Energy lines are thin strands that interconnect an ocean of worlds. It is from where mages of the plane of Atama draw their power. As possibilities are boundless, a mage's practice lies in drawing out a coveted outcome. If they may so desire, they can usher in a partition of a reality in which their enemies spontaneously combust, are a goblin, or a mindless drone. The ability to meld part of an existing plane to match another is the essence of magic. Its ability to change or bring forth matter is as infinite as the innumerable converging realities. Mages exercise some natural control over their form to prevent instant deaths, whereas typical mortals are powerless. Many mages have a specialization or affinity: one may be better at fire magics, another at transmutation. This art is either studied as a science or as theology. While deity-like entities do exist, the point of contention is whether these entities are merely creatures with immense control over the Metaxy (the name that describes the entire collection of realities) or figures responsible for creation.

In Atama, the most common creature of some sentience is humans. But, they do not alone preside over the plane. Many years ago, at an unknown point in time, scholars predict that many realities had aligned. This event is called the Meígma. Existence crossed at the edges, intertwining creatures from one world into the other. Gnomes, goblins, elves, alongside innumerable others, poured into Atama. Today, they have etched their societies into the world, or they have scattered throughout the wild. Some are still alive from the initial crossing. The aforementioned original denizens are both scarce and long-lived, either from magic or a constitution afforded to them by birth.

Not all mages or kind, nor are all of these creatures civil. Guilds became established as a means to combat these anomalies. Orders are given by commission from the Society of Mageía per a guild's skill set and location. In particular, there are rumors of an upstart guild amid creation—these rumors come from Pluhver, the roaring city of steel. Despite the large population, Pluhver has remained guildless since its foundation. It makes the sudden sprouting of one all the more curious. For one reason or another, you have become drawn to these rumors. Whether you are an inhabitant of Pluhver or a traveler from afar, you find yourself at the guild's doorstep.
