The Ferryman
It was supposed to be man’s greatest invention. It was supposed to help us look further into the future and discover the mysteries of our past. You were supposed to come back. You were supposed to go farther than anyone has ever gone before. You were the first human experiments of time travel. But you were also the only survivors. Everyone else became Unexisted. When you returned, there was clearly something wrong. You were home again, but you weren’t. You went to bed and woke up in 1938 Berlin. By the afternoon, you had witnessed the fall of Rome. Before you could eat dinner, you watched your mother give birth to you. You were there, and then you weren’t. You’re losing your mind. You don’t know where you are... no. You don’t know when you are. All you know know is that today, you could be sitting comfortably in your hospital bed beside the rest of experiments with your condition, and tomorrow, you could be staring down the barrel of a Soviet tank, on a ship sailing to the Americas alongside Columbus, or even worse... stuck between alternate timelines, or two time periods colliding. A world where the Cuban Missile Crisis resulted in nuclear war, or Japan in both 1348 and 2137 at the same time with cyborgs dressed in clothing from the time of the shogunate. You could blink and be somewhere else in another time sometimes even in the future. You just don’t know. The world’s most intelligent scientists and doctors can’t help you. So.. one day, they cut your support. They turned off the lights in your room, shut the door, and left you to die. Your mission? Survive, discover the cure to your affliction, and return home, this time, to stay.
