The limo stopped right in front of the school doors as it did every weekday, but unlike every weekday Adrien Agreste didn't want to go to school today. He looked over to his bodyguard and said, "Hey, I'm not feeling very well today. Maybe i should just go home?"
As usual, the bodyguard didn't answer. Adrien sighed, grabbed his backpack, and opened the door. It just didn't feel right, going to school today when so much was wrong with the world right now! Ladybug is gone and Paris is solely under his protection. He never felt so isolated from his peers.
"Aww come on, look at the bright side," Adrien heard Plagg say from inside his shirt pocket, "There hasn't been a Kwami in weeks!"
"Plagg! Stay hidden!" Adrien shoved him further inside. "And don't talk to me right now. The last thing I need is for people to think I talk to myself."
Adrien started walking up the stairs into school, his mind on anything but. He didn't even notice Nino walking right beside him.
"Hey dude. Woah, Earth to Adrien. Where's your head at?" Nino asked, waving his hands in front of Adrien.
"What? Oh, hey Nino. Sorry, just feeling a bit off today." Adrien said, smiling unconvincingly.
"Oh, is it because Marinette moved away?"
"Oh, uh, yeah I guess that's it," Adrien lied. "She was a good friend."
"Yeah, I know Alya is a bit bummed by it too. But hey, life goes on. You'll be ok, dude."
Nino and Adrien headed into the classroom and sat in their usual front seats. Adrien tried to look as happy and not stressed out as he could be. After all, Marinette leaving wouldn't be a cause for stress. Someone might think something else is up with him.
