    The world is your stage-
    Own it

Eight countries, eight slots, hundreds of hopefuls. Back in January, X-Change Entertainment announced the competition of the century--a survival show, “E2”. Unlike other survival shows, this one would have trainees from all around the world, causing it to be dubbed the “battle of the countries” show. X-Change hosted auditions in the USA, UK, Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand and Canada. Thousands of hopeful trainees showed up to each audition and after an intensive callback and selection process, the chosen eight were announced.

However, not everything is as it seems. For one, well, the male and female trainees just don’t get along. While they may appear as best friends on camera, there is a lot of bitterness when the cameras are off. But then a discovery is made that may cause them to put the dislike behind and unite around a common cause. Somehow, they find out that the show is rigged and that the girls were set to win from the start. Even though they don’t see eye to eye with the boys, the girls know that this is unfair. Now they’re faced with a dilemma; do they announce it publicly in hopes that it will be changed, or just keep quiet?

hair color: Guangli naturally has light brown hair. He had never in his life dyed it or thought to even do so. Just after being added to e2b, though, the bleached his hair. Now he's a blonde. It was definitely an adjustment waking up and seeing his very blonde head in the mirror. He is just starting to settle with it now, though who knows how long it will be until he has some other wacky color.

    eye color: Dark brown

build: Built for agility, while Guangli is slim, he is strong. Besides his training, he has a regular work out routine that he sticks to religiously. Body proportion wise, he has longer limbs and a shorter torso. He may not be tall (actually he's probably the shortest in the group), he packs a punch.

body modifications: None, surprisingly. He never even pierced his ears. Guangli isn't against it. If he were asked, he'd probably do it. It just was never a concern of his before.

style: When he's on stage or on set, he's styled by a stylist. When he's off stage, he's normally in the practice room, working out, or relaxing at the dorm. His main style is casual, sporty, and comfortable. He's stated before that his favorite brands are Adidas and Puma, so take that as you will. He has an extensive sweatshirt collection that he continues to add to. There are times, though rare, when Guangli actually tries to style himself. If that's the case, it's usually classy, understated, and simple. And whatever he's wearing, it's normally a neutral.

love is ecstasy. Music is godlike. Heartache is a wide, somatic wound.
personality
Ronen's exterior is silent and stoic. He speaks little, but when he does, it's with intention. His presence is like that of a spirit, always present but barely noticeable except for the faint chill in the air. Ronen comes off as silently intimidating -- his inner charm is like the chewy candy of a Tootsie Pop, hidden under a thick layer of a hard exterior.

Internally, Ronen is a passionate idealist. He is far more emotional than his demeanor presents, and is incredibly in tune with his artistic side. He's often single-minded in his goals, but follows his flow of inspiration instead of forcing a schedule upon himself. He's the member who can spend three days straight at the studio, but not go back for a week. Ronen is inconsistent and embraces it.

Ronen isn't visibly affectionate, but he cares deeply about the people who matter to him. He prefers actions over words; Ronen is the type of person who would (attempt) to make his friend's favorite food when they're feeling down instead of trying to talk them through it. He shows his love for his fans by producing songs in their name rather than thanking them in a tweet. He supports others through gestures, not impassioned speeches. In all honesty, he wants to put himself out there more, to be more openly caring, but speaking has never been his strong point, so he tries his best where he can.

Ronen sees beauty in the small things in the world -- the honey-rich tone of a voice, the smooth, cat-like quality of someone's eyes, the effortless flick of a wrist. He's usually up in the clouds, but he's absurdly perceptive to beautiful things people may overlook. He obsesses over converting those ephemeral moments into his music. Ronen is a romantic in all senses of the word, and it's a trait that goes beyond his trade. Ronen falls in love with others easily -- or more often, their qualities -- and the repeated cycle of pining and heartbreak contributes to the poignancy of many of his songs. It's never an enjoyable process, but might as well make the most of it.

While he's not one to be intentionally expressive, Ronen's poker face isn't as strong as people seem to think; his emotions and inner turmoil can often bleed into the furrow of his brow and the set of his mouth. Ronen has a strong sense of right and wrong -- he will typically abandon his silence without hesitation to speak up about it if it affects others, as he has never been particularly shy about such things. From his perspective as an outsider, Ronen has no illusions about who's in the wrong, and will immediately attempt to correct it.

However, when injustice, moral or otherwise, concerns himself, Ronen will be thrown into a conflict about whether or not his own shortcomings played a major role. He doesn't want to face the shame of standing up against something, when in reality, it was his own failures that were at play, and not the failures of the system -- in that case, he will leave himself to fester. What Ronen feels to be unjust and unfair brings upon a roiling thunderstorm of spite in his core, the clouds charcoal black with restrained emotion. He silently contains his feelings to himself, only ever pouring them out into his songs.

Ronen can be self-destructive when left to wither, as he subjects himself to the whipping winds of his internal storm; but like strikes of lightning, however, he lashes out harshly in the rare moments that push him to his limits. He can be spiteful at his peak, and is uncharacteristically cruel in those moments. He'll always feel remorseful and will always apologize, but his behavior can strain his relationships.

vices
aloof, impractical, isolated, overly perfectionist, doesn't take care of his wellbeing, disorganized, can be both self-critical and spiteful towards others

strengths

+ musically inclined: Ronen's background in piano lays the foundation for his musical and compositional prowess, but he's not limited by the constraints of classical training. He's not as well-versed in the technical side of things, but Ronen loves to build upon melodies on the keyboard.

+ dancing: Ronen has a very distinct, fluid style of dancing -- his ballet and contemporary background is very clear. Despite that, he has taken up hip hop within the past few years and it shows. Dancing is the one thing Ronen can freestyle in.

+ lyrically talented: Ronen has always been a talented writer, but most of that skill manifests itself in his lyrics. It's not uncommon to see him use obscure references and metaphors.

weaknesses

- horrible speaker: Ronen is actually fairly eloquent, which is best seen through his lyrics. He has the capability to say impactful things, but he's uncomfortable doing so, especially in interviews and with authority figures. He's not good at public speaking because he's simply not used to speaking up, and will freeze up a lot. Ronen also isn't one for freestyle rapping -- he needs to plan out his words before he speaks. Even around those he's familiar with, Ronen tends to remain silent.

- singing: Ronen's singing skills aren't horrible, but they're mediocre, even for the average person. Whatever perfect pitch he has developed over the years does not translate at all to his singing. It's best if he leaves it all to the other members.

history
Ronen was born into an artistic, but generally comformist family. His father was a renowned concert pianist, traveling internationally and playing in the most famed concert halls. His mother was a prima ballerina who grew up and trained in Paris, and was the principal dancer in Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal. Ronen had an older brother as well -- Aria, four years older than him.

It was immediately expected for Ronen to take up both of his parents' crafts. He started piano when he was barely three years old, and grew to compete nationally. He started taking ballet lessons shortly after with one of his mother's favorite teachers, adding on contemporary when he was five.

Ronen's skill in piano wasn't insubstantial, but he would never match his father, and that was made clear from the beginning. Nonetheless, his father never gave up and pushed him constantly; Aria was considered a failure, and Ronen was his last hope at a protege. Ronen's father was a harsh, unforgiving teacher, but there was a strong current of desperation underlying his every move -- he wanted to have children he could be proud of. He wanted children like him. For the longest time, Ronen couldn't find joy in piano, but he still loved music and he still loved his father, so he persisted.

Ronen picked up the three languages he spoke fairly well, but under his father's short temper and perfectionist attitude, he grew quieter and quieter until his peers couldn't tell if he could speak at all. Ronen's relative silence would improve, but it would persist for the rest of his life.

When Ronen was seven, his mother retired, setting up a dance school and training him personally. She was always strict, but not harsh like his father, and allowed him to explore his own interests. Ronen decided to abandon talking, focusing on dancing, and trying to appease his father through the piano.

While Aria was looked down upon with disdain by their father, and with faint disappointment by their mother, he was always a good brother to Ronen. Perhaps he was reckless and rebellious, but he was warm and popular as well; Ronen was quickly known in school as Aria's baby brother, despite their age gap. When Ronen burst into tears after his father berated him for not being good enough, Aria sat in his room and comforted him, talking about small things, like how the baby birds near their house had grown up, or how he was finally able to buy the trendy shoes he had wanted for so long.

It was Aria who introduced him to both hip hop and rap. He had friends in all sorts of places -- including the more questionable ones. When Ronen was eleven, Aria introduced him to the hip hop groups that he would always dance with in the metro stations. Ronen followed Aria to their meetings, sitting quietly in the corner for the first few months, but eventually joining in. When his mother caught him practicing hip hop in the studio, she stared at him hardily for a good five minutes before signing him up for that class as well.

When Ronen was thirteen, Aria snuck him into the underground rap scene through a nightclub. Ronen watched Aria rap, inspired by Drake and Eminem, and although he found it interesting, it was not something he would've partaken in. Nonetheless, Aria urged Ronen to let him teach his little brother how to rap; it was only years later that Ronen realized that it was Aria's way of trying to get him to become more comfortable with speaking.

Aria was incredibly in touch with the brilliance of the material world and its many sensations. He constantly took Ronen out to see different styles of music and dance -- different styles of art. From then on, it was Ronen who initiated his hobbies. He started writing songs and producing before he turned fourteen, finding joy in poetic lyrics and composing ballads. He flourished with experimentation; music production allowed him the musical creativity that his traditionalist father never did. Although it was Ronen who discovered his love of producing, he heavily credits his brother for guiding him there.

When Ronen was seventeen, his father was diagnosed with heart cancer; he would most likely live for two more years, max. Ronen realized how much he had strayed from classical music and his father's dream for him, and started to put more time back into piano and away from his own hobbies, hoping to place higher and achieve more in his father's field before the man would pass away. It was a chore, an obligation more than anything; Ronen appreciated classical music, but playing it only ever reminded him of the harsh, long days of practice and his father's heavy hand.

By his eighteenth birthday, Ronen's movements were mechanical and lifeless: eat, practice, practice, practice, eat, practice, practice, sleep, and again and again. He felt too guilty to give it up -- how could he betray his father in his final days? -- but Ronen hated his new lifestyle more than anything. One day, Aria, who had moved out a few years ago, suddenly barged into the piano room, rambling about the survival show E2, and how it was absolutely perfect for Ronen to get out of his slump. Ronen had glared at Aria scathingly, yelling that he was doing his duty as a son, something Aria could never even dream of succeeding at.

A week later, when the guilt was so strong that it filled Ronen's empty soul to the brim, he called Aria back, apologizing so desperately that the words tangled up with one another. Aria forgave him with a mild, slightly weary tone, and Ronan breathed a sigh of relief. Despite his wild behavior, Aria was always the enlightened one; before he hung up, Aria told Ronen that there was no use stumbling through an existence he hated when he could walk onto another path and live. Ronen, his thoughts swimming in guilt and years of internal conflict, finally cracked, deciding to dedicate his time to the survival show instead of the upcoming major competition.

Ronen's father only found out about the survival show when Ronen passed the last round. He had yelled at him through the phone until his throat was raw and scratchy, but it was more a feeling of betrayal than anger. Ronen, in that moment of built-up indignation and pity, told his father that he did not want to live out his dream a second time -- he would never reach his father's heights anyway. "You exposed me to music from a young age, and I'm more grateful to you for showing me my life's passion than anything else. So let me use that blessing in my way, because I will never be you." With that, he hung up, and never turned back.

The realization that Ronen's father would probably spend his last moments on Earth watching his son destroy his dreams struck Ronen like a cold, chilling knife in his gut. But by then, he was already in Korea, and it was too late. He couldn't go back -- no, he wouldn't go back. He wouldn't walk away from his dream.

Ronen wants to succeed so he can fulfill his life's hopes. But the desperation of his drive stems from the fact that he cannot let the last thing his father sees of him be his failure in something he never wanted his son to do. Ronen cannot let the sea of shame flood his father's psyche while he stands at death's door. He wants his father to die proud.

family

> KEUM HOJUN (father, 60) -- a classically trained concert pianist, Ronen's father made a strong effort to instill musical talent in his children. Ronen grew up not seeing his father for chunks of time, as he was too busy traveling the world, playing in concerts and with famed philharmonics. However, Ronen's father was a very traditional, in-the-box player, something that Ronen contrasted greatly. He is currently in a hospital in Montreal, a heavy knot of conflicted emotions in his throat as he watches Ronen on TV, counting his last breaths.
> JUNG YESEUL (mother, 56) -- although she was also classically trained, but in ballet rather than piano, Ronen's mother has always been a bit more lax about upholding traditions to a tee. She retired from her professional career when Ronen was seven, deciding to start a ballet and contemporary studio full time. She's honestly a little confused about the direction Ronen decided to go in, but still supports him -- she knows he's talented and capable of succeeding.
> ARIA KEUM (older brother, 22) -- Aria was Ronen's opposite in many ways growing up -- he was rebellious, wild, reckless, and disobedient, but he was warm, friendly, and so self-assured. Underlying Aria's wild child demeanor is a man of surprising enlightenment; he has realized the meaning of life early on, and proceeds to enjoy it fully, while keeping a careful eye on Ronen so that he doesn't veer too far into the abyss.

ana's style isn't particularly eye-catching, but it's difficult to go wrong with. she's fond of showing some skin, most often in the form of exposed collarbones and shoulders, but her everyday apparel is usually just a nice shirt complemented by a sturdy pair of denim jeans. she's well aware she looks killer in a blazer, so jackets aren't an uncommon add-on. H
azel Park is E2G's resident mood maker. She's unashamedly over-the-top, never afraid of being made a laughingstock. In fact, getting the people around her to laugh is exactly her plan, and she doesn't mind acting the fool to make that happen. She's cheerful and personable and loves to entertain: all she wants is for everyone around her to have a good time.

Hazel is full of curiosity about other people. What kind of person are they? What do they like to do? How could she be their friend? Her inquisitiveness makes her try to approach even the quietest of people. She isn't particularly judgemental of others: after all, she's aware that she herself has plenty of qualities deserving of criticism. Because of her warm and open nature, people are often drawn to her, and she's all the happier for it. Her opinion on friends is the more the merrier!

However, she isn't satisfied with only surface-level relationships: she wants to understand people, and wants them to understand her in turn. She wears her heart on her sleeve, so it's a disappointment every time her feelings get trampled all over, but it doesn't deter her in her search for her perfect match, like two puzzle pieces clicking together.

Hazel isn't necessarily conflict-averse. She believes that ripping the band-aid off is usually the best way to go. She doesn't hesitate in initiating the tough conversations, because once all the unpleasant things are done and dusted, everything can go back to normal, right? Although, she doesn't always handle conflict in the most tactful manner. Her emotions often get the better of her. Sometimes her desire to handle problems head-on backfires and makes everything worse. But she's not the type to be stubborn, so it never takes her too long to muster up an apology.

A dreamer in every sense of the word, Hazel loves to indulge herself in flights of fancy. She wants to live a romantic life, one where she's the protagonist of her own story. She easily becomes infatuated with other people, creating an idealised version of them in her head and then being disappointed when they don't live up to that. Hazel does this not only with others, but also with herself. She wants to be the perfect heroine, one who always does the right thing and always has noble motivations. So when she finds her true actions and desires not lining up with that ideal, she experiences a huge cognitive dissonance. As a child, she had no problem living in her own romanticised world. But as she gets older and her own mistakes start piling up, she becomes more and more disillusioned with herself.

Sometimes, Hazel finds herself becoming very jealous of those around her. It's a feeling that occasionally wells up and bursts out of her without permission. She has always been a rather idealistic person, wanting to be the best version of herself she can be. Which is why she's painfully aware that she isn't. After all, she's selfish. She auditioned for this survival show not out of passion, but out of greed. So she deeply envies the other contestants who seem to know exactly who they are and why they're here. Why can't she be like that? Why can't she have a noble goal? When the others talk about their lifelong love of music, their struggles to get here, and their determination to chase their dreams, Hazel is painfully reminded of how undeserving she really is.

In spite of her desperate desire to connect with people, Hazel feels fundamentally detached from them. Sometimes she feels like she's looking up at everyone from below, unable to reach them no matter how much she tries. How could she be their friend? They're too far away. She becomes overzealous in her attempts to make friends to cover up this disconnect, wishing to stand on level ground with them. But if she can't, she doesn't mind resigning herself to being the comic relief. If she can't make herself happy, then she can at least do it for others.

At heart, Hazel is a bubbly and sweet girl who wants nothing more than to bring happiness to as many people as she can, even if she struggles to find it for herself. She is fascinated by and cares deeply for the people around her, and is more than willing to lend an ear at any time.

G
ood morning Hazel-ssi! Would you like to introduce yourself for the camera?"
Of course! Hiya! I'm Hazel Park or Park Hye-mi, you can call me either. I'm ninet- sorry, I mean twenty-one, I'm still getting used to the whole Korean age thing. I feel really old saying that I'm twenty-one, haha! I'm a lead dancer, lead vocalist, and the visual of E2G.

"Nice to meet you, Hazel! Do you mind sharing your reasons for auditioning?"
Hmm... it's a secret! Just kidding. Well, to keep it simple, it was for my family.

"A very concise answer! I can respect that. What songs did you choose for your audition?"
Ooh, well, for the initial audition I sang 'Defying Gravity'. I'm a complete musical theatre nerd, so I just had to! For the callback, I performed'The Western Sky' by Lee Seung-chul. You gotta have a ballad in there, right? And for the final round I sang 'You & I' by IU. I love her voice so much!

"A wonderful line-up of songs! Now, can you tell us a little bit about your strengths?"
I supposed you could say I'm well-rounded. Not to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty good at both singing and dancing. I've been told I have a lyrical voice, and I'm light on my feet as well. Also, I just love to put on a show! If there's one thing I would never do, it's bore my audience. After all, it's my job to help everyone have fun, right?

I also like to think I can be pretty funny sometimes. Honestly, half the time it's not on purpose, but as long as it cheers people up I don't really mind, haha! What else? Does it make me sound conceited if I say I'm pretty? Because if I'm being honest, I think I'm pretty. I'd say I get along well with lots of people too, I try to make everyone feel at home.

"And could you describe some of your weaknesses"
I can't rap. Like, AT ALL. It just comes out as 'akdsknsdfls'. I don't know how rappers do it, but they seriously have my respect. Also, I'm not really very involved in the creative process. I can take a song and a choreography and perform it just fine, but if you asked me to come up with one myself? I'd draw a total blank. And, this one might be a little TMI, but I get really emotional sometimes! I wish I could be more rational but I guess it's just not in my nature haha.

"Let's take a breather with some lighter questions now! Do you have a favourite food?"
I love love LOVE spicy food. I used to not eat much Korean food, but nowadays I'm completely obsessed with spicy galbijjim!

"And what about your favourite colour?"
Maybe yellow? I've never really thought about it before.

"What about your favourite movies and TV shows?"
I recently watched Snowpiercer and it was so good!

"What's your ideal type?"
Someone who can be my greatest confidant! And also, I think, someone who's more down-to-earth and rational. I feel like that kind of person would be able to keep me grounded, you know?

"And finally, who is your role model?"
Okay, this is going to sound really cheesy, so please don't laugh! My role model's my dad. I look up to him a lot!

"Aww, that's really sweet. Well, thank you for doing this interview with us, and best of luck in the competition!"
Thank you so much! I had a great time today. Hopefully I'll see you guys again sometime as an official member of E2G!

H
azel Park was born on December 5th in the year 2000 in Strasbourg, France to Park Hyun-soo and Isabelle Durand. Both of her parents had been fresh-faced eighteen-year-olds when Hazel was born, Hyun-soo being a second-generation immigrant from South Korea and Isabelle a native French girl. The pair met at sixteen and fell in love. They dated for a year before Isabelle fell pregnant with Hazel. They both had very different reactions to the sudden pregnancy — Hyun-soo had always been family-oriented, and while this was earlier than expected to say the least, he wanted to keep the baby. Isabella, on the other hand, wanted to put her up for adoption, not yet ready to be a mother. After Hazel was born, they came to the agreement that Hyun-soo would have sole custody of her.

Because of this somewhat unusual situation, it had always just been Hazel and her dad when she was growing up. Her dad had become estranged from his family, so she had little recollection of what kind of people her grandparents were. But she never really felt the absence of her mum and her extended family. After all, how could she miss something she'd never had? She got more than enough love and affection from her dad anyways. She didn't feel lonely when she saw other kids being picked up at school by their mothers. She didn't feel lonely when they spoke of having play-dates with their cousins. But sometimes she did realise how alone she was, when she sat at the kitchen table doing her homework at eleven at night, waiting for her dad to get home from his third job so he could read her a bed-time story.

During Hazel's early life, her family was extremely poor. Hyun-soo had barely graduated high school, so he was constantly jumping between jobs: retail, food service, construction, cleaning, he did whatever he needed to do to keep him and his daughter afloat. They lived in a dingy half-basement apartment, with mold growing on the walls like dark fur. Being a child, Hazel complained about their situation. Loudly. And being the adult, Hyun-soo worked longer and harder to provide a better life for her. It wasn't until much later that she realised how much her words had affected her father, and began to feel the stomach-churning mix of gratitude and guilt that came with that realisation.

Hazel was a hyper child. Her teachers at school described her as 'very disruptive in class', 'easily distracted', and 'incapable of sitting still'. Realising she needed a way to let out her pent-up energy, her dad enrolled her in a stage school. The school taught all kinds of performance: singing, dancing, and acting. She took to it like a duck to water. She was the kind of person who loved to entertain, so musical theatre came naturally to her. She was obsessed with it, always putting on performances for her dad at home and her friends. She was always active, always on the move, always trying to put a smile on people's faces. Her love for musical theatre became a part of her identity. She was a natural performer.

As both Hyun-soo and Hazel grew older, the burden of poverty began to lessen. Hyun-soo received his qualification to be a personal carer when Hazel was twelve, so he finally had a stable source of income. They didn't have a lot, not by any means, but they weren't living paycheck to paycheck anymore. Now that Hyun-soo didn't have to worry about impending homelessness, he could finally spend as much quality time with his daughter as he wanted. Hazel and her father were extremely close. She always considered him her best friend, the person who she could trust with anything. Even when she messed up, she never felt she had to hide it from him. She talked to him about everything — her hobbies, the latest show she had watched, the gossip in school, and as she got older, even her love life. In short, she was what one might call a 'Daddy's girl', and she would forever be grateful for it.

Despite being a social kid with lots of friends, Hazel always felt a certain sense of... otherness. At the age of around eleven, not long before puberty hit, she became hyper-aware of the fact that this was because of her Korean heritage. The way she looked immediately made her stand out among her white peers. Even though she felt French, others saw her as a foreigner. But even though she wasn't quite French, she wasn't quite Korean either. She had learned bits and pieces of Korean from her dad, but they mostly spoke to each other in French. It made her feel guilty, as if she had abandoned part of her identity, even though it wasn't her fault. And when she saw her dad starting to forget some of his Korean, she felt guilty too. After all, if he wasn't estranged from his parents, he'd still have people to speak his mother tongue with. She started to study Korean, out of a desire to reconnect with a culture that had been lost to her.

In her teenage years, she began to see that her father wasn't the strong, invincible superman that she'd perceived him to be as a child. His back ached and the lines around his eyes that appeared when he smiled began to deepen into wrinkles. He was older and weaker now. But he was still working just as hard to keep him and his daughter afloat. Once again, Hazel felt guilty. He had sacrificed so much for her and never once complained about it. When she saw him living like this, she wanted to be rich. She wanted to give her dad a cushy life where he'd never have to worry about putting food on the table again. She wanted him to be able to go to university like he'd always wanted to without worrying about debt.

So when she saw the casting call to audition for a K-pop survival show, it gave her an idea. It seemed like the perfect opportunity. If she could hit it big with this K-pop thing... well, that would give her everything she'd been wishing for. And she had a solid foundation in singing and dancing, so it wasn't like she'd be starting from scratch. But she had never really considered music as a career. She had always felt that pursuing musical theatre would corrupt her pure, unfettered love for it with things like competition and her own fear of failure. And when she thought about it, she didn't have the greatest motive for joining this show either. She was just chasing after money. How... unromantic. But what did she want more? To follow her ideals, or to give her dad the life he deserves?

When she told him that she wanted to audition, he was surprised to say the least. "You like K-pop?" He had asked. She didn't dislike it. She just didn't know much about it. But she had done some research and she thought the music was pretty good. Was it something she was prepared to do for the rest of her life? She wasn't sure. But she was prepared to give it a try.

It was a shock when received a call-back and was told to get ready to get ready to go to Korea. She wondered whether her getting this opportunity had crushed someone else's dreams, the dreams of someone who probably wanted it more and probably deserved it more than she did. But this was her chance. And so she packed her bags and moved to Korea, a country that was completely alien to her and yet so nostalgic at the same time.

❝ Persona. ❞

Personality:

Larry is the embodiment of what it means to be lazy and eat everyday. But people always mistake this as incompetence or being in a constant state of procrastination. When he was to work hard, Larry always gives 110%, dedicating practice to rapping and Korean practice as its his second language and is less fluent compared to his first language, English. Because of his dedication to practice and improvement, it causes him to power down and spend most of his days snacking, being on his phone, or taking naps. Because he's a very laidback guy and also a very open person, he's very approachable though isn't the type to be looking for anyone to open himself up to. He's more than willing to offer friends advice and speak up whenever he feels something's wrong with him or someone else.

His two faces are mainly RFB and always smiling. The former is what people mistake Jinyoung for being pissy about something but that's usually his normal look in most situations. In intimate moments he's always happy and expressive, always laughing and being in a perpetual state of chill. He's humor has devolved to the point where anything can make him laugh, he may laugh in the most random apathetical circumstances and he would always get a lot of looks of concern when he giggles in public when he remembers a funny joke or conversation he remembered.

He drinks bottles of water and milk everyday like its his life, cause he would always spend days in his room when he was younger producing and practicing his rap skills until he thought he deems his work satisfactory. When Larry wasn't refining his talent, he practiced cooking as his parents were never fans of eating take out and they always wanted him to be independent, learning to cook was one of them. However his knowledge is narrowed down to a lot of cheat food like pizza, pasta, and greasy sandwiches. But because of his fast metabolism, weight gain was never a problem for him.

All in all, Larry's a hardworking and dependable guy, he acts within his own limits and looking to adapt to the world around him.

Vices - Oversleeps, Overworking, Not a good dancer, Apathetic, Tardy

Virtues - Sympathetic, Open-minded, Cheerful, Hardworking, Supportive

Strengths:

Rap: His flow is influenced by a lot of rnb and mellow rhthyms but is also really willing to experiment with other flows and styles to expand his repertoire of talent.

Music production: Larry loves playing around with his favorite music producing software, logic pro and is also well versed in the piano and guitar so he has no problem when it comes to making a beat to match his flow.

Great chef: While Larry doesn't know how to cook a lot of stuff, he has perfected a lot of the foods he already knows how to make to the point where he can switch ingredients without any problems.

Wekaneeses:

Sleep depravation: Because Larry is passionate about his work, he takes a lot of all nighters to finish his projects which causes him to take a lot of naps during the day/afternoon.

Dance: Larry never practices his dance due to his dedication to talents he's well versed in. While he does have the coordination to dance, his body doesn't have the endurance to do consistent practice

Unhealthy eating: By not incorporating a lot of fruits and vegetables to his diet, this worsens Larry's sleep deprivation to the point where he can spend a whole 12 hours sleeping

Likes: Pizza, pasta, breakfast sandwiches, rice, water, milk, mood lights, digital art, basketball shorts, night clubs, McDonalds, flirting, breezes, laughing, weather 20.5556 C and below, kids, puroresu, trains, trams, being shirtless, stationary, bananas, his phone, holding hands, hugging, petting, holidays, cooking

Dislikes: Messy rooms, pants, suits, soda, early birds, alarm clocks, air mattresses, twin sized beds, weather above 20.5556 C, oatmeal, foot massages, saunas, celery, spring, summer, wide open spaces, broken escalators, animal crossing, Multiplayer, Busses, Hiking, the smell of chlorine, hunger, salads, standing up for the national anthem, formal events, seafood, most authority figures, dance studios, being woken up

MBTI: ENFP-A

❝ history. ❞

Larry's childhood wasn't easy, his parents were wealthy Korean immigrants who moved to Portland after his father got a job there which also granted opportunities to work in California as well. He never saw much of him, he was a project manager who worked for a software company and spent many days in Silicon Valley. Before Larry was born, His mother was an accountant who worked for the same bank and because his father's job paid more, his mom was the one who raised him. Because of that Larry would barely talk to his father and there was a huge emotional disconnect between them. At around 8 years old a split between his parents became more noticeable as they would fight every night in Korean, Larry could only pick up bits and pieces of what they would say but anyone could figure out it was hard for them to make up given their fighting was constant. When Larry's mom figured out her husband was cheating on her, Larry's dad left to live in California and never forgave him for hurting his mother. It took a while for her to recover. Larry was 11 when it happened and he was in no mature shape to care for his mother.

When his grandparents heard, they came to console her daughter in her time of need. Her sorrow trickled down to Larry and felt a sense of isolation not knowing how to cope. Music was always something he found solace in, especially rnb. It was the only thing that comforted him when he felt useless and regretful that he wasn't strong enough to be there for him mom, instead learning to embrace his situation and fight through it. He would feel the need to write down his blues into songs of his own and eventually would learn how to play the guitar and piano. For his 16th birthday he got his own laptop with music production software where Larry would then spend nights making his own music. He then found more influences in Korean artists like Sik K, DPR, Jay Park, Heize, Hoody, IU. This encouraged him to practice his Korean and writing songs in Korean, though challenging at first he had been able to expand his vocabulary through songwriting as well as talking to his grandparents.

❝ Audition. ❞

Why an idol?

Pretty easy question. A lot of young people face a lot of problems no matter what age they face them and hip hop and rnb are personified through struggle, passion, and raw emotion. He wants to eventually use his platform as an idol to spread youth empowerment and also find artistic inspiration through working with other artists and face criticism on a massive scale to refine his style and would want to spend his life making music as his career.

Why audition?

It was a chance for Larry to experience Korea on his own and take in the culture through his own lens in order to influence his creativity. His family were also very supportive, understanding how passionate he was with rap and music. Being the free and explorative spirit that he was, he was super eager to try and make it as an idol of sorts and realize his dream.

Initial Audition: Suga - Seesaw

Callback: Crush - Digital Lover

Final Round: DPR Live - Know Me (feat. DEAN)
