TSome information before you get started on your character application...
Our unfortunate search party will be made up of a friendship group (and a younger sibling) to the Harrington twins. Characters will be aged from 21-24 years old considering they either met Nathaniel and/or Violet during their school or college years. For reference, the twins are twenty-two years old and reside in Manhattan, New York City, both having grown up there and now attending college there. Your character doesn't have to reside in Manhattan, but at the very least is nearby considering the group have always been 'close-knit' in proximity.
The pre-made roles (including THE UNDECIDED roles) are to have pre-existing relationships with all members of the friendship group. When creating characters โ for clarity sakes โ please use role names when referencing characters that are not the Harrington twins considering the roles have not been assigned (e.g., Bianca had always been close to THE LOVER). No relationships/dynamics have to be set in stone, or elaborated on when creating characters (unless specified by the role description) but that will/may change when plotting occurs in the Discord.
While the pre-made roles to have some dynamic/relationship requirements with others, you are free to go crazy with everything else. For example, THE SHADOW does not need to be a biological sibling, or might only be related to one of the twins' parents.

โ CHARACTER APPLICATIONS
I have no set character sheet skeleton and you can include as much or as little information as you like. This can be done in the traditional format or more of a prose that gives us a detailed snapshot of who your character is (or a mix of both!). All I require is mention of the information below in whatever format you choose!
THE BASICS.
- Name and nickname/s, age (21-24), gender, sexuality (remember to have some fluidity for roles that have pre-existing romantic or sexual relationships), occupation and/or study
- An overview of appearance (can include hair, skin, eyes, body, distinguishing features)
- Personal belongings with them (what personal belongings did your character bring on the road trip to Windermere? No need to list a bunch of supplies and camping gear as our characters will get this in Windermere.)
- Face claim (this is not necessarily needed as long as you can detail the appearance enough to help us envision your character! Will only accept real life face claims.)
- An overview of personality (short or lengthy up to you but enough to display that your character is fleshed out and complex!)
- Fears (what keeps your character awake at night?)
- Strengths and weaknesses (what do they excel at? what do they really struggle with?)
- Ailments (e.g., old injuries, mental illnesses)
- History (detail your character's life, can be short or lengthy but enough to paint the picture of how they fit into the group)
- Motivations for following Nathaniel to Windermere (not everyone's motivation to find Violet might be pureโmaybe to be labelled a local hero, getting the admiration from Violet or one of the others.)

A free-spirited, positive force that could only be described as adventurous and nauseatingly unpredictable since her remission and new lease on life. Everyone in the group is connected to her in some form and was known as the glue that held this group together. It begs the question how they will manage without her and if the fractures crack further. Taken by Violet Harrington.
THE PROTECTOR
CLOSED
Fiercely protective of his friends, but especially his twin, almost possessively so. Considered the golden child, even above THE VANISHED and THE SHADOW, considering his football scholarship to NYU and his affinity to his parents. Previously childhood best friends with THE UNREQUITED until they found out about their feelings for his twin sister. Taken by Nathaniel Harrington.
THE SHADOW
OPEN
Despite being a year younger than THE PROTECTOR and THE VANISHED, theyโve always felt overshadowed by the two and have a somewhat complicated relationship with both. Previously briefly dated THE LOVER until they were whisked away from them for THE VANISHED.

Has been dating THE VANISHED for the last year and a half. Well that was until they broke up before her trip to Maine, in which they still haven't told anyone and for all appearances are still together. It might have something to do with how close theyโve been to THE FAITHFUL.

Theyโve always admired THE VANISHED from afar which theyโve always been able to keep under wraps from their best friend THE PROTECTOR. That was until they were confronted and warned firmly to leave her alone which has soured their friendship. Secretly witnessed THE LOVER and THE FAITHFUL hook up and informed THE VANISHED before her trip to Maine.

Lifelong friends with THE VANISHED, the two have been inseparable ever since but there friendship has somewhat lulled since THE VANISHED travelled to Maine. Maybe it was because of her need for adventure above her friendships or perhaps it had something to do with a certain hook up with THE LOVER.

A newer fixture of the group that met THE VANISHED a year ago when they were assigned roommates in college. Most in the group are apprehensive of them considering their โfreshnessโ to the group but little do they know how much THE VANISHED has confided in them and knows all their secrets.

A potential member of the group with their own relationships and secrets to the others. Note: to apply for this role, please DM or post in the temp OOC your ideas before getting started to ensure it fits within the story and gels with the other pre-made roles.

rule one.
First and foremost, this is a semi-advanced literate roleplay which will not suffice with one or two sentence replies. I'm not expecting novel-length replies or perfection though, so errors and such are fine (I make them constantly). Also, considering the themes (namely gore and horror) I, unfortunately, ask for all applicants to be over the age of 18 to avoid both myself and others feeling uncomfortable or limited to what can be shared and discussed.
Even if you are over the age of 18, do note that the characters will be subjected to horrific situations that will require players to delve into the human psyche when experiencing high-pressure situations.

I hope to have players replying to the thread at least once or twice a week to keep the story flowing and interest piqued. I will also be using discord for plotting and ooc discussions which I hope all players are active in to allow ourselves to become comfortable and friendly with each other!
I will not tolerate any bullying and disrespect in any form on the discord server or else you will be removed as I will not facilitate an unsafe space. Save the fighting between the characters!
rule three.
This is not first-come, first-served! This means roles cannot be reserved and multiple people can apply for the same role. It will be based on an application basis (not to discredit writers but to find a diverse and quality cast which I think will fit into the world and story).
While there is an option to make your own role, I will take preference over the pre-made ones and only accept 1-3 of THE UNDECIDED roles. I want these characters to be just as flawed as the others so please get creative!
If you are wondering why the roles are designed to add โdramaโ between the other characters, this is to create a rocky foundation that when adding in the madness that unfolds, along with dehydration, sleep deprivation and starvationโour characters will be forced to test their relationships or be pitted against one another.
You will notice that none of the roles are gender-specific and there are no restrictions in that regard! This does mean I ask that you please try keep your character flexible sexuality wise considering some of the roles do require romantic/sexual connections.
rule four.
Iโm hoping to have some more gamey elements in this roleplay. Not exactly โchoose your own adventureโ but allow players to be given opportunities to engage in choices that could prove both useful or deadly. Still workshopping this exactly and open to ideas when the final cast is chosen!
