Emily was born to Charles and Christine Thomas when her parents were on 20 years old.

Emily never knew her dad as he left when her mother fell pregnant. Growing up she never cared that it was only her and her mother but for some reason other children found this as a reason to bully her.

Her mother eventually remarried when Emily was 7 to an amazing man named Dean. As far as Emily is concerned Dean is her father and Charles is her "sperm donor".

Emily's brother died in a car crash when she was 11, he was only 15. This deeply effected Emily and she was diagnosed with depression due to trauma. Emily still struggles with her depression at times but she mostly is able to manage now.

It is due to her experiences that Emily looks after other people the way she does. She knows what it is like to be in the pits of hell and hates the idea of anyone else having to suffer that.

The patient (6 y/o, m) arrived with severe burns from a hotel fire. The patient was found under a timber beam that had fallen upon his left leg, trapping him in the event. Was treated for smoke inhalation and acute respiratory distress in the ambulance, presenting at the ER with a normal breathing pattern and 97% oxygen levels. First degree burns upon his torso, with a light scarring present after treatment. The left thigh has presented second degree burns with heavy scarring after treatment. 2cms from knee joint/patella was identified as a third-degree burn. Sensory nerve endings have been destroyed from the burn and the patient did not feel any pain. However, after treatment began, the burns became severely infected. It was in the best interest of the patient for amputation from the patella down. We believe with extensive physical therapy and the use of a prosthetic leg, the patient will be able to resume life normally without any further side effects.

In addition to physical therapy, we insist he goes through a psychologist and psychiatrist to battle any post-traumatic stress that may have occurred from this event. With funding from the Hope Foundation, he will be covered for these medical practices for a year.

In a single heartbeat, his whole world came crumbling before him.

The humid night air which was once filled with laughter and celebration was now thickened by the screams of terror. It had been a beautiful wedding; the groom and bride were in preparation for their first dance as husband and wife. People stood around with contagious happiness looming upon the atmosphere. Just as the melody reached their ears, and their feet began to move in tempo with the song, a loud ringing echoed above their heads. The moment the voice on the speaker announced the evacuation, people began to scramble. There was no peaceful, orderly walking. The older and rich demanded to be saved first, pushing overs out of their way.

It was how Nam-Gil became separated from his family. The six-year old’s had been playing with the young children at the ‘kids table’ when the mass hysteria washed over the room. The alarms rang, deafening his ears and creating a sensory overload. What is going on? He could remember the screams and wails of the families as they all rushed over to grab their children from the table; scooping them up in their arms and hurrying out. But where were his parents? Where was his sister?

Nam-Gil stood still, hoping that reducing his movement would allow his parents to spot him somehow. When there was still no sign, he opted to stand upon a chair to get a bit more height. Still, no sign of any of them amongst the mass of people flooding out. The tightness of his chest grew as he attempted to scream out their names, ignoring the tears starting to form in his eyes. No matter how much he screamed, his voice was no match to the alarm that continued to call everyone out of the hotel.

There was only one thing he could do; he had to be the one to look for them. If they weren’t coming for him, then he’d make sure to be there for him. He pushed against the current of the swarming wedding guests, getting deeper into the midst of the chaos. Smoke began to rise from the cracks of the kitchen doors. The fire began to envelop the wooden structure, crackling with delight as it inhaled its feast. Nam-Gil stood in awe, feeling the warmth of the fire radiate against his skin. The flames hypnotised him, and he was left standing in a complete and utter trance. There was something about fire that had always intrigued him and filled him with so much joy. To see it grow in all its glory was truly magical to him.

It’s an ongoing cycle. Fire brings on destruction, chaos, and heart ache. But it also brings new life; a new season, a new cycle of life has begun. Wildflowers and flora rise from the ashes and declare their mighty beauty. Nam-Gil had to keep reminding himself of this situation. There was beauty from ashes, and he was yet to discover what it was. He had to be patient. He would have to wait for his turn to make his discovery. But there was one thing for certain; the fire brought along a new life for him.

A faint memory enlisted its core position in his brain; lying in an ambulance, feeling his skin boil and blister, and watching the fiery inferno of the hotel through the ambulance window. It’s structure no longer firm or standing majestically but crumbling before the intense heat of the flames. This core memory replayed in his head every day he laid in his hospital bed. Doctors would come and poke and prod. They’d question him on how he was feeling, and about his life. But his answer was always the same; it felt numb. Was it the fact he had third degrees burns to his body that brought on an overwhelming sense of numbness? Or was it because his family went down with the flames that faithful night?

Days melted into weeks, which hardened into months. It was finally decided for the best interest of his health for his left leg to be amputated, thanks to those third-degree burns. Everything remained numb even after the surgery. It took well over a year to process things through; to learn how to walk again with a prosthetic leg, how to cope with the loss of his parents and sister, and how to generally just keep on going on with life. The orphanage in which he was in didn’t seem to mind that he was spiralling into his own black hole. Every morning there was a struggle to push himself out of bed (physically and mentally), and every night he feared for his core memories to run rancid through his dreams.

At the age of eight, he began to learn that the only person in life he needed to look out for was himself. When the older children began to hide his prosthetic leg before he woke up in the mornings, or when they used to call him a pirate because of his slight wobble, he knew that there wasn’t going to be anyone there to defend him. That’s when he learnt how to use his hands and feet to defend himself. He learnt what it was like to truly take control of his own misery and to make it to the top. The quiet, one-legged weird kid who spent all his time by himself was quickly becoming the enigma of the orphanage, filled with rage and revenge. New children introduced to the system were often told to stay out of his way and rumours of his victims began to spread like, well… fire.

He knew that he had to look after one person: himself. Because no one else was going to do it for him. I mean, even his parents or sibling never attempted to look out for him during the fire. If they weren't going to, then who in their right mind would?

Had it not been for his age, Nam-Gil would’ve been flooded with criminal charges. By the age of thirteen, he had been summoned to the local police station on charges of harassment, street fighting, graffiti and even stealing and setting some school bags on fire near the bus station. There had been talk of sending him to juvenile protection institutions or training schools. However, he managed to scrape by without any charges or being sent away. Thanks to the money and elite status of his Uncle.

Yes, his Uncle. The one who stood before him when he was six years old, twirling his new bride on the dance floor – right before the alarms began to echo throughout the hall. The sight of the man before him was enough to shake him to the core, reigniting something deep inside that he had not felt in so long. He had been thankful that he was being released in his Uncle’s custody, confused to how his Uncle had finally found him, and beyond enraged that it took him so long. But over some sundae, Nam-Gil discovered that his Uncle had been trying to find him for a long time. He had detectives working for him around the clock for the last six years (which Nam-Gil had to comment that obviously, they were not very good detectives if it took them this long), and they finally found him. And that he had a home if he wanted it.

It meant moving to America, leaving the country he had known and grown up in his whole life. It meant starting a new life all over again. Something about it didn’t feel right. But when his Uncle mentioned that he was the Principle of the school he would attend, how could he say no? You would have to be stupid to not see the extensive privileges of being related to the Principle. He could almost get away with murder if he wanted to. So, he moved in with his Uncle, Aunt and his two younger cousins. And even though he was now in his Father's brother's house with his extended family, and the house was full of laughter and warmth, he still felt cold inside. The fire in his belly wasn't burning, and he felt exactly how he felt at the orphanage - completely and utterly alone.

As he entered his Uncle’s school, Nam-Gil went into auto-pilot. His basic instinct was to survive. To eat or be eaten. Make it to the top of the food chain. Anyone who merely looked at him in such a judgemental way received an invitation to meet his knuckles during breaks. If not found in the hallways terrorising the weak, around the gymnasium sneaking in a smoke or two, or sitting in the back of the classroom fidgeting with his lighter, you could find him on top of the rooftop, gazing down at the world before him.
Nam-Gil loves to explore with his hands and his eyes, touching and examining the world around them with curiosity. He finds no greater joy than in getting his hands dirty, pulling things apart and putting them back together. It’s a pity that he feels compelled to do it to the people around him rather than actual objects. He enjoys exploring ideas through creating, troubleshooting, trial and error and first hand-experiences.

He can come across as quite enigmatic; very private, resting one moment before becoming suddenly spontaneous, unable to stay focused on formal studies thanks to his extreme curiosity, and is also incredibly challenging to predict. Without warning, he can tend up to build a store of impulsive energy which can explode at any moment without warning.

One of Nam-Gil’s biggest issues is that he is likely to act too soon, taking his permissive nature for granted and assuming that others are just the same. He’s the first to tell an insensitive joke, to roughhouse, or suddenly change his plans because something more interesting has come up for him. He tends to struggle with guidelines and boundaries, fighting for the freedom to move about and colour outside the lines if he wants and needs to.

When in a good mood, Nam-Gil is cheerful, energetic, and optimistic, rarely getting stressed out and will tend to go with the flow. He’s creative and practical with a handy imagination for practical things, mechanics and crafts. Even though he is highly spontaneous, it allows him to be flexible and versatile in new situations. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty, and in combination with his hands-on creativity and spontaneity, it makes him a natural in crisis situations.

However, despite all of his strengths, Nam-Gil’s flaws tend to outshine them all. He’s incredibly stubborn; when someone tries to change his habits, lifestyle, or ideas through criticism, he tends to have a very blunt reaction and becomes irritated. He tends to use as much logic as possible, which can come across as insensitive as he struggles to meet with empathy or emotional sensitivity to situations. Nam-Gil is private and reserved, keeping all personal matters to himself and would much rather silence than some awkward small talk. For this reason, he has been known to be notoriously difficult to talk to, get to know or open up. He is easily bored and dislikes any commitment; preferring to take things day-by-day and once something has been solved or completed, it’s time to move on to the next thing. Finally, thanks to his stubbornness, difficulty with others’ emotions, focusing on the moment, and easy boredom, it can often lead to unnecessary and unhelpful boundary-pushing – just for fun. Nam-Gim’s risky behaviour has landed him in detention more times than he could count. He has been known to escalate conflict and danger just to see where it goes, which is something that can have disastrous consequences for everyone around if he loses control of the situation.

Imagine if Regina George, Kathryn Merteuil and Heather Chandler had a child, well that child would be Lilith. Named perfectly it was almost as though her parents knew what she would become.

Lilith first and foremost is a bitch. She is cruel, insensitive, and believes herself to be the only one or thing of importance. She does what she wants, when she wants and doesn't care for the consequences. She would step on you without so much of a second thought if you were in her way.

Lilith is strong willed and brave, she doesnt scare easily and will fight tooth and nail for what she wants. She is spontaneous and stubborn and likes to leave people guessing at what she will do next. Lilith is very sarcastic and is known for her one line insults around the school.

Lilith was born to Peter and Laura Blossom. To the outside world it appeared that the Blossoms had a perfect life. Her parents were wealthy business owners and appeared to be deeply in love. The perfect family with more money than they ever needed. But that was all a facade and behind closed doors the house was filled with constant screams and shouts as the pair argued from morning to night, with little regard for Lilith and what she may over hear.

later life

Lilith's mother died when Lilith was 8 years old, murdered by Peter after it came to light that she was having an affair with his Partner in the company. Peter was already a cold and uncaring man prior to this but something snapped in him after the discovery. The official record says that Laura died from a heart attack, however, Lilith knew better, having watched Peter pour the poison into her wine prior to dinner. Peter began to drink heavily after this and with no wife to longer fight with he became verbally and physically abusive to Lilith, this went on for 3 years before his untimely death when Lilith was 11 years old. The shocking house fire completely destroyed the Blossom's family home, crumbled to ashes as Peter slept. It was lucky that Lilith had woken and been in the kitchen getting a glass of milk when the fire broke out, very lucky indeed. The cause of the fire was never determined, put down to faulty wiring, how very lucky for Lilith that all the evidence was destroyed with the house.

After her father died, Lilith moved in with her Aunt Sarah. The pair have a good relationship for the most part as Lilith is mostly left to her own devices. Being young herself Sarah never took over a motherly role and instead decided to carry on with her life as normal as though she didn't just adopt her niece. Lilith likes it better this way, having no-one depending on her and no-one to depend on.

Tony's personality is most accurately described as anxious, hyperactive, and curious. He is a notorious bookworm. Because of this anxiety, Tony can often become so overwhelmed by trauma that he both physically and verbally lashes out at those around him, whether they are friend or foe. Despite Tony's anxiety and his increasingly violent reactions to bad news, Tony is a very loyal person who would do anything to protect his loved ones, even if it means giving up his life to do so. Tony is slow to trust people, but once he warms up to them and the person gains his trust, he becomes very close to them and will do whatever he has to do in order to protect them and ensure their safety.

Tony was born to Nick and Tai Bonaccorsi. As a young child, Tony's mother Tai was stricken with frontotemporal dementia. During the time she endured this illness, Tai suffered such horrifying delusions that she was under the impression that Tony was trying to kill her despite the fact that he was really just an anxious child worried about his mother. Tai even violently attacked Tony on at least one occasion as a result of her dementia, which caused her to develop a very strong case of paranoia and dissociation.

Tai ultimately died while being treated in the hospital, on an afternoon when the young Tony was visiting with her; he unfortunately had to endure the traumatic experience alone due to his father, the town sheriff, being caught up dealing with a car accident case, as Nick ultimately decided to stay late to comfort a woman who was dying as a result of the crash. At Tai's funeral, Tony's father, Nick, saw how badly Tony was mourning his mother's death and assured him that he still had him, and their mutual loss caused Tony to become incredibly close to Nick to help each other get through Tai's death together. Afterward, Tony began to experience anxiety attacks and bouts of sleepwalking, though he eventually grew out of it for a time. He also seemed to be aware of his father's affinity for whiskey, which occasionally went too far, to the point where Nick was asked by his fellow employees to cut down on his drinking.

When he was old enough to start driving, his father gave him his Jeep, which had belonged to his mother, and which she had wanted him to have once he was old enough to drive it. The first time he took it out for a drive, he went into a ditch, and his father handed him his first roll of duct tape in order to fix it, a method of DIY-repairs that Tony maintains to this day.

She doesn't hold any grudges toward those who have wronged her, and despite losing her father at a very young age and her mother in her teens, she always has a smile on her face, remaining sweet, hardworking, independent, and positive. Willie is also incredibly patient, emotionally intelligent and insightful when it comes to people's feelings, and shows glimpses of wisdom from time to time. She is a very nurturing girl with unconditional love and immense empathy who is willing to help others work through their traumas and emotional problems without expecting anything in return. Willie is also incredibly fragile, has a deep-rooted fear of being abandoned, and constantly lives in fear of her loved ones disappearing and leaving her alone. After her father Al's death, Willie became terrified that he was taking Nan away and that she didn’t love her because “she didn't resemble her father”, especially since her relatives on her father’s side of the family had commented on how Willie might be the daughter of another man. Because of this, Willie started to mimic Al's overly-polite speech to keep her mother all to herself. And after Nan passed away, Willie is overcome with fear that all their moments together and her very existence will fade away, so she promises herself to always put her mother first in her heart, never talks about her in the past tense, and develops an over-attachment to photos of her. This shows that Willie's inability to move on from Nan's death is weighing her down and keeping her from moving on in several aspects of her life.

Willie was born as an only child to Nan and Al Hyde. They lived a very happy and loving life and would go out as a family all the time. Occasionally, they would visit Willie's grandfather, who was the only one who didn't oppose Al and Nan's marriage. However, when Willie was three years old, Al died of pneumonia while he was away on a business trip. During his funeral, Al's relatives accused Willie of being the child of an affair because they thought she didn’t resemble him. And because of Nan's controversial past as a delinquent, she was berated and blamed for Al's death. Willie, who overheard all of this, thus had a harder time to remember her father fondly.

Soon after, Nan fell into a deep depression, to such an extent that she neglected Willie; she didn’t check up on her, didn’t care for her, and didn’t talk to her. Nan was convinced that Al was waiting for her in the sea, so she went there with the thought of committing suicide in order to be reunited with her beloved. After Nan abandoned her, Willie's grandfather was the only one who checked up on Willie. Willie, heartbroken by her mother’s neglect and abandonment, convinced herself that the only way to make Nan come back and stay with her was to become like her father. So while Nan was gone, Willie tried to remember as much as she could of Al; including his tendency to speak politely.

Nan eventually snapped out her near-suicidal state when she saw a little girl interact with her mother when she was about to kill herself, that had reminded her of Willie and herself. After she realized that her daughter still needed her, she rushed home and as she arrived there, Willie welcomed her home with a smile, the same way Al used to welcome Nan home. Nan broke down in tears and pulled Willie into a hug, apologizing to her over and over. Willie broke down in tears as well and hugged Nan tight.

Following this event, Nan lived with the thought of raising Willie well and never abandoning her again. They were extremely close and spent much time together, and Nan shaped much of Willie's character by the wisdom she shared with her. Willie was very fond of the bedtime stories her mother used to tell her, but aside from her life at home with her mother, Willie was often a victim of bullying at school. She was also ashamed of the fact that she was being bullied, and wasn’t able to confide into her mother until much later. However, Willie still stayed positive.

During her middle-school years, Willie took care of most of the household chores while Nan worked. Nan also expressed her wish for Willie to graduate middle school and attend high school and experience life as a high school girl, something Nan herself was never able to do.

Despite her friendly personality, Willie mostly spent her time alone at school. Tragedy struck one day as Nan was hit and killed in a car accident. When Willie rushed to see her in the hospital, she had already passed away, which left Willie completely grief-stricken. The same morning, Willie overslept and did not see her mother leave for work. This made her extremely regretful, as she had always told her mother to come home safely every morning before she left for the past years. For this reason, Willie partially blames herself for her mother’s death. At the same time, Willie made it a priority to safely graduate from high school to honor her mother’s wishes.

After becoming orphaned, it was eventually decided that Willie's paternal grandfather would take her in. He solely lived on his pension, so Willie decided to work so she could pay her own taxes and expenses to lessen the burden for him. When Willie was moving out from the house she shared with Nan, she felt as if her presence was fading away, and she was overcome with fear that all of their moments together and promises to each other would disappear. Because of this, Willie swore to always put her mother first in her heart, and it also during this time that Willie's grandfather habitually began calling Willie for “Nan”. Everyone seemed to write this off as a result of his age, but he really started doing it because, after Nan's funeral, it looked like Willie was going to fall apart if there wasn’t some sort of reminder every so often that Nan was once alive and that other people think of her as well.

Throughout her youth, she is shown to always put the needs of others ahead of herself, even if it costs her trouble. As a result of living and growing up in the foster system for the majority of her life, Jan is tough and has built up walls to protect herself from pain - both physically and emotionally. However, she is also compassionate and kind. She loves her younger brother Aiden very much, always putting him ahead of herself and has even risked her life for him. It is also shown that she doesn't care what happens to her, as long as she knows that he is safe. As a result of taking care of Aiden for most of her life, she has a strong tendency to sometimes act like his mother instead of his sister, much to Aiden's frustration. Despite her maternal instincts, Jan has a tendency to get herself into dangerous situations by choosing not to trust the adult figures in her life. She often felt as though by confiding in her moms, they would want to get rid of her - believing herself to be disposable. It took Jan many years to trust that her home with Whinerys was permanent, and that despite her mounting mistakes, they would always love her as their own.

Janetta Penn was born to Sherry Penn. Jan's biological father, Zack Castle, was a wealthy upperclassman who was in love with Sherry. Zack's family disapproved of their relationship and they decided to elope. However, after pressure from the Castles, Zack divorced Sherry. During this time, Sherry learned she was pregnant with their child, but chose not to tell him. When Jan was six-months-old, Sherry married Talon Penn, and Jan grew up believing Talon to be her biological father. Talon adopted Jan and her name was legally Janetta Penn. Talon and Sherry then had their first child together, Jan's younger half-brother, Aiden.

When Jan was ten, her mother and step-father, went out to dinner. Talon drove under the influence of alcohol and his recklessness caused a car accident that proved fatal for Sherry. Jan struggled with deep regret on how her last conversation with her mother went, having been mad at her and refusing to kiss her goodbye before she left. After hearing about her mother's death, Jan lashed out and destroyed her bedroom. She was so upset that she blocked the incident from her memory and thought that Aiden, who witnessed the event, destroyed her room.

After Sherry's death, Talon was arrested and later convicted of manslaughter. Jan and Aiden were placed in the foster care system. Jan felt as though she had to take care of Aiden and protect him from the many homes they moved through, several of which proved to be abusive. She shielded him from any harm even at the cost of her own safety. After many years in the system, the siblings were placed with the Tasker family. The parents already had a son, Colby, who was four-years-older than Jan. Jan bonded with Colby, as he was nice to her and would flirt with her, a gesture that was new to Jan. A romantic relationship was forbidden among foster siblings, so Jan refused the relationship for many months. However, Colby was persistent. Jan eventually gave in and began a secret relationship with him. However, late one night, he snuck into her room so they could make out, though things escalated quickly and Jan was sexually assaulted. She didn't know what to do, as the home had been the best one they'd ever been in - until now. Shortly after the rape, he claimed that she was the one who came onto him and wanted a relationship, not him. Jan and Aiden were quickly thrown out of the house, with the family claiming that Jan ruined things by pursuing a relationship. This created a rift between Jan and Aiden, with him thinking she always ruined their positive homes.

In another home a year later, Aiden tried on a dress owned by their foster father's ex-wife. The man walked in on Aiden wearing it and was infuriated to the point where he began violently beating him. Jan attempted to intervene, but was kicked in the stomach and tossed aside. Refusing to watch her brother be assaulted, she took a baseball bat to their foster father's car to avert his attention from Aiden to her. He called the police and she was arrested for destruction of property and placed in juvie. On the day of her release, she was attacked by a few girls who were jealous of her release. Soon after, a social worker from child protective services, Walt, contacted Isbel Whinery and requested she come meet the teen. He explained that he wanted to send her to Isbel and her partner, Lyndi, as there aren't any male authority figures there, which he thought would be beneficial to Jan.

Jan moved in with the Whinery family and was later reunited with her younger brother, Aiden. Isbel and Lyndi decided to foster the siblings so that they would be in a safe environment until they could find a permanent home. Walt told Isbel and Lyndi that Jan and Aiden never stayed at a foster home for more than six months, something which initially alarmed them. However, he insisted that it wasn't something the kids did, but rather bad things seemed to happen to them.

She developed a romance with Randy, Lyndi's biological son, shortly after moving in with the Whinery family. Jan knew that being in a relationship with a foster sibling wasn't allowed and that she could get kicked out of the house along with Aiden. She told Randy this, and they decided not to act on their feelings. However, they kissed and began a relationship. They then secretly dated for a brief time. However, they broke up after they realized Jan needed a family more than a boyfriend. While it was difficult for them to move on and accept each other as siblings, they gradually learned how to do so. During this time, Aiden was adopted by Isebl and Lyndi.

Jan then met her biological father, Zack Castle, and the two began to form a relationship. She also met her half-sister, Ardith, and the two girls seemed to form a relationship. Zack loved Jan and wanted to adopt her, something Jan fought against as she wanted to be part of the Whinery family. She agreed to try and form a relationship with him and did want him in her life. However, she informed Zack that her "forever home" is with the Whinerys and that they are her real family. He finally allowed the Whinerys to adopt Jan in. He withdrew his custody suite and officially signed away his legal parental rights.

After a battle with the legal system, being placed into a group home, and an investigation by the court officials, Jan went before an adoption judge one last time. She delivered a moving speech about foster kids' inability to make their own decisions, which moved the judge greatly. He granted her adoption and she was officially adopted by the Whinery family. She then legally became Janetta Whinery.

Suzu is a good time pal. She loves to laugh and is loud and proud. Her ostentatiousness is all covering her true nature, that being that she's absolutely miserable. Everything from her body to her mind, Suzu hates with fervor, and being alive is a struggle she can hardly bear. She'd rather make other people feel better than have them worry about her. She's not afraid to say if she has a problem with you, and can be argumentative, but ultimately tries to be as much of a sweetheart as she can at all times. Expect a lot of good jokes and crazy ideas. If you're feeling down, Suzu will lift you up, even at her own expense. She doesn't see herself as worth much if she can't be of service to others. One day, inevitably, the facade is going to crack. The only question is how close people intend to be when it happens.
first stage of life
Suzu grew up in Tokyo with a mother, father and older brother. Her parents argued constantly, with her mother wanting to get a job, and her father disagreeing due to his traditional values. Of course, Suzu wasn't aware of the technicalities of it all, being so young. In her early school life, she had a few friends, but most people found her strange and hard to parse due to what would later turn out to be symptoms of ADHD.

Her brother would be thrown out after coming out as gay, something Suzu wouldn't hear about until high school. She just woke up one morning, alone, and all that her parents would tell her is that her brother "went away".
second stage of life
(TW: Body image issues, disordered eating, self-harm, suicide)

Socializing would only get harder for Suzu. As time went on her awkwardness would only become more apparent, which made her classmates want to associate with her less and less. Her weight spiked as a result of stress and genetics, and she went from avoided to mocked seemingly overnight. Nobody wanted anything to do with a fat girl, let alone a weird fat girl.

Depression hit like a freight train. She didn't want to be seen by anyone. Her eating habits became erratic, but she didn't lose as much weight as she wanted to. She couldn't commit to what she believed was a "good diet". (Read: An eating disorder.) As the bullying got worse, so did her mental health. She started self-harming intensely, not able to take the pain of hating herself. Of course, she hid it well. At least until her accident.

Yeah, she ended up accidentally cutting a little too deep one time. This was after her parents revealed that they were getting divorced. The situation made things a whole lot messier, and she ended up out of school for a year. She spent that year learning English, since her mother planned on moving to America.
third stage of life
During her year off, Suzu changed her personality. She wanted to be seen as someone else. Someone different. Someone a bit more exciting, more bubbly. So what if it was fake? It was better. She sure as hell didn't want to burden the American public with her miserable self.

She was still bullied in American high school, but not as much as in Japan. Her false persona had worked. The people loved her. She could never go back -- not when she'd gotten so far.

Bunnie is as chill as the ocean waves, but don't take that as compliance -- they're a true rebel hippie. A real deal Vietnam war type, a "chain-themself-to-a-tree" kind of hippie. Unfortunately, this world is not exactly habitable for that kind of hippie. They love a good smoke session and hate being told what to do. Rebellion is in their blood -- never the violent kind, they'd get their ass kicked and they know it. A lover of malicious compliance, Bunnie gets a kick out of causing minor problems for major people. But on their downtime (which is most of the time) they're as smooth as an untouched lake. Almost anybody can chill with Bunnie Joseph. They love vibes, they get a kick out of a bit of yoga and they're cool as fuck.
first stage of life
(TW: Cancer)
Born and quickly given up, Bunnie was adopted by a gay couple who used a whole ton of loopholes to get this kid. (One of them forged marriage documents with a woman, it was a whole ordeal.) Bunnie's life would very quickly spiral into medical disaster when they realized they had leukemia. Their parents weren't rich, far from it in fact, but one of their dads at least got basic health benefits at work, so it wasn't as much of a financial burden as it could've been.

Chemo took a heavy toll on them, as it would on any child, and the side effect of their treatment was arrhythmia that will most likely never go away. This prevented them from doing any sports in the future. Oh well.

Their school life was uneventful. They weren't particularly social, but had a few close friends. They had a vested interest in forests and nature, so they spent a lot of time reading field guides.
second stage of life
They were supposed to be clean.

The leukemia recurred full-force in middle school, meaning they were back on the radiation therapy. They felt sick all of the time, and extremely depressed to boot. They never had much to do during that time, but it ended up not mattering. They were back on the streets by the end of the year. Unfortunately, you remember that job with all of the health benefits? Yeah, their dad got fired. His boss found out he was gay and while he never said that was the reason for his firing, everyone has their suspicions. They were forced to move someplace cheaper.

This became a serious problem when Bunnie suffered a rupture of the appendix and needed to get it removed. Not only did this further diminish their quality of life, but it also left their family in a MASSIVE amount of debt. This drove them into a depression, thinking it was their fault that their parents were having financial trouble.
third stage of life
Depression would turn into anger. Because wasn't it really the fault of the system that Bunnie's family had to pay exorbitant amounts of money to save them from dying of gross appendix slime?

This was more or less what radicalized them, and while their opinions are strong, they also realized that their poor health prevented them from doing anything about it. Woohoo, depression's back! At least now they were old enough to know about weed, so it's not as miserable as it could be, right? Instead, they began doing a bit of their own minor protesting. If you've seen any graffiti in town, it was probably from them.

Is it terror or pity that you feel when laying your eyes upon one of God's left-behind creatures? Gaspar Ferris is lost within the prison of his mind. Silence is deafening, so he screams all of his words. He's violent, and he's angry. The hand he's been dealt is far too meager for even the most selfless of person to accept. He's not entirely sure if he knows something's horribly wrong with him, only that he always feels that wrongness acting on his heart and mind in strange and terrible ways. He is to be avoided -- pitied from afar.
first stage of life

Gaspar did not have a happy childhood. Most people like him didn't. He was one of five children living in a tiny shack just outside of town. His mother died when he was very young, though she was hardly a prize in her own right -- a serial adulterer with a dangerous drug habit. But his father was a man truly worth fearing. A violent drunk, the children would scatter like mice whenever he returned from work, hoping none of them would be first to a beating.

The eldest ones knew nothing could be done about the family patriarch and his violent streak. They all had no choice but to attend school like normal. Gaspar was considered quiet, not particlarly social. Not bullied, but also not one with many friends or acquaintances. He was, of all his siblings, the objective least favorite. After all, he wasn't his father's son. When he was only 9, he was locked in an empty closet for almost an entire day. Realizing its efficacy, it became a common punishment used against him if he acted out. It kept him polite. Compliant.
second stage of life
While seeing a woman of the night, Mr. Ferris left a lit cigarette near the gas burner. Their tiny house was rapidly swallowed in a screaming inferno.

Gaspar only barely woke up as the foundations were disappearing around him. He realized he, too, was on fire. He couldn't remember a goddamn thing he learned in fire safety, but it ended up not mattering, since his older brother came to haul him out. He was horribly injured and suffering from a lack of oxygen. None of his other family members made it, including his father, who was among the first to go.

Being the final two Ferris brothers remaining, the elder had to carry the younger to the nearest emergency room, where Gaspar was quickly patched up as best they could. His condition looked grim, but he managed to pull through -- perhaps out of spite.

One might think that'd give Gaspar a great fear of fire. If anything, it made him obsessed with it. Nobody knows for sure why, least of all Gaspar himself, but one might suspect that he was happy it did his father in.
third stage of life
With no other family members to contact, Gaspar and his brother were put in the care of their mother, who was less than pleased to be shackled with them. Gaspar in particular, who was clearly not right in the head.

With his skin heavily scarred and nerve endings ruined, he began desperately seeking any form of sensation. He'd hold his hand over lit stoves, stick his arms with pins and just about anything else you could think of. He couldn't handle being alone in a quiet room, or an empty room, or a small room, or god forbid all three at once. Not to mention his terrible memory. She saw her abused son as a chore.

This chore only grew in size as he began lashing out in school, starting fights with just about anyone who'd come close. The most recent victim of his got hospitalized, and that was it for the school and the local police. Last anyone heard from him, he was sent to juvie just before summer vacation.

Riley's mother was a doting, passionate artist and mother. She was loving, kind and loved her kids with everything she had unfortunately she died when Riley was 6 and most of what Riley knows about her mother is what she has been told by her brother, Oli. Riley's father withdrew himself from his children after their mother died and the siblings tend to blame their father for what happened, after all it was because of his dodgy gambling and lack of ability to pay debts that got their mother killed in the first place.

Riley and Oli have basically had to fend for themselves since their mother died, while Oli, being 5 years older, essentially took over the father role of Riley , Riley still did her best to help out where she could and the two are a very close duo. Their fathers gambling never stopped and got worse after their mothers passing, he also began to drink heavily and continues to plummet himself into more debt with even more dangerous men. Throughout her life, Riley has dealt with breakins, attempted kidnappings and other stuff which has caused her hard exterior and tough nature. When Oli turned 17 he began working in a tattoo parlor as an apprentice and quickly became an established artist with high reviews. As the youngest, Nines was an exchange student from Japan(No I am not from Tokoyo, why?) who happened to be chosen for the exchange program due to her grades. Her parents were fairly well-off enough, and with her six other siblings and two stepsisters(ironically the nicest to her in the family), her parents gave her a go-ahead and let her head out. While she preferred to see herself as her parents' favorite, Nines still jumped at the chance for "a new adventure" simply because she wanted it. Nines is the type of romantic who does what she feels is best. She gets good marks, if only out of her insistence she must be the perfect child in her sprawling family.

PERSONALITY
Arjay is a very quiet person that tends to keep himself guarded from others. When he does speak up it's often words of cynical nihilism and stoic remarks, never giving up too much about himself but always being straight-forward in his answers. Level headed as he may be on the surface, Arjay keeps his cool by closing his heart to "distractions" and denying himself to feel negative emotions as best he can. However that may harm his mental health, or social stance, Arjay sticks to his motto:
"I will not pause for things that do not concern me. Be it the suffering of the others, or suffering inflicted. Everything happens for a reason that is not ours to decide, but it's our choice of how to react to it."
Cold and Apathetic as it may seem, Arjay's intent is not to harm others, and in truth he is a really passionate person that had problems withholding his temper in the past. His nature is the reconciliation of past mistakes.

Finn is known as the "less fun twin" although he thinks he's just as fun! He doesn't make heads turn when he walks into the room, he's more of a wallflower but he wouldn't want it any other way. Mischievous in a sneaky way, he's a bit more sly than his brother and his mom totally knows this.

backstory

too early for her to remember, baby dakota was transferred into foster care after her very young parents decided giving her up would be the right thing to do. luckily, she was quickly adopted by a middle class couple who welcomed her enthusiasm–showering her in the love, care and affection she would’ve missed out on if she hadn’t been so lucky. delilah and maslow link weren’t rich, but they were hard workers and their love for eachother and their daughter was more than enough to keep the family healthy and happy. though their parenting style was very lax and more on the “i’m your friend” side of things which in hindsight, was probably not entirely the best thing for a girl as eager and spunky as kodi, but
through trial and error she turned out to be a good kid and her life was all a kid could ask for. due to her father’s job as a promoter for sub pop records, from parent company warner, she was always getting backstage and front row seats to concerts and her love for music and the scene grew from that. her mother’s work as an artist and multimedia director grew her passion for art and film. her childhood wasn’t big on lavish trips or presents, but the things her parents scraped up for dakota kept her humble and grateful for the little things that she could enjoy. this early introduction to the arts really influenced dakota’s persona & frame of mind.
on the eve of christmas her 7th grade year, her mom fell ill—a sudden blood clot in her brain causing her to pass out into a coma and weeks later, she passed away. dakota and her father were heartbroken. dakota took off school for months, refusing to return and acting out, making it difficult for father who was struggling a lot himself. her father just seemed so lost. and she was too. instead of this bringing them together, it strangely seemed to push them away. and it didn’t take until the next year for her relationship with her dad to salvage some sort of recovery from the loss. but over that year and a couple more after, her father resorted to drinking and dakota had to step up and work a job to support the family especially as sub pop records was finding a hard time signing good talent and keep warner music from defunding them. thankfully it never got too terrible, but dakota never felt like she could have the same relationship she had with her parents prior.
a lot of it had to do with her father’s inability to cope properly, but dakota growing up played a huge part in this as well. she was starting to get into a lot of mischief. sneaking out, sex, smoking weed, doing drugs, partying and coming home absolutely trashed—relatively normal 14-15 year old affairs. she’d always been a bit of a trouble-maker, but it was clear she was deviating from the happy, hyperactive child to a young adult very fast. nowadays, her relationship with her dad is still awkward but she cares for him a lot and knows the impact of her mom’s death just affected him more than normal; and she can’t really be mad about it.
her sophomore year–an ugly scandal happened. a video taken with her consent was passed around the entire school, and even neighboring high schools around the area. it seemed like almost everyone had seen it and for the first time, dakota felt like she had gone way too far. she lost a good majority of her friends and became outcasted even more than she already was. kids would write mean things about her all over the school and on anonymous instagram pages and walking through the halls was seemed almost unbearable. she felt cheap and embarrassed to say the least. it wasn’t until the next year that things started to regain a normalcy, but even then her old friends seemed to not want much to do with her.
after a while of feeling bad about it, she decided to embrace to bad press. so what if she got around? she couldn’t help it. and what was so bad about it anyway? thoughts like this changed her outlook on the entire situation and quickly her confidence grew back ten times stronger. every now and then a douchebag brings up the scandal, but she decides to fight the humiliation with light-heartedness and zippy comebacks instead.
kodi was born an eager and extremely sociable baby never having any problems speaking her mind or walking up to a complete stranger and having an entire conversation with them. this never changed. she was always bright, personable and as sun-shiney as a kid could be. no scandal, nor tragedy could ever dim that. but to lose the world in the blink of an eye would be a true testament to her alacrity.
