Welcome to Theden's Juvenile Detention Center!

We encourage parents with unruly children to hand over their little angels to us, the #1 Detention Center in the US!
Here your child will learn to obey through various forms of punishment and discipline. As the parent, you may choose the level of punishment your child gets and change it at any time, for any reason.
We also send back reports monthly, letting you know how your child is getting on and what action we reccomend. We never send out automated messaging, so you will always have information on your child specifically!
Located deep in the mountains, there is no worry of escape. The landscape is harsh and it would be challenging for your child to leave anyways.
Rest assured your child will be in good care with us - Theden's Juvenile Detention Center!

--------

You've been admitted to Theden's Juvenile Detention Center.
In your first post, please state if you are new or if you've been there for awhile, and if so, how long.
The guards are brutal, and they often get in physical altercations with the inmates.
Your "discipline" usually involves mental or physical abuse or both. The year is 2157, so you may make up new forms of abuse based of future tech, if you wish.
If you are here for your sexuality, interracting with the sex your parents wish you to be involved with is encouraged.
Bribery is not uncommon.
Have fun.

August sighed heavily.
Day 154. When he first got here he never thought he'd be here this long. Sure, he knew that sentences were 365 days at minimum, and yes, he knew he had been sentenced until he was 18, but he was sure that his parents weren't going to let him stay there as long as he had been. Turns out he had been extremely wrong. He had even tried to fake it to get out. Twice, actually. But his heart wasn't in it and they knew. They always knew. The beatings had been especially bad after those times. The mental torture was worse, but the beatings had lasting effects.

It was the 15th, which meant that it was not only visitation day, but they would be getting new inmates. A double whammy, because he was never visited by his family, and new inmates were never a good idea. Most of them usually obeyed their parents wishes before the first week was over, but there was always some with a bone to pick, a chip on their shoulder. There was always fights and blood. It was hard to protect yourself, you had to be aware of everyone.

It sucked even more for August because he hadn't made any friends... or partners. Almost everyone who stayed for a significant amount of time had someone who watched their back. Even if they weren't friends, they had an understanding of some sort. It didn't help that August had never been assigned a cell mate. Which, honestly may be a gift of god. Cell mates could really go either way.

A loud, long beep came over the speakers, and their cell doors unlocked. Time for breakfast.

Wonderful.

A loud sigh escaped the teen's lips. He couldn't believe he was back in this wretched place after only being gone for such a short period of time. Theden's Juvenile Detention Center, the number one detention center in the country. For him after serving a year here, it was beginning to look more like home than his actual home was. Unfortunately for him, that blew up in his face.

Xavier could remember what it felt like when he got out about a month ago. While locked up his parents encouraged the authorities to use as much force as they saw necessary, which meant they were going to be as brutal as possible. He couldn't so much as breath the wrong way without getting his ass handed to him by guards. It was a crazy way to live. Despite all of that abuse, he had made it out and looked forward to being back home and being free. His parents expected a totally reformed young man when he returned, which was the part he played at first. It was long before his parents began noticing things about him they didn't like and arguments began breaking out constantly. The main topic of these arguments was his future, which he wasn't thinking about since he had experienced freedom for the first time in a year. His parents, however, expected him to be more driven and to carry on the family line of going into law. Xavier refused this of course, and which caused him to go out and get into trouble all over again. A week after his seventeenth birthday they sent him back.

The grip on his arms was tightened as the guard that had just processed him pushed him along. It was pretty early in the morning and judging by the bell, he was being escorted to breakfast. He was always on edge during this time because of the inflow of new inmates, all with different agendas. He was forced to take a beating from guards, but he never tolerated disrespect from equals. The guards stopped at the door to the cafeteria, "Alright kid, we're gonna go ahead and let you eat. You've been here before so don't try anything funny." X simply nodded.

After grabbing a tray of the slop they liked calling food, he sat at an empty table and stared at his tray. He had been gone for about a month, so he wasn't sure who had remained or who was new in the facility. He would just have to figure that out the easy way, or the hard way. Hopefully not the latter.

Ashvitha Anchan

Ashvitha sobbed when she heard the bell that signaled breakfast. She didn't want to get up, in fact, she didn't want to do anything. She had only been at the detention center for a day, yet she was already exhausted.

"I want my makeup, I want my money and I want to get out of this place!" She whined to nobody in particular. Burying her head back into the thin blanket, Ashvitha pretended to be asleep. Unfortunately for her, that didn't work.

Thwack! She felt somebody thump her back.

"Ugh! Go away, I'm sleeping!" Ashvitha pouted. Despite her cries of despair, the guard took her arm and dragged her off to the cafeteria.

"Go eat," the guard grunted. When she didn't let go of his arm, he kicked her butt hard and walked off. Ashvitha whimpered but decided to go eat. Seems like I'll have to try another strategy to get out of this place, she thought.

Rory McIntire

img_7159-jpg.460182

It was early in the morning when Rory woke up. She groaned as she got up, her whole body was sore after her first night in the detention center on the two-inch thick mattress bed. Rory looked around and used her senses to make sure no one was watching and there were no security cameras. Then she took out the notebook and pen she had concealed in her shirt and started making note of her surroundings.

"Hmmmm....Let's see, walls are rusty, paint is chipping off, the cell has a weird scent, there are bugs, the mattress is extremely thin and worn down." Rory scribbled into her notebook, then she carefully tucked it away. As a guard approached to take her to breakfast, she thought of the best way to provoke him so she could get more evidence. At first, she thought against it but decided to whine, after all, she was playing a spoiled girl who had grown up with too much money.

"Where'd you filthy b***hes take my Louis Vuitton bag?!" She shouted as loud as she could. Sure enough, the guard clocked her. As soon as Rory saw the fist, she expertly dodged it. Didn't learn Tae Kwon Do for nothing! She thought. Then she swung her leg over the bed to kick the guard but stopped, if she showed off her skills now, the guards would surely anticipate it, so she let the guard clock her and the world went black.

Seth Potawatomi
img_7161-jpg.460190

Another day, same grind! Seth thought as he woke up to the 150th day of being at the facility. Usually he was alight with fire but today, he was more somber. After all, it was his mother's tenth anniversary of death. When he heard the breakfast bell, he got to his feet and met the guard at the cell door. The guard eyed him suspiciously.

"You better not be planning anything," the guard gave Seth a stink eye and handcuffed him like usual. Then he was escorted to the cafeteria. One of the bored worker ladies handed him a tray filled with expired food and grey slop. Reluctantly, he took it and found a seat in the darkest corner of the room. He pushed the slop around, not feeling particularly hungry.

day 123. it seemed like this sentence was going slower and slower everyday that passed. what made it worse was that it was visiting day and they would be getting new inmates in the facility: one being his sister. this was a brutal place. not an area that he would want his sister involved in but with the things she's been doing back at home it wasn't a surprise to him that his parents finally brought her to this hellhole. he has seen beatings, heard some screaming from inflicted pain and the guards here have an ego as big as the universe. they were the superior ones and they are never shy about showing each and every inmate that.

luckily, ryker wasn't one of the inmates that were beaten as much as the others. he is the good kid around here that just got caught in a terrible situation. he's only gotten around 5 short beatings whole stay and he was trying to keep that record going.

ryker woke up earlier than everyone today. he just sat on the bed in his own rusted cell and waited for the loud bell to ring. he tried fixing his hair as much as possible until then. but soon enough, he heard the click from his cell and the loud bell. it was time for breakfast. the black haired male got up off his bed and headed towards the eating area. he picked up his tray and sat at the far corner in his usual spot. everyday he looked down at the food: it seemed as if the food got worse and worse. but it was either "eat" or "starve" & ryker was already too skinny from skipping meals. he hesitantly picked up his plastic fork and dug into what was supposed to be eggs ( or at least he hoped they were eggs ).

( reina montgomery )

reina hadn't been here for a long time and she already wanted to cause some trouble. she was laying on her bed thinking of the possible things she could do that wouldn't get her into that much trouble. was there really anything? no, no there wasn't. it being her first day here, she already knew what went down in this facility. if you were caught doing wrong, you would get your ass handed to you. eh, might as well get used to the pain right? after all, this was going to be her new home. her parents arranged for her to stay until she was eighteen and she was barely sixteen. this is gonna be one hell of a ride. luckily for her, there was some cute people here AND her brother was here for comforting.

"home sweet home!"she hollered out loud and that's when she heard the lock make a 'click' sound. afterwards, the bell rang and echoed down the hall causing some inmates to groan in annoyance or just plain sadness. reina bounced off the bed in an upbeat way and made her way down the hall. "oh cheer up guys. this isn't so bad" she told everyone as she walked past the cells and made her way to the eating area.

as soon as she grabbed her tray, she looked around for a place to sit and immediately went to sit at the empty table closest to her.

-Elysian-
It was day 213 and Elysian already had a routine down, wake up before everyone else and have a goddamn second of peace and quiet before the days activities. He was awake about and hour before the bell had sounded and the door to his cell opened. He was contemplating just how tome the day interesting. As the door opened with a click, he hopped out of bed and hit the guard on the shoulder "Smile, it'll be a great day Steve" he said with a smirk. Elysian didn't know if this guard was even named Steve, but he just stared at Elysian until he walked out of the cell. Elysian had found a way to underhandedly deal while stuck in the cell, but he didn't have any business today so what could he do?

As he walked into the eating area he grabbed a tray and looked around. Spotting a girl at an empty table he casually walked over and sat down across from her. After getting settled, he looked up and said "Damn, didn't know prison had full-course meals...And I'm not talking about the breakfast" with a charming smile.

-Tempest-
"Fuck" Tempest swore under her breath as she was flung into her cell by the guards. They were explaining how everything worked, but she just zoned out as a bell sounded, not knowing what it was for. Apparently, everyone was going to eat breakfast at the exact time she arrived in prison, great. The guards said a few threats before leaving her to walk towards the cafeteria alone. On the outside, she looked calm and cool, but on the inside she was freaking out. She had never been to prison and as she looked around she saw a variety of people. Some looked nice and others looked like they were about to snap. There were even some kids as young as 10 she assumed by the way they looked. Tempest couldn't wrap her mind around why some parents were so fucking awful as to send their kids here.

She hadn't realized that she was lost in thought until someone roughly bumped into her. She didn't want to start trouble...yet, so she just stared at the back of their head as they went to sit down. Tempest grabbed a tray with a puddle of something that looked inedible and glanced at the cafeteria. No tables were empty anymore and she didn't know where to sit.

When Rory awoke, she was in a dark room and all her limbs were strapped to the table. She tugged carefully, testing her bonds. They were made of leather and seemed to be weak.

"Spoiled b***hes don't take long to rot, let's see how long you last," she heard a man with a gravelly voice chuckle. He was close to her face, she could feel his hot breath against her face. Doing the only thing she could do at the moment, she made a high-pitched squeal that the CIA had taught her. It made the guard back off and writhe. She kept on squeezing as she broke her bonds. First, the arms, then the legs. Then she clocked the guard.

"Whoever dares mess with women will feel my wrath," she muttered to the unconscious man. After several minutes, she finally found the door. Light flooded in and she found herself in a dark hallway with blood stains everywhere. Luckily, Rory knew just where to go. When she came here, the guards had led her through numerous twists and turns just to confuse her but that only helped her get her bearings better. After a few turns and long hallways, She found the cafeteria and grabbed the *gross and disgusting* food. She saw a girl looking lost in the sea of troubled adolescents.

"Hey, do you want to come sit with me?"

Nikola Szafeczka

Nikola sat in her cell with her arms crossed. They had just put her in her cell and she already had guards pinned. She didn't bother sitting on the bed or even looking at her surroundings. She pouted and debated her course of action. She was surely not going to do well. She was tiny; shark bait. She would be eaten whole if she didn't plan everything just right. She was thankful for her sticky fingers. They would help her in the future.

She stood up and approached the door to her cell. She looked out at all the other kids. Most were older than her. Of course they would be. No one was like her. So small with such a bad record. She had stolen over $300 dollars worth of items in the past two years. She smiled to herself at her own accomplishments. She wondered who else was in for thievery.

sahar-luna-facts.jpg
-Tempest-
Tempest cooly looked looked over at the girl who had just asked her a question. Briefly flicking her eyes over the girl, she noticed she had a good 5 inches on her if she tried to cause any trouble. After as few seconds she then decided it would be good to make allies in this hell hole because trouble would inevitably happen and she wasn't going to get out any time soon.

Tempest noticed a deep bruise on the girls face and said "The guards do that to you?" in response to her original question. Bruises marked her arms and right side purple from the guards, violently dealing with the kids here seemed to be their default mode. Tempest waited for a response from the girl as she wondered where they would even sit, considering all of the tables were full with at least one person, and the groups of people were gangs no doubt.

Alex lay in bed, awake long before the breakfast alarm went off. By now, everything was routine to her. After being here for over two years, that tended to happen. She was one of the people who'd been here the longest, at least that she'd been able to figure out. It was just like her mom to sentence her to the fullest extent, just to prove a point. In fact, she knew the woman would be coming today, asking if she was ready to return home.

Hell no.

Hearing the guard coming down the hallway, opening cells, Alex sat up in bed. She wore a pair of grey sweats and a white tank top, and had already brushed her hair and pulled it into a high ponytail. She sat there until she spotted Officer Riggins, who paused by her door, leaning against the bars. "Morning, Parsley." He smirked at her, to which she responded with one of her own.

"Morning, bacon." She responded easily, pushing herself off of her bed and walking over to the gate. "Do I get let out this morning?"

"I suppose, if you're promising to behave."

"Never."

The little bit of harmless flirting between them honestly helped her to not be so bored. She liked seeing how far she could press his buttons. Pushing himself off the bars, he unlocked the cell door and slid it open, allowing Alex to step out. She made sure to walk close to him as she passed, brushing her hand against his arm. He reached out and grabbed her wrist, gripping it tightly.

"No touching, Parsley."

"Whoops." She knew he was the only guard she could get away with it with, and it was fun. So he let her go and she sauntered off, arriving in the cafeteria a few minutes later and grabbing a tray. She glanced around the room before spotting something interesting. Slowly, she made her way towards the familiar face, sitting down across from him and setting her tray down. "Hey." She greeted with a jerk of her chin. "Didn't you just get out of here?"

August noted some of the new people that had already been processed. There was a girl that looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He wracked his brain for a moment as they all walked into the cafeteria. It hit him all of a sudden, she looked like Ryker! He wondered if they were related. That wasn't very common, but it could happen. It could have also been coincidence, he supposed, but doubted it. Ryker was pretty "good", in terms of the kids that were in the detention center. August had only seen him punished a handful of times, and the kid seemed to generally avoid it. That being said, he still hadn't been sent home.

August got in line and got his sad excuse for food, like a good little inmate. He wasn't really up for any sort of punishment today. That being said, it wasn't totally unlikely that a guard would decide that it was just his lucky day. Looking around the room, August spotted a somewhat familiar face. Xavier. The kid had just been here, like, a month ago. What was he doing back? August thought for a moment, before going to sit down at the other end of the table, opposite of where he and Alex, who had been there longer than anyone else, was sitting. He heard her mention he was just here.

August stayed quiet, just listening to what Xavier was going to say. He wondered vaguely where he was going to get roomed this time. August was still the only one in his cell, so there was a possibility to the two would be cellmates. That being said, it seemed like the guards were hell-bent on keeping him alone. He didn't know if it was coincidence or part of his "treatment". Solidarity wasn't the greatest thing.

"A guard clocked me," Rory answered. Then she looked around, the cafeteria was crowded and there weren't much seats left. She decided to sit next to a skinny, black-haired dude. After all, she needed to get evidence of abuse for the CIA case and these two people seemed to have been somewhat damaged. She led Tempest to the table where Ryker was sitting.

"Hi," she gave Ryker a coy smile like her character might. Rory considered telling them why she was here (a spy for the CIA) but decided against it. She didn't think that any of these people were trustworthy, yet.

when the black haired male hesitantly put a spoonful of eggs into his mouth. not bad, better than yesterday's "waffles". when he heard a crunch from the eggs he frowned a little, hoping that it was an egg shell. he didn't wanna look. instead, he swallowed it quickly and washed it all down with some warm water he got. "disgusting.."he mumbled under his breath and pushed the tray aside. he had caught eye of his sister but didn't want to bother her now.

while running a hand through his wavy hair, he heard a 'hello'. he glanced up at the red headed girl that was standing in front of them & when he looked to the side of her, he had seen the girl she had brought with him. "hello"he replied back.

reina raised her eyebrow at the worst excuse for food that the lady had plopped on her tray. what the hell is this? damn. she let out a silent huff and pushed the tray to her side. the blonde crossed her arms over her chest and mentally smirked at the thought of her parents sending her here. this is the best they could do? sososo weak. a very weak punishment. her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a voice. when she looked up and seen the boy, she immediately smirked. cute boys? i knew it. sitting closer towards the edge of the bench, she folded her arms across the table and glanced over him.

"was that supposed to be a compliment?" she teased while leaning forward a little bit.

The teen's hardened gaze was interrupted when he heard the sound of a female voice across from him. He raised his head to see Alex, a familiar face after the bid he just finished up serving. He pondered her question, honestly asking himself the same thing once again. He shrugged, "Once I got outta here, my folks started drilling into me that I needed to consider going into law.." he paused to gather his thoughts. He stirred the slop in his tray, which he finally realized was just really poorly cooked eggs. He grinned "We fought about it. Long story short, I got tired of it and broke into a neighbor's house. 'Course the feds got me, and my folks sent me right back."

He saw in the corner of his eye that another figure had seated at the end of their table. He turned to get a better look, seeing it was August. He hadn't spoken to the kid before, but he had noticed him. Turning his attention back to Alex, he sighed "I overheard they're gonna have me holed up in 245. If my memory is serving me correctly.." he looked back over at August "Isn't that your cell?"

Tempest nodded briefly in response to the guy's "hello". She then sat on the bench next to-well, she never did get the red handed girl's name did she? Before she had the chance to ask what their names were, someone across the room started a fight with another inmate. Tempest stared as the guards did nothin, one inmate beating the other to a pulp. After a good minute the guards ripped them apart and took them out of the breakfast room. Tempest let out a slow breath. "Is it always like that?" She asked to no one in particular. Tempest could fight, she waste worried about that, but she was worried about staying in this prison for a longer time if she had bad behavior.

Elysian laughed lightly. "It's hard to make up pick up lines in this hell-hole, but I try my best for people as gorgeous as you" He said with a wink. He wondered what she was in for. "Here, tell me if this one is better, and I'll go try it on Steve over there just to see the reaction" Elysian nodded towards a guard against the wall about two times the size of him, which was a lot considering how tall Elysian was. After thinking for a brief second, Elysian decided on a line."I didn't know I could find angels in prison" he spoke, with an exaggerated lip bite and hair flip, "So what do you think? Do I have Steve falling at my feet or do I need to try harder?" Elysian asked with a mockingly serious expression and tone.

Alex glanced up as someone sat on the other end of the table, her eyes landing on August. She sent him a small nod of greeting, her eyes lingering a moment before turning back to Xavier. She didn't form many lasting relationships in here; what was the point? At eighteen, she'd be gone. Just a few short months. And she'd made it this far on her own.

But even she got bored of talking to the walls.

Xavier responded then, and she leaned back in her seat, leaving her tray untouched. "Figures, right?" A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she looked around the room, spotting more than one anxious looking newcomer. "Back here, where we belong." The sarcasm in her voice was obvious, along with a touch of disgust. "Once I get out, they'll never have to hear from me again."

She looked back down at August as Xavier turned his attention to the other boy. "You can come down here, you know." She called to him. "I don't bite unless you want me to."

August was looking everywhere except at the people he was sitting near. He tried to pretend like he didn't hear what they were saying, but of course, he was really listening intently. He noticed a new girl, though, with red hair. She was pretty, and seemed to have a lot of energy for someone who had just gotten put in a mild version of hell. But she was new, so who knew how long that would last.

"...Isn't that your cell?" August turned quickly, realizing he was being spoken to. He made eye contact with Xavier, and quickly caught up on what was being said. "Oh - yeah. Yeah that is my cell... didn't think I'd ever get a roomie," he said, partially to Xavier and partially to himself. This was kind of a big deal, actually. August was excited, but a ball of anxiety was also filling in his gut. He had gotten into sort of a routine at the detention center, and now the future was more unknown than it already was.

August fought the blush in his cheeks as Alex spoke to him. Damn, he had really gone too long without talking to anyone. At least, a real conversation. He scooted down anyways, though. If it had been anyone else he probably would have denied, but Alex had been here for forever and Xavier was going to be his cellmate, so it made sense.

"Thanks," he chuckled. "I might have to take you up on that," he said in a half flirty half serious tone. Alex was hot, he had to admit. And even though he hadn't said much, it felt good to be interracting with people again. More like his old self. "I get the top bunk, by the way," he said, nodding his head to Xavier. "I've claimed it."

Nodded. He could tell Alex was being sarcastic but in a way, she was telling the truth. It seemed his own parents couldn't understand him, it was only here that when he spoke about himself or his thought process, that he didn't feel so crazy. A small smile forced it's way to the boy's face when he noticed a light blush come over August's cheeks. He then eyed Alex once his new cellmate slid over to sit with them, quirking a brow at the two. It was nice to see that August was deranged like some of the other kids in this place, at least from what he could tell.

Xavier lay his spoon down in the tray, sliding it aside since he had no intention of eating it. Then, looked back over at August "That's fine by me. Climbing up a bunk every day just isn't my thing." he smiled. He scanned the cafeteria when he heard a commotion a bit away from the trio's table. He sighed when he saw it was just a fight, "Two meatheads probably brawling for the biggest serving of slop. I'm guessing the places hasn't changed much in my absence."

His eyes then went back to the two sitting across from him "So, have you two been keeping outta trouble? Or are you just looking to stir things up still?"

Rory sat down and tried to eat the breakfast. It tasted bland and half-frozen. The food also had a weird smell to it. She made a mental note to write it down in her notebook later. In the center of the cafeteria, there was a fight raging. Rory thought about trying to stop the fight, if only they knew that this place was under the investigation of government, then they wouldn't be so keen to pulverize eachother before they got a taste of freedom, she thought. Rory began getting up but sat back down. This isn't worth it, don't get yourself into trouble so early on, the "play it safe" girl said inside her.

Jacy Stevens

-Day One-

Silence. On a day like this one, all that came from Jacy was silence. Running away hadn’t helped this time. And now, with this kind of place, it definitely wouldn’t help, more-so get them killed most likely. All they did instead was do as the guards told them to do. While they walked, two thoughts kept working inside their head. One was the one that kept their spirits as high as they could: they were finally away from their shitty aunt and uncle! The other, well... they didn’t want to think about it. What it would be like to live in a freaking prison... what the hell?! They could see people being against them for their identities. Make them feel like an alien when they are human just like everyone else. But we’re their identities really prison worthy?!

They sighed as they were directed to the cafeteria, after all of the necessary processes were finished. Now in the prison uniform, they looked just like everyone else. At least it was unisex clothes. While they looked at everyone with a rather lifeless expression, they were shaking in their boots inside. They had never been to a place like this, and the only way they knew what prison life was like whatsoever was through TV and books. They weren’t naive though. They knew the real deal would be much worse, and with them being new on top of being, well, them, they knew they were a dead person walking.

Now that they were in the cafe, the guards that kept the other inmates in line seemed to let them go and sit where they wanted. Which most likely meant cliques and groups, and a confusing time for them to decide where to sit. Jacy found themself not hungry, but they knew that they had no idea when they would get food next, so they got some...something... and looked around for a table. Many of the inmates were around their age, while others were a lot younger. What kind of parents or guardians would send their ten year olds here?! But on the other hand, some of the inmates, even the young ones, looked tough and war-torn. Like they were here for a while and would never be the same. And then there were others that looked as if they were more in Jacy’s shoes. Looking over, they saw that a fight was commencing, and that all the tables were filling up. It was now or never to get a seat, as well as it being now or never before they somehow got caught up in the fight from standing near it. Going over to a table blindly, they sat down with their tray and just looked at their lap, not knowing what to say or how to act around the others at the table. Just no eye-contact, no emotion, and silence for the moment.... well, maybe their nerves were showing despite their efforts. Guess they’d wait and see if it was obvious.

Ashvitha looked around for a place to sit. She saw an orange-haired person sitting alone. Is that a girl or a boy? She thought. Whatever, doesn't matter. I just need to find a way out of this place. Ashvitha walked over to the table that they were sitting at and plopped down right next to them.

"Hey, I'm Ashvitha and this place sucks and I want to get out and will you help me?"

Jacy Stevens

-Day One-
At the sound of someone coming over to them, they turned to face a rather asthetically pleasing girl who looked as if she did modeling or went to pageants, something that had to do with make-up and hair and anything else that made people beautifully irresistible to most.
“Oh, uh...” they didn’t know how to reply to that. A way out? They had no idea.
“Sorry, this is my first day here. I have no idea how to get out, other than the obvious way of being a ‘behaved little child’,” they continued, making air-quotes when saying the last part of their reply.

“Oh, and Jacy here,” they introduced. “Nice to, uh, meet you.”
‘Gosh this is awkward...’ they thought to themself. How did people talk to each other here? What should they say?

"Not one bit..." August muttered, referring to the lack of change in the facility. He wasn't expecting it to change by any means, of course, but that didn't keep him from wishing things were different. He guessed that was what put him apart from those idiots fighting, he hadn't submitted to this lifestyle. Some days, he felt like he did - or he should - but overall he hadn't accepted that he would be stuck here for the foreseeable future.

"I've been pretty good," August replied. "I mean, nothing too horrendous. I got lashed one day since you've been gone I think, and you know, the normal random punches. But other than that they've been leaving me alone. It kind of sucks though. If I'm not retaliating and I'm not trying to "conform"," he spat the last word, "Then I'm just rotting away..." he trailed off. He hadn't expected to say so much, but once his mouth started talking he couldn't stop.

As if to punctuate his sentence, another bell sounded above. "Okay everyone, you know the drill! Get out!" A guard yelled, opening the door to the outside. It was "yard time" as it was most commonly referred to. It was supposed to be a time for excersize or calm, but mostly it led to fighting, illegal drinking and drug use, beatings, and worse. It was August's least favorite time of the day, because it was the most unpredictable.

"Ugh," he groaned, getting up and heading to the door.

Ashvitha sighed. The last thing she wanted to do was behave. I’m sure I’ll be able to find another way out, she thought. As soon as she heard the bell, she got up. It was apparently “yard time” and the guards were all heading outside. A huge wave of people surged forward. Nobody is gonna’ notice if one person is missing right? Ashvitha reassured herself. Then she looked around to make sure no one was watching and made a run for the kitchen. Ashvitha knew that there was always a chute above an oven and she knew she had to climb it. She burst through the kitchen door and climbed up onto the oven. Then she carefully eased herself up the chute. She could hear the meal ladies calling the guards through their walkie talkies. Hurry, time is of essence! Ashvitha was panicking. She was already halfway up the chute but her hands were getting clammy and sweaty. Finally, she reached the pipes and surrendered to her exhaustion. Never in her life had she ever done so much exercise.

Seth chuckled. On the days that he felt numb and disconnected from himself, he always needed a little action to bring himself back to life. Sometimes he beat another kid up, other times he pranked the guards. Sometimes he would even let himself get beat, just so he could feel like the same old Seth again. That girl that just climbed up that chute thingy sure has guts! But she won’t last very long until she reamerges, then the guards will capture her, Seth thought to himself. He wanted to savor those moments when the girl would get whipped and her screams would echo against the walls.

“F**k, what is wrong with you?” He slapped himself in the face over and over again until the dark thoughts went away. Then he followed the mob of bodies to the yard.

Nikola followed the other people to the yard. She wanted her hat so she could pull it over her eyes. It wouldn't stop them from seeing her, but it would stop her from seeing them. Yard time. A time for fights. But the chaos would bring the perfect time to slip her hands somewhere and get some good items. She smiled to herself. It was a decent plan. Unless there were strong people or anybody who had used to work out.
She glanced up from her feet and saw a guy in front of her. He was a great deal taller than her and had the look of some guy who deserved to be in prison. She swallowed slightly and cast her eyes downward again. Don't look at him and he won't look at you. Kinda like bees. But human sized bees that could beat the snot outta you.
