Realistic or Modern The Sins of Our Fathers (Post apocalyptic RP)

Background: The year is 2039, 25 years since the "New Dawn" bioweapon ravaged the world, and 25 years since the man who released it went missing. No one knows why he did it, but what the people do know is because of him the world they once knew is dead and whole generation would never know what that world was like. Whoever he was he became known as the Pale Horse and he brought death, pain, and misery in his wake. In the early years after New Dawn had killed off those it infected, civil war followed as remnants of governments fought for control against warlords and rival factions. The survivors are still haunted by the memories of their world collapsing around them, and lying there helpless unable to do anything but watch and listen to the screams of pain and the cries for help. Now there is only silence. Communities stay within their wall only leaving for the occasional supply run or to trade supplies with another group. Traveling the road is dangerous, if you aren't killed by the wildlife, or weather, roving marauders and savage tribals haunt the derelict cities and waylay travelers. Now Northern California is plagued, crops don't grow as well, animals have been getting sick and dying. And one man wants answers. Aaron Hawks a former member of secret government council, the very same that authorized the creation of project New Dawn. He knows why it was created and what it's purpose was, and every fine detail of the project. But he wants answers on why it was released, and he can't do it himself. His days are numbered and he can hardly even remember his own name. What he knows for sure is that his answers will be at Providence. When a group of scavengers from the community of Elmerton have come across his house, he gives them the quest of finding out why this happened, and to stop it from every happening again. Whether this is a curse or blessing, he does not know, but he knows they must reach Providence.

Hello my friends, this is my first RP on this website, but this isn't my first rodeo. So let's get down to business. Obviously no godmodding, no excessive or gratuitous gore or violence, no sexually explicit content (I shouldn't have to go in detail for that), and overall keep it civil and clean when out of character. I don't mind foul language in character but try not to drop an f bomb every 5 words you type. I'm looking for a group of about 6 people max, but I'm more than willing to squeeze one or two more if I need too. I will need someone to take the role of Pale Horse, the antagonist of the story. If not, I'm fine with taking the role myself. As for posts I'm hoping for about 2 paragraphs per post, but it's on a case by case basis so if it's not needed then don't. Please try to make the posts detailed and thorough as possible, I'm hoping we can secure at least 2 posts per week but if not thats fine we all have lives outside the internet and most importantly have fun! That's what we're all here for right

A Second post to set up some world building and to cover Original Characters

Communities

Elmerton: Elmerton is a walled community on the coasts of Northern California. Set up around a former military base, it enjoys a relatively safe environment at the expense of a militaristic rule by a council of high ranking military officers. Covered on all sides by howitzers, anti air missiles, and harden battalions of soldiers, Elmerton has adopted to this new world with the belief that God is on the side with the best artillery. Beyond it's high walls are farms which feed the community in exchange for protection. Elmerton like most communities has a symbol to mark its land, it this case "25:17" a reference to a bible verse, "I will execute terrible vengeance against them to punish them for what they have done. And when I have inflicted my revenge, they will know that I am the lord". However despite its farms they have suffered a harsh harvest, and more frequent raider attacks. You can't defend a wall with corpses and you can't feed people artillery shells. As a result Elmerton has sent out more frequent scavenger parties, hoping to scrounge up any old cans of spam or a few boxes of MREs, and now they are accepting new people into their community offering shelter and protection in exchange for work and extra hands to man the walls.

Tribals: Survivors who never found a building or wall to stay but behind, many of them devolved to using spears and bows and wearing animal skins for different reasons, whether religious, fundamental, or just circumstantial. Some tribes are nomadic but others stay put making huts and tents, either growing their own crops or raiding communities for supplies.

Bandits and Warlords: In the wake of the chaos many bandits set up their own fiefdoms, becoming warlords and thriving off of stealing from others and rule through terror and violence. Most warlords fight each other mostly for land and to subjugate communities, towns in disputed land often see a change in ownership overnight with different warlords claiming lordship.

Original Character (try to follow the format please if not no biggie)

Name: James Willits
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Height: 6'0
Weight: 180 lbs

Appearance: He has hazel eyes and keeps his brown hair cut short. He has a strong jawline and has a muscular build with broad shoulders and long arms and legs. He has a very small tattoo reading "25:17" near the collar of his neck more for identification than anything else.

Personality: Generally keeps to himself and is introverted. He questions the morality of the council and is glad to see they are taking in survivors instead of pumping them full of lead with the 50 cals. He follows his orders but questions most of them and has contemplated deserting after going through with most brutal of them such as beating an old man to death to use his cabin to sleep in during a long range recon mission. Because of this he loathes and hates himself for going through through with these atrocities. As with most who grew up in Elmerton he is religious but lately he has questioned his religious beliefs and his role in life. He enjoys old world music and literature one of the few sources of entertainment.

Equipment/Gear: Wears worn olive green combat fatigues under a light brown plate carrier. His plate carrier has three magazine pouches each one carrying two 30 round magazines for his m4a1 a pouch for his water flask and another one for carrying assorted goods (compass, notepad etc) Strapped to back of his vest is a machete. He wears a helmet similar to that worn by old world commandos, but in olive green and has written "25:17" on the front of it, above his right brow, and on the back of his helmet "Sinner" He also has a MP3 player and headphones which he uses to play old world music and wears a crucifix around his neck

Weapons: M4a1 with an acog and laser mount, colt commander 45, m9 bayonet

Background: James was born a few years after the war in the chaos that followed the initial disease. He never knew his father as he died during the fighting, and he was brought up by his mother. In proper Elmerton fashion he was put to work the moment he turned 8. At first it was helping to organize bullets and pick crops, then it was manufacturing bullets and munitions, and soon he was running messages between sentries and when he turned 17 he was recruited to be a soldier. During boot camp he was trained to be an infantryman and was assigned to a Stryker unit. During his training he was told they were to uphold the values of old America and to defend freedom and democracy, ironic considering Elmerton was essentially a military junta. After being assigned his first mission was to prevent a wave of refugees fleeing from Nevada from breaking down the border walls set up in the old world as way of preventing the spread of the plague. tribal and gang violence had escalated and it wasn't long before the city of Reno one of the last breaths of civilization was engulfed in the flames of war. James and his unit initally held back the refugees peacefully, and when things got violent they deployed tear gas. Unfortunately, the refugees tried to desperately breakdown the barricade by ramming an 18 wheeler through the walls. His unit gunned down the refugees after they tried to climb the barricades. Local farmers who tried to expose what they did were detained and a few were even executed for resisting. A year later on his 18th birthday his unit was conducting a long range recon to investigate more frequent raider attacks. They camped alongside a riverbed and during the night a stormstruck and they lost their supplies to a flashflood. Desperate they found a log cabin, the only inhabitant an old man, who had been a d-day preper in the old world. After he refused to share his supplies, they beat him to death and took what they needed. After this he requested a unit transfer and to his wishes he was put in charge of a scavenging group made up of Elmerton citizens and newcomers, a position he is more than happy with.
