In the beginning there were tribes that wandered the earth. Groups of species with their own cultures, their own deities, their own ways of life. As they grew in numbers and strength wars began to break out, hatred began to take root, and the world descended into chaos. For hundreds of years they fought against each other until a small group of thinkers, inventers, and those that wanted peace founded the great city of Turrim. As the city developed new technologies, new laws, and a peaceful way of life, it became more and more attractive to those that wanted to escape the waring tribes. As generations passed, the hatred the tribes had for one another was forgotten. This new way of life, however, was not meant for everyone and there were those that believed they should return to the ways of their ancestors. The more industrialized Turrim became, the less content the groups were with their way of life. Eventually, these groups of people left the city and returned to the ways of their ancestors. Unfortunately the return to their old ways brought up old feuds again. Species no longer lived in harmony and the tribes reformed. The city remained untouched by these feuds and some even tried to mend the relationships between the tribes. But due to their lack of understanding of the tribes ways, they were unsuccessful. So the wars continue and the city remains the only true safe haven.
The Tribes
The tribes are generally composed of a single species. "Birds of a feather flock together" and all that. Some tribes are composed of more than one species but these are the exceptions. One thing that is similar among the tribes is their rigid belief that they are connected to their deities and their ancestors through the planet and that the industrial ways of the city caused a rift between them and their deities. In short, they all believe that living the way the people of Turrim do is wrong.
What This Means for Players: You have free reign to create a species of your own, complete with appearance, culture, beliefs, way of life, and hierarchy. OR you may choose to join one of the existing species created by other players.
The City of Turrim
The city is a place where all species live in harmony. Most city dwellers possess a strong desire for knowledge, peace, and prosperity. City dwellers can range from low ranking merchants and craftsmen to high ranking scholars and government officials. There is no official army of the city. The city does possess peace keepers, but they do not generally use violence or force to resolve issues. The outer edge of the city is generally composed of those involved in agriculture and production, and are more effected by the wars among the tribes than those within the main part of the city.
What This Means for Players: You are able to determine which rank you would like within the city and how you are associated with the tribes. You may create your own species, school of thought, technology, or other aspect of city life, or join and existing one.
Other Characters
Other characters can include rogues, traveling merchants, or criminals. These are not generally associated with a single tribe or Turrim. They may have an affinity for one group, but are generally wanderers.
Species (to be edited as more are created)
The Lacerta
A draconid type of species. Usually have olive or dark colored skin with colored scales along hairline, on hands and up wrists, across chest beginning at the collar bone and ending in the middle of the sternum. Eyes generally match the color of the scales with some exceptions. Ears are simply holes in either side of their head with a small flap of skin that allows the earholes to be sealed from water or air. Hands and feet are clawed. Common pets include a large lizard-like creature with leathery wings, long muzzles, and horns.
The Perdita
A species capable of shifting between two forms. A humanoid form and beast form. Beast forms can be any non-humanoid form and not necessarily naturally occurring. Humanoid form generally reflects some characteristics of the beast form. Very diverse species that often crosses over with other species. Depending on the cross, the offspring may or may not lose the ability to change forms.
Game Play
Each player will begin in their tribe or within the city depending on their character. From there, the character will decide whether they want to strive towards peace, take over the world, or protect their way of life. As the story progresses, characters will align with each other or against each other. This is meant to be a complex and ongoing plot.
Species Creation
Please define the name, appearance, and special traits of the species. If you have any other information such as beliefs, history, or ways of life, please add that to the species description.
Character Creation
Please specify species, gender, age, location, task/job, physical description, and any other information you see fit to add. I do not require fully developed characters right off the bat. Most characters will be developed as the story progresses, so the basic outline is all that is required for the beginning of your character's story.
