Avery Waznick
Purple-hair-colour-Ideas-for-the-coming-season-Asymmetrical-Short-Haircuts.jpg
Name: Avery Waznick
Age: 18
Gender: Female

Personality: Avery is a rather extroverted person. She's loud and proud, enjoying the thrill of competition. She can be bit clumsy at times, but makes up for it with the effort she puts into anything she's doing. She can be persistent when a challenge is presented to her, backing down at the last minute most of the time. She's a risk taker, both for good and for bad, but her intentions are always true. Something she had developed was her attention to detail, both physically and mentally, letting nothing escape her sight.

History: When Avery grew up, she was an only child. Compared to her now, she was a lot more quiet and reserved. Whether it be at school or at home, she always found herself to be alone at some point.

At the age of 6, her parents gifted Avery with a Nintendo Gamboy along with Pokemon. There, something sparked inside Avery. She stated to become passionate, detail oriented, competitive. Video games brought a completely new personality out of the female.

As she grew in age, Avery's newly found passion grew and evolved with her. She looked towards consoles, getting herself an Xbox 360 with the allowance money she had. With an entirely new platform at her disposal, she explored other types of games. She wanted something fast-paced, something exciting. She settled on First Person Shooters, picking up Battlefield.

For years, she remained in the world of console gaming, until Avery caught wind of PC gaming. Seeing as how that PC gamers were more recognized in general, Avery made it a goal to get herself recognized as well. Once she was of age, she picked up a part-time job as a waitress at a restaurant, saving all her paychecks until she had enough money, building her own gaming PC. At first, she had no idea what game she wanted to devote her time to, until Overwatch came along. It was like Battlefield, but it had so many hidden details and stats just like Pokemon. Avery fell in love.

As quickly as possible, she pre-ordered and got her hands on the game, playing it from the minute of launch to today. At first, Avery kept her Overwatch career private, but over time, began displaying herself publicly. At first, she uploaded her POTGs and highlights to reddit, getting a decent amount of views and comments. At this point in time, streaming was starting snowball as more and more players began to pick up on the fad. She hosted small streams of a few matches here and there, ranking up live sometimes.

It didnt take Avery to reach the Top 500, and by then, thousands of people were watching her streams. Avery loved the thrill it gave her, continuing what she was doing. Viewers began to subscribe to her, providing her revenue and she eventually quit her waitress job, sustaining herself through streaming and uploading onto Youtube.

Months after she turned 18 and moved out of her parents' house, she was contacted by a stranger, who informed Avery that they were a recruiter for an eSports team known as the San Diego Storm. Her skills were noticed and Avery was being invited to be signed to the team. Seeing as it was her change to get recognized at a professional level, she accepted the invitation, officially joining the eSports scene

Personality: Isabella is a bit awkward, when it comes to interacting with others. While front to her stream audience, she is able to joke and talk, when facing real social situations, where she has to talk WITH somebody, she will oftenly awkwardly sit around, visibly uncomfortable. She tries to still do her best in those situations. She has immense fears of being rejected, so she pretends to not care enough to put in effort, when really she is oftenly just scared to fail. This however usually only applies to interaction, not to anything else. Despite her lack of social skills, she is a person that can be very determined, that focusses on whatever she deems important. She is intelligent and she is able to admit her own mistakes. However, she also likes to point out others mistakes, which oftenly annoys others.
History: Isabella heritages from York, England. She was born the daughter of a british woman and a korean man. Already at a young age, she got in contact with videogames. It got her main hobby, since she always had trouble with social interactions. She got very good and with determination, was getting into the life stream community. Her skills, especially at Overwatch, raised her views and brought the attention of team hosts to her. Now, through the Storms, she has gotten the chance to join the Esport League.

Basic Information
NAME: Alfie Haneul Cho
AGE: 21
BIRTHDATE: March 3rd
ZODIAC: Pisces
GENDER: Male

In-Game Information
HANDLE: HĔRMĔS
ORIGIN: In Greek mythology, Hermes is often referred to as 'the divine trickster.' Alfie found it fitting for the annoying way he plays Tracer, Genji, and Mei.
ROLE: DPS and off-Tank
MAIN HEROES:
MEI - 267 hrs
TRACER - 153 hrs
D.VA - 139 hrs
GENJI - 96 hrs
SKILL RATING: Career high of 4597
On the Outside
APPEARANCE: Shown above; face-claim is Nam Joo Hyuk
WARDROBE: Lots of bright, obnoxious colors. Alfie is the most comfortable clad in shorts and tee shirts, his most common wear for sessions at home. He can be found in a menagerie of interesting jacket designs while on the go, graphic hoodies, bomber jackets, and the like. Calf-high socks and vibrantly-hued Converse are all part of the aesthetic.
FAVORITE COLOR: Yellows and blues
PERSONALITY: Alfie is the epitome of positive energy. He's cheery and upbeat, ready to tackle any situation with an optimistic mindset. He's comfortable and outgoing socially, but most if not all of his companions are internet friends. He spends a vast majority of his free time clacking away on a keyboard, streaming his video game endeavors to a small but dedicated fanbase. He is known around the Overwatch community for his incredibly high mouse sensitivity and primary Mei gameplay.

Alfie is not easily deterred by small problems, instead seeing them as a means to learn and conquer the next big thing. He is quite talkative and his mind is always buzzing - it should be bothersome, but with his inflections leaking happiness and adoration for every little subject he speaks about, friends, acquaintances, and strangers hardly find enough anger inside of them to tell him to shut it. If the situation calls for it, he's very quiet, trying to focus on and analyse every tiny detail although he bounces on his feet with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. These periods of seriousness are usually quite short-lived, however, as Alfie springs back with smiles and words of encouragement within seconds.

He can be reckless and overexcitable, especially in gameplay, but will acknowledge his actions as the dust settles and apologise for any damage caused. He is aware of his over-the-top nature and tries to soften it as much as he can despite his tendency to get carried. Alfie is a very caring individual and will offer any and all of his support a friend who needs it.
On the Inside
BACKGROUND: Alfie was raised in a very normal environment, living in a small two-story house with his mother, father, and grandmother. His grandmother immigrated to Canada from North Korea with her young daughter, desperate to escape the dictatorship there. Many years after settling in Montreal, Alfie's mother and father met at 17 and 19. They dated for six years before they were married, mainly out of financial difficulty. After they were wed, they pursued long-term careers - his mother as a veterinarian and his father as a social worker. Their financial situation stabilised greatly, and they moved into a house in a quiet neighborhood. One year into their marriage, Alfie was conceived. He was a sunny child fueled by curiosity. He would often get into trouble as a product of his desire to explore. As he grew older, he found himself becoming more and more attached to the idea of gaming - for his seventh birthday he was given a Nintendo GameCube. His passion for video games skyrocketed after this, as more consoles and games came out, he worked harder in harder with chores, day jobs, and with his grades in order to get his hands on the next big thing. At 14, he settled with a personal computer, migrating from console play to smoother mouse and keyboard mechanics. This change sparked his FPS interest, and he swapped from primarily platforming games to more intense shooters. The spontaneous and quick way they were played captured his attention for much longer.

Call of Duty turned into Counter-Strike turned into Team Fortress 2. Slowly, things began to get redundant - Then Overwatch was released. Alfie pre-ordered the game as soon as he could. A new team-based shooter was exactly what he needed. He received a copy of the game shortly after and fell in love. The mechanics were engaging, the characters were interesting, and it was incredibly smooth and fine-tuned to play. Alfie dedicated hours, days, and weeks into the game, pouring his attention into every niche skill needed to play this diverse collection of heroes. As time progressed, Mei was added to the roster and she stood out - a beacon of hope for Alfie. Her devilish, area-denying playstyle was fresh and fun. She could snipe, she could freeze tricky Lucios, she could block an entire objective with her ult. And she was just so cute... while Tracer, McCree, and Zarya had captured his attention for a while, Mei changed everything! Hours began to pile up on her play-time counter. The game was fully released, along with a handful of other heroes.

One year into Overwatch, Alfie had taken his place at the top of the game, wielding an endothermic blaster and a deep passion. Unfortunately, as the game changed and progressed, Mei was shown much less love, forcing Alfie to turn towards Tracer, D.Va, and Genji to aide his team. In Alfie's hands, she was a very strong pick, but just couldn't hold up against the revolution of dive, especially when a few heroes that fit the bill lay under Alfie's belt. Play-time began to even quite nicely. Towards the end of season five, Alfie joined the pro scene, signing for a few small tournaments here and there, stealing first and second place for most and proving to be a valuable asset to the E-sports scene.
EXTRA: Not much for now!

Gender: Male

Handle: R4Y-R4Y

Reinhardt - 50 hours

Career High: 4611

Appearance:
tumblr_o394ebwDeN1v9vcwro3_500.gif

Personality: Reirei is a fun-loving and outgoing kind of guy, sunny despite whatever the circumstance might be. His optimism is often contagious, but even more often it has a tendency to rub people the wrong way. While he tries to remain positive, he's not at all the type to lead a team. Much more of a follower, he easily takes and follows orders, executing them with swift accuracy and following plays through to the end. He doesn't like to let his team down, and will try to cheer them up or take all the blame like a negative mood sponge. Honestly, he never intended to get onto a professional Overwatch team - he just wanted to have fun and play the game on a slightly more competitive level than competitive play had to offer.

History: Reirei was born in San Diego, and has lived their his entire life. His parents immigrated there from Japan a few years prior. A short three years after his birth, his family welcomed his little sister, Amanda, to the world. It was quickly apparent, however, that there were some complications to be had with her. She was born sickly, and a few months after her birth she had to be taken back to the hospital for a severe sickness. All her life, she'd been in and out of the hospital. One thing Reirei found that he could easily do to distract his little sister from the treatments she had to undergo, was to play video games with her. It started with a simple NES and Super Mario Bros, and as new games came out, the two of them played more and more together. Eventually, she got her own laptop, and the two of them got their own copies of Overwatch to play together. His sister is in low bronze, and he has an alternate account he uses to play with her, his main account used now for the professional team he's on. As was initially stated, he didn't want to play on a professional team, but hospital bills racked up quickly and his parents simply weren't making enough. Pausing college, Reirei joined the team.

Name: Gary Anson
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Appearance:
8d61cceb5acfcb51b07a7c622772e688.jpg
Personality:
Gary Anson is rather outgoing compared to what's typically expected of someone who plays as much video games as he does. He'll greet you without problem, and is just fine with extended conversation, as long as it's not explicitly one-on-one. He can still hold a conversation with a single person, but he tends to become more anxious during that time.

Almost like he's kept the curiosity of a child, he's ready to try just about anything new if given the chance. Though this has gotten him into trouble, it's never been anything enough for, say, getting thrown into jail. This curiosity is what lead him, initially, to joining the team. He simply wanted to know what it was like, consequently finding he loved it.

History: Gary grew up as what most would consider a fairly average child. He liked watching cartoons, though generally less than playing outside. He'd not played video games for more than five hours total by the time he was in 5th grade when his parents bought him Pokemon Diamond and a DS for his 9th birthday. Though it was this game that sparked his love for strategy-based games, as little as there was to a beginner to Pokemon. From there on through the next six years, he moved from game to game, dissatisfied with each after only months, including Starcraft, TF2, Counter-Strike, and a handful of RPG games like TES.

In early 2014, a game called Overwatch was announced, and Gary was able to play the demo at Blizzcon. It reminded him of games in the past, though there was certain life within it that he found to fit him perfectly. Eagerly waiting for the next two years, he kept himself up to date perfectly during that time. Upon official release, there was no surprise in the number of people who didn't want to play anything but the hyper carry of the game. Gary was instead attracted to the tankier heroes, where he almost always contributed to the team with his choice of hero.

As he grew more and more enjoyment in the game, he found himself climbing the ranked ladder. Close to the end of Season 5, he had reached the top 500 and was attracting interest in the eSports scene, thanks to his occasional game uploaded to YouTube, where each video was almost assured have rather large view counts. Eventually Gary was reached out towards for the purpose of being recruited, and he accepted as soon as he could, having been interested in the the scene for as long as there was one.

Name: Nova Williams
Age: 20

Peak SR: 4601
Heroes:
Mercy - 400+ hours
Lucio - ~325 hours
Zenyatta - ~250 hours
Moira - ~150 hours
Symmetra - ~40 hours

Appearance:
kaya-scodelario.jpg

Personality: Nova is the observant type. She's the kind of player to be 100% focused on the game, to the point where she can't multitask at all. This tends to be her downfall, as while she's really observant and notices things like say an enemy Reaper about to ult, it takes her a moment to "buffer" as her friends call it. Basically, her reaction time between seeing something about to happen and telling her teammates about the thing is very low. It takes her a long time to switch back on her communication skills when she's focused on the game. The only reason she's gotten to where she is now is pure determination. She's spent countless hours loosing, if only to gain those many victories that brought her to the top. As such, she feels personally responsible every time her team fails, and often blames her poor communication skills.

History: Nova is the only child of two upper middle class parents. With no time to spend on their daughter due to demanding jobs, Nova was often left to her own devices. It wasn't long till she discovered the internet, and played many free games she could find online. When she received money from her parents, they'd often be spent on video games, and eventually she found a home in the Overwatch community. Most of her life now is dedicated to playing the game, as she started up her own YouTube channel and Twitch stream, giving her a source of income, aside from the chores around the house she still does for her parents.

Name: 欧阳 "Luna" 玉月
Romanized Name: Ou Yang Yu Yue
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Handle: Jaderabbit
Role: Support/off-DPS
Heroes:
Ana: ~427 hours
Zenyatta: ~380 hours
Pharah: ~255 hours
Lucio: ~132 hours

Appearance: Straight black hair, a bit past shoulder length, and brown eyes. Has a dark brown mark on the left side of her face, a bit above her mouth, about the size of a thumbnail.

Personality:
Luna struggles with most people. She doesn't know how to start a conversation, or how to get past hello, and she usually can't make jokes or relax. She does have online friends she plays with often, but the few high school friends she had in real life are usually busy with college now, and she can't see them on a regular basis. So in other words, she's pretty awkward around people. She will go up to them and try to make friends, but it usually falls apart. What she can do, however, is listen to other people. The few friends she has are all talkative, bubbly people, and usually, they came up to her and started rambling.
She also tends to be intense. This is the girl that locked herself in her room for 4 hours until she'd gotten "good enough" with her aim as Ana. The game- and victory- is really important to her, so much that in a way, she bases her self-worth off of it. So whenever she loses, she's prone to snapping, getting angry at her team, the opposing team, and herself. It's something she's working on, but the pressure of playing on stage all of a sudden when she never has before, is getting to her. Hard.
That being said, the reason why she's on this team is because Luna could be called the girl of a thousand brains. She's constantly checking who's currently on the kill feed, where her team is, where the enemies might be, which ones of them have their ult charge, all while trying to hit those shots on a flying Mercy. She's really good at callouts and communication (in-game at least), and she's constantly telling her team who is discorded or planning out ult combos with her biotic grenade. Because she generally spends time looking at the entire map, from a sniper's perch, a backline, or even the sky, she excels at seeing the full game, and can use that to suggest good team comps and strategies.
Even if Luna is a little- okay, a lot- flawed on the team side, she's a strong player. And she wants to make friends in Storm, even if she doesn't know how; she's really hoping she'll find people here who are willing to talk, who are willing to fill the silence when she doesn't know how- and in return, she'll listen and she'll laugh with them, a willing ear whenever. Suffice to say, Luna's crossing her fingers here, and hoping Storm is her lucky strike.

History:
Luna was born in Shenzhen to a Chinese mother and an American father. When she was very young, she excelled in school, but as she grew up and things got harder, she started to struggle. Her grades dropped, and around this time, in middle school, was when she started playing games. Video games provided an escape, where she didn't have to deal with the homework she didn't get or the test she hadn't done well on- with video games, things made sense. When her parents moved to America due to her mother's job, it didn't help Luna's situation. Moving to an entirely new country uprooted the few friends she'd found, and her foreign status made life that much harder. Her nonexistent social life made video games that much more appealing- in video games, no one cares if you're awkward or if you pronounce your r's wrong- if you can make the play, that's what's important. And so, Luna spent the majority of her childhood and teenage years, staring at a screen.
It was really in America, when she was 14 or so, that she discovered the competitive scene, and she spent a lot of time there, even if she struggled to make it into average levels. A lot of times, she'd be late on homework assignments because she was practicing all night, looking for the best places to set up defenses or start attacks, so she'd be more effective when she next played. And, well, after 2 years of that, she was pretty good. Luna heard about Overwatch when it first came out, and she kind of jumped on it. In her defense, she was 16 and easily attracted by bright colors, fancy characters, and cool lore- which Overwatch had in spades. Getting used to a new game took some time, and she nearly gave up. She would have, if not for the friends she'd met- a kind tank/DPS couple who showed her the ropes when she began, a young girl who played only supports and always focus healed the Pharah when she was Ana, and a tank woman who saved her from more D.VA self destructs than she could count in those early days. However, luckily for Luna, aiming and reflexes translated from game to game without too much work, and although it took her about half a year, she made it into grandmaster eventually.
It was around this time that Luna started making videos: tips on how to play certain characters, how to strategize, how to improve aiming, analysis on nerfs, buffs, and new characters, and the like. Although they tended to be clinical, they also gave good advice, and she began to gain a following even as she worked up to Top 500. It was that following that brought her to the attention of Storm. The recruitment offer came at the perfect time; Luna had just graduated high school, and she wished she could take a gap year but didn't know what she'd do, or how she'd manage college. She wasn't looking forward to another four years of not understanding and not belonging, but Storm gave her the out she needed: a year of esports, a year before she had to go back to reality- and maybe more, if she was good enough. Obviously, Luna took it.

Fun Facts: Luna hates Mercy with a burning passion. She's spent enough time on her to play her well, because Mercy has such a high pick and win rate. However, she enjoys playing other supports more, and is so ready for the day when those new Mercy nerfs come to competitive. She idolizes a couple other players in the League (read: JJonak) and especially loves when they highlight non-Mercy support plays. She speaks both Mandarin and English, and her parents switch between calling her Luna, Yue, or Yu Yue at any given time. She goes by Luna among Americans, and by Yu Yue among family or other Mandarin speakers. Her favorite color is blue, and she likes wearing skirts, especially long ones. She still plays with her original Overwatch friends on alternate accounts. Her handle comes from the Chinese myth of Chang'e and her rabbits, since Yu Yue translates to "jade moon."
