Professor Kua Shi

Once there was a faerie, who wanted to destroy the world, but could not, for the world was larger and stronger than he.

But perhaps the world could destroy itself at his command.

The assumption of the faerie known as Professor Shi is unremarkable, at a glance. He appears as a middle-aged man dressed in tweed, and usually unequipped save for a few minor items in his pockets. He is starting to show traces of his age in his features and movements, and carries a hardwood walking cane with him, though he rarely seems to need it. In manner, he is soft spoken and calm, though something about his reassuring and authoritative tones makes it easy for him to hold others attention. He is often accompanied by creatures more exotic than he -- his snow leopard pet, spirits or handlers, or the various creatures of the Wyld. These creatures serve only to make him seem more ordinary, however, his assumption devoid of the glamour associated with the faerie. For the most part, he is as he appears to be -- simply a teacher.

Chancel ?: The Lab

Oath ?: My dreams will never fade. (Impossible Adamant Defense)

Oath ?: I shall never seek to destroy, except to cause greater creatioin. (Workers Gift x2)

Oath ?: I shall reject none who desire to learn. (Creators Fugue, Assumption of the Person's Heart)

Spell ???: In the doctors presence, intellect blooms. All around him who fulfill a specified condition gain +1 Int, Per, Manip, and Wits, as well as +2 "In the Doctors Influence" specializations in Lore, Occult, and all Crafts. All mortals in the area temporarily gain the ability to craft artifacts (and attune to artifacts they created), even if they do not have enlightened essence. But be warned, passions run hot in his presence as well, and those who dwell too long grow addicted to this white hot brilliance. (Assumption of the Living Kingdom [3], Glorious Hero Form x2 [4], Shiftless Untamed Beauty [2], Surpassing Excellence x3 [3], Mutation [2])

Artifact ???: The doctor wears a strange Jade bracelet, that allows him to rewrite reality with a touch. Every time it is used, one years worth of crafting, including crafting of artifacts, occurs instantly. All bonuses from assistants, equipment, etc, are included. The bracelet functions no more than once per month, however, and a price must be paid. It can be activated, once, if a Heroic Mortal sacrifices their heroism to power it. It can be activated as many times as are required for a specific task, if a Heroic Mortal sacrifices their life to that task.

Artifact ????: The doctor carries a seemingly mundane walking cane, which he sometimes uses to gesture with. The cane is a powerful crafters tool that dates back to the first age, forged from gossamer and strands of Fate. When it is used to declare some manner of crafting task by striking it soundly against another object, crafting checks made with regards to that task have an increment of days, instead of seasons (this effect does not stack with *any other* crafting speed increasing effect). But this awesome power comes as a terrible price. Such power comes from leeching essence from the land, disrupting demenses for miles around and leaving plantlife to die. The staff may be used no more than once per month.

Prerequisites: Any Assumption Charm

Description: When the Raksha learns this charm, he picks one fictional location, organization, concept, etc, to which he may ascribe some basic properties. That organizations existence becomes a part of his assumption. Like the Raksha, the organization exists in Fate. It is assigned small gods to manage it, it appears on the rolls of the appropriate bureau's, etc. This has numerous minor benefits to the Raksha.

  • The Raksha may, if he wishes, purchase the deity of this entity as an Ally 1, paying the usual cost to do so. The deity is Essence 2, and is generally well disposed to the Raksha, but they are an Ally, not a servant. The deity may declare the Raksha as their sanctum, using the normal rules for doing so. If the Raksha's actions cause the deity to become more important, their Essence may rise, but this is at the ST's discretion.
  • By developing the chosen entity in the mind of the Creation Born, the Raksha may anchor his story to Creation. Mortals who have a strong belief in the meaningful existence of the Raksha's entity count as worshipers for the purposes of letting the Raksha buy the Cult background. Reduce the number of Cult dots he can buy this way by 1 (so if their numbers would normally justify Cult 3, he can only purchase Cult 2). He must pay for this cult as normal.
  • The Raksha may (given the means) construct manses that insidiously corrupt the geomancy with the idea of his entity's existence. Such manses must in some way overtly and obviously pay homage to the entity, and within them (or within their zone of influence), the Raksha counts as being in the Bordermarches for the purposes of charm use, wyld stunts, etc, in line with his entity's stated properties and thematics. If the manse's rating is 3 points or higher, he counts as being in the Middlemarches. If the rating is 5, he counts as being in the Deep Wyld.

Key Skills: Martial Arts (Brawling), Athletics (University Sports), Lore (Library Research), Occult (Artifacts and Artifice), Resistance (Alcohol), Presence (Students), Craft (School Projects)

Key Charms: Sense Domain (Institute and Students), Calculated Order of Immediate Action (Inducts or Expels Students), Host of Spirits (Undergraduates), Stoke the Flame (School Spirit), Shapechange (Students)

Description: Lillian Veit's natural form is that of the school mascot -- a snow-white winged warhorse. She spends most of her time in one of her two alternate forms, namely, a winged girl, or a mundane human form. In any form, she is eternally young, appearing between 16 and 22 years of age. In theory, she could also take the form of any student in her domain, but she is unaware of this fact, as her domain currently exists only on paper. While she is still working out exactly what kind of deity she wants to be, Lillian is generally scrappy and impulsive, quick to anger and quick to forgive, and fiercely proud of her domain, even if she's not sure exactly what it's like yet. She very much likes the idea of having worshipers, and has already come up with many intricate plans for exactly how she's going to shepherd them to glory.

Okay, before I look at the dots I need some more of his history, I'm afraid. I can't quite get my head around the concept yet. Thanks.

If you'll read through his artifacts, the premise should be pretty clear. He's a teacher and a scholar, and an agent of chaos, who gives mortals the ability to forge wonders. I was not going to write any more backstory for him specifically because it doesn't matter, if it can even be said to meaningfully exist. His entire history is sophistry, his wonders a slight of hand, which ultimately corrupt the order of the shaped world.

Ok, that's all well and good but then why but a spoiler stating 'Backstory' to have two sentences if I then have to search through the Artifacts for such information?

And as for not needing to write anymore backstory, I'm sorry, but I'd like it so as to justify why and how he has been living amongst Creation for so long. For example, where exactly is he based in Creation? Why does he have a spirit ally? How has he come to become such an esteemed teacher?

These are questions that should really be answerd in a backstory.

Again, if you would read through the sheet, it justifies why he has a spirit ally, where he is based in Creation (specifically, that he isn't), and why he is such an esteemed teacher (because he's not). The reason his backstory is two lines is that he doesn't have one. His story is made up, it's fictional. His arguments are sophistry and his life a fabrication. The work of a clever and alien intellegence with a sharp grudge against the Shaped World.

All of his Backgrounds are well justified and fit the narrative of a teacher who is not quite real. But I wasn't planning on writing any more backstory, because I'd only ignore it anyway. As his custom charm shows, this characters backstory is explicitly meant to be a fictitious work.

Edit: Or to put it another way, "Unless you can prove it didn't happen, I reserve the right to make up my backstory post-fact. And if I can Wyld Stunt up some evidence, that counts as proof." As an explicitly in character point of view.
