The survivors

Lizzy

Lady, running down to the riptide
A boy and girl (Ages in between 12-17) live in a small village surrounded by a huge, dense forest.

The two barely know each other until after their village is attacked viciously by another, bigger and more powerful village and destroyed.

The two flee and somehow manage to bump into each other in the dead of night.

One is/can be wounded and both end up depending on one another for survival. Friend and possibly something more could blossom.

The characters could be elementals, humans, elves, or anything else.

(I plan to be the girl)

Aviva was roaming the village around sunset. Her bare feet were silent against the dirt and gravel roads, and she was trying her best not to be noticed by any of the other people roaming the streets toward their houses. Her own home was on the far end of the village. Her mother and eldest sister Aleta were probably making, or eating dinner now.

Aviva kept walking, her pace slow.

Giko was taking life at his own pace slowly walking around town well since he lived alone its not like anyone was waiting on him plus the day was still young or at least he thinks it is. The only problem about doing this is that Giko gets bored so he started to think what he could do and came to a abrupt stop nearly in front of a girl he never noticed who was behind him.

Aviva had been looking at the ground in front of her for the most part and when almost bumping into someone, leaped back in surprise. "Sorry!" She said quickly, slowly taking a few steps backwards. She was planning to wait for an answer, then be on her way again.

"No need to be sorry it was my fault I shouldn't just stop out of the blue so for that I am sorry." Giko said with a awkward smile on his face while rubbing the back of his head awkwardly as he stepped to the side to let her pass him.

She opened her mouth to say she wasn't watching where she was going really, but slowly just passed him without another word. Then she kept walking straight. Her home was almost in sight now.

Giko began to walk again "well that was awkward now what was it I was going to do again" he muttered to himself letting out a sigh "I forgot" he then muttered scratching his head.

Aviva was only a few yards from her front door when she heard a battle cry and a mass of soldiers running toward the village. Fire and small storms of rocks threw themselves at the first building they saw. It was her house.

The house went up in flames and Aviva screamed, racing toward the house. She barely managed to fling open the door as a gust of wind seemed to grab her and throw her down at the ground, gravel digging into her back painfully. She yelped then got back to her feet, just blocking a flaming arrow from hitting her. An ambush, definitely. She heard more screams from her house and then her sister Aleta stumbled outside. Her white, flowy dress was black with soot now. "Aviva, run!" She managed to cough, before a flaming arrow dug itself into her side. "No!" Aviva shrieked, but couldn't go to her sister as another few flaming arrows whistled past her.

Aviva then turned and fled farther into town. Soldiers were everywhere. They had surrounded the village and were destroying everything they saw.

She saw bodies, mounds of earth, and fire everywhere. All she could do now was flee.

Her small village had no chance what so ever against their attackers. They had no where near enough people, let alone fighters, and the other village had the element and surprise. They showed no mercy either.

Aviva fled to the forest, but just before she could get into the shadowy shelter, wind pulled her back where she tripped and fell over a burning log. She kicked away but, yelped in pain as her bare foot made contact with the middle of the log, and burning embers seared and fell around her foot.

She threw the log farther away with her own element, then stood up and sprinted into the forest. She didn't stop until she couldn't hear the screams and laughter from her village. Suddenly the pain in her foot seemed to scream a final time, and the air elementalist collapsed on the ground.

She squeezed her eyes shut tightly and while trying not to cry, blacked out and went limp.

(Sorry it was so long.)

When the village was attacked Giko was in a bad place the middle of the village but the more fire the solder's made the more Giko could use it to his advantage so he stood his ground until he found and opening and took it running as fast as he could. Only to run into his worst opponent his father no words were exchanged but a clashing of fist since his father was the same as him a fire elementalist who uses a similar tactic rather than fighting at range with his element he puts it around his arms to engage in hand to hand. The both of then hit and hit each other until one fell and it was Giko's father. Giko was injured during this fight but could still walk and run. He continued to run until he saw the girl who bumped into him earlier today on the floor. Giko approached her as he was quite tired decided not to move her but set up a little camp fire near her instead which he did. After he finished setting it up he sat down near around it.

After a while she slowly woke up to hear the crack of fire. Instantly she jumped to her feet but, gave a small shriek and crumbled back down to the ground in pain instead. One foot was much redder than the other, and that was the one that she had burned worse.

She hadn't noticed Giko yet, so she just curled up tightly on the ground.

Giko just sat and watched the event for a moment it was obvious that she hadn't noticed him yet. "are you okay?" Giko said only just now noticing her foot "that's a bad burn i'll erm find some water or something for you" Giko said standing up looking at her for a moment "Dam you old man" he muttered thinking of his father as he just stood there for a few moments to see what she would say.

Suddenly she was sitting, staring over at Giko in surprise. "Why did you follow me?" She demanded first. She either didn't hear him, or was ignoring his words.

"Hmm follow you? I didn't follow you I was running from town and saw you passed out here so I couldn't just leave you there could I" Giko said confused at first 'well now i know what i get for helping...' he thought to himself.

"Oh...Right..." She trailed off, somewhat surprised someone would stick around her in a crisis like this. "Sorry." She added quietly. Then she was silent. She didn't want to pester him to get more water, but she didn't want to say she was fine. She wasn't.

"Ill be back in a moment" Giko said as he headed back to the way where the village was since they was a lake nearby he kept looking back just in case anything could happen.

She stayed where she was. She was silent and her eyes scanned the area like a hawk. Slowly her gaze came to the little fire and she stared at it, mesmerized.

Giko arrived at the lake and picked up a bucket that was left there checking the area. They was no one living that is anyway dead on the other hands two bodies but Giko tried to ignore them and he put the lake water into the bucket and began to walk back to the fire he set up. When the camp came into sight he noticed her looking at the flame and he decided to make the flame go very large for a second then go back to its normal size just to see what her reaction we would be as he stood still just watching.

She didn't notice him come back and when the fire was suddenly 10 times bigger, it startled her, to say at the least. In a flash she was 8 feet away.

She had dug her heels -which hurt very badly- into the soil then kicked back, using her own powers to get herself further away.

Aviva fixed her yellow gaze on Giko, staying emotionless, motionless, and silent.

Giko scratched that back of his head and put the same awkward smile that he had when Aviva bumped into him "Well it seems it fixed your foot" Giko said trying to cheer her up a little as he walked closer to her with bucket in hand.

"No. It didn't." She stated, watching him while he made his way over with the water.

"I didn't find it amusing either." The air elemental added, shooting a burst of wind at the fire, which made it flicker out.

"Aw you both bores well you seem fit for each other" Giko said as he stopped just in front of her and put the bucket of water down.

"Indeed they seem to be" the fire elemental added with a deep echoing voice.

Aviva reached for the bucket, but when her foot made contact with the ground she winced. They had had enough with moving and touching things it seemed. She drew back again and frowned, looking at the bucket. It seemed she never thought of the idea that the fire elemental could have tried helping, maybe all she had to do was ask.
