The coven has always operated in secrecy, using their magic to protect their town from supernatural threats. Lately strange occurrences have shaken their peace: streetlights flicker and hum with energy, people go missing without a trace, and static filled broadcasts interrupt local radio stations, repeating the same chilling phrase: "The black signal is coming".
The small eerie town of Ashwood Hollow nestled in a valley surrounded by dense ancient forest. Ashwood Hollow is a small but peculiar half abandoned town with a history of unexplained events. Overcast skies dominate the town with fog rolling in most mornings and evenings. The air smells faintly of woodsmoke and damp earth, and the streets are often quiet save for the occasional sound of wind chimes or distant church bells. The lantern style streetlights line the main street castin dim pools of light at night.
Established in June of 1692, the witches that came before settled in Ashwood fleeing persecution of the witch trials. The witches would help found and establish the town protecting it with woven magic seals all around the area the town had been built. After many years, it seems that the protective seals have weakened and the many strange events have begun.
The growing yet alarming number of residents disappearing, some returning and having lost all memory, some returning too shocked to speak save one word "The beacon". Believed to be lured into the forest or what are referred to as the shadow zones created by something dark, presumably this beacon. The residents have searched high and low for this beacon to no success.
The vanishing hour as the residents refer to it. Every night at precisely 2:17 AM, a strange phenomenon occurs. For exactly seventeen minutes, clocks in the town stop, electronics malfunction, and all sound ceases. During this time shadowy figures are seen walking the streets or peering into windows. Anyone outside claims to feel a chilling hand brush their shoulder, but turning around reveals nothing.
The bridge leading out of the town occasionally vanishes and is replaced by a thick mist. Drivers who attempt to cross during these times find themselves back where they started no matter which way they go and some claim to have heard voices in the mist urging them to turn back. Occassionally an otherworldy market appears behind Main Street during the vanishing hour and vendors with glowing eyes sell strange wares- jars of moonlight, bottled whispers, or cursed trinkets. Buyers often regret their purchases, as the items seem to bring bad luck or strange dreams.
Trees seem to murmur and whisper at night in the forest and on certain nights, townsfolk report seeing a parade of ghostly figures marching down Main Street dressed in old fashioned clothing, carrying lanterns that emit an otherworldly blue glow and reenacting events from the town's history.
All these events happening with more occuring seemingly every month, and to add to the coven's growing number of problems, a mysterious benefactor has appeared in town and taken residence at the old motel making himself known to the witches and claiming to be there to help; can they really trust his words? With all of this happening and having this "Black signal" to worry about, the coven will certainly have their hands full. Will they be able to solve these problems and kee the town safe, or will the town be overtaken by the darkness to come?
