Whoever this victor guy is i need to have a word…

The tires of the plane would let out a screech as the giant metal bird touched down on The runway. It was but one of many planes that had touched down today, and like the others it carried throngs of people, among them were several individuals who seemed to have special treatment above most others. First class fliers who were allowed to skip the security booths, skip lines via backdoors, And even be first to board and disembark the planes. These passengers were the Letter holders. Flown in from all over the world these people would be kept from the crowds via staff hallways, escorted to fancy black unmarked vehicles and transported into the city of Las Vegas for Layover.

It seemed the United states government had cleared out and secured the Famous Monte Carlo Hotel. Each of the Letter holders would be granted a Presidential Suite at the penthouse floor with Unlimited access to amenities. Free room service, delivery on everything from clothes to personal trainers, truly the Lap of Luxury. Each letter holder would have their own personal agents who would identify themselves by a number between 3-14 and the colors either black or white. So far the mysterious agency which has called the letter holders, has maintained this hotel for two weeks. More than four dozen people have already arrived, but today is the day the last of the letter holders arrive, the final night before those whose lives have already changed so much would forever be thrust into the midst of pure chaos. But hey, at least the room service is free.

(it is currently 7pm in Vegas the vehicles would drop you off here and you’d be given free access to all of the grounds. However an agent is shadowing you and your plus one and will insist you stay on the property. They are very professional, almost inhumanly emotionless.)

*Ding* The fasten seat-belt sign flicked off as the plane finally reached the gate and Mina shot to her feet, promptly lodging one of her horns into the overhead air-vent. The agent next to her sat stone-faced as she spun and flailed around while mumbling quiet apologies to the other passengers. He reluctantly reached for her arm and yanked her back down, her horn dislodging with a pop.

The car ride to the hotel was no less awkward but at least she wasn’t shaking in fear. “Hey, uh, I’m sorry again for grabbing your arm during the turbulence…never done well on planes.” she said forcing a soft chuckle. The agent remained silent, staring straight ahead. Shriveling up inside, she crossed her arms and leaned against the window, gazing outside at the city lights.

Vegas, she had only been once before a few years ago when she was somehow roped into a bachelorette party for a friend of a friend. That weekend was filled with petty arguments, drunken blubbering, and excruciating high heel blisters. As the car pulled up to the hotel valet, Mina was doing her best to convince herself that this trip couldn’t be worse than the last, right?

Stepping out of the car she gasped in awe at the extravagant entryway and stunning fountain. She didn’t have time to take in the scenery as she was quickly swarmed by bell boys whisking away her luggage. The agent exited the car and ushered her into the lobby. She could hardly focus on the hotel attendant describing the countless amenities, distracted by the warm feeling of anticipation bubbling up in her stomach.

Was she finally about to start getting some answers to her thousands of questions? Were some of these other people here just as scared and confused as she was? Was there somewhere in this hotel that she could get a stiff drink? She turned away from the front desk, her room key gripped tightly in hand, and started making her way towards the elevators.

Arthur still didn’t entirely know what all of this was about. After boarding probably the most convenient flight of his life he was now walking the lobby of one of the nicest hotels he’d ever seen. Of course, looking at some of the other people moving around the hotel some of them had some quite obvious oddities which all things considered recently Arthur was definitely less likely to question. He might actually have gone insane and all of this was just a coma hallucination after he’d been beaten up savagely by gang members during that bust last week. No big monster, no black out and definitely no sudden anomalous gains of strength. But if all of this was real he may as well go with it and try to figure it out.

He felt a sort of tension, and that wasn’t just from the somewhat shady government agent telling him not to leave the premises of the hotel. Something big was going down, and Arthur suddenly felt like those crazy alien conspiracy theorist podcasts might actually be onto something. Maybe all these other people had had encounters like him and they’d all been changed too, just in more noticeable ways than being able to juggle cinderblocks.

He honestly regretted a bit that he didn’t use his plus one deal. Might be nice to have someone he knew to bounce ideas off of about what the hell was going on. He’d talked himself out of approaching any friends or family due to worry that whatever was going on might be dangerous and he didn’t want to rope anyone else into it. The most he’d sent had been texts or letters about going on some business for the foreseeable future and stepping down from his position at the old office. He sure hoped his hunch was right and that he wouldn’t regret that decision later.

He sighed and moved forward towards what appeared to be a bar with a lounge set up near it. He walked up to one of the chairs in the lounge and went over to take a seat. Deciding to grab a news magazine on a nearby table and he began to flip through it. He just needed to pass some time he guessed, nothing much to do beyond that. He’d probably look around the hotel a little bit after the rush of folks entering in started to spread out but for now he just wanted to take things kind of slow.

He'd gotten his key upon walking in so he wasn’t exactly on any kind of timeframe apart from tomorrow coming. He just hoped he didn’t end up sleepwalking or more importantly sleep drinking while he was here, that might be an awkward conversation.

When Mars received the letter they had immediately called up their friend Heath and had him read the tickets. It was a eventful day of debating on what to do, but they settled on going alone and having Heath stay home to take care of their garden.

But Heath, being the anxious mess he was, was jittering and shakey as he dropped them off at the airport. Quickly the two located where Mars were supposed to be and an agent approached them. They told the person to give them a few minutes so they could calm their friend.

Are you going to be okay? Don’t get lost, make sure to ask for directions once you’re on the plane—

Mars reached out and held one of Heath’s hands, cutting his increasingly frantic signing off.

“I’ll be fine, and I doubt Mr. James Bond lookin ass would let me get lost.” They chuckled, jerking their head towards the direction they could vaguely smell the agent in. Heath still was incredibly worried though, Mars was practically drowning in the scent of anxiety he currently reeked of.

“I’m gonna be fine. I’m getting answers to all of this.” Mars reaffirmed, letting go of their friends hand and gesturing towards their entire body.

Heath chewed on his lip, “just make sure to text me when you land,” he signed in defeat. Mars smiled softly and hugged their friend. Waving goodbye as they headed towards the agent.

The agent then wordlessly guided them to their seat on the plane and sat down next to them in the aisle seat. As the instructions to buckle up and safety protocol droned on, they became sleepy. Why in hells name was it so cold? They glared at what seemed be an AC vent above them blasting cold air. Mars hissed in frustration, unable to figure out what button turned the damn thing off.

Luckily, they had their insulated coat on and were able to bundle up in it. But it only helped so much and Mars still ended up sleeping through the entire flight. Slowly waking up as warm air blew over them, they opened their eyes and drowsily saw everyone getting up around them.

Mars let out a yawn as they unbuckled and stood. Once again, the agent wordlessly guided Mars off the plane and lead to a sleek and fancy looking vehicle.

The ride to the hotel was boring and uneventful, but it was warmer inside the car and let their energy level return to normal. Mars took the slow time and made sure to send a text to Heath.

Then they arrived at the hotel and holy shit, was it a fancy hotel. Which, if they were honest, they should have been expecting. But there were so many people and Mars was bombarded with so much fear scent they had to refrain from opening their mouth again.

The agent told them not to leave the premises, and it wasn’t like they had planned to, but it made them a bit wary. Keeping a hand over their mouth, they entered the hotel and went to the front desk to check in. When the desk clerk handed them their room key, Mars had to ask what the tag said. The clerk then gave them a sympathetic look and read it off to them.

Mars quickly memorized the number and scoped the room to think of where to start asking if someone was heading to a room near theirs. They supposed that the elevator was a good place to hang around and ask people.

Sierra had decided that during the transfer between her home, and wherever the agents wanted her to, that she would keep to her old form. It was not exactly her first choice, but it would make things simpler and she had so far been playing the tropes. While This was no comic gaining powers did make you want to live out comics so a secret identity was a must. Sierra also had not been fully ready to freak out those around her with her powers. Right now she kept the rouse up only because she wanted to wait for an appropriately dramatic moment to reveal what she could do. While Sierra had been allowed a plus one she hadn't used it, she was on shit terms with her family and office friends were as always a fair weather bunch. It did make travel a lot easier to not have to drag someone else away to Vegas as it turned out and arranging their vacation time. That was of course discounting the men in black flashing some badges saying top secret and clearing everything with a few stacks of cash and threats of or else.

Vegas, that had not exactly been where Sierra had expected to end up. Area 51 had been higher on her list than fucking vegas, but well the government goons were really trying to get on the super powered people's good side it seemed. Vegas lacked the mystique of some super top secret facility , but the casinos might just make up for the disappointment. If the government was trying to buy Sierra's loyalty well they were doing just that very well. At the hotel, one of the best, Sierra had her every need attended too and when she learned someone else was footing the bill fully she couldn't help but smirk.. It was expected when you bought out and insanely expensive place, but well it is easy to forget all the services. Sadly despite it's location Vegas wouldn't allow her to just call up a few girls and file the cost as entertainment. Besides what kind of hero would do that, well not all of them needed to be morally pure what was the point if you didn't have some fun?

Sierra's plans had one minor tiny tissue, the don't go out rule. That really did limit her ability to visit and casino except the in house one and while slipping the agent should be easy enough with her power, it would leave a bad impression. Well they had brought in all the workers, so the entertainment should still be open. Now Sierra just needed to let lose and have fun, and maybe drag someone around. Looking around Sierra decided to pick someone that looked normal, two of the people looked to be part lizard so she doubted card counting was a skill of theirs. Sierra settled on a random guy who when confronted with all this sat and read a magazine. Really who did that. they were here to be heroes and if not that they were in vegas all expenses including gambling paid.

Seirra went up to him still in her fully human form " So what can you do and can it help me count cards in the casino?" She asked rather bluntly not bothering to dress up what she wanted to know .

Delphine would spin around once more within yet another brand new outfit that had been delivered amount several others, seemingly taking advantage of the government's generosity to the point of abuse, especially given the emptied minibar and several dozen room service calls every hour or so. Sure she could afford this stuff normally, but for some reason, it did taste better knowing it was someone else footing the bill.

The only downside was the emotionless agents shadowing her, and she had certainly tried to get some sort of reaction from them, the whole undergarment and wardrobe malfunction stunt didn't even get a twitch to the point she wondered if they were even human. I mean she wasn't really human anymore either but still.

In any case, she wasn't one to stay in her room the entire time, and since they were so adamant about staying within the grounds she decided she had abused the room service and agent enough for now and thought about checking out the Casino itself.

Throughout all this she had also been followed closely by her silent plus one. Her constant moving really did limit her options on who to bring, with the more familiar individuals being very averse to becoming involved in anything government related. So instead she had opted to bring along a former right-hand girl, though it may have caused concerns that the government would not be able to find any information on them with the only thing other than appearance to go on was the name "Imito". All in all she could have been Delphines younger sister from their appearance but given she an only child that explanation was not really on the table.

So with a confident bouncing strut, the two of them would head down to the Casino lobby, idly debating between hitting more of the buffet/restaurants or checking out the Arcade.

Mina tried, with little luck, to avoid staring at everyone meandering about the lobby. Needless to say, she had no idea what kind of people she would find here, but she assumed there would be some kind of obvious similarities. “Huh…so this isn’t just a Suddenly-A-Dragon convention,” she thought to herself, “that’s too bad…guess I won’t be making those S.A.D Club shirts after all.”

She made mental notes of a few faces that initially stood out to her. A rugged looking man, clearly tense and feigning interest in a magazine at the bar. A woman with a unique scar and striking silver hair that was approaching said man. A stunningly beautiful girl who, unlike everyone else, seemed to be having the time of her life as she bounced through the lobby followed closely by her companion.

Then, standing alone in front of the elevators, she saw a young person with a mane of unruly red hair and what looked like scales covering their skin. As they turned their head, Mina gasped softly at their eyes. They seemed…reptilian? “Maybe S.A.D Club lives after all!” she thought as she mustered up the courage to approach them.

“Um, hello! Headed to your suite too?”

Mars was caught off guard when they were addressed. Curse the stench in this place that forced them to mute the one sense that helped the most. But noticeable features about the person popped out to them, horns, a long spiky tail, hair that trailed to her waist and a feminine body shape.

“Yes! Do you have a room near mine?” Mars eagerly asked in response, holding up their key and showing the, presumably part dragon if the bright heat glow from her head and tail had any tell, woman the tag. They wanted out of the lobby as quick as possible.

“I can’t read the numbers on the doors.” They sheepishly admitted, holding back a grimace from the scents that swamped the room and bombarded them every time they opened their mouth.

Arthur was sitting there flipping through the articles of the magazine utterly failing to find just about any article that caught his interest. Honestly most of his amusement came from internally marking down what to him seemed to be the absolute dumbest advertisements in the book. The area around was pretty noisy all things considered but he was still aware when someone started walking towards him. He looked up to see a woman with white hair and a gnarly looking scar approaching him. She got straight to the point with what she wanted and asked him what he could do.

“Well, hi, I do detective work or at least I used to, but I take it you’re referring to the special magic talent that everybody here seems to have” Arthur spoke and got up out of his seat. The woman didn’t seem to have any apparent special power but then again she could just be in the same boat as him with some minor physical ability that wasn’t immediately obvious.

“I don’t know the details but I’m a little bit stronger these days then I used to be” Arthur said. “Probably on the more boring side of things in comparison to some of the other folks around here but I didn’t pick it.” Arthur offered forward a handshake. “Name’s Arthur, what do they call you and since we’re sharing, what do you… do?” Arthur asked pausing a little bit at the do trying to figure out how exactly to phrase it, on second thought the woman was probably onto something with the magic power phrasing.

He didn't know if it was a bad idea to be sharing his powers to someone he hadn't even technically met yet but it wasn't as if he needed to hide them in the back of card hand to give him an advantage of some sort, probably, he didn't carry much worry over it after giving it a bit of second thought.

Mina’s eyes widened in surprise for a moment as the reptilian person hastily replied. She sensed urgency in their voice and as they spoke through one raised hand, she caught a glimpse of a thin forked tongue flicking out of their mouth. She was suddenly remembering the dozens of nature documentaries she had watched over the years and she could practically hear the soothing voice of a British narrator describing fun facts about snakes.

It clicked in her mind that this crowded lobby must be quite overwhelming for someone experiencing scents with their mouth. Recalling that snakes have abnormal vision of some sort, she was happy to help with locating their room. “Let’s see..” she said with one index finger extended to trace the number on their key card, “Room 814!” She looked down at her own card and read aloud, “Room 821! Cool, we’re just a little ways down the hall from each other.”

She pressed the up button and said, “I’m Mina by the way!” with a soft smile. As she watched the floor numbers tick down she said, “So, please tell me I’m not the only one who is beyond utterly confused?”

Finbar Cody (open for interaction!)

Finbar was nervous. He wasn't sure how any of this would go, but tried to keep an open mind. His attempts to talk with the agent charged with supervising him had left him wondering if everyone else he'd meet would be so conversationally ascetic. It was to his understanding that America and Canada had a partnership for handling people with such unusual features as his, but he had a lingering feeling that he'd have some trouble ahead of him. For now, as he mad his way through the lobby with a duffel bag in hand, his eyes attempted to make up for the fact that he couldn't turn his head, darting here and there and doing their best to keep him on track.

He sighed, wondering how Ember was faring for the trip, and if his mother was really so alright with his leaving, and if he maybe should have told her more about his predicament. As far as she knew, he was taking his mutated horse to a specialist vet, but he wondered if he should have been more open about what had gone on with himself. He'd tried not to let her worry too much about his own health. She had worried about it for enough with the medical portion of his transition, not to mention the many times he'd gotten injured around the stable and on the trails.

No matter, He thought, I'd better not worry about that until I've cooked up some suitable news to tell her. For now, I should just get my key and get to my room.

Inquiring about his reservation, he obtained his key and room number and made his way to the place he'd be staying for now, contemplating the irony of the guest services associate offering her condolences for his neck injury. Thank God it didn't fall off in front of her. That would have been troublesome.

“Oh good, I don’t have to ask around,” Mars laughed, before leaning on the wall next to the elevator as they let out a sigh of relief. Their gaze drifted towards the woman’s tail. It intrigued them, there was a constant glow radiating from it and it left bright imprints in its trail. Stuff only did that when they gave off heat.

Mars snapped their focus back towards the woman’s face, Mina, as she had introduced herself.

“Name’s Marrief, but people call me Mars,” they replied, “and honestly, yeah, I’ve no clue what this is about either.”

Twirling the key around in their hand, they added, “I’m jus’ hoping that I get an explanation and help with all this.”

Mars tried to stay somewhat positive about the situation. Losing the ability to read had hit them the worst out of everything. Sure, seeing all these weird details and stuff was fun and really cool, but they wouldn’t have traded their reading ability for it. They couldn’t even use a screen or actually watch tv anymore, Mars was essentially blind from the technology’s perspective.

However, they had silently thanked whoever designed the screen reader function when Heath turned the mode on after putting multiple long hours of research into blindness aids.

Extra strength now that wasn't very interesting, it also didn't help count cards so it sucked on two fronts. Sierra couldn't believe some big always watching government agency would bring someone here just because they put on some muscle. He had to be hiding his power, which was what she was kind of doing right now so, she could understand another doing it. Still he could have made up some other more impressive but equally unable to be proven power. Something as simple as flight or mass manipulation could not be disproven right away. Well if he was a private detective he must not have a good imagination to hide his power as just a bit stronger. Well if he was only going to tell her a little bit of his power she would do the same.

" i'm sierra" Sierra said as she took Arthur's hand and made it so her hand turned into cold hard steel as she shook " And i can change my body" She said letting her hand stay metals even as she let go of his hand. Only once she fully let go did Sierra let her hand turn back into flesh and blood. This was not the full range of what she had discovered she could do, but it should be enough. " So how about you and I'm go hit up the blackjack tables?" she asked not needing a partner for gambling, but it was more fun the more people were there.

Arthur Render

Arthur listened to Sierra’s introduction and as she said she can change he noticed her hand becoming colder and more solid. He looked down to see that she’d changed her hand into what appeared to be metal. Well that explained why she looked mostly unchanged, if she could transform her body into other substances than that was something that could be turned on and off. “That’s certainly flashier than mine. When you want to share it obviously”

Arthur just took the explanation as truth. Yes it was an incredibly vague explanation and he certainly wondered how much and to what extent she was capable of changing herself but it wasn’t as if Arthur had given a massive description of his power and he was off the clock so he didn’t particularly want to examine every line and word given to him by everyone.

He’d be doing plenty of that tomorrow and he’d already done it a lot after the initial call.

Then she invited him to go gambling. Arthur had never really been much of a gambling man; he’d never had a lot of interest in it to be honest. That paired with the fact he’d always been more likely to put his money into things he found useful before leisure kept him away from it. But he was in Las Vegas the day before some massive government thing was gonna go down.

When in Rome he supposed.

Gambling and chatting was certainly more fun then sitting around reading an admittedly boring as hell magazine. “Yeah sure I’d be up for it" Arthur responded and would head off to the casino with his new acquaintance. As he started to move off he was struck with the amount of different people that were populating the place, some looked like normal mundane people others most certainly did not it was wild to think that there were so many people that were changed, he assumed many of the others didn't use plus ones either and if the government had really rented this place out that meant it was a building chocked full of superpowered people and of course their personal shadows. Arthur was still aware of the location of his some distance away.

"You play often?" Arthur inquired as they walked, trying to make a more mundane conversation.

“Mars…” Mina repeated, committing the name to memory. She was struck with a pang of sadness at the mention of nicknames, suddenly hearing her parents’ voices calling her “Peanut.” Certainly an embarrassing nickname but Mina didn’t mind one bit. She missed them both dearly as it had been over 6 months since her last visit home. The sickening feeling of guilt swelled in her chest knowing they were completely oblivious to her current whereabouts. But now wasn’t the time to dwell on that thought.

“You’re so right, any kind of explanation would be nice right about now.” she said shooting a glance at the mysterious agents slinking around the lobby. Feeling Mars’s eyes trail off to her odd new appendage, she had to stifle the feeling of embarrassment. If there was anyone who could begin to understand what she was going through it was someone like Mars, she told herself. Just then the elevator doors slid open and the pair stepped inside. Swaying her hips slightly, she waved her tail back and forth. “Pretty weird, huh? It’s definitely taking some getting used to but at least I got to practice altering all my clothes!”

Just before the elevator doors slid shut, Mina noticed another new face. A tall young man wearing a neck brace moving quickly through the lobby, his nervousness apparent in his eyes. As it was clear he was trying to make his way to his room, Mina held up a hand between the closing doors, reopening them for him to enter.

Location -- Las Vegas

Throughout the entire flight to Las Vegas, Kain was mostly indulging in his own thoughts. What kept bothering him was he knew little to nothing about this XG Black, but they did say they needed help and that's an enough explanation for Kain to come. But what they needed help with is the question, he'll surely not help those who wish to harm the innocent or exploit them, he just hoped that his question will be answered. It was night and he looked out of the plane window to see the pale crescent moon shinning like a silvery claw in the night sky. His mind wondered to father, whom he recently found out was alive and somewhere out there, usually he would pick up everything he had and fly into the depth of the cosmos and look for him but the universe is a big place, too big for Kain. He didn't know where to look and he had the tiny spark of hope that these mysterious people would help him with that. The men who were escorting him were quiet and seemed too stern for his liking but if it was thier order to not converse with the passenger, he could totally understand.

As the plane landed Kain in Vegas, he would get the little things he had and exited out of the private plane with his luggage. He would be immediately met by a slick black vehicle that was awaiting him as he exited the plane. The treatment was off putting because Kain doesn't usually get this kind of treatment, well not exactly, he cant deny that he got help when he landed on Earth but this was on another level, it wouldn't really bother him knowing this is probably coming from the government. He would enter the black vehicle as it sped off out of the airport, enjoying the view of the magnificent scenery of Las Vegas in nighttime. As they round up to a very fancy hotel and stopped in front of the hotel, an agent would accompany him to the hotel and to his room, which he found rather odd. The place itself was packed with other people and Kain just wanted to go to his room, so following the direction his personal agent he entered an elevator and went to his floor where he would be standing in front of his room with his key as his personal agent stood behind him. Going in alone, he rested his things on the floor and he propped himself on his bed and sighed.

He thought of staying in his room and taking a nap but knowing he doesn't need to sleep and how boring it would be, he decided to head downstairs in the Hotel to do something. Might as well take advantage of the things he can get free here, maybe getting wasted too. A problem he's trying to quit but one day wont hurt would it? So getting up and putting on his black leather jacket on, he exited his room and walked down the hall to the elevator. As the elevator doors open to the Casino Lobby, he walked out wearing a smirk as he looked for the bar as his eyes lit up when he found them. He scurried a bit to the bar table and sat on the stool as he saw two other people leaving the lounge area to go somewhere else, they looked relatively normal but thier energy signatures were....weird. He did learn that superpowered individuals carried unique energy signatures than that of humans so maybe they were superhumans passing through. As he turned his attention to the bartender and order a shot of whiskey. He drank the whole thing in one gulp, not feeling enough, he ordered a whole bottle of whiskey as the bartender watched him weirdly. The bartender would give him the bottle as Kain sat over at the lounge near the bar with a bottle in his hand.

Delphine and Imito had decided to check out the restaurant first-hand, room service was one thing but the whole clearing the tables and waiting for them to bring it up all the floors was a bit of a pain, if she was going to get her times worthwhile it was all being paid for she might as well do it here. There was also the fact she had no idea what the suits were going to want of her when they actually got to wherever it was they were going to be taken, so she might as well stock up on mass ready for that.

Idly spinning around on the seat at the bar while waiting for another order she looked over at a newer arrival, her gaze followed by Imito who had been otherwise still, the two girls giving off similar energy to Kain.

"Huh they really do seem to be getting a lot of people for this whole thing, Like one big convention. Guessing your another....Hmm, not sure what the correct term should be....they likely have some dull medically sounding designation, but maybe just Super is best for now." She gives him a wide smile with a wave "Great to see tax dollars at work with this whole trip in anycase."

Finbar approached the elevators, his brow crinkling as the doors began to shut, but then he smiled when they opened again, stopped by a hand. Having heard bits and pieces of his benefactor's conversation, and his nerves urging him to talk, he couldn't help but attempt to join the conversation. It seemed relevant to him, too, as he could surmise that Mars and Mina were in the same proverbial boat, even if it might not yet have been apparent that Fin was anyone but some average guy with a neck injury.
"Thank you," He said as he stepped into the elevator. "Sorry 'bout the eavesdropping, but I can't help but agree that an explanation is needed. I s'pose they have to be cryptic at least for now, but it's sure frustrating not knowing."

Mars watched Mina’s tail swish back and forth. The floor had a had a very, very slight brightness to it afterwards but it faded within a few minutes.

“Heh, yeah, guess I’m not the only one who had to mess with their clothes,” they chuckled to themself. They had to add insulation to half of their wardrobe so they wouldn’t sleep the whole winter. The memory of waking up to a freaked out Heath and heaters surrounding them had stuck with Mars.

“yknow, for me, your tail glows an’ st—“ Mars cut themself off and stared at Mina in confusion as she stopped the elevator doors from closing. Why...? Oh, there was someone trying to join them. Mars smiled to the man. He seemed normal, there wasn’t anything that stood out to Mars about him other than vaguely glowing eyes.

But they nodded in agreement to his words, the agents’ slience and cryptic answers when they did speak was indeed frustrating.

“So, what’s you two’s... powers? I guess? Ive no clue what to call all this anymore.” Mars asked once the elevator doors fully closed.

OOC: This is a collaboration post between TheHistorian TheHistorian and me. This was done only because my character did not arrive with everyone else's characters due to him not receiving the invitation as everyone else did. This is due to him being an alien from a completely different planet all together.

If you would like a summarized version of all of these posts. I will make a separate tab and make the summarized version.

  • Deep in the core of site X-Grey, the 30 meter sphere Which contained the source beeped green lights all around indicating that the containment system was active and the subject within was contained. No guards were stationed near the massive object, the room it was in was hardened against everything from a chemical leak, to a nuclear strike. Outside of the hardened chamber enough automated weapons to level a moderately sized city pointed at the hardened chamber with sensors sensitive enough to detect the fart of a gnat and well programmed enough to differentiate between threats and friendlies ready to dump their payloads. Beyond that multiple nuclear warheads were arranged around the gun hall with fortifications built around them to contain and focus the explosions inward as a last resort. No one trusted the fortifications and most believed if that defensive layer was ever triggered it would be the end of the site X-grey.

The defenses were not only excessive, they were also redundant apparently. During the Breech event not one single defense triggered, the containment wasn’t even ruptured. Likewise, as a ghostly light blue orb seemed to melt off of the surface of the containment unit, not one sensor or alarm triggered. The orb lazily hovered up through the floor of the hardened room, the guns in the gun hall also did not so much as twitch in the direction of the orb. The warheads may as well have been windows, as the orb casually drifted through one of them, and the fortifications around it, continuing through the final hardened wall and into the main facility. Slowly but surely it picked up speed, even as soldiers, then agents, and finally scientists ducked and dipped as it whizzed past. By the Time Doctor Landry Calhoune turned to see what the fuss was all about the orb had picked up enough speed that when it slammed into his forehead it knocked him clean off of his feet.

Word of the orb had already spread throughout the comms quickly and a senior agent was dispatched from the Director immediately. Wesley was already rising to his feet when the Agent asked. “What is it this time?” With a emotionless tone even as he offered a hand to steady landry. Waving the hand off landry groaned slightly as he gripped his entire head with his metal hand. “Geez that hurts” he complained “it can just decide to make the process painless, why the hell does it need to smack me?” The agent didnt so much as crack a smile and instead repeated “What is it this time?” In the exact same tone. Sighing landry closed his eyes and focused on the memories that had just been implanted into his mind, memories of future events. “Good news this time…A visitor and potential ally will be making a visit here…Ill be leading the contact operation…” landry said all of this with occasional pauses, then opened his eyes to see the Agent toughing the spot just behind his ear. “What assets will you need?” He asked with as much emotion as before, at least he didnt wear the damned sunglasses inside, but those eyes were creepily still, and bored directly into Landry’s only blinking on a perfect loop every thirty seconds. “I’ll get you a list, but it will include a satellite…And Agent W.A.R.” He said, again eliciting no response from the agent beyond the blank stare. Finally the agent would nod and say. “Send the list to the Director at once and continue your work, Assess the containment chamber and all defense layers before 21:00” Landry would just nod as he turned and began to pick up the clip board and notes he had. Of course when he looked back over his shoulder the senior agent was gone.

Ray was pretty amped about getting to stay at a fancy casino with comped room service. After living on a pittance from his system provided quests. The prospect of getting to enjoy actual food in large amounts was more than enough to follow along with these suspicious government agents. In particular the short woman in a suit accompanying him with a frown that never seemed to let up. Despite ostensibly having no powers. That didn't stop her from snapping the ribs of the dude who tried to mug them when they were gearing up to leave his home city. Now that he was here in Vegas and seeing all sorts of shiny things. His first instinct was to start ordering room service. When his agent finally disappeared to go do whatever it was that people from the government do. Ray dashed towards the elevator to try getting in, just managing to get in behind someone else. Ray heard the oh so familiar jingle of a system generated quest.

Scratching his chin for a bit before accepting the quest. Ray turned to the group as they discussed things like how cryptic the agents were being and what their powers could be. His abilities were a bit difficult to fully explain. Plus they defy all normal conventions and even a few laws of physics. So instead of a large and complicated explanation. Ray decided to do something far more practical and pulled something out of his [Inventory]. Said item was a whole ass cat. The agent that had brought him here was against the cat. Yet this cat was Rays friend when he was homeless. His name was Dango and he was pretty chill. Discovering that [Inventory] could hold a single living thing at his current level. Ray put Dango in there so he could come to Vegas too. Holding up the feline as the elevator moved along. Ray took to petting said cat.

At Mars's inquiry about powers, Fin smiled as his response formulated in his head. The strange events that had happened over the past few months had seen no silver lining until just now, as he was trying to finagle his way out of seeming dour all while acknowledging what made him different than about a month before.
"Powers? Well, I guess the fact that I'm still alive means something. I've been having quite a bit of trouble. Now that my head's not screwed on tight enough, I might even lose it." He wasn't sure if he phrased the joke right, but having come up with it at all made Fin feel better.
Just as Fin had settled himself in the back of the elevator, a precaution he took to keep the elevator functioning properly, he noticed the fourth occupant, a young man who seemed about his age, seemed to pull a cat from thin air. Fin's eyes lit up, though not literally as nowadays they were always lit up in that sense.

"Now that's impressive! My changes are mostly just problems, if I'm to be frank. Does your cat have a name?" Finbar was often happy to see an animal, even if he had no idea where it came from, and even if seeing the cat reminded him that he should have checked with the Agents about his own horse. He knew they wouldn't have let him take her had she not also been mutated, and thus wondered how well equipped they actually were to deal with her.

As he stepped into the slightly dimmer light of the elevator, Mina noticed the young man’s green eyes glowing ever so slightly. There was something about it that reminded her of her favorite light up Halloween decorations. Spooky, she thought to herself as she smiled politely at him. She nodded in agreement with his statement. Cryptic and frustrating. What a perfect way to sum it up.

Slipping into the elevator just in the knick of time was another young man with shaggy slate-blue hair. Maintaining a pleasant smile, she shifted over making room for him and pressed the button for the 8th floor. As Mars asked their question, Mina’s face lit up with curiosity. She was sure that it was the question on nearly everyone’s mind. The first man’s response sent a chill down her spine. Her eyes darted to his neck brace. He’s not serious…right?

Without missing a beat, the man next to her produced a cat quite literally out of thin air. Mina’s jaw dropped, completely dumbfounded. But her shock quickly turned to laughter as she decided it was the best way to cope with this madness. Plus, cute cat! She gently offered her hand for him to sniff and gave him a little scratch under his chin. “Magical cat powers? No fair!” she jested.

Supposing it was her turn for show and tell, Mina said, “Well theres this…” She squeezed her eyes shut concentrating with all of her might. A tingling sensation originating from her chest steadily grew until it was pulsing in waves through her limbs. With a grunt, her feet lifted off of the floor and she slowly ascended until she was a few inches from the ceiling. Opening her eyes, she looked down at them with a proud grin on her face. “Theres also the fire-breathing and these things get really hot!” she said pointing to her horns and tail. With an ungraceful thud, she replanted her feet on the ground. “Still working out the kinks.” she said sheepishly.

Khn'nr

Location -- Las Vegas
Mood -- Bored/Intrigued
Interactions -- PlusUltra PlusUltra

Because of his superior biological anatomy, getting drunk wasn't an option. Which sucked, not to mention the alcohol on this planet was weaker than on Hala or Chandilar, so it wasn't very enjoyable for Kain as he drank from the whiskey bottle. His attention was soon directed towards a pair of females that seemed to be there before he came. They were obviously not humans, well maybe they were but their energies resonated with each other, a trait he found only blood relatives had, so he guessed they were siblings.

When one of them greeted him, he soon realized that he wasn't the only person who got the message and it made him wonder what they needed this many people for. He tilted his head as the woman assumed him to be this subspecies of humans that they tagged, "Supers", the name caused him to chuckle a bit as he wiped his mouth from the residual whiskey. "You humans have strange terms, how do you not know this is not just a part of your species' evolutionary development?". When he spent some time on Earth, many of the things that intrigued him were the illusion of normalcy society tried to uphold. What is considered normal to him would be "supernatural" to them, and it was laughable to Kain. He began to understand that these humans have a primal fear of the unknown, things they do not understand, and frankly, they don't understand many things about the universe sadly.

"And yeah, while getting drunk is not an option with these weak ass alcohols humans possess-", Kain drank the entire bottle of whiskey in an inhuman amount of time and dropped the bottle hard on the ground as it shattered to pieces, "-it is nice to lay back and relax for a moment. My name's Khn'nr by the way, but my human alias is Kain Valen if you wish to use it". He rocked back on the chair he was seated upon and threw up his legs on the table as he rested his hands behind his head. "And what planet do you hail from, you don't exactly look human...well look isn't the right word in your case.". Kain gave a sheepish smile in a respondence to her friendly wave to him.

She leans over the counter somewhat with a grin at the man's response "I mean the whole evolution normally takes a little longer than this, otherwise have someone check on all the monkeys too. So if it were evolution it would have to be forced, which opens up a whole other bunch of questions that normally ends up with a few people wanting to make sure they don't get answered."

She gives another slow spin on the stool before slapping her hands on her lap. She wasn't completely oblivious to a few choice words the guy had chosen, 'you humans' meant he didn't see himself as one and the later words all but confirmed it. Then again she didn't really consider herself human anymore so wasn't exactly a new thing, just she wasn't normally as open about that part.

"As for the drinks, I mean ever consider they were designed for an effect tailored to humans? As inclusive as people like to pretend they are, they haven't got around to adding an alien colour onto the little flag, plus not really a market for stuff that overpowers the taste in a classy place like this"

She gestures around the room with another spin before hopping out of her seat to move to one closer "Though as for your questions Kainy? Delphine Constantinople, got a few made-up ones as well though try and keep those separate, as for Planet?" she twirls her finger before gesturing straight down "That would be right here on E-Arth, I mean in some ways I'm more human than most people on the inside, got a whole lot crammed into one cute not so little package. Though maybe my parents were secretly aliens and never told me, some magic turned me into one, or who knows? Like not even sure just what i am. Imito over there is the exact same as me in more than a few regards." Her tone hand a ton of cheer in it, laughing almost at perhaps a joke that only she knew. Before leaning over the counter again. "Though you said i don't "look" human? What exactly do i look like then? Do you have some special eyes or something? Hoping it's not X-Ray or something. Obvious issues aside, no docs been able to look too deeply and make sense of it after all" she winks and lets out a small laugh.
