The year is 2018. Welcome to Earth.

Among many of the mysteries that were left in the past, one thing that always piqued the human curiosity was a certain event that happened on the year of 1986: the mass murder of the Ushiromiya family at the island of Rokkenjima, in Japan. Your curiosity has been piqued and it raised to levels that it took you to a travel and the very island was your destination. You wanted to know who the culprit is and for what reason they did it. After all, even a powerful tool as the internet isn't able to give you what you dearly wish. Only rumors and baseless information. So why not explore it personally? There was just one thing you never knew.

The cat box is supposed to stay closed. Open it and the prying eyes will return.

This mystery is something that not only the REAL world wishes to see. Other worlds, deriving from fantasy, still hold interest in such a tale, whose end was never revealed. It will all depend on what you will do once you arrive. There are only two options:

Will you protect a precious story... or is the world ready for the truth?

Classes

• Human: humans are the basic. They walk, eat, sleep. But the life isn't like dogs. Those who are humans, thrown into the mystery of the Ushiromiya, will have to pursue a path in order to grasp the truth behind the seemingly unsolvable murder.
• Sorcerer/Witch: they look like humans, but there's more to those creatures. Able to use magic and holding a title of their own, they're able to create the most ridiculous and impossible scenarios for a murder to happen... and it will happen on those terms.
• Furniture: servants of sorcerers and witches, ready to defend their master in any sort of non-logical battles. Furnitures also hold their own special power, though not as the levels of a witch.

The Four Truths

1. Blue: the truth of humans. Mostly used to present a theory for the murder or descriptions of the scenario.
2. Red: the truth of sorcerers and witches. Used to refute any of the theories presented by the human side or to define the scenario.
3. Gold: the ultimate truth, usable only by the Game Master or the Territory Lord. Defeats all truths and has an immense power. Cannot be used in all situations.
4. Black: the forbidden truth, mostly referred as a forgery. It's a fact that once created, will be accepted as a truth unless its trickery is uncovered. If uncovered, the user is killed.

Rules

1. No godmodding or overpowering.
2. Canonical characters from the series can be usable but only a few of them for story purposes. Those characters are placed below. The rest is omitted to simple mentionings. A special warning: Bernkastel, Lambdadelta and Featherine are forbidden.
3. I don't mind oneliners, but if possible, keep your post at 2 paragraphs.
4. Respect the other players. Try not to raise a big ruckus or else you will be properly removed.
5. Any issues present with another player must be spoken with me via PM.
6. Romance isn't something I mind, but don't go to extremes. Let's respect RPN's rules

I'm probably going to go for a human since I think I'd find it enjoyable. Though I might make a witch...

I like Umineko and it has a lot of potential, but I'll admit it's not something I'd expect a traditional RP to be able to do well. It would require a lot of prior planning, especially if you're going to involve canon characters, so I'm very curious to see how this will turn out. I've played many smaller-scale Umineko-like rounds in a certain murder mystery RP game, and even those weren't easy to pull off. I'll be watching this, hoping to be mistaken, and if possible lend a hand if I have ideas.

For the time being, all I'd recommend is starting out modestly. If you don't have an estimate of how many people are going to be interested, you should remain flexible so you can adapt to what other players might suggest. Maybe people just want to RP as humans, and then have the meta-world (is that what it's called? Been a while since I've last checked on the fandom) be the OOC chat instead, for example. That also means not starting off with an ambitious plan, since that has a chance of being just too scattered. Either way, my recommendation is to talk things through as much as possible with other interested people. Failing to communicate can kill any RP, especially one that is based on a complex plot such as Umineko.

Anyway, I wish you and this RP the best of luck. Would be really nice to see this grow, start off, and keep going.
