Bringer of Stars and Caretaker of Seals
This is the Great Age of Pirates
Wealth. Fame. Power. After traveling the entirety of Grand Line and New World, Gol D. Roger has acquired everything the world has to offer. "You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything the world has to offer in one place."
This sparked the Great Age of Pirates. The people--young and old, able and weary, all took to the seas to find the former Pirate King's treasure. Many pirates have tried their hand in acquiring Roger's treasure, but none has succeeded. The harsh seas of Grand Line is a challenge that they have to face, followed by more powerful foes that have come before them. And yet, beyond the Grand Line is a nightmarish sea known as the New World. Home to the Four Emperors, and a place which merits Grand Line to be called 'Paradise.' Dangers whose existence pales every known conflict in the Blue Seas.
Following the aftermath of the Summit War of Marineford, a newly formed crew has begun stirring up trouble in East Blue. Enough to merit the appearance of a former warlord coming by themselves to apprehend them.
introduction
I already have an existing 1x1 thread but this long-term plot is enough to merit a separate thread. That said, hello! My One Piece brain is itching so much right now after watching the live-action. I have so many ideas and characters and potential devil fruits circling in my head and I'd hate for it to go to waste.
A little bit about me, I am 20 yrs old, he/him, and a college student with barely enough time to write (but still enough!). I've been into One Piece for nearly a decade now and I'm caught up until the start of Zou Arc, but have seen enough spoilers to understand the major points of Whole Cake Island Arc and Wano Arc. I am very patient with replies and also ghost-friendly!
the roleplay
Yes, this is in the right subforum. This is a 1x1 long-term, advanced-literate/novella-level (5+ paragraphs, 500 words minimum average) roleplay set in the canon world of One Piece. The Straw Hats exists, the Going Merry exists, but we create our own crew and characters. For example, a former warlord OC, an antagonist pirate crew, and much more. After all, this is our imaginative alternate universe set in the world of One Piece.
We will start somewhere in East Blue, and as the roleplay goes on, we will largely follow canon islands on the East Blue and as our character set off to Grand Line, we can start implementing non-canon islands, new characters, and so on.
Now, the technical bits. Instead of "going with the flow" with the roleplay, we can set out plot points beforehand so we won't get lost and bored along the way. I'm thinking that each story arc will follow the "One Piece" formula. With that formula being: there is a known conflict in that island/characters living in the main island in that arc, and despite our crew's initial goal to register their Log Pose towards the next island, they become roped into that island's affairs. Of course, this should develop within reason that they should be helping the inhabitants in that island, not because they have to. This is for the sake of adventure after all, not just for the sake of scripted storytelling!
who i'm looking for
I'm looking for someone who (in decreasing importance):
- Can double and control multiple characters in one scene
- Loves brainstorming plots, characters, antagonists, and is just as excited for this as I am
- Also has a major One Piece brain itch
- Is someone who can comfortably and literately write between 500-2000 words
- Has caught up as far as the Summit War of Marineford Arc (because spoilers, unless you don't mind, then the absolute minimum requirement is for you to have watched up until Post-Enies Lobby Arc)
- 18+! But if you think you qualify for the previous bullets, then feel free to send a message.
