F0-2051-40D5-A499-520BF676641F.jpeg

“Fighting the hard fights so you don’t have to.” -IMC Advertising Slogan

Spectres serve as the frontline units of the IMC’s robotic military. Among the first robotic units ever created, they are easily a match for any human soldier, with squads of these easily being able to neutralize such threats, even if outnumbered. Spectres main functions were to serve as pacification and occupation. The development of the Spectre started an arms-race within the Core Worlds, but it is unknown just how many companies attempted to compete with the IMC in developing the robotic infantry units. The Spectre outlived all its competition. They are commonly seen fighting along human soldiers for the IMC on the frontlines, but the IMC has also developed Spectre units that specialize in stealth, and covert missions as snipers, and Spectres which serve as walking bombs, detonated in suicide attacks.

Due to the split politics of both corporate and military input which plagued its development, the Spectre is known for a very big design flaw. The Spectre is vulnerable to hacking, and can be reprogrammed by skilled pilots in a matter of seconds. It is this flaw that the Militia has exploited to capture and reprogram vast numbers of Spectres for its forces. But despite this flaw, the IMC has continued mass producing Spectres over the years, as their prowess in battle can easily turn the tide for any faction. With finely tuned accuracy, the ability to jump vast distances, and no feelings for whether or not they return from a battle, the Spectre is a fearsome unit which earned its right to stay within the ranks of any army. They are even known to have taken down pilots who have underestimated the robotic units.

Stalkers
7A9DA3E0-6180-4E76-8CAE-DB32592B9650.jpeg

Stalkers were the IMC’s answer to the design flaw that plagued Spectres. Fortified with heavier armor and a tighter security system, making them far more difficult to hack, even to the most skilled pilots, they were originally meant to replace Spectres in the field of battle. However with their bulkier armor, they moved considerably slower than the faster Spectres, and the Spectres remained on the field of battle. This didn’t stop the IMC from unleashing the Stalkers onto the field of battle along with them.

Stalkers proved to be incredibly hardy where typical Spectres failed. Their heavier armor made them more prone to withstanding enemy fire, and their accuracy proved to be top-tier to most Spectres. Another pleasant surprise that came with the Stalker was that even when crippled, the Stalker would continue to operate to the best of its ability. The IMC equipped the Stalkers with explosives, which severely crippled Stalkers would detonate, if they were able to. The development of the Stalker proved to be one of the turning points in the IMC’s struggle with the Frontier Militia, though at first, they were harder to supply to their Spectre cousins.

Ticks
F432B771-F54E-4246-8BE9-0A8A2858C178.jpeg
Ticks are one of the most feared units the IMC has ever developed. They were designed for one purpose alone: Seek and destroy. Ticks are suicidal units that are packed with explosives. While pilots have been known to outrun these with the aid of their jump kits, human soldiers without jump kits are not as fortunate. It is hard to outrun these ticks, and even harder to survive the blast radius of these walking bombs.

While they are easy to take out, as their explosive payloads are known to be unstable, the agility of the ticks can make this difficult. While they can attack as a single unit, they have also been known to attack in groups. Enough of these can easily destroy a Titan. While a feared unit, the IMC does not always deploy these as the idea of creating these for the sole purpose of destroying them is not always looked upon favorably by the higher-ups of the IMC.

Reapers were among the first heavy artillery units of the IMC. While still being smaller than a common tank, and being able to be destroyed by ground units, they quickly developed a fearsome reputation for delivering an impressive payload with rapid-firing arc cannons. Despite lacking the firepower of standard Titans, their prowess and tactics made them stiff competition on the battlefield, making early encounters with them dreaded.

Like Stalkers, their security programs make them far less prone to hacking, and their sheer size and prowess made most pilots never even attempt to hack them. Despite their impressive payloads, they showed a flaw in being rather top heavy, and many found it easy to cripple them by taking out their middle sections.

Marauders

Mauraders were originally meant to serve as an improved Reaper, but eventually became an entirely different unit on their own. Fortified like Stalkers, with more mobility, and limited flight, these units became staple in the IMC around the early 2220’s. They are known for their shoulder launchers, which can launch approximately 16 small guided missiles at a target they lock onto.

Their limited flight made them an easy choice for stalking and flanking in their early days. They too are incredibly hard to hack into, despite some of the best efforts by skilled pilots.

Wolves

Wolves, nicknamed “Dogs”, are the IMC’s hounds of war. Despite their small size, only about the size of a small dog, they are known for their resourcefulness and prowess as being a problem-solving unit. Originally conceived as being a scout unit, these were developed into full-fledged weapons, while retaining many of their scout traits. Easily among the fastest of the IMC’s ground units, able to outrun pilots, even with help from their jump kits, Wolves quickly established themselves in the IMC’s robotic military around 2218.

Wolves are fine-tuned trackers, able to track targets in multiple ways. They are able to shoot trackers into their victims which can be incredibly difficult to remove. Their front legs serve as loaded pistols. They can also continue to operate sufficiently even if one of their front legs is detached. And true to their name, they can track in packs, and should one be destroyed, that unit will fire a small explosive burst of shrapnel, which serve as trackers for its other units. Their small size however comes with its fair share of flaws. They are not very durable, and can be killed fairly easily. Much like Spectres, they can be hacked, and if one is hacked, the pack it is linked to will also find itself hacked. But with the ferocity of these small units, hacking them proves to be a difficult task.

Drones

Drones are automated flying units which serve a multitude of functions within the IMC. Many serve simply as reconnaissance for the IMC ground units, providing intel on enemy positions. Others are assault units, which can be armed with anything from projectile machine guns, to guided missiles, to energy projectiles. Fairly easy to disable, they can be fairly small, to about the size of an adult human. They are mainly deployed on the field by other ground units.

Rollers

Rollers are mobile units with wheels suited for most terrain, which are armed with miniature chain guns commonly found on most Legion titans. They proved to be efficient with their unique approach to frontline assault, but despite their agility and effectiveness, the IMC quickly noted that at close range, their accuracy suffered, and that any close enemy unit could take advantage of the fact that no legs, meant they could easily be flanked. They were also rather pricey to create.

For this reason, they are not a common sight on the battlefield. While they can be seen on frontline assaults, they are mostly seen as defenders.

Sentries

Sentries are similar to automated Titans, but are designed with defense in mind. Where automated-Titans are free move about where they are needed, the mobility of Sentries is limited. They are incredibly slow. But they make up for this lack of speed with an impressive armory that puts most Titans to shame. Armed with cannons, powerful machine guns, grenade launchers, and missile launchers, these units are said to have been able to lay defensive fire on attacking forces with the equivalent of five Titans combined.

Their impressive firepower is matched by their heavily fortified armor. It is not easy taking out a Sentry. Its core systems are heavily armored, and it is close to impossible to reprogram for an enemy. However, as these incredible hulks are expensive to produce, they are only deployed at the IMC’s most crucial locations.

Simulacrums

Simulacrums are the IMC’s best attempt at actual robot pilots. To put it plainly, if a human pilot can do something, there’s a good bet that a Simulacrum can do it as well. Simulacrums function when the mind of a pilot, who has been wounded, or even killed, is digitally preserved and uploaded into a digital matrix, which is then uploaded into an empty chassis of a Simulacrum, giving it the knowledge personality, and even memories of the human that lived before them. Because of this, it is a good bet that no two Simulacrums look alike, as they often decorate their Chassis as they see fit.

Simulacrums are highly controversial, as many pilots do not find it comforting to have their minds preserved in such a unit, but those who have overcome this discomfort have made effective pilots that are just as capable as any human pilot, from their advanced parkour, to their skills with weapons, to their ability to pilot Titans.

With their war with the Militia, the IMC has often favored using these to actual human pilots a lot of the time as they still see these as disposable as a common Spectre, and have even attempted to mass produce these units, with mixed results. Arguably, the IMC still have human pilots who prefer to exist outside a chassis, but there are rumors that the IMC has uploaded pilots personas into a digital matrix upon their deaths, with or without their consent. Pilots have attempted to hack these units with mixed results.
