The Unstealable Jewel (Exalted)

Unbridled Originality

Stole your Sweetroll
It is known by many names: Lapis Lazuli, Crown of the Winds, Seat of the Sky-King. But most only know it as Sirocco. Since the fall of the Deliberative, it has become a legend, spoken of in hushed tones by scavenger lord and beggar alike. Some say it was a self-sufficient utopia, others a weapon on the scale of the Sword of Creation. They all agree, however, that it was lost forever to the shifting sands of the South.

But when an ancient monolith is uncovered that purports to hold a map to the ancient city's location, the race is on to reach it first.

This will be a fairly slow-paced Creation Ruling Mandate game, revolving around repairing and repopulating a badly damaged First Age floating city. All Celestial exalts will be allowed, though, obviously, Infernals and Abyssals need to be renegades.

All exalt types use Solar BP costs.

All XP costs are replaced by the below chart (thanks to Sojiko for developing it). These costs are static, except for Essence, meaning they do NOT rely on the current rating.

XP Costs (Unfavored/Favored)

* Attribute : 8/6 XP

* Ability : 4/3 XP

* Specialty : 2/1 XP

* Native-level Magics : 10/8 XP (includes Charms and spells)

* Superior Magics : 12/10 XP (includes mortals learning TMA and TCS, or Db learning CMAs)

* Other Magic : 9 XP (includes heretical Charms, Infernal spells, and Knacks)

* Essence : Rating × 8 XP

* Virtue : 3 XP

* Willpower : 3 XP

* Colleges: 4/2 XP

* Thaumaturgy Degree 6/4 XP (or 3/2 BP at chargen)

Abilities may be increased beyond 3 without bonus points, even for non-solars.

Sidereals may not start play with a Salary greater than 3.

All Solars, Abyssals and Infernals receive 2xp per in-game year. All Lunars and Sidereals receive 3xp.

Characters receive a free purchase of Ox-Body Technique (Or equivalent) with each dot of Essence. Ox-Body Technique may no longer be purchased independently of this, and is only bounded by Essence.

All Craft abilities are now a single Craft. This means that Craft grants equal aptitude with blacksmithing, agriculture, architecture etc.

When rolling Craft for Esoteric crafts, they are limited by a single other ability, listed below:

Magitech: Lore

Genesis: Medicine

Fate: Occult

Glamour: Occult

Crafting small items roll Perception, crafting large items roll Intelligence

Sorcerers receive one free spell upon initiating into each Circle. This new spell must be chosen from the circle being learned.

Resonance will be handled according to the rules in Shards of the Exalted Dream, as will Sidereal Astrology.

Every two charm slots spent on Excellencies grants a third for free. The third forced purchase of an Infernal's Patron or Favored excellency is free.

Mutations are handled with @Orzhov - Fiend - Shifting Sands

@Exthalion - Eclipse Exile - Shedhartu

@xarvh - Night Con Man - Cathak Maiano

I'm interested in Who Dares Grasp The Thorn and The Unstealable Jewel... the first, as a Dusk Caste (turned from a Solar Exalt, possibly; otherwise a de novo Dusk Caste is fine), and the second as the (Wo)Man Out of Time Twilight Caste.

I'll toss my hat into the ring here, too. Hopefully my presence won't jinx everything the way it seems to; most games I try and join wither up and die. :cry:

I like all the concepts, though admittedly the more political ones draw me further.

So my main choices would be Who Dares Grasp the Thorn and The Unstealable Jewel. Would obviously have no issue with the others though.

I haven't had a chance to play as either a Abyssal or a Sidereal, so any game where I could pull one of those out would be my first vote. Gives me a chance to do something new.

I have background fluff for both an Abyssal and a Sidereal that I have not gotten a chance to run more than a session or two ready to go. Just depends on what you're looking for.

Well, the way it looks right now, people are gravitating towards Thorn or Jewel, so an Abyssal could fit into either, with some modifications of fluff, and a Sidereal could fit into Jewel.

Is the floating city in Jewel a Directional Titan? It would be fun to try and put one of those back together.

Lots of hijinx possible, dealing with the mutated crew who've taken up residence in its halls, battling through the hordes of automata guarding the reactor core, managing the various subpopulations...

I'm interested in both Who Dares Grasp the Thorn and The Unstealable Jewel. I'd probably prefer The Unstealable Jewel, but I could see playing a Midnight Caste in Who Dares Grasp the Thorn.

I would just need to know which game you are planning on, and the details of whatever game crunch changes for character generation you have in mind to get started. Assuming, of course, that I am one of the lucky ones to get picked for the game.

Well, response seems overwhelming towards Jewel or Thorn, so I suppose the decision now is between those two.

Jewel would be using base character creation, though all Exalt types get to enjoy Solar BP costs. Thorn would use the Established Solar rules in Lords of Creation.

Cool. Playing an established Abyssal sounds good. It makes up for all the games that I have wanted to play one and they fizzle and die.

Is that from the Abyssal book? I'm looking at the chargen rules from Lords of Creation and I don't see that.

If you wouldn't mind lil' Ol me showin interest? I'm game for Abyssal stuffz..

And would /love/ Unstealable Jewel.
