flirty as heck. she’s a lovely person, but has plenty of issues. if she gets to trust you she just might dump all her problems on you and then leave, but she’s ridiculously charming and easy to get along with. she constantly calls everyone lovely and half the time you can’t tell if she’s joking or being serious. her relationship with her family at the academy ultimately changed her personality, quite a bit. she was a fun-loving, happy child but now she’s just... sad. she has a serious substance addiction. she never had a good relationship with her “father” because she never trusted him. she has attempted to reach out to her biological mother on multiple occasions with no response, which has also affected her negatively. she is a pro at putting on a fake face and smiling through the pain, and drugs and alcohol certainly help quite a bit with this.

history

after leaving the academy, Kailo began feeling the inconvenience of her powers more and more. she began to use drugs and alcohol as an unhealthy coping method, quickly becoming addicted. she was in and out of rehab
constantly by the age of 19. she started using her powers for the better, though, using them to get a good job and then... lose it. and she was in and out again, and that was just this year. her substance abuse addiction is simply a coping method. she is also the type to hook up with somebody new almost every day. she had good relationships with the majority of her siblings, but she never really thought of them as her siblings. she was sometimes a bit of a black sheep, being that she was disrespectful and cold to her family. her abilities were tiring, and she didn’t sleep much, so she was always tired and cranky. she developed anxiety and depression because of this and how alone she felt, leading her to find pleasure in hookup culture. the majority of her past relationships didn’t stick, seeing that she was so unusual.

similar to Klaus in the canon series, Kailo has the ability to see the dead. it haunts her. her dreams, her daily life, everything. she can use advice of the dead to her advantage, and they can assist her and keep her company. the spirits will come to her whenever they please, and since they don’t need to sleep, this is very often. she doesn’t need to be in any certain circumstance for them to come to her. if she has enough information on who she wants to summon and the spirit agrees, she can summon up anyone. she has made deals with spirits before, but they had frightening consequences.

she is fearful of the spirits, and extremely emotionally vulnerable. they scare her. they are also almost always present. she isn’t the best at keeping them at bay.​

Short-statured but lean built, with eyes like sharpened fire. Her mother was Argentinan, lending her to be Hispanic in appearance, with soft brown skin and short dark hair, which she generally always leaves tied up in a knot-like bun. She dresses in a hoodie and jeans nearly all the time, and tends to keep a relaxed but noticeably attentive stance.

☂ Personality:
Lena can handle herself just fine, and she would prefer it if everyone else thought so as well. Whether or not that judgment is true is up for debate. She's an independent person, in the fact that she likes to think of herself that way and is supremely satisfied with the part of adulthood that means she doesn't have to take orders from anyone anymore. Except her boss. And...her professors. Oh well, she doesn't have to listen to her dad, so that's a plus, right?

Lena is seen, generally, as a calm person. She's observant, studious--prone to people watching if she's not reading or doing anything else. She likes to study people, get inside their heads, although she'd be hard pressed to do that to herself. She doesn't get excited easily, but wears a slight smile that tends to make her look either haughty or just amused in a friendly way. She's not against talking to people (unless they're annoying), although she's often dry and her advice tends to sound more like criticism. But that's just what she does when she likes you: keep you company while sitting around like a dead weight and offering occasional commentary.

But that is only, as it would seem, the surface of the story. Like everything else in her life, her confidence is a garbled mix of reality and illusion. She doesn't know what she's doing. She's scared of herself and of failure. And though she knows she wants to leave this place far behind, there's a part of her, still, that misses it. She misses the fighting. She misses the missions. She longs for that one exhilarating moment when she makes the bad guy more scared than she is. After all, it's easier making enemies than friends. And so, although she hasn't gone vigilante yet, she's tempted. It wouldn't take much. But there is more than that, at her core. Deep down, like way deep down, she really just wants to live. Go out, do things, exist on her own terms, be with the people she wants to be with. She wants to be free. Maybe, eventually, she can be.

☂ History:
Lena knew, after leaving the academy, that she wanted to make a life for herself, even if she didn't exactly know what that would be. She finished high school and headed off to college as a Computer Science major, working her way through by taking on a part-time retail job, which she hates with a passion. She really can't wait until they finally get some inheritance money so she can quit.

She managed school fine...except for one thing. Her roommates. She lived in a dorm at first, with three other girls besides herself, and it was fine. They were decent people. The problem, however, was herself. It didn't matter that she was miles away from the academy. She had nightmares still, bad memories, and it showed. She has, for a long time, had the problem of using her power in her sleep. She can't really control it then. So now, when the screams of her dreams get cut into by the screams of her living waking roommate...she knew there was a problem. She terrified them, and she couldn't fix it. Eventually, it drove a wedge between them, and she had to move out and live on her own. One of her roommates, Bridget, still worries about her and tries to keep in contact, but Lena hasn't been the best at reciprocating.

Powers
☂ Ability: Mirage
Lena holds the ability to, basically, make illusions. She can make light forms in any given space, making the appearance of an object, or a person, or pretty much anything she can imagine in her mind. She can make the things move and appear lifelike, and to most eyes, they appear perfectly opaque. They look real, until you touch it, in which case your hand would go straight through. It's just a mirage--it's not really there. However, it can make for a rather decent distraction. She can make big things, small things, a whole house if she wanted to, at roughly a four or five hundred foot radius from her person. On a more benign scale, in a fight, she often used this to make copies of herself and her siblings to confuse their opponents with. However, her father also thought this would be a great way to absolutely mess with someone's mind. In training, she practiced many times to make monsters--startling Lovecraftian-type horrors that with the right effect can fool someone out of their mind, especially considering the array of powers her siblings already had to help dispel disbelief. Add some sound effects, and many times, it worked. Problem is, it still stays with her, though. These monsters have a tendency to come back in her nightmares...and when that happens, everybody else gets to see them, too.

☂ Ability Limitations:
--Obviously, this is in no way a combat ability. It doesn't make her stronger or faster, so in that case, Lena is still fairly squishy, despite knowing some basic hand-to-hand. All she can do is trick people with that.
--To that effect, some people are less easy to trick than others. If someone knows about her ability, it's a lot easier to see through the ruse and take her down. And if they're blind or just in a dark place; her power is pretty much useless.
--Lena can only keep so much up at once. Although her range is fairly wide, the image will start to flicker if she's too far away, or if the images are too many for her to handle. This often is also a problem if she gets injured. If sufficiently shocked, her images will either go transparent or drop altogether.

Ji-min left the academy at eighteen to try and make a life for himself. He got a job working as a barista and managed to get a small apartment by himself. He would practice his powers each night.
His life was going fairly well until one night when his apartment got broken into. He was asleep when it happened, but he was woken up when the intruder assaulted him. He fought back to the best of his abilities, and he eventually won, but it ended with him moving back to the Hargreeves Estate out of the pure need to feel safer than he had been before. He has continued his job as a barista, but he continues to live in the Hargreeves Estate.

His powers were sedated (still are) through medicine to an extent so he didn't essentially destroy reality, but he was more willing to do it.

He can create, shape and manipulate reality just by thinking about it. He can even make changes from nothing. Depending on the power of a reality warper, they may alter something as tangible as physics and the universe to something inconceivable like logic.

A mostly serious, and focused character, Sebastian rarely understands or properly knows how to joke. He takes most everything as it's said, and finds it difficult to read between the lines. This poses as a good or bad thing, someone to find when you're looking for blunt honesty and trust, but not one to joke with or taunt. His very pure personality also makes it very easy to read his emotions and facial expressions too.

Leaving the Umbrella Academy Mansion, Sebastian adjusted well in the real-world. He graduated in law and criminology, before soon enrolling into the NYPD as a rookie. Sebastian thrived under the strict system of law and order, ascending the ranks with speed. He rarely used his abilities, except dire and desperate situations. In the world, he'd go on to make connections, garner properties of his own in the New York area, and make a name for himself as a promising member of the New York police corps.

It wasn't until the death of his partner on the police quadrant that Sebastian's memories of the Academy rekindled. His partner for 2 years had passed away in a during a gunfight with a New York-based cartel. Not only did the death of his partner remind him of the death of his younger brother Ben (number 6) who'd passed away in their youth, it only reminded him of the abilities he suppressed, and if he'd used, could've saved his partner. Lost, and hurt, Sebastian applied for temporary leave, and has made his way back to the Umbrella Academy.

Self-Density Manipulation: Sebastian is able to manipulate the density of his own physical state of matter. By raising, and tightening the density of his body, he is able to increase his strength greatly to the point of lifting cars, and thickening the density of the surface of his skin to nigh-invulnerability, bulletproof, fire proof, etc. By lowering his density, he can also become completely intangible, allowing objects to pass through him, as well as allowing himself to levitate and fly great distances. In general, he is able to manipulate his weight due to his flux in density as well.

  Personality: Even before the disbandment of the academy, Angel has always valued his independence above everything - something which stemmed from his fear of hurting others who get too close due to his ability. He's a lot more introverted than a lot of people and isn't really that open with his feelings as others would want him to be. Angel is someone who has a strong sense of justice and moral justice. He can easily distinguish the lines of right and wrong, which he never crosses into the wrong side. This made him the mediator in childhood when it came to a lot of the squabbles between the group. He is someone who can easily be depended on when the time comes and although a lot of the time you'll find him complaining about his siblings and his family - it's often laced with a sense of warmness and familiarity. While he does look out for himself given his current situation, he knows how to not wrong someone who is good to others.

  History: After the disbandment of the academy Angel lead a rather quiet life. Though his abilities would work in various different fields, Angel simply didn't want it. Now that he was done with the academy all he ever wanted was just to live a life of peace and quiet. He resumed his studies in a normal school after moving out of the main house and worked part-time in a local bakery. He wanted to go to university to study a simple degree far from what he did back at the academy - maybe something in mathematics? He did occasionally wonder what his 'family' were up to. He even tried to track his actual family - his biological mother that is. He tried everything, going to the town hall, stealing to try to find his record. Despite all his efforts all he ever came across were just blacked out lines of text, leaving him to believe that his biological family wanted nothing to do with him.

  Ability: Angel has the ability of Molecular Acceleration. He has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object or within himself and convert it to kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with explosive results at any given time. Charging takes place through direct skin contact. The power of his explosions is dependent on objects mass he is charging, for example, a charged coin would explode with the force of a grenade. It was a power that caused him a lot of grief as a child as he could control the amount of energy he used when throwing or playing around, often breaking things around him.
  Ability Limitations: Explosions are often difficult to contain with this ability and often result in big or heavy fires when used to its fullest extent. Another limitation of this ability is the time required to charge the object. The larger it is, the more time it takes to charge it. Charging larger objects also takes a physical toll on the user of the object as well.

  Personality: Noah is sociable and gentle. He's also imaginative, fun-loving and anticipative, but in smaller doses. His sociable nature is what made him well liked amongst his peers, except for Reginald Hargreeves who claimed that Noah was 'too soft' for the team and that he needed to toughen up for what needed to be done. A lot of people rely on him for emotional support and he would gladly deliver that for whoever needs it. Noah also has less favorable traits too - his crassness and blunt nature sour the mood many a time even at the best of times - he doesn't really take into account what he says - fortunately, her gentleness helps lighten the blows and moods when needed. He also often has people calling him a 'flake' behind his back due to his more forgetful nature.

  History: After the disbandment of the academy Noah went on to do rather large things. He was scouted by an entertainment agency at a young age after a lot of people saw him and the umbrella academy on live television. Because of this, he was sent contract after contract for different entertainment ventures. Eventually, however, Noah settled on modeling and saw to becoming the face of many big and illustrious designer labels like Gucci and Chanel. Nowadays, he's actually a lot more known for his work as a model rather than his work with the umbrella academy - something which he's thankful for. He didn't really finish education and often feels inadequate because of it. He often cites being apart of the umbrella academy as some of the 'worst years of his life' and doesn't really talk about it on interviews.

  Ability: Noah has Acoustikinesis - the ability to manipulate sound and sound waves. He can generate powerful sonic blasts, sonic force-fields, and can even create solid objects created from sound including battering rams, pincers and platforms. Noah can also generate high pitched sonic vibrations that are subtle enough to avoid him being consciously detected by others and, thereby, allowing him to influence the actions of others. He can also propel himself and travel at the speed of sound using his manipulation of sound waves. At his strongest, he can produce low enough sound frequencies to cause internal damage to his opponents.
  Ability Limitations:Soundwaves are everywhere and are extremely difficult to specify unless it's the user and opponent so if Noah isn't careful with how he uses his ability - he could wind up hurting a lot of different people, including himself if he doesn't contain it. Acoustikinesis - when used - is an extremely loud ability, now allowing him to be discreet when he needs to be. It also makes concentrating as a whole difficult as he can literally hear everything.

After leaving the academy it was the first time in a long time that June has felt free to do what she pleases. No one can tell her what to do or when she has to do it she was just June. June lived a very busy life in Los Angeles after she finished college and which things weren't as private for her as she would have wanted them to be. June had become a model and a singer over time while she was traveling the world. The only bad part of that life was people watching her every move and she hated it, but she loved her work. The family was still the one thing she will ever think about when she was away and hope they found what they were looking for in life.

After leaving the academy it was the first time in a long time that June has felt free to do what she pleases. No one can tell her what to do or when she has to do it she was just June. June lived a very busy life in Los Angeles after she finished college and which things weren't as private for her as she would have wanted them to be. June had become a model and a singer over time while she was traveling the world. The only bad part of that life was people watching her every move and she hated it, but she loved her work. The family was still the one thing she will ever think about when she was away and hope they found what they were looking for in life.

Onyx is generally free spirited and carefree. She can never seem to stay in one place too long if she can help it. She’s not all sunshine and laze fare
because no one can be after growing up the way her and her siblings did. She’s got a fiery temper when pushed too far, but that can typically only
be done by someone she's close too. Someone who'd know her well enough to push the right buttons. She’s spontaneous which in her youth labeled her a rebel.
After spending her childhood forced to live by strict contained rules, she does what she can to live on the edge. Living like this doesn't allow her to really get
close to anyone because most don't see her as dependable, and certainly not responsible. She tends to leave as quickly as she arrives, so she's got a bunch
of "friends" that are actually just acquaintances. The only people she's ever been around long enough to truly know her is her family, and she hasn't really kept
up with most of them. Sometimes this gets to her, but most of the time she's too busy living in the fast lane to notice or care. However when she does care,
she cares very deeply to most peoples surprise. This doesn't mean she suddenly thinks things through, it just means she moves on impulse to help or protect those
she loves which at times hasn't worked out too well either. She was always criticized for not thinking before she acted by their father.

☂ History (Since leaving the academy to present day):

- In the 7 years since 6th death, and the academy disbanding Onyx did all she could to drift farther and father away
from the mansion. She wanted to escape the painful memories, and finally live a life she could call her own, not her
fathers, not for the sake of the world, but just for her. She wanted to know what it felt like to be selfish, and she did.
She picked up a guitar, a small bag of clothes, and hitched a ride with anyone she felt would be fun to travel with.
At first she tried to avoid using her powers, but traveling cross country at such a young age was hard without singing a few times
about free food, or needing a place to crash. When she was 18 and in Vegas she found the world of gambling, and it took a hold on her.
Something that was completely by chance, that she couldn't control? That no one could control? That was a dream come true.
She quickly got addicted, and wound up getting in and out of debt a lot, and dealing with some pretty shady people all the while.
Finally for her safety, after a particularly violent incident got out of town and headed for LA. She never stopped gambling, which makes getting
there take a bit longer, and getting any sort of stability take longer because she's constantly broke. Now at 20, she's finally gotten settled in LA
with a job as a dealer at a casino, a decently stable place to stay, with a co-worker roommate, that's when she gets the news about Reginald.
At first she's not sure if she wants to go, but after some convincing that she might need closer, she goes. Even if to just see how
some of her siblings are doing after all this time.

☂ Relationships (this can include NPCs and other members of the academy)
- She really likes "Mom" even though she knows she's not a real person
-She loved Pogo when she was a child living in the mansion. She's tried not to think much about him since.
-She dislikes their "Father" because of his treatment of all of them, and blames him for number 6th death. If they'd gotten to be raised
like normal children things might've been different.

Powers

☂ Ability:
Siren Song- She emits a powerful hypnotic vocal melody. If she sings what she wants you to do you have a high probability of doing it, then forgetting she even sang it to you.
☂ Ability Limitations (weaknesses):
-Because this happens anytime she sings, she avoid singing for pleasure because if anyone hears her, and the lyrics voice any sort of action/command anyone who hears her
will obey the command.
-This also means if she can't sing for any reason (bound/gagged/ect.) her powers don't work at all which leaves her as vulnerable as a normal person.
-She has to be heard for it to work. So if the person can't hear or has ear plugs (ect.) it won't. It also won't work if they are too far away. The closer they are the stronger the persuasion, the farther they are the easier it is to resist.
-She can't make you do things that are impossible, or unnatural. So she can't give you superpowers, she can't forge memories, and even if she does have you do something like forget something, it's not permanent. The more unlikely something is to happen or the person it do, the more temporary commands that deal with altering them in any way shape or form will last. They still will have no memory of her tampering with them via song once it's faded.

Persona
➔ Personality: Carlos is a quiet, mild-mannered man with a heart of gold and yet the disposition that he isn't worthy of anyone's time. He is often withdrawn, constantly at a loss for words or response; the only language he understands is sacrifice, which would be far more noble if Carlos didn't always think it was required of him—and yet, it is the only way he knows to show that he cares. Carlos is quite empathetic, despite his self-perceived notion that he is too far removed from humanity, but he proves that he is adept at carrying other people's burdens...just not his own. He adopts the "lock-it-in-a-box" mentality and attempts to move forward with his life, although, Carlos has found that he is actually quite lost on his own. He's sort of pessimistic, soft-spoken and dead-faced, and too stubborn to believe that the hope he cherishes can ever be real.

➔ History: Carlos was devastated when Ben died; he himself had always been so close to mortality, and yet, the death of his brother was beyond comprehension. Even then, he stuck around the manor for a time, watching as his siblings dropped off one by one. He didn't know how to leave—how to be on his own. But even he had enough, and the night before Hargreeves wanted to do...something to him—Carlos didn't know what, and that terrified him enough—he left with hardly anything to him name. After interloping through the woods for a time, he found work at an animal shelter after he took an injured dog there. An old woman by the name of Azriel Ward ran the place, and taking pity on the 'stray' she took him in and sent him to school. After high school, Carlos attempted to go to veterinary school, but quickly found he couldn't stomach it and came back to the shelter. One day, Ms. Azriel informed him of Hargreeves' death; he felt guilty for the instant shred of relief he experienced, but following that, Carlos determined that he did really want to see his siblings again—bearing no hate toward anyone in the family, despite his reclusion—and left to go back to his childhood home.

➔ Relationships [wip]
— He and Mom were fairly close, although he was always secretly off-putted by her more robotic tendencies.
— With Pogo, he had a more strained relationship. Pogo was nice and caring, sure, but the anthropomorphic chimp always unsettled him, if only because his physique was what he feared to become.
— Carlos obeyed Hargreeves, and cooperated because that was simply what he knew to do, but the man always terrified him.
— He had been close with Ben, Number Six. They were both quiet and rather bookish, and they both had terrifyingly inhuman qualities about them. It was a real blow to lose him.
— Ms. Azriel is something of a mom to him—more like a grandmother, probably. She cared for him more than anyone else had, and he loves her for it, though he still can't understand it all.


Powers
➔ Ability: Limb Regeneration — Should Carlos lose part of or all of any of his limbs, he can almost instantly grow it back. And, in a weird little loophole, the limb he grows back doesn't have to be human: as long as it is somewhat proportional to a human limb, he can grow almost anything in its place. He can even grow tail parts, though the human tailbone is stunted in its natural state.
➔ Ability Limitations
— In order to change form of his limbs, he must lose the part he is trying to change.
— Although he can theoretically produce anything, he must have an understanding of how the limb he wants to grow works; he usually circles through a pool of animal limbs for that reason.
— He can only grow back limbs—arms, legs, and tail. If he is injured elsewhere, or loses anything else, he cannot grow it back. Yes, this has been tested.
— It takes stamina and energy to grow limbs back, so there's a certain limit to how much he can do in a row.
— Losing limbs and growing new ones hurts as much as you would imagine: regeneration does nothing to nullify the pain.
