Fandom The Riders of Berk

Hazel sort of gulped down a few words. She didn't want him to speak, not in the condition he was in. She wanted him to relax, and though she was urged to continue his conversation, she simply pressed her fingers to his lips, eyeing him for a moment before moving down where the arrow stuck out of his body. She traced her finger around the irritated skin around the wound, trying to be gentle and make it feel a little better if she could. "That's got to hurt." she mumbled. Hazel looked at Celeste, she wanted her full approval to help her rider before Hazel took him somewhere safe to remove his arrow. At home she had all the supplies she would need, she just wanted to make sure Celeste was alright with doing such a thing.

Nico frowned. But he winced a little as she traced her finger around the irritated skin. Celeste eyes Hazel, coming up to her and nudging her gently with her head. Nico murmured against her finger. "Thank you." He said softly to Hazel. Celeste nudging Nico a little, nuzzling him on the head as if he was her child.

Hazel acknowledged his words, nearly falling on him when she was nudged by his dragon. She caught herself of the other side of him, her hands pressing into the stone. She leaned back up and winced, brushing her hands off and giggling at the dragon. In a swift movement the girl slid her arms under the boy and stood with him, carrying him bridal-style to her dragon. She didn't speak, as much as she wanted to, and simply focused on getting him somewhere sleep.

"Weeee.." Nico giggled as he was picked up. Celeste bounded happily, the ground shaking a little. Celeste bounded next to the boneknapper and nuzzled him, she was really happy she found help.

Marrow bowed and Hazel walked up his skull. She slid down his neck with Nico. He was heavy for her, and a bit taller, but she made it this far. She sat on her dragon's shoulder blades and placed the injured boy gently and comfortably down between the blades so he wouldn't move too much during the flight. Marrow signaled Celeste to follow as he raised off of the ground and took off toward Hazel's home.

Celeste did fly up and started to follow Hazel's Boneknapper. Nico would feel.. unusually comfortable, his eyes closing as he felt the wind through his hair.

( sorry getting late for me so i'm tired doing tiny posts.. )

(All good. ^.^)

Hazel let out a content sigh, keeping a free hand just in case she needed to catch the boy if Marrow decided to do some acrobatics to show off to Celeste. The massive dragon was ridiculously fast, moving in and out of clouds with ease. She led Marrow down and the beast started diving, barreling downwards toward Hazel's cabin.

Celeste followed along easily, nervously going to Hazel's cabin. She was let out a coo to Nico to reassure him. She would land safely and wait to see what Hazel would do next.

The Boneknapper landed gently, his claws digging into the soil as they made their landing. Hazel took the boy once more, her arms weak and sore, wobbling ever so slightly. She was able to keep him up, of course, and made her way off of Marrow, walking down his skull and towards the cabin. Hazel gave Celeste a warm smile to ease any tension, before taking the boy into her home. A warm fire crackling in a stone fireplace greeted the pair. Dozens of small scaled and feathered dragons lay curled up by the fire. She had a temporary home here for any injured dragon or human and acted somewhat like an infirmary. She occupied herself with rescuing dragons who were ill or injured or saving abandoned eggs and incubating them. She had a knack for healing.

Hazel watched her feet as she tiptoed by the dragons and made her way into a cozy little room with a padded operating table. It didn't look intimidating, it looked inviting, very different from most infirmaries. She placed the older boy onto the table, letting out a sigh of relief when she did. She would introduce herself about now, but shyness, tiredness, and overall uneasiness settled in. She just stood awkwardly, mapping out a mental plan to get the arrow out of him with as much care as she could.

Nico would be slightly awake, his eyes widened as he saw all the dragons. As he was laid down on the table he winced quietly. "Just ppull the damn things out of me.." He groaned in pain. "Celeste gets nervous and pretty sad when i leave her for long.." He said.

Hazel was taken aback. So blunt, so eager to keep going that he was oblivious to the impending complications of not treated properly. "I can't just tear it out of you... That would double the damage. I'll ha-" she cut herself off. "You may want to grab something to squeeze." she suggested, before taking her fingers and spreading the wound open. This allowed the arrow to loosen. She pulled harder then in one swift motion she pulled the thing out with mild tearing. She gasped, having held her breath for the process. She then turned to fetch some rubbing alcohol and a cloth. She dampened the cloth with the substance and sighed.

Nico immediately did. "AUGH!: he yelped and winced, he then bit his lip hard. "Oh damn... god...now the other one, just get it over with!" He yelled. "Or else i might bite my lip off.." He said, wincing.

Hazel did what was demanded, but before she applied the cleanser to his wound she found another clean cloth, rolled it up, and shoved it between his teeth. "I said squeeze something, not bite." she growled, stressed by the boy. Swiftly, being the most gentle and caring she could be, she cleaned the dirt and bacteria out of the wound. Dried blood ran once more and soaked her fingers. With the wound clean Hazel bounded over to her cabinet and removed a roll of bandages. Gently she wrapped his thigh, a snug and comfortable fit, before tying the ends and putting the bandage away. She removed the bundle from his teeth, wiping a tear that caressed her cheek, having a deep disliking of hurting anyone or anything. Whenever she did she just felt terrible. Whilst wiping her face, however, she smeared his blood across her cheek. She didn't pay mind of it until she knew the boy was alright.

Nico's teeth were going to fall out, but finally she did it. He sighed in relief and winced as she took the bundle from his mouth. But then he felt a pang of guilt when he saw a tear on er face, and she quickly wiped herself while smearing blood on her face. He took his other not injured arm, sat up little, even in pain, and wiped most of the blood off with his thumb. Her skin felt soft and her cheek was warm. He blushed and took away his hand. "No need to be sad. You did a good thing, and i thank you. I'm alright.." He said, laying completely back down, wincing.

The girl winced at his touch and blinked back any other tears that threatened to fall. She nodded, brushing the bangs out of her eyes. "Your dragon is probably worried." Hazel started, knowing that even though Marrow was there to keep her company Celeste was probably nervous. "I should bring you to go see her. You can choose to stay here and get the rest you need or go home, either way is fine. I have plenty room for you and your beastie if need be." she suggested kindly. She backed away, offering him a hand to help him up.

Nico smiled, "Ah.. we don't have a home. Not anymore.." Nico took her hand and slowly went outside to Celeste. Celeste instantly bounded over to him and nuzzled him gently, she would coo out to him and Nico would kiss her forehead. "I'm so thankful..."

Hazel knew what it was like to live without a home. It was terrible, and she couldn't stand knowing that this injured boy and his dragon would be living outside in the cold after such terrible weather had hit. "Then you shall stay here. I can make you hot soup, and the dragons can munch on the game in the area. Deers, buffalo, sheep. It's a haven. You are welcome to stay until you feel it's best to leave. I don't want either of you to suffer more than you already have. If you choose to stay I can lead your dragon to the heated stables, and we can establish a settlement where you are never far from her." she explained, but not without adding "it's up to you." so she didn't sound desperate.

Keani looked around the small room, her eyes slightly unfocused as she tried to figure out anything that she could. Keani felt Ice shift her so that the dragon could make a circle around Keani with her body, her way of protecting the small girl. Ice continued to blow warm air over her in an effort to make her feel better and safer

(I'm going to bed, I just wanted to post something before I head off for the night.)

Nico's eyes lit up. "Really..? That's- That's great to know. I'm.." Nico looked at Celeste. "You won't be lonely and cold anymore, Celeste." He laughed and smiled in joy, and Celeste bounded in happiness. He quickly gave Hazel a hug. "Thank you! We could set up a settlement near by.. after i'm okay.. is that okay?"

Hazel giggled, eagerly nodding her head. "Of course! I will warn you, however, that these grounds are directly beside a travel path for thousands of species of dragon. They come here often and they are loud. If you can handle that, I think you'll settle just fine." she remarked with a smile, eyes widening slightly in realization. She smiled to herself and look to the sky, seeing as it was dusk and the sun was setting. "There are some remarkable things in these parts. When you heal I will show them to you." she promised.

Nico hugged her, but wincing. "Thank you, i will repay you once i'm fully restored to health!" He nodded, and played with Celeste a bit, looking at the beautiful lands. hHe saw some flowers right in front of him and picked one, he gave it to Hazel, "Here you go, fair maiden." He smiled.

Hazel let out a soft giggle, gently taking the flower from his hands and threading it through her hair. "Thank you." she murred, smiling as her cheeks glew crimson with emotion. "We should get you to the stables now, and let that wonderful dragon of yours find the place she wants to stay." Hazel prompted, rather surprised that they still hadn't introduced themselves. She started to make her way to the stables with Marrow following behind her. He grunted happily as he trotted.

Nico held on to her hand nodded. He would feel and sense of tranquility here. A haven. He was so happy. He thought he never been so happy in his whole entire life. Maybe. "Oh.. I'm Nico, and that's Celeste." He said quietly.

Finally the introduction had been made. That cleared things up, so now she could properly address the boy and his beast. "I am Hazel. My Dragon goes by Marrow, though you can call him Bone or Knapper. He really doesn't mind what he is called." she chuckled. They reached the massive structures of the heating stables and the large doors were open just a crack. Hazel pushed them open entirely and allowed the two dragons to go before she gently lead the boy inside. "This is the dragon's quarters." she remarked.

"Oh. Okay. Nice to meet you. Hazel.." Nico looked pained when he said her name. He didn't look her in the eyes now, but then he smiled at the ground. "Your name is really nice." He said, now looking up on the sky.
