|| Jules Kaffir

|| 19

|| 5'7''

|| Jules is a quiet soul with a friendly smile. He won't hesitate to give a helping hand, even if it means going out of his own way to do so. He also isn't much of a leader, preferring to remain in the background and performing many small tasks rather than a large, important one. He also doesn't require thanks and often tends to brush off praise in a slightly embarrassed manner. This might make one think he is stuck-up, but the opposite is really truer. Jules also likes personal space and likes to assume that other people respect it, even when some don't.

|| Jules was born of a solidly middle-class family and happily so. He had five other siblings, all of them being sisters, and is the third oldest. Being the only boy of he family besides his dad, he sometimes felt pressure to brush off the girly things his sisters loved in favor of more many objects. As time went on, however, he found himself caring less and less of what people thought of him. He is now halfway through his second year of college, which means he has begun to look seriously at the future. He works part-time as a librarian, and, not too surprisingly, loves it. He is considering pursuing a career in archiving and archaeology, although that is always prone to change. Jules is currently single and not really looking for a relationship, as he feels like he should focus more on his studies before he lives a normal life.

|| Emma Cainhurst ||

faith_from_mirror__s_edge_by_rodnekka-d3atw61.jpg

Age: 20
Height: 5'7

Emma is a hard-working college student, but more dedicated to her passions rather than her studies. As an athletic girl with an enthusiasm for thrill and competition, she tends to be overconfident, although not without reason. Whether it's a lighthearted dare or a physical challenge, she'll take it on with courage in herself. However, there are a few things that bring a chill to her spine; After being bitten by a snake at a young age, she's had a deathly fear of the slithery creatures as a whole. On top of that, the deep, dark ocean and any sea animals dwelling there terrify her, despite the fact that she's never had any interaction with it.

As for her personality, she's not opposed to interacting with friends, but generally lives a solitary life. When she is with others, Emma usually tries to stay on everyone's good side, but occasionally lets out some sarcastic insults and boasts, yet it's all in friendly nature. Her best attribute is staying calm, as she shrugs off any rude remarks thrown at her and never makes a scene.

Backstory: Emma grew up with a mostly standard lifestyle, albeit there were a few tough times. At the age of twelve, her parents divorced, but she didn't let it affect her severely. As the youngest in the family, she began living solely with her mother, as her two brothers had already moved out. She continued pushing on through the monotonous life of school, spending her spare time through sports and relaxation at home. She also has a love for snowboarding, but never got the opportunity to practice it very much. Eventually, after graduating high school, she followed the footsteps of her siblings, entering a lonely, yet peaceful life of attending university.

Name: Ranger Bart Smith
Age: 28
Height: Average
Appearance: Lean and rugged with short, yet somewhat wild black hair and beard. While on duty, he wears a wide-brimmed ranger's hat, and one of a variety of coats, ranging from relatively light canvas to heavy winter coats, depending on the season. Generally, he typically wears jeans and flannel, and carries a variety of small survival items.
Traits: Wilderness know-how
Small Backstory: Bart has lived a relatively unremarkable life up to this point. He grew up in Yellowknife, Yukon and spent much of his youth camping with and learning woodsmanship from his father. He applied with the Department of Forestry straight out of high school. Now, as a forest ranger, he gets to spend much of his time in the woods, and aside from helping/educating the odd camper, he gets relatively few chances to meet people. Not that he's a loner, he just isn't totally accustomed to dealing with people outside of his authority.

Name
Maria Page
Age
23
Height
5'9"
Appearance
A slim, brown-haired, white woman who should by any rights look mousy and demure. However, instead of averting her eyes from people, she always seems alert, frowning as though suspicious. Her hair is thin and shoulder-length, although tied back in a bun for work.

She worries about how she looks-- or at least what other people will think, so makes an effort to dress smartly, usually in skirts and blouses. She avoids high-heeled shoes, though, at least partly because she worries about being too tall.

All of this, along with the way she carries herself, makes her look somewhat older than she is, borne from a desire to be seen as mature and responsible.

Traits
Most of the time Maria appears to be laid-back and calm, so long as she agrees with the way that things are going. However she can't help but input her own opinions, or correct people if they're (in her eyes) wrong.

She is not mean-spirited, merely likes things to be done in a certain (proper) way, the way that she's used to. Sometimes that involves being argumentative or patronising, if she thinks somebody else is making a mistake.

Most of her intelligence is logical or book smarts, and she is perfectly capable of having lapses of common sense, or getting stuck in a particular way of thinking. She may take a while to get to a decision, but once she does it is difficult to change her mind. Even if she recognises that somebody else has come up with something better, she may be reluctant to admit it.

Overall though, she does not try to be unkind. She does like to help people out, at least partly because it makes her feel like she can take control of a situation.

Backstory
After studying chemistry at university, she began training to be a science teacher for GCSE/high school students. Despite it being something she has wanted to do for a long time, she is having doubts about it now that she has begun. Particularly with those teenagers who aren't interested in the subject, which seems to be most of them.

Her family and friends know her as being straightforward and set in her decisions: she made the decision to be a highschool science teacher, and even if she has doubts she can hardly back out now. She has been worrying about it, though, but too worried about seeming indecisive to ask anyone for advice. There's also the fact that she hasn't seen some of her friends outside work in a while, what with focusing so much on her attempted career.
