The Silent Z
Just Here
Genre: Realistic/Modern, Fandom (AU/sequel), Western
Year: 1876
Expectations: RPN rules apply, Common Decency, Collaborative works, AU kind of deal, not everything will be completely accurate. Two paragraphs min per post. (No one liners, please) Overall a pretty chill atmosphere as much as possible for the hopeful rp.
Plot Idea:
It’s 1876 and reform still seemed to spill over this past decade from the end of the civil war. Meanwhile in a small town in southern Montana called silver springs was under watch and control of a tyrannical cattle Barron, Lester Hayes and his band of thieves and hired guns. Law was his own. The sheriff was no more a respectable position in silver springs with his hands all over what was allowed and what wasn’t. The U.S Marshalls were unable to successfully overthrow and arrest Hayes. Leaving the small town and it’s people in constant terror, women abused in all sorts of ways, the children living in horror and constant fear. The men unable to do much as most were shop keeps, smiths and farmers not gunslingers and experienced fighting men. Hayes had the town under his thumb, all its riches were his and the small pennies and scraps were left to be shared amongst the people. Least in comparison to how he lived and the taxes he claimed under various promises of protection, law and etc as means to maintain his fortune and to ensure nobody could hire any outside help.
A story similar to another tale. But here was a man and his cold blooded band that ran silver springs after taking control of it during the war and remained ever since. Each year it seemed to get worse but the people couldn’t afford to just pick up and move.... some wonder if they would even be allowed? This particular year it’s rumored that a tournament may be held, inviting gun hands and willing participants to sign up and duel one another for the grand prize, a large sum of money said to be near the thousands. A tourney that required a buy in and if your smart a expectation that it wouldn’t be a fair fight, ever since the idea formed and was spread around while figuring Hayes would no doubt enter himself. Despite his growing age, he was still rather quick and skillful with a gun even if he was rather underhanded to pair with it. Using any trick and advantage he could to win.
It would take quite the willing group to try their hand at overthrowing Hayes and his men and return the town to its people, freeing them from his tyranny. While those seeking to simply join the rumored tournament or see what it’s all about if it actually happens, would have a hard won series of duels ahead of them if they sought to win them a grand fortune. Only time would tell how it all played out...
