History
(ugh)
Babylon is the seat of the Babylonian Empire, at its center is the Grand Tower of Babylon witch overlooks the city. The grand tower was the first structure to be built, its base was originally the city of Babylon itself before it expanded. All its buildings had been conected by walls, and roof was build over them, More houses and buildings were built around this base where the inhabitants would eventually move into. with every knew generation of king a another level to the tower spiraled upwards, and its base was expanded, buildings filled in to create supports so that the massive structure could be stable until finally the tower reached a point were Babylons enginears could no longer expand for fear of it crumbling down on them. The base of Babylons tower is almost burred under neath the city and many dont even realise their homes sit uppon the actual structures base, however about a forth of the way threw the city reaching from the center the structure does end, though most people believe this to be little more then a defensive structure. The inside of the base has become little more the a massive maze of catacombs that has often been the death of many a lueter who thought they could try to plunder its depths. The second tear of the tower is what most people precieve to actually be its base, and like the actual base is little more then a filled in catacomb, however it does have well traveled, ventilated, and serviced passage ways that lead up to the next levels.
Culture
Inside of the City, Adepts work constantly insuring the city is well protected as well as keeping things working efficiently helping to move cargo, s helping to erect knew buildings. Most of its citizens in side the city are either some form of guard, or a laborer aiding the adepts. As babylon is the larest most well built up city in the state, its also the home of a majority of Babylons scholars who, for the most part, generally live life about as liesurly as it gets.
The City is also the home of the 3 great houses, The House of Lilith, The House of Apsu, and The House of Tiamat, these great house, while not actually a form of government, are pretty much found in all aspects of Babylonian Society, from tribes claiming to be direct decedents, to some gangs, to just personal belief. For the most part the great houses act as a sort of guild, or Mafia in some cases, offering help, protecting, and aid to those it claims within its membership and can be found all the way up into the actual government, even though the Babylonian king claims unbiased and even claims to be descended from all three.
