The Vessels are already starting out at the hideout in Phailian. So, I am just going to say he never made it. The Jewel taking him there thought he was too much of a risk, and let him go. Maybe tells Nich that he died or something cause Nich would have wanted him anyway. So, the rest of the Vessels wont even know about him so it will be even more of a shock when they find a Vessel working with the Miners.
None of the Vessels are bad people, the gems wouldnt have chose them if they were
