Somebody's Nobody, Nobody's Somebody

Imagine...

Waking up. The house is quiet--an unfamiliar sound. The usual sounds of buzzing traffic are nonexistent. Before you can even lift your hand up to rub the groggy sleep from your eyes, a shrill scream pierces through the air and into your head. You jump, startled by the sound, and lift the light covers off of you. Everything in your bedroom seems the same. Suddenly, you feel dizzy from standing up too fast and lean on your dark wooden nightstand for support. Your curtains blow softly in the slight breeze pouring in through your open window and you quickly realize that you forgot to close it last night. Oh well; it doesn't look like you've been robbed, so you cross the small bedroom and head for the window. As you grow closer to the opening, you can hear a faint moaning sound. Probably those kids from next door playing outside again, you think with a sigh. They often shook you from your sleep with their cries of joy and the various sounds of creative make-believe. The curtains feel soft to your touch as you spread them open, observing the large open field before you. A quiet yelp of fear escapes you and you almost fall backwards at what you see. "Oh, my..." It's not the children at all, but you almost wish it was.

- What You See...

You press yourself against the wall opposite of the window, heart pounding and your breathing heavy and panting. A million thoughts race through your mind like bullets and the overwhelming dizzy feeling floods back over you. “This is a joke,” You whisper in an attempt to reassure yourself. “This isn’t real. It can’t be.” Yet your attempts at self-assurance do nothing to calm your anxious nerves. Something about the situation at hand feels all too real. But it can’t be… These things don’t just happen out of the blue. This is a practical joke. Someone’s pranking me.“You can come out now,” You shout at the window, still not daring to near any closer to it again. “I know this is a joke.” But nobody answers. Nobody calls back. The atmosphere is chillingly silent, aside from the pained moans escaping the creatures just outside.

Alexis twisted the pink earbud nestled in her ear to fit it in better. It wasn't doing much to drown out the sound of Mike's snoring, so she turned up the volume a bit on her iPod. Yellow by Coldplay blasted from the earbuds and into her ears, the song drowning out all sounds around her and filling her mind with peaceful thoughts. I knew we should have taken the car, She thought, wishing that she had tried harder to convince Mike. They had recently ridden out to Atlanta for three days to visit one of Mike's old military friends. Much to Alexis's disapproval, they stayed at a five-star hotel and resort with a spa and Tiki- bar. She loved it, but she didn't know if their bank account would. The nightly fee plus the money Mike spent on beer and booze each night would most definitely without a doubt consume the whole of her next unemployment check, not even to mention the expenses of their two-way train tickets. Alexis sighed, leaning her head to the side to rest on Mike's shoulder. She grabbed his hand from where it lay motionless on her thigh and lifted his arm up and around her shoulders. Right as she closed her eyes to drift off into the same distant realm of sleep and join Mike in his peaceful journeys of slumber, her music was silenced and the train began slowing down. Heads turned and hushed voices murmured curious questions down the train cart, some people visibly experiencing the same loss in cell service as her. The train slowed to a screechy gradual halt and she looked out the window train window behind her, only to see the wall of a train tunnel peppered with purple spray-painted graffiti. They weren't at the station, yet the train had stopped. Some people called out questions, like "What happened?" or "Is everything okay?" but nobody seemed to panic. Probably just a simple malfunction in the tracks or the like. Several feet away, the metal doors separating Alexis's train car from the next slid open, interrupting her curious thoughts and causing her to lean forward to view who had entered their car. A middle-aged Asian woman wearing a blue pantsuit stepped through, a look of confident reassurance plastered on her face.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we apologize for the sudden inconvenience of your train ride." She used hand motions and gestured as she spoke, similar to a flight attendant. Perhaps it was sign language. "We thank you for your patience and ask that you sit tight until we have the issue resolved."

Some people on the cart continued to call out questions or demands, but the woman only sustained the same look of false security on her wrinkled face as she walked down the aisle toward the door leading to the next train car.

"Why didn't they just use the intercom?" Mike groaned, startling Alexis with his sudden unexpected wake. Just as he began to speak, the lights above began to flicker. A few tile lights went out completely, but the remainder of them only continued to switch between off and on.

"I, umm, I think they're loosing power," Alexis observed, leaning her head back to once again rest on Mike's shoulder. He stroked her hair with his hand that was resting on her shoulder.

Mike shrugged and set his chin on the top of Alexis's head, his light brown stubble complimenting her subtle honey-blonde hair.
"I hope we get home in time. We're only about a mile from the Titrus station, I think,"

Alexis nodded under the light weight of his head and closed her eyes, pulling out the pink earplugs that were still uselessly lodged in her ears.

Wolfheze waited at Titrus station tapping his foot with impatience. The one day he got away from the base and he was going to waste it at this damn station. Wolfheze was unable to change out of his army fatigues which wasn't comfortable but it would help him be noticed.

Claudia Johnson

Good Eats Diner

"Here we are, sir. One classic cheeseburger with an order of fries. And another Coke since I saw you were needin' one. Anything else I can get for ya?" Claudia asks in her best waitress voice. The man she's serving is fat and greasy, sharing the same basic traits of his meal. You are what you eat, they say. After the man mumbles a barely audible. "No ma'am", Claudia retires to the kitchen. Miss Mary is leaning against the counter next to the grill, fanning herself with a stack of napkins.

"AC must be busted again," the old woman grumbles.

"I keep tellin' you, Bart ain't no good with tools. The man couldn't fix a kink in a hose. You oughtta hire a real repair man," Claudia answers, automatically moving to the dishes. As she starts scrubbing away the last lunch hour, she hears the radio in the dining room switch to Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash. She can't help but grimace. That song has been a favorite on this station all week and frankly, it's getting old.

"Mmph. Maybe I oughtta get your ass out of my diner, and we may be able to afford it," Miss Mary says as she leaves the kitchen to restock the napkin holders. The old woman doesn't mean it, of course. She's been threatening to fire Claudia since the day she took her on.

When the woman returns, she comes bearing news. "Customer's calling for ya, Claude."

Claudia hates it when Miss Mary calls her by the masculine form of her name. Or maybe she only means to shorten it. Either way, she's less than thrilled when she hears it. She just asked if the man needed anything, and he said no. Now her hands are all greasy from washing dishes. If he has a complaint about the food, then by God's good name...

"Yes, miss? I think this burger is a little undercooked...could you--Miss?"

Claudia wasn't listening. She could have sworn she saw something move behind the building across the street.

"Miss? Ma'am, this burger is undercooked...What are you looking at?" the man's chin wobbles as he turns his head to the large window. "I don't see anything out there--"

"Hush up." Claudia orders softly.

"Excuse me? I'd like to speak with your manager!"

"I said hush up!" Claudia snaps, slamming her palm against the table.

The radio starts crackling, cutting out words as the frequency it's on goes dead.

♫Fell....down......burning......fire!♫

Titrus-Bound Train

The remainder of the lights go out in the station and it causes a slight panic. People pull out their phones or try desperately to contact friends or family members, but nobody has luck. The power is out, and by the lack of data waves coming from the phone lines, it was safe to assume the entire city had lost power. Alexis flinched as the lights died out and the train was plunged into complete and utter darkness. Instinctively, Alexis reached for her cell phone to put use to the build in flashlight. Although they didn't have service, it was a basic operation to the device and could still be used.

Everything looked the same, even outside the train windows. She didn't see any problem with where they were, so it was in deed probably a city-wide power outage. It happened often; the small town didn't have the best service when it came to
anything except putting people into solitary confinement. It was a lonely but quaint little town.

"Wait," Alexis spoke, loudly enough for Mike to hear her over the sounds of panicking passengers. Around the corner of the bend in the tunnel, she could see a faint outline of a figure--human figure--walking. "There's someone out there. Uhh, here's someone on the tracks."

"The station must've cut out all the electricity. Gotta save the damn man. He look alright?" Mike didn't bother looking behind him, only, gazed down lazily at the floor.

"I can't tell. Wait--there's a few of them," She was surprised to see many of them, almost like a horde. Maybe it was just a group of dumb teenagers just trekking along the train tracks. "Umm, they're all limping. They, uhh, they look injured,"

Mike perked up from his distracted stare and twisted his lean body to face the window where Alexis was facing. It was hard to see specific features of any sort, such as clothing or hair, but you could still clearly make out the outlines of their bodies.

A few other people down the car noticed them looking out the window and gathered around to see what was happening. Still nobody could see well enough to make out what they might be doing there.

A feminine shriek pierced through the ears, triggering a wailing baby a few seats away and causing everyone to turn their heads. The woman who screamed was walking backwards away from the window, trying to put as much distance between it and herself as possible. A few people gasped or others screamed as well at what they saw outside the window. Alexis only stared, too paralyzed with fear to say anything, as Mike swore under his breath and grabbed her, pulling her face to his chest so she wouldn't have to look anymore.

- What they saw...

tumblr_lcm0bx2KvJ1qze5g2o1_500_zpsqa8ep5wc.gif

So many of them, just pressed against the glass window. They were humans--or they looked human. Somewhat human, rather. Most people looked away or screamed, but some fearless people approached the window. Alexis and Mike only sat huddled together, trembling, fearing their own lives--and each other's.

((Sorry for the crazy length.))

Character(s): Aoyama Jiro / Aoyama Rei

Location: Titrus-bound train

Rei was miserable. That much was evident by the bored, I-don’t-want-to-be-here look on her face. Of course her family would pick the most random, out-of-the-way, unheard of place to go and call it a vacation. What it actually was supposed to be, though, was some kind of bonding experience—a short, inexpensive getaway to bring them closer together. What it really was: a joke.

She could have actually been enjoying her summer instead of riding out from Atlanta, the city she called home, to some backwater town. Instead, she was stuck on a train with her parents and older brother on her way to a place called Titrus. If what she saw outside of the window was any indication of what the town was going to be like, she was going to be in trouble.

“There is no escape,” Yuta, her older brother, whispered in her ear.

Rei looked over at him, a scowl marring her features.
“Leave me alone,” she hissed.

Yuta frowned and poked her. “Hey, I am your only ally on this train right now. This isn’t how I want to spend my summer, either.”

She glanced him over, as if determining whether or not she really wanted his comradery.
“I’d sooner prefer the company of those trees,” she decided, motioning out the window.

Gaki,” her brother said, nudging her roughly.

Baka,” she shot back, shoving him back onto his side of the seats.

“Hey, you two, be nice,” her mother chided, leaning over. “Jiro,” she prodded the uptight-looking man sitting next to her, “make your children behave themselves.”

Rei glanced over at her father. What kind of man wore a business suit on a vacation? She hadn’t expected anything less, to be honest. Or, his constant attention paid to his cell phone. Work came first for him, his family second.

Suddenly, the train rolled to a stop.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we apologize for the sudden inconvenience of your train ride. We thank you for your patience and ask that you sit tight until we have the issue resolved.”

Kuso,” Jiro swore as his cellphone lost power.

“Jiro,” Kana chided.

The lights flickered dangerously around them before dying completely, causing some panic. Rei glanced around her, shifting uncomfortably and nervously in her seat.

“What’s happening?”

Daijoobu,” Yuta tried to soothe. “Everything’s fine, right?”

“Wait. There’s someone out there. Uhh, there’s someone on the tracks.”

Rei looked out the window again, straining to see whom the female was talking about. Then there came the first scream. Reactionary, Rei stood, along with her brother.

Matte,” her father commanded them. “Wait.”

He stood, maneuvering into the aisle. Kana followed, grasping his arm for protection. Her eyes were wide with fear and concern.

“Mother?” Rei asked, looking for clarification. Her heart beat against her chest. “What’s happening?”

People began to back away.

“Grab your sister,” Kana ordered her son. “Stay close.”

Yuta grabbed Rei’s arm and pulled her with him.
“What’s going on?” she asked desperately. “You’re hurting me.”

“Be quiet,” Jiro hissed.

He saw what everyone saw. The bloodied face pressed against the train window, trying to get in, to feed on more people. None of it made sense. It wasn’t his work or the useless cellphone laying back on the seat cushion that was foremost on his mind. It was his family and their present safety.

“We have to get out of here.”

Character(s): Reid Taylor

Location: Good Eats Diner

Though there wasn’t much to choose from in town, Good Eats Diner was Reid Taylor’s favorite. Always solo, he tended to sit at the counter, so as to not take up too much space. He had on his leather jacket over the black tee issued by the fitness center he worked at located in the new mall. He had been employed at the previous one that had stood in the same lot before it had been leveled to accommodate said mall. The new recreational center was going for a more rugged, modern look, allowing him to wear his faded jeans with the simple shirt. They figured it was enough to have the word ‘staff’ scrawled across his shoulder blades in large, white block letters.

It wasn’t difficult for him to ignore the complaints of the portly customer just a little ways away. He had gotten quite good at being invisible.

“I said hush up!”

That wasn’t something one heard every day in the diner. Reid couldn’t help but turn his attention toward Claudia. Then the radio started to go. It wasn’t the most reliable of electronics, but it didn’t normally cut out. The silence it left in its wake was eerie, forboding.

Reid stood from the stool, his half-eaten sandwich still on the counter. His eyes were drawn to the window, as well, or what was outside of it. He slowly stepped closer and closer to it, as if trying to make clear what he was seeing. But, no matter how much closer he drew, his mind still arrived at the same answer.

It was a man who worked in the mall. In fact, he owned the electronics shop next door to the fitness center. He was limping, actually stepping on a bent, obviously broken ankle. But, he steadily came toward the diner. His arms hung limply at his sides. There was a mess of something starting at his opening, snarling mouth and spilling down the front of his uniform.

Reid leaned in close to the window, straining to make out what it was.
“Is…Is that blood?” he said, his voice carrying over the silence in the diner.

Titrus - Bound Train

"Mike," Alexis whispered, her voice quavering with fear. "What was that?"

"I don't know," He responded, releasing her from his tight grasp and standing up to survey the train car. "We need to get out," He ran to the nearest sliding metal door and pressed the button that was supposed to open it. "No power," He quietly recollected, banging his strong fist against the door. It didn't even make a dent--those things were life-proof. The only other way to get out of the train car was through the window, but not until that thing was gone. It was probably some escapee from the home for criminally insane.

"There's nowhere to go," Alexis murmured, her eyes still wild with fear. "There's nothing we can do." She rubbed her belly protectively, her mind racing with a million thoughts that she couldn't silence.

"We have to get through the doors," Mike called out to the entire train car, gesturing to the nonfunctional metal doors. "They won't open."

"Mike," Alexis stood up next to him. "We can't do that. The power is out."

"I know that!" He shouted through clenched teeth, slamming his fist on the wall.

Claudia Johnson

Claudia is surprised to hear the man's voice. She could've sworn he'd left by now. She ignores the fat man's sudden cry. "What..what the hell happened to that man?" he exclaims.

One thing is for certain. Claude isn't playing this game. She ignores everyone in the diner, even Miss Mary's sudden shriek from the kitchen. She pushes open the aluminum door to the diner with such force that it hits the nearby railing with a sharp crack.

"What the hell is this? What kind of fool game are you playing?" She asks furiously. It isn't like her to lose her cool, but this is downright sick. She quickly makes her way toward the man, who is groaning like a madman with a stomachache. She begins contemplating exactly how hard she wants to beat his ass for pretending to be some kind of undead...thing. Why was he doing this? To give her customers a good spook? She had enough work to do without having to clean up someone's vomit...then she hears it. To her right, a sound like dozens of scuffling feet against hot Georgia pavement.

"What are y'all doing, playing around like this? Y'all look grown enough to know not to try and pull something so downright disrespectful!" Claudia calls to the small crowd. Then she starts noticing details. Things not even a master makeup artist could pull off. Missing eyes. Flesh torn near off the bone.

"Wh...What the hell?" The fear is plain in her voice.

Victor had spent the most of the train ride relaxed in his seat, headphones secured on his ears and dark sunglasses over his eyes. His finely made suit hid all of his tattoos except for the few protruding from his neck. The sound of women and men singing old opera rang through him as he thought life over, Larenzo better have the shipment or I'll kill him with my bare hands. The thoughts of business always floated through his mind even when he was so calm and collected. When someone ran into his knee it knocked off his headphones and as the sounds of unwavering opera drifted away the loud talking of people found their way into his ears. Without realizing it he could hear that the train had stopped, with a sigh he pulled his headphones into place around his neck and stood from his seat. With another sigh he took off his sunglasses and slipped them into his breast pocket. Looking around Victor could see everyone on the train looking out the windows into what seemed to be almost complete darkness. After repositioning his suit so that his tie stood in the middle and his sleeves were even he walked, his shiny black shoes clicking against the train's floor as he did so, over to the nearest people and asked,"What is going on," his thick accent thankfully didn't hinder his use of english.

@Proven Deadly

Character(s): Aoyama Jiro

“We have to get through the doors.”

Jiro glanced back at the man who had spoken and nodded in agreement. They had to get out of there somehow before whatever was at the window got in. He squirmed out of Kana’s grasp in order to be of some use. He looked to Mike.

“We need to get out of here,” he explained in the best English he could muster. “We are sitting ducks inside of this box.”

Character(s): Reid Taylor

Reid watched Claudia exit the diner, pretty sure she was out of her mind. Yet, he followed her quietly. He didn’t want to alert her to his presence because he was curious, as well, about this sickening man. But, he had a bad feeling in his gut, and he couldn’t just let her go out there alone.

“What are y’all doing, playing around like this? Y’all look grown enough to know not to try and pull something so downright disrespectful!”

He noticed her pause, and saw her muscles tighten with fear. He tried to keep his mind clear, for he knew that if he tried to analyze the situation, he would freeze up, as well. Instead, he focused on Claudia, never removing his gaze from her, and ever inching closer and closer.

“Wh…What the hell?”

He grabbed her, pulling her out of the way just as the man was about to do the same. With his mouth open, he snapped at empty air rather than onto Claudia.

Reid dragged her off to the side and around a nearby building, making sure to keep something between them and these…things. Once he had his back to the wall and Claudia safely in front of him did he decide to venture a little conversation.

“Are you all right?” he asked, surveying her to make sure the man hadn’t scratched her or injured her anywhere. “What were you thinking?”

Claudia Johnson

Fear carried itself to her muscles, locking her up. The shock of seeing something like this...she wasn't sure how to process it. Then she could feel hands on her, and her fight-or-flight instinct kicked right in. She nearly reared back, ready to take down whoever had grabbed her. But the horrible sound of teeth gnashing together after missing their mark brought her to her senses. Her eyes widened, unable to move her gaze from the flesh on her arm that was nearly torn off. She allowed herself to be taken to safety, but that was the end of her part as the damsel in distress.

"What do you take me for, some kind of yuppie who can't fend for themself? 'Course I'm alright..." She rubbed at her forearm, thankful that her limbs were intact.

"I guess I made a mistake. I thought he was some jackass trying to pull a tasteless prank...cemetery ain't far from here. Kids are always talkin' about zombies makin' their way over to Good Eats for a burger. I thought...well, you see what I thought, don't you? But it don't matter what I thought." Claudia's voice raised in energy, her tone more frantic. "Right now there ain't time for thinking. Them things, they ain't right. Listen stranger, the way I see it, it's us versus them. And we gotta get the hell out of here. Do you--" the sound of a metal trashcan falling to the ground made her jump. Another one of the things was coming from behind the building, and had found its new prey. Now they had two options. Fight or flight.

“What do you take me for, some kind of yuppie who can’t fend for themselves? ‘Course I’m alright…”

He had opened his mouth several times to say something, but she just kept going. He had hoped she would be grateful that he saved her from becoming a meal for one of those things. Instead, it was as if she was angry at him.

“I guess I made a mistake. I thought he was some kind of jackass trying to pull a tasteless prank…cemetery ain’t far from here. Kids are always talkin’ about zombies makin’ their way over to Good Eats for a burger. I thought…well, you see what I thought, don’t you? But it don’t matter what I thought.”

Reid knew exactly what she had thought because he was thinking it now, too. But it didn’t seem possible. The rational part of his brain tried throwing out scenarios, like perhaps these people were sick or maybe there was an accident elsewhere in town. But deep down, he knew the situation was much direr than that.

“Right now there ain’t time for thinking. Them things, they ain’t right. Listen stranger, the way I see it, it’s us versus them. And we gotta get the hell outta here. Do you-”

He heard it, as well. A trashcan was knocked over by one of those things. It had found them.

With the group on the other side of the building and then this one blocking the backway out, there was really only one logical thing to do: fight. Glancing quickly about them, Reid managed to identify a couple of objects that could be used to their advantage.

Reid grabbed up a discarded two by four and brandished it in front of him.
“We don’t want to hurt you,” he tried to reason, but the thing kept coming.

It lunged and he placed the board in between them. The thing was strong. It pushed back, trying desperately to get at him. Its jaw snapped, blood dripping down its chin. It seemed very intent upon taking a bite out of Reid.

So, it didn’t matter how much Reid tried to bargain with the thing, its sole purpose seemed to want to devour him.

Train

Mike turned to one of the men who had spoken; a very well dressed man for a train. He looked like he belonged on a private jet on its way to New York City.
"Beats me," He kicked the door with all his force, leaving a small dent but not enough to start anything. Another man spoke right after that.

“We need to get out of here. We are sitting ducks inside of this box.” His voice carried a thick accent and judging by his choppy language, his was new to English.

"Exactly. But we can't."

Alexis turned away from the group that was gathering around Mike as he kicked and punched at the door. She paced back and forth, burying her face in her hands and feeling guiltier than ever for not telling Mike that she was pregnant the second she found out. Now was not the time, but right at that moment she wanted to do it more than ever. If Mike wasn't in the middle of preventing genocide, she might have broken down and told him. Tears streamed from her eyes and she quickly wiped each one away, trying to force her vision astray from the people mushed against the glass window, smearing blood and smudgy fingerprints all over the exterior of the train. I don't want to die... I don't want to die... Why isn't anyone coming to save us? Where is everyone? Does anyone know what's happening? She had so many questions, most of which she knew nobody could answer. The thing on the window didn't seem strong enough to break the glass, nor did it seem to be showing the required amount of effort. After several minutes of pacing, she fell back onto one of the train seats. resting her head in her arms on the small table in front of her.

Character: Ashton

Location: Titrus-bound train

Ashton has leaned his head against the window of the train as the music of Sparklehorse, a rather indie and unknown band blared through his headphones and into his ears, he could not hear anything of what was actually going on but from what he could see the train had stopped and a woman who must be some sort of train atendant had just left their carriage after making some sore of speach that he didnt catch. He wasnt really worried at all, trains stopped all the time, He picked up his camera, taking a picture of the carriage, the people who seemed disgruntled and the ones that seemed not to care just about as much as himself.

Suddenly something smacked against the carriage window, the window vibrated violently, hurting Ashtons head, He moved his back slightly and suddenly he was face to face with a man, well what he thought was man, blood was pouring out of his mouth as his teeth viciously scraped at the window. Shocked, Ashton moved back but a little to far, making him fall of his train seat and onto the floor, music still blaring loudly in his ears.

Alexis, Mike

Train

Alexis saw the confused boy wearing headphones. He probably didn't hear anything during the initial chaos. As Mike wound up to hit the metal door again, Alexis lunged forward, knowing that if he didn't move Mike would hit him square in the face. She grabbed his shoulders and pulled him back, trying her best to position herself so if he fell she would catch him. "Be careful," She advised, knowing all too well the worst of Mike's capabilities. He wasn't the type to hit, but occasionally when he got home from the bar with his friends he would get angry at her for simple things. Sometimes it was for little things, such as not buying the right kind of beer from the grocery store. But it only happened when he was intoxicated, and he always apologized in the morning. It was fine; Alexis didn't think much of it. Mike wasn't abusive, though her bruises might show otherwise, he just had an addiction.

Character(s): Aoyama Jiro / Aoyama Rei

“If we work together, perhaps we can wedge the door open,” Jiro attempted to explain, speaking slowly and over-pronouncing each word.

Having had seen Mike kick at and punch at the door and it not budging, he immediately realized that it wasn’t going to be an easy task. But, even with the power out on the train, there was still a way off of it. If the company hadn’t provided an ulterior escape route, that would have been suicide for their business.

As Jiro attempted to help Mike open the door, Rei had remained behind with the rest of her family. She watched the blonde woman who had been by Mike’s side help a boy, looking to be about her age, out of the way of the men at work.

Rei turned away from the scene, wriggling her way out of Yuta’s grasp. She looked down the aisle toward the back of the train and everybody’s scared faces. She knew what was going through everyone’s head. Could this be some kind of outbreak? Or, maybe just some escaped mental patients? They could very well be overreacting, but the blood looked very much real.

It was while she was considering this that she first heard the small, but distinct sound. Her breath caught in her throat. She glanced at the others to see if they heard it, as well. And then it came again: the sound of glass cracking.

Rei looked to the window where the crazed thing outside was trying desperately to get in and saw the spider web effect traveling all over the train window. This time, she was the one to grab Yuta tightly on the wrist as she tried to back away slowly from that side.

“Yuta,” she whispered. “The window.”

He looked at his younger sister then followed her gaze. Immediately, he shoved his mother and his sister behind him, as if ready to protect their very lives. “
Daijoobu,” he repeated, but the words were empty now.

Rei breathed deeply, her eyes still locked on the steadily cracking window. A bit louder, so that she might be overheard by others and warned, she repeated,
“The window.”

Ashton felt someone pull him up from behind, he quickly stood, taking out his headphones. Suddenly he could now hear the sound of the train carriage, the worried passengers, some were crying and a small crowd had formed at the door opposite to the crazed zombie like things that were pressed against the train, trying to beat open the door. He turned to see the blonde haired woman who had helped him up "Eh, thanks" he mumbled quietly, looking at the dozen of zombie's knawing and violently pressing their faces into the glass as if it wasnt even there. He lifted his camera, trying to keep his hands steady and snapped a picture of the zombies, afterall like his Photography teacher said "Always take the picture". Suddenly a sounds caught his ear, a sound that made his stomach drop, the cracking of glass. The amount of Zombies pressed against the glass windows was starting to become to much for the windows to handle. A spider web effect happened as Ashton watched the crack spread down the carriage. There was a collective yell of fear from the people in the carriage as some jumped up frantically and others remained frozen in their seats. Ashton stepped back, the crowd at the door was not making enough progress on breaking it open and he had a feeling that if the Zombies got through, they would all surely die. "We need something to break one of these windows" He mumbled half to himself as he glanced at the woman who had helped him up.

Train

"Oh my God," Alexis muttered under her breath, her neck getting hot from fear. She backed away, wrapping her arms around her stomach. "Mike!" She screamed, probably loud enough for the entire train to hear. "Mike, the window!" She turned to the boy. "I know,"

Mike spun around at the sound of his fiancee's voice, his eyes first laying on her to ensure she was okay and then following to the second priority: the window. Cracks crept across the window, making a sound similar to the sound of cracking bones.
"Everyone get over there!" He shouted, gesturing to the far end of the train car furthest away from the window. "What do you want?" He took a step closer to to the window, staring the person on the glass right in the face. "This isn't funny. If you try anything, I'll--" He was interrupted by the sound of the glass shattering completely. Shards of the sharp, clear material flew around the room, raining down onto the linoleum floor. Some people screamed, including Alexis, and Mike immediately began searching frantically around the room for something to fight it with. There was nothing but his bare hands.

As the thing crawled in through the window, Mike got a better look at what it was. It couldn't have been human--it looked human, except for the gaping hole in its flesh on its left shoulder. It was missing several fingers and blood oozed from its mouth, its clothes torn and stained.
"What the fuck..." He whispered, not loud enough for anyone to hear him. "What the hell do you want?" He screamed again, this time being more assertive and demanding than the last time. It didn't respond. Mike came to the conclusion that the only way to get out was to break a window, but there was nothing he could use to do that.

Without a second thought, he spun around to face the other window. He could hear the creature approaching him from behind and he became aware of his limited time. A second thought of regret struck him as his fist collided with the window, the glass shattering and cutting him all up his arm. It stung like hell.
"Agh!" He grunted in pain, but began ushering people out. "Get out... Now!"

"Mike!" Alexis cried, pushing her way through the crowd to aid her husband. "Mike, are you okay?"

The creature lunged at them, snapping its jaw like a piranha. Alexis grabbed his good hand and pulled him out the window, blood dripping off of his arm and staining her white t-shirt.

Lucy

Titrus Public Library

Lucy pushed open the old, dusty glass door of the Titrus Public Library. She was met by a wave of humid air rushing against her, an uncomfortably large contrast to the air conditioned insides of the library. A short line of cars waited across the street outside the airport, friends and family members waiting impatiently for the arrivals of their loved ones. From what she had seen, Titrus wasn't the most popular vacation site, but it was a very popular layaway spot so tourists often walked around the very few streets between flights. Lucy missed her home back in Toledo where things
actually happened. The summer sun hung high in the sky, beating down on her pale face and causing her to squint against the harsh light. Her backpack full of classic novels was heavy on her back, tiring her quickly, along with the extreme heat. Across the street was a bench next to a water fountain, and she made her way over to it. A faint outline of a person walking down the street could be seen and Lucy offered a friendly wave. The person only continued walking toward her without waving back at all. "People here are so rude sometimes," She muttered under her breath, recollecting the few instances from the past where her advances of friendship were neglected and put off. She was just trying to be nice.

When she reached the bench, she tossed her backpack down and sank into the uncomfortable metal seat. She sat there for what felt like ages but was probably more like minutes before she heard the sound of shuffling feet on the pavement over the sound of the occasional car or bike whizzing past.
Probably that person I saw before. She thought, not even bothering to move a muscle or look up from her book until she heard a low groan. The sight of what stood in front of her almost made her jump back. It looked like a zombie, almost. Wow, nice makeup, She thought it, but didn't say it. She only nodded to the man, who she assumed was doing some kind of cosplay or prank. Although she wanted to ask about his getup, she refrained and only turned back to her book.

Cold hands gripped around her arms and knocked her backwards, tipping the bench over and leaving her body to slam back against the hard sidewalk. She shrieked and tried to kick at her attacker, but he only snapped at her, almost like he was trying to bite her.
"Get off of me, you creep!" She screamed as loud as she could, trying with all her might to fight him off, but to no avail. "Someone help me!" Her voice echoed down the vacant streets, and she lay defenseless under the strange man, the only thing she had left to do was pray.

{ If someone wants to come save her that's just my post for anyone who has open characters }

After looking himself over for several minutes Victor looked to his left toward some of the windows seeing that everyone had backed away he now saw what was so intriguing. Men and women lined the train car's windows pawing and punching it with bloodied hands. "What the fuck," Victor muttered as he reached into the hidden compartment in his suit's coat and pulled his Tokarev out of it. With a instinctual hand he gripped the other side of his coat and pulled his first of five clips which had ten bullets each, seeing they had extended clips. Slipping the clip into his Tokarev into he cocked it with a definite click. Turning to his right he heard breaking of glass and one of the blood covering people attempted to lunge through the window. Walking past the people he just spoke to he pointed the barrel to the person's head, who had attempted to lunge in and waited for it to see him. As the person's eyes drifted up he saw its eyes meet his barrel, he had expected the person to rear back and say it was a prank but once again it attempted to lunge through the broken window. With a confused face Victor paused staring at the blood soaked person ,but with a sense of survival flooding over him his face turned from confusion to a blank, polite face. With a loud bang the person stopped moving and fell limp on the window. With out turning around,"There is something very wrong with these people, do what you have to, they have no fear," Victor said aloud.

Claudia Johnson

"We don't want to hurt you," the man, now beside her, was saying. I do, she thought. She was about tired of seeing these things. They were ugly. Abominations of life. It was becoming more and more obvious to her. However much she didn't want to believe something from a movie had come to be real, this was life or death.

She was ready to give this thing the what-for, plenty tired of the situation. She wasn't afraid of these things, now that the initial shock was passed.
If they are walking corpses, then their flesh is all rotted. Shouldn't be too hard to tear 'em up. Whatever's keepin' em walkin, though...

She'd gotten out of the way when the thing started attacking. She found herself near the trashcan, her hands already grabbing the lid before she thought about what to do with it. Adrenaline was pumping through her veins, the human instinct to fight heating her muscles. Now it was her turn to help out. She charged the attacker, using that momentum to put all her force behind her blow. She bashed the thing in its side with the trashcan lid, like it was a shield. That was enough to send it stumbling toward the wall
and away from the man.

She may have let go of her rage from earlier, but the fire it left behind was still going. She dropped the lid and took the creature by the hair, smashing its head against the wall of the building. She had to do it three more times before it seemed to be dead.

There was blood on her hand. She looked at it disgustedly and wiped it on her apron, stepping back from the corpse. She turned her attention to the man. She was about to tell him they should just run. That they shouldn't think about where. They'd have to see what place is safe first. There's no telling what place has been hit and what hasn't, and assuming anything would be stupid at this point, considering they have very little knowledge of the situation. But she remembered that he had just been engaged by that thing...he couldn't run if he had an injury to tend to first. She hadn't seen anything, but even a scrape should be cleaned or else get infected. Especially if you're getting scratched by these nasty things.

"You didn't get hurt, did you?" she asked. She realized that she was asking a stranger. She'd left Miss Mary behind, when she owed the old woman her life. And she knew she wouldn't go back to see. Right now she only cared about herself. And she was teaming up with a stranger. "What's your name, anyway?"

Cat looked around, the cool shade of the tree she was in helped with the humid air and the rough sun. She sat on the limb for a while, she took a breath from the hard day of running from.... What ever those things where.... Zombies, or people playing around.... She sighed a little and about jumped out of her skin when she heard someone scream. "Shit..." She mumbled as she jumped down from the tree and started to run again but this time down the side walk. She knew what was happening and she knew she had to help.

"Just hold on!" She called, she knew that was stupid. She heard moaning from an ally way and saw... Those things. She keeper running, knowing she could out run them and pretty much anyone. She soon saw a girl struggling, trying to keep 'it' off of her. She was just in time to, any longer the ones down the street would of got there if she was farther away.

She kicked the thing in the face that was over the girl, she grabbed the girls arm and yanked her up. "Get going, there's a seven eleven 3 minutes that way, Run there and don't look back, I'll be right behind you. Now go." She said and pushed her in the direction. She made sure the girl was running and grabbed her bow from her back and loaded an arrow, she aimed it at the things shoulder and luckily there was a tree right behind it and it stuck it there.

Lucy

7-11

"Who was that?" Lucy panted as she reached the 7/11, immediately remembering her backpack. "Who in God's name was that?" She brushed her light brown hair out of her eyes that had fallen from her high ponytail during her run. "What did you do?

Character(s): Aoyama Jiro / Aoyama Rei

With the window broken open and that thing coming after them, Jiro grabbed his family, helping them out of the train car before sliding out himself. They moved away from the train car, pushing backward in a small huddle. He watched in horror as the thing went so far as to try to follow them out the same window, desperately clawing for them.

Jiro pushed his family back behind him even more, believing it safer for them to have their backs to some empty space than near that ravenous thing. Then the gun went off. Though it wasn’t close to his head, his ears rang. It wasn’t often that he heard such a sound.

The person stopped moving, hanging limply out of the window. Whatever it was, it could definitely be stopped by a bullet to the head.

His ears were still ringing when he heard Rei shriek behind him. He whirled around quickly, his heart thumping against his chest in fear for his family.

Another one of those things had grabbed Rei’s arm, trying to sink its teeth into her, but yet to do so. Seeing his sister in danger, Yuta barreled into the creature, freeing his sister and knocking her to the ground. He managed to look back before the savage bit down on his neck.

“Yuta!” Rei screamed, reaching out uselessly toward her older brother.

But just as that was happening, Kana screamed from close by, as well. It appeared that one had grabbed her from behind and was feasting upon her.

Jiro stared wide eyed, unable to do anything, frozen in horror.

Rei, in disbelief, shook her head against the reality that half of her family was gone in just a few seconds time. From where she had fallen on the ground, she cried,
“YUTA! OKAASAN!”

Character(s): Reid Taylor

Reid watched Claudia take care of the problem, the wooden plank hanging uselessly at his side. Slamming its head against the ground and spilling its brains everywhere seemed to do the trick. He watched her finish her work rather impressed.

“You didn’t get hurt, did you? What’s your name, anyway?”

He smirked, realizing the irony of the change of positions.
“Reid, Reid Taylor,” he introduced. “And you’re Claudia.” He pointed toward her name tag.

He looked down at her handy work, not ready to make the mistake of believing these creatures to be anything but vicious beasts. There was no reasoning with them. There was no mistaking them for human beings anymore. They had become something else, something carnal.

“I’m fine,” Reid informed. “I can’t say as much for this guy, though. Thanks for that.” He glanced about them, concerned that more could be on their way. “Perhaps we should get out of here, though. That whole group of these things is still on its way.”

Cat stood there for a second, not knowing if she should kill it or not. She reached into her jean pocket and grabbed her pocket knife, she walked over to the thing and stabbed it in the head. She could feel the knife go through the skull and then hit the soft insides. She pulled it back out and whipped it on the... Walker? That's what she's gonna call em walkers. It fit them better than zombies or things. She folded her knife back up and put it in her pocket. She turned around and saw a back pack on the bench and thought it might be that one girls.

After grabbing the bag she headed over to the seven eleven, as she walked down the side walk she looked down and saw a small doll covered in blood and a little bit away in the grass was a... Walker, the girl underneath, eating her! She put her hand to her mouth and ran. In seconds she was at the seven eleven, horror in her eyes at what she saw. When she got there that girl asked what she did. "I... I..." She stuttered, now her shy side was kicking in, she didn't know how she talked to her back there but now she couldn't. "We'll... I...I..... Tied.... Em to a tree..." She said in a southern actcent. She didn't want to tell her the truth. "Oh... H-Here..." She stuttered and handed her her bag.

After handing the girl her bag she looked at the 7'11 and thought if there was more in this town then who's to saw there all over. "Come on, lets get some food.... And supplies." She said not stuttering as much. She knew if something happened than they would need food, everything they could get in there bags.

(Hope it's good! My boss let me leave work early! Woohoo mainly because his wife went to the hospital to have her baby.... But any way hope its good!)

Claudia nodded, letting the trashcan lid fall to the ground. She probably wouldn't have the energy to do that again. And besides, it would be harder to run with it. "Let's head up mainstreet. The police department seems like the best place to set up a defense, if there is one," She said, "Come on."

She broke into a light run, thankful for her having started working out three months ago. She wouldn't be exhausted after running a couple miles, at least. Her companion seemed to be in better shape, though. She wondered how long they would be stuck together. Hopefully they could find others, and she wouldn't be so much of a liability.

How serious was this situation, anyway? Exactly how many of these things were there? She looked behind her, at the now-growing crowd. Thank God they were slow. But where did they all come from? Not the cemetery. She noticed that while some looked like days or weeks-old corpses, others looked like recently killed people. The thought made her stomach turn.

She stopped thinking, focusing on breathing and keeping a steady pace. Her eyes rested on the road ahead.
