Realistic or Modern The Plague

As a person who has probably played too much Plague Inc., and as a person who has a knack for imagining things descriptively, I've had an idea to do a role play in the modern era. It's sorta like, pre- to during- apocalypse setting. I'm open to many different things for this (including zombies and mind control worms), so if you're interested, post in the thread and I'll start a message when I feel like we'd have enough to start it up! I'm looking for about 2 to 6 people to participate. I'll understand if not everyone can participate all the time.


Just for a quick sense as to what the world is like


The year is 2015. As many years before exaggerated the threat of several minor diseases such as Swine Flu, it isn't a surprise when you hear about another disease spreading through Africa. You go about your daily tasks, not too worried about the media hype. By the time the Christmas season hits, several news channels are speaking of an outbreak of Ebola in Canada--apparently an office in Vancouver working on a vaccination had a major security breech, releasing the virus in the air while drastically changing it. Nobody knows what the changed virus would bring to the world, or how to react.

You mean you're open to different things? What do you mean by that?

I could probably do this if you could be a bit more specific with what we would actually be doing. I'm familiar with Plague Inc. and the way you've described this Rp based on it isn't adequate enough for me.

Awesome, really want to do this, especially when you mentioned Plague Inc. But I do agree with @DamagedGlasses, it is too shallow and inadequate.

The way I imagine the roleplay going as of now is basically, we are people in a town that was recently sealed off by the government, more for the purpose of keeping the virus out. I guess like, I was hoping I could sort of make up the role-play as I get feedback by the players (or a feel for what direction we wanna take this) so, yeah. Sorry if that answer wasn't satisfying lol, but I guess that's why there's a recruitment section, that way we can iron out these questions before we dedicate a thread to the roleplay! X3

Just curious before I finalize this draft, what do we want to start as? Like, the way I see it is the plague destroyed much of society, and the government has fallen long ago. The only remnants of the government are the military controllers of the quarantine towns established in various locations west of the Rockies. Do we want to play around the "high point" of the quarantine towns, or like, as survivors drifting the town, or what? (Also, I'll describe the plague in the role play thread, and as of the quarantine towns, I will say the plague is on the downturn.) Just ask any questions so I can like, finalize the draft. [TLR: I'm nervous and want to delay publishing as long as possible :*P]


Edit: By "as long as possible" in the tl;dr, I mean, it'll be posted tomorrow, but yeah, I just want to make sure you guys have any questions answered ^^


Edit 2: The story given in the first post is the general history of how this happened. Of course, as stated, it is up for change. 
True TLR for the post above, do we want to have, say, a social game going on inside a "quarantine town" or would we rather have an almost DND-like journey that might only start at a quarantine town? (Or both, since that seems like a great thing we could try)
