- Prelude
Long ago, a massive spike in agricultural pest activity was reported within the land known as The Overworld. Crops and produce were being lost at a rate that threatened humanity as a whole.
In response, Overworld officials converged to found an agency tasked with reducing the loss of farmland and exterminating the insects that were plaguing them— permanently.
After weeks of frantic trials, a solution was found; a Pesticide that, if successful, would wipe any threats to the Overworld's food supply off of the map.
However, the operation failed. An error in the pesticide’s chemical composition caused the entire operation to completely backfire. Instead of being eradicated, Arthropods mutated into massive, horrifying, man-eating beasts of destruction, bringing calamity to to the Overworld and forcing the remains of humanity into underground hiding.
This incident came to me known as the Pesticide Disaster, and led to the establishment and expansion of the new subterranean world known as The Underground.
Overview
Welcome to the official interest check for The Underground! This Roleplay takes place in a fictional world known as... well, you guessed it, The Underground.
The Underground is a vast, ever-expanding region of the world that became inhabited by humans following the Pesticide Disaster. Originally a cluster of underground bunkers, after years of development The Underground has experienced immense growth; with multiple municipalities connected by a plethora of unorganized tunnels and railroads. In this world, you will play as a member of an independent group known as The Exterminators, who are dedicated to defending The Underground from Gigapods, the enormous, mutated, bloodthirsty arthropods plaguing mankind with violent attacks on civilizations.
As an Exterminator, you will fit into one or more categories depending on your special class:
Engineers: (Usually) Powerless individuals with an uncanny affinity for creating and maintaining instruments. With their skills and the vast resources attainable from within The Underground, Engineers are capable of creating advanced weaponry and machinery, such as compact railguns or advanced prosthetics.
Alchemists: Considered to be descendants of the Angel of Philosophy widely worshiped by The Underground’s Occult, Alchemists are individuals with the ability to manipulate the mystical life-energy known as Gaia and transmute it to create something else. Usually molded after one or many special interests the Alchemist has, these abilities require a deep understanding of whatever the user transmutes.
Entomen: Entomen are a rare type of humans whose bodies were able to resist the deadly effects that follow exposure from the venom produced by Gigapods. If a human's body resists the venom, they experience a genetic mutation that grants them the qualities of one or multiple beings in the Arthropoda Phylum. The physical changes in Entomen vary, with some being able to pass as regular humans for their entire lives, and others having visible arthropod qualities like limbs, stingers, and antennae.
Exterminators will also experience run-ins with Plaguers, members of a criminal organization known as The Plague that is composed entirely of Entomen. Plaguers have recently made a name for themselves by way of their vicious raids on Underground settlements, murders, and a myriad of other violent crimes. The Plague’s goals are mostly unknown, but it is apparent that they align with Gigapods and aim to increase their activity throughout The Underground. As an Exterminator, it is your duty to protect the innocent from these criminals if they present themselves.
- Please note that this Roleplay will be anime-themed with heavy PVE activity, and eventual opportunities for PVP scenarios. Feel free to come to me here with any questions or concerns, or just to express your interest! If I notice a sufficient amount of interest in the roleplay, I will create character sheets, and eventually start the roleplay! Thank you!

Story * - Characters
- Dual Classes. As for the Classes in the roleplay, you are able to create characters that have two Classes. The only rules I have for this concept is that the Alchemist and Entoman classes will always be the 'Primary Class', and Engineers will always be the 'Secondary Class'. Also, characters that are Entomen cannot be an Alchemist as their secondary class, and vice versa. A little too powerful, no?
- Entomen. Entomen are cool, but meant to be uncommon in The Underground- meaning there shouldn't be more Entomen then there are Engineers and Alchemists. Because of this, depending on how many people express interest, I may place a tentative cap on Entomen when opening up character sheets.
When it comes to Entomen, I would prefer if people were original with the arthropods they choose for their characters. But, because there are so many different types of arthropods, I'm going to say duplicates may be approved if you come to me with your idea first, and if they aren't a copy of someone else's Entoman abilities. For example, two people can be beetle Entomen, but they shouldn't both be bombardier beetles with the ability to blow stuff up with their chemical blasts.
Prohibited Phylum Genes:
These Phylum Genes are currently not allowed for character use, for story purposes

Rules1.Be Nice. As with every list of rules on an interest check on this site, we start with the easiest one to follow-- Kindness. Banter is okay, but any unnecessary rudeness, hate or conflict will not be tolerated.
2.Do not godmod, metagame, or powerplay. Overpowered abilities, in-character access to confidential OOC info, and control of cast members/NPCs created by others without their consent is strictly prohibited.
3.Communicate. My motto has always been "Life comes first"! Things happen in life, and that's no problem. My only request is that you at least inform me if you are going on vacation, experiencing an emergency, or need to go on hiatus/leave the roleplay. This makes it easier to transition you/your character to the side or out of the roleplay rather than having to wait and see if you will be returning following radio silence.
4.1 Character Limit. For now, there will be a maximum of one character per player. NPCs are always an option, but please bring any ideas to me if they are to be anything greater than someone for your character to interact with. Please also refrain from using NPCs as though they are their own characters without coming to me first.
5.Follow RPN Rules & Guidelines. Self explanatory!Rules * - LinksLinks *
