Two weeks ago...

Nothing but continuous yelling could be heard from either side of the house, this was an every day occurrence in the Hodson family estate. Father and his business partners going on about the economy that means absolutely nothing to them. Mother trying to instill the importance of status and wealth into Calla's six year old brother. Grandparents loudly drunk talking to each other and so much more. The house was full of voices except for Calla's. Since she was born, not more that six words would escape her lips, but her mind wandered on and on about things every second she could. As she was reading a book from her mother on elegance, her maid came into the room holding a parchment with the royal seal on it.

Removing the ribbon that held the parchment rolled up, she slowly unraveled it to see that it truly was a letter from Queen Elizabeth herself. And it read.

"Dear Miss Calla Hodson,

I have learned a great deal about your special talent for handling a gun. Though I do not condone a woman holding a weapon of such power, I find it quite fascinating that a girl at your age is better at handling a weapon than most men in the Europe region. The reason I have sent this letter is to tell you about a secret group for the palace that will undergo many assignments I would not allow regular reinforcements to attack upon. Yourself and three others will be in the group if you decide to accept my invitation. If you accept it, please arrive at the palace on the 13th of March. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this letter, I wish you a good day.

Queen Elizabeth."

Present...

Sitting in a horse drawn carriage, Calla sat there, examining the unfamiliar place she was in. It was her first time travelling into the capital of England, as well as seeing the palace with her own eyes. It was an architectural beauty, even in her own eyes, due to the history of it and detailing around it. As the carriage stopped at the entrance, the driver offered to help her with her luggage, yet she refused him kindly while picking up a larger duffel bag with one hand. The guards immediately knew who Calla was, letting her by without a hassle, until a butler came out to escort her into a well decorated waiting room.

"Please wait here until the others arrive.." The butler said as he closed the doors to the room in front of him. Taking a seat upon the love seat in the room, Calla waited to see what the other members of the group would be like.

Last Night:

The show went flawlessly. Lucian liked performing cheep illusions in from of small crowds. Not real magic, of course, but simple slight of hand, a little smoke, and possibly even a live animal or two. It was the perfect cover to the "real" stuff that wasn't supposed to exist. Even now as night fell and his assistants were wrapping up his stage props he could feel the lay lines pulsing under his feet. Currents of magical energy that, with the proper rituals or tools, he could tap into and with the force of will, cause supernatural things to happen. No one could know about this, of coarse. His old mentor had long died, leaving behind his legacy of secrets... and no one was to know. But then, what was this letter on his dressing table? Somehow he knew what it contained even without opening it.

Somebody knew. Someone important, but why would they request him to come? He read the letter over twice before snapping his fingers and lighting the paper in a supernatural spark of flame. This would not get out of hand. He promised himself before, and he promised himself again, as he watched the smouldering parchment turn to ash on the ground.

Present:

Lucian didn't know what he was doing here. Just last night he had reduced his summons to a harmless pile of ash and yet, curiosity one again had the best of him. "Guess that's why I learned the arts to begin with" He muttered to himself as he pushed the heavy wooden door open and strode inside. The building was beautiful. Intricate stonework and tapestries decorated the walls, and colorful light flooded the hall from the large windows made of cut glass. "This is the place then?" He asked his butler as he took note of his surroundings. His butler merely nodded in acknowledgement.

"Stay with the carriage, would you? This is something I have to deal with myself"

While waiting for the others to arrive, Calla began to feel a little bored from staying in the room for so long with nothing happening in it. Digging through her bag, she took two pistols revolvers that had a unique design to them. On the handle of the guns, there was a dark red rose crest on them with her first initial right next to it. Before leaving for the palace, she used the two pistols for practice, but didn't have enough time to clean them. Setting the guns off to the side, she dug through her bag once more taking out her cleaning kit as well as some bullets to reload the gun.

'I heard that the other three members are very interesting.. A magician, an assassin and a demon. I hope we all get a chance to see what each of us can do..' She thought, cleaning the guns until they shined in the light. Putting the kit away, she then began to reload the gun.

Lucian straightened out his suit before stepping through the arching doorway and into the waiting room. Apparently he was not the first to arrive. Already before him was a young lady, what looked to be a sweet delicate thing, seated on a couch, cleaning what seemed to be a beautiful set of ornate pistols. He raised his eyebrow in mild surprise. Crossing his arms over his chest he stopped in front of Calla and said the first thing that came to his mind.

"So what's a lady like yourself doing here with something like that"

He made a vague motion at the twin pistols lying across her lap. "You're not the person that sent for me, are you?... No, I can tell you're not"

As she finished reloading one of the guns, Calla suddenly heard the doors of the waiting room open, yet she did not turn to see who it was that had just entered. Getting ready to reload her final gum with the bullets that laid next to her on the couch, footsteps could be heard heading in her direction. While loading the gun, a pair of feet could be seen in her eyesight, since she was looking down at her lap towards the gun. Bring her crimson hues to the male who stood before her, she examined his appearance and already knew who he was.

"Mr. Lerich, these are my precious toys.." She spoke while getting up from the couch and heading over to her bag to put her pistols away. When she finished, she then answered his second question. "No I didn't, I'm the gunner."

Lucian flashed a brilliant smile and took a half step back.

"I take it you've seen one of my shows? Or at least heard of me then?"

He took an overdramatic sweeping bow and flashed his best showman's smile. The handkerchief in his hand suddenly became a rose (all slight of hand) and he held it out as an offering to Calla.

"Lucian Lerich at your service. I'm the magician"

Watching his movements, she could tell he was a little into himself. "I haven't. My brother has." She replied to his questions of whether she has since her performances. When bowed and made a rose suddenly appear, she took the rose, placing it on the table where her bag sat.

Covering her mouth as she yawned, Calla was actually quite tired, but didn't want to be rude. She curtsied to Lucian and introduced herself. "Calla Hodson. Count Hodsons' daughter.." She didn't mind care much for her relation to her family except for her naive younger brother who was still learning. Whether she came from money or not, she only cared about being able to hold her precious pistols.

"I'd like to see your black magic..." She said knowing that what he actually did, wasn't anything but small and simple tricks.

Lucian's overdramatic flair vanished in the blink of an eye, a grim serious expression on his face. He stared back at her, his silver eyes piercing like twin mirrors. All humor lost to him.

"Black magic? wherever you heard that from, I'm afraid you're mistaken... I am but a simple magician"

He pulled out a deck of cards and began shuffling it, the dread seriousness still hung about him, think enough to cut with a knife.

"Besides, I'm much more interested in seeing you shoot. I hear you're quite the shot"

Calla couldn't help but smiled to herself when she suddenly saw his flashy facade disappear, obviously she was right when she mentioned black magic. Going over to him, she took the cards from his hand, shuffling them herself and then picked out five cards. Handing them back to him, the cards consisted of two spades, two clubs and a diamond.

"Place them on the wall with there backs to me after shuffling.." She said to him as she picked up one of her pistols. She wouldn't know where the heart is if he shuffles them, but she has always had a good sense about these things.

Lucian had no clue what she was up to, but shrugging it off, he took the set of cards over to the wall furthest from any obvious breakables... or at least furthest away from the most expensive looking ones. A little putty was all it took to have the cards stuck face down against the woodwork. Taking a couple steps clear, he backed away from the makeshift firing range and turned his attention on the young lady with her pistols.

"Erm... just to clarify, what exactly do we have planned here?"

He cast a wary eye at the cards, not wanting to take the blame for any property damage that the bullets might very well cause.

Watching as he placed the cards on the wall, she then waited for him to stand clear of where she'd be shooting. It was amusing, seeing him a little confused about the situation. "Isn't obvious? The diamond is the target.." Cocking the pistol, she aimed at the card that she felt was the diamond and let off the shot. The bullet pierced the middle of the card, which became stuck in the wood.

"This is your example of my shooting.." She said to him as she waited for him to remove the cards from the wall.

With his showman flourish returned, he walked over to the wall and peeled the cards off the wooden surface, pretending not to notice the ruined paneling behind the card. He looked at the card in his hand and smiled a cocky smile.

"Are you sure you know what card you hit?" he asked, the card dancing lightly between his fingertips. "...Though I do admit, it was pretty good shot, especially for a... um..."

He paused awkwardly for a second "...Lady?"

"Hmmm.. I don't know did you use a cheap parlor trick?" She said as she watched play with the card between his fingers. Loading the empty pocket of the gun, she placed it by the bag next to the rose, before walking over to him. "Why do you hesitate when saying 'lady'?" She asked thinking it was very weird.

Thinking to herself, she still wanted to know what kind of things he could do.

"Actually it wasn't that cheap" Lucian scoffed "...That was one of my best decks of cards" He handed her the card with the hole punched through and took his seat on one of the empty chairs, kicking his feet back. "Besides, the flashy stuff needs more preparation, you don't expect me to conjure up a tiger out of thin air on a moment's notice, do you?"

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver ring on a delicate chain

"Real magic takes planning or tools, the better stuff needs both."

Raising an eyebrow in question he asked mysteriously, "...Would you like me to make you disappear?"

Stepping back from him, Calla thought about everything he was talking about right now. She could care less about some animal appearing out of thin air, she wanted something that would make her question how he had done it. Seeing the ring with a chain attached to it, she found it quite interesting. Mentioning something about having to plan and tools, Calla became curious.

"Tell me more about this planning and tools.." She asked while taking a seat upon the couch and signaling him to join her.

Slipping the ring off the chain he began toying with it as it danced across his fingers

"Magic starts with an object. It can be anything, this ring, a deck of cards, an empty box... even a pretty lady. Anything can used to grab the target's attention and from there, it's my job to make the object seem to do the impossible. You need to set things up in advance to pull those things off. Though I can't say how. Trade secrets you know."

Lucian slipped the ring onto his finger and put the chain back into his pocket

"I'm sorry, that's all I can tell you for now."

"Makoto hurry they will catch us!" a black haired girl was runing away from some guards that had caught her and makoto killing a shopkeeper that was selling something he souldnt."calm down saki just follow my lead.." she says before jumping on a creat and climbing on a low roof she held out her hand for her sister saki to grab onto.once they where both on the roof they ran or saki ran and makoto walked as the guards had problems geting up the roof."look makoto fathers shop!" saki called and ran over until makoto grabed her and hid behind a chimney.makoto was always fast and though a head of every one.she was one of the most wanted Assasin in town yet no one could ever catch her.she put a finger to her lips looking at saki.when the guards passed she stabed one in the neck and shot the other with an arrow in a flash then snaped the last ones neck. she walked home with saki.to find a letter from...the queen?

Present

Makoto hugs saki good bye before heading off.'why me im just an asassin that breaks the ruls' she thought geting on her horse.she wasnt gonna take some fansy royal carrige.she hated royal people always thinking there better then every one else.she read over the letter again while rideing.'why am i even going?' she asked herself why did she care if the queen needed her?that just proves she is the badest asasin.when she arrived she let the stable keeper hang up her horse.she walked in looking for shadows to hide in.finding onej spot in a corner she heads staight to it not minding the others as she hid her face untill she reached the shaded spot glowing red eyes stare at the two."guess im not the first here huh?"

Disappointed that she couldn't hear anymore, she leaned back against the couch while pouting a little. Though Calla was nineteen, she did some times have a tendency to act like a child who didn't get what she wanted. Soon after her elegant and gentle demeanor came back. Twirling the ends of her hair with her finger, she turned towards him. "For someone with such wealth and power, it's strange that you're a magician.." She mentioned.

As they were sitting, the butler from earlier came in with a silver tray with a tea set and pastries on it. Setting it down on the table in front of the couch, he poured the two of them tea and then left the room. Taking a cup, she placed three cubes of sugar in before stirring it.

--- Merged Double Post ---

Soon after the butler left the room, Calla sensed that someone was there in the room with them.

Lucian let out a genuine laugh at the comment

"With so much wealth and free time, one must pick up a hobby to keep oneself sane. Surely you of all people should understand. I'm sure you didn't start shooting things because that was your 'job' to do."

He glanced at the door as the new arrival entered the room.

"Oh look, we have a new arrival. You do look familiar. Have I seen you before?"

"maybe...have you checked wanted posters?" makoto laughed she knew that the guards put wanted signs up however they dont have a picture of her or her name they had one of the town folk draw a picture of the side of her face tough wich looked kind of like her."why do you care?" she red eyes looked away then straight at him wanting an answer fast.

"She's a wild one.." Calla said as she sipped her tea, not looking in the direction of the girl. Setting the tea back down, she pick up the plate with a strawberry cake before eating it with the fork that was provided. She knew that this was obviously the assassin, now all there was left was the demon. "Don't be afraid.. We don't bite, but I do shoot." Calla said to her.

Lucian blinked.

"Wanted posters? not at all. I just happen to see a lot of people. I thought you might have been one of them."

He settled comfortable into his chair and laced his hands in front of himself.

"But supposing I had, should I be wary of you?"

"you could be when im hungry and your pockets should be." she stood knowing they probly didnt know what she ment by 'when im hungry' she smelled the air taking in there scent so she could easly find them later.the male seemed to have a nice scent to him.much better then the little girls.he would be the first she bit.(yeah she is a bit strange xD )

"Seems she has a secret. Be careful, she might actually eat you.." Calla said. Setting the plate down with cake still on it, she got up from the couch and walked over to the girl. Noticing her eyes, Calla couldn't help but smirk to herself. Though she knew how to handle a gun, Calla was also very intelligent and knew what she needed to know when she needed to. "Oh yes.. Be very careful."

Lucian stiffened slightly and a sudden realization hit him. She was not human. And she was sizing him up... for a snack. He stood up, determined to get the first strike, and held out an open palm his silver ring gleaming slightly as he poured his will into releasing the built up energy stored in his catalyst. A wave of pure kinetic force lashed out, like being hit by a giant pillow, swung by the hulk, straight for the vampire.

"Stay back! Temptress! I know of your kind!"

He bit back a snarl in his voice, but his eyes held the glint of cold steel, ready to kill.
