intro
are you the devil?
overview.
Every witch and vampire knows the tale of the Hallowed Father and the Revenant Mother. The God Witch tried to save his true love, only for her to return wrong. Twisted by a bloodlust, she turned her firstborn son and daughter, and...the rest is history. The two supernatural types clashed in wars that lasted millennia, underneath the very noses of the mortals that dwell on the Earth. The most notorious clash was the Underwar of Boston, which started when the 2nd Heir to the Coven Unitatis and her family were brutally drained dry by a rouge vampire clan, which was the point of revelation to the mortal of the supernatural world. Now, exposed to the world, the witches and other supernatural entities have wasted no time asserting their once-cloaked strength into the world. The powers that be have changed positions, co-existing in a sort of way with the mortals of the world.
However,
The Coven Unitatis has made quite its share of enemies along the way. From slavery to genocide, they've had their hand in the cookie jar for far too long. And, they've pissed off the wrong witch. As he assembles a tribe of his own to annihilate the heinous elitists that ruined the life of someone he loved, it would seem that the age-old tale of revenge is sparked anew on a grand scale. And, as he would tell you himself:
"All Glory to the Scorned."
~
Welcome to the world of Throne & Sickle, an RP I'm creating to house two characters I made that never got any chance to be used. The world of this RP involves the supernatural and their ways. Ultimately, this is a tale of revenge and the higher purpose it can serve. This, like many tales like this one, will change the very world for our characters as they know it. There will be war. There will be romance. There will be lots and lots of blood. Are you ready to watch the elite fall to their knees?

witches
open
Born as humans with the aptitude to bend reality, witches are rather adept at this sort of power through lineage–though some individuals are granted the gift of magic without belonging to a bloodline. Witches have a longer life expectancy of 200 years and can retain their youth gracefully, contrary to derogatory depictions of the folk. While the gift of the Craft can be passed to either son or daughter, females are 3x more likely to develop their gifts fully. Therefore, the Coven Unitatis is matriarchal by nature. One legend says that the first witch gained their knowledge and magic as a prize for outsmarting a Fae God, though how true that is depends on who is telling the story.
All witchfolk can cast simple spells, given they know the words and have the right intent. However, more powerful witches fall into one of the classifications known as “the Four Greats”:
Expression: Dark magic that aligns with the more malevolent forces of the world. It is said that those who use this sort of magic trade portions of their soul for power. Subpowers include Necromancy, soul possession, and curses.
Divination: The gift of second sight, unexplainable truths, and the knowledge of the unknown. These powers are rarer among the greater community but are treasured as such.
Nature: A connection to the divine spirits that govern the natural world. These witches can be as simple as having an affinity for animal familiars and potion/herbology. However, the greatest of these witches can control the elements and weather itself, harnessing powers that can decimate as well as nurture growth.
Miracles: The rarest of powers that haven’t been seen since the time of the Hallowed Father, every type of witchcraft is as natural as breathing to a person who possesses this form of magic. They can cause unbelievable events, akin to the wonders of a deity. Neither inherently good nor evil, the blessings of this power obey the mind of its wielder. One would hope to never have this burden placed on their head.
And, to be “Queenborn” is to be the most powerful wielder of one of the Four Greats–though there hasn’t been a wielder of Miracles since the time of the Hallowed Father.
(there are 4 spots for Queenborn witches, who will govern their own area of the supernatural world they live in. Other than that, unlimited spots.)
vampires
open
The modern vampire is just as regal as a witch can be. The hierarchy of vampires goes by the number of years of existence–though the oldest of the existing vampires are known not to care about the politics of man or supernatural creatures anyway. Vampires are known to have their own set of supernatural strengths such as superhuman speed, strength, and grace. As the years drag on for the undead creatures, so do their other abilities. They can compel mortals and witches–if they are strong enough. They can also mirror walk, which involves them having their own realm in mirrors and reflective surfaces.
Their features are beautiful after undergoing a painful transformation that takes 3 days to complete. However, to somewhat resemble their human self, a vampire has to obtain a token made of pure silver and a crystal stone of their choice. This token is then blessed during a ritual with a witch to encase a sliver of their soul. This is the only way they’ll bear a somewhat human resemblance, for if they choose to not have the ritual done, humans will instinctually know that they are in the face of danger and death.
A vampire cannot bear the sunlight for more than 3 days before losing their mind to madness like no other. They would shed their beauty and adopt a more demonic form, never to hold their sentience again. They’d only live to feed and create more like themselves. This creature is known as the Draug and should never be thought of and always feared. The only matter witches and vampires can agree on is the immediate eradication of this creature.

There are many other kinds of supernatural creatures in this world(fae, selkie, lycanthrope, djinn, kitsune, etc.). So, get creative. If I like it and it fits the story, I'll accept the character and let you guys make up the lore for that character's creature type.

Please abide by site rules. Teen/Mature warning, because there will be mature elements and graphic depictions.
rule two.
Literate RP, requiring 2-3+ paragraphs in every reply. Characters will experience physical and emotional distress at some points of the RP. If you know you can't commit to being a part of a complex storyline, please leave room for others. I understand that life can get in the way. If you work with me, I can work with you.
rule three.
I will be making a temporary discord to discuss ideas and plot while we create our characters. When the time comes to select those who will be participating, I will message you personally to discuss if and why your character was accepted/dismissed. Please do not take my judgement personally, for I know many of you that can and will create some beautifully complex characters.

"Nothing inspires forgiveness quite like revenge."
Name:
Age: (if you're playing a vampire, this determines your hierarchy position)
Species: (include Queenborn Witch Rank if you are trying for that position)
Gender Identity:
Sexual/Romantic Orientation:
Occupation:
Appearance: (Description or fc. This is the appearance they have when most humans look at them. If your character has a "monster/beast/inhuman" form, feel free to add those details in as well.)
Personality & Background: (use paragraphs, bullet points, or whatever makes you feel comfortable with this section. If you have any questions or lore-heavy contributions to the world, run it by me first.)
Aspirations & Fears:
Quirks:
Abilities: (Vampires aged 350 and above get one specialized power outside of the ones described in the roles section. All younger vampires don't have a defined power, but their base skills are incredibly heightened. Witches can have skills in ONE of the Four Greats, as listed in the appropriate role. Furthermore, they can have 1 bailiwick--an incredibly potent skill-- based on whatever Great they can manipulate. Other creatures have skills appropriate to their mythos, and I don't mind working with you to tailor those abilities to suit the RP best.)
Extra: (Anything you feel fills out your character more)
Momento Mori: (This is an acknowledgment that you're aware your character might be killed due to inactivity or through story progression. You're welcome to apply with a new character at any time--or, we can talk about the resurrection of the deceased character if you just want a good plot point. Just say a quick little blurb agreeing to the possibility.)
