official clown business
Okay so our name is Piss and we are the Mafioso
Welcome, clansmen, to the beginning of The Pilgrimage, an incredible journey through the Winterstone region that will test the willpower of the Ryggva, a mostly Dwarven clan that has been living off the tundra for a very long time.
Originally known by another name entirely, the Ryggva clan, lead by the quick-tempered but reasonable Dwarf, Tjorvund, was initially formed by survivors of the fall of one of the twelve Dwarven kingdoms, an event that occurred nearly a century ago. Over time, several smaller groups and wanderers joined up with the clan and its name gradually developed into one that defined all those who settled under its banner (a unique gilded, sky blue pattern). As of this moment, there are roughly eighty people who have the privilege of calling themselves Ryggva.
As of late, the Ryggva have fallen under hard times, having been forced to carefully ration their supplies and endure near-constant raids by territorial Kobolds and the occasional Ageless appearance. With the threat of an impending invasion by either side, the clan is forced to retreat from the lands they've been living in for generations, and search for a newer, much safer haven they can call home.
You will play as a member of the Dwarven/Gnomish council that assists in making important decisions for the Ryggva clan. Following the advice of a mysterious Elf who came across the clan only a month ago, you must embark upon the longest journey the Ryggva have ever gone on in their lives, all while ensuring Tjorvund, the Elf, and the rest of your clansmen are safe from harm.
The future is uncertain for your clan, but with good fortune and perseverance you will surely be able to find sanctuary, and perhaps discover the true purpose of the Elf's visit while doing so.
Good luck on your journey, clansmen.

Hello, fellow roleplayers and boy hunters! This is going to be the first roleplay I will have created on RPNation: a medieval fantasy themed dicer using the URealms card deck and the D20! It is going to be a simple/casual roleplay where you definitely have to put a good amount of effort, but don't need to be super detailed until it feels absolutely necessary.
Let's see what we've got down here, shall we?
FEATURES & COMBAT MECHANICS
Since this isn't D&D or anything like that, you'll probably be wondering how everything works here. To start off, there will be a character creation phase that the players must go through before actually starting on their character's backstory or appearance details (the CS is incredibly simple, by the way). It's all explained in the next couple sections.
The only dice used is the D20 (very rarely, another kind of dice can be seen) with no modifiers, no stats, nothing like that. Whenever you perform an action or there's something specific or important you have to roll for, a D20 will be rolled to determine the success of the action. There are Low Rolls (5-), High Rolls (16+), Critical Rolls (1 or 20), and the Average Rolls in between. Nice and simple.
Combat will most certainly be a part of the adventure, and it is quite simple as well. You have a pool of actions you may spend during your turn to utilize any weapons or abilities at your disposals.
Move Actions can simply be used to move a moderate distance (I have no way of measuring this), Regular Actions may be used on your weapon's Basic Attacks, Abilities, or creative roleplay actions, and your three Anytime Actions may be used in the exact same way as Regular except you may use them whenever you want and to interrupt actions. Anytimes don't come back until combat ends.
The other thing you'll be thinking about in combat is your Stamina, which is affected by your Race, Class, Traits, and whatever Armor you've brought with you. When you run out of Stamina, your character will be put in Danger and will have to perform a Death Roll which will kill them if they roll a 1 on the D20. It's scary because even if it is the very first Death Roll in the campaign, you could die right there and end up out of the roleplay for good. However, as long as you survive, you can immediately get back up at the start of the next round as long as I don't say otherwise.

RACES & TRAITS
If you are interested in this campaign and wish to make a character, the first and only thing you will have to do right now is announce your interest by replying with the Race you would like to be! Each of the four available races has their own unique benefits and characteristics that will be useful mostly in the process of character creation and potentially also during the campaign!
Dwarf - A stout, bearded (regardless of gender) race that stands at 4-5 feet and is fairly similar looking to the race of those watching from behind the screen. Dwarves are known for their wealth and ability to work with stone, and selecting this race will grant you a lot more starting gold at character creation (enough to make your spending decisions much easier).
Dwarves and Dvergrs are the most common races under this banner.
Dvergr - 'Dvergr Dvergr' Dwarves are a race that look similar, but have tough, rocky skin that appears to have cracks, and a natural speech impediment that causes them to repeat the last word of a sentence sentence. They have the ability to turn their skin into pure immovable stone in an instant to avoid danger, causing their first failed Death Roll (effectively just death) to be ignored completely completely.
Gnome - One of the shortest races in the realms, Gnomes are roughly 3 feet or less in stature, and they are quite proficient with the use of technology and treasures. Some gnomes are even known for their strict business, relying on regulations and paperwork to keep things in check. Selecting this race will start you off with 4 random Treasures which you may then keep or give to any of the other players.
Gnomes and Keens are former wanderers of the tundra or descendants of the emissaries who were with the Dwarven clan before its fall a century ago.
Keen - Keens are the shortest variant of gnomes, and the smallest people around at only 2 feet tall. They also share the pointy ears and technological preference of gnomes, as they've got quite the eye for small details. Becoming a Keen will allow you to choose your Cornerstone from a random selection of 3, and also triple the amount of extra gold you gained from your bonus roll.
After selecting your race, you will be granted two random traits that will be important to your character, a Cornerstone and an Attribute. These may grant you benefits or detriments during character creation or during the campaign, but they'll also be great for enhancing the roleplay and giving you a backstory if you're struggling to get one going!

CLASSES & THE SHOP
After you've made the initial selection of your race and received all the starting benefits, you will be offered a selection of 12 Classes which all have their own unique abilities and styles of combat. Except for Seeker, each Class may only be selected once.
Once your class has been chosen, you will have a bonus roll to receive a little extra gold (10 x Roll) and then the shops will open, allowing you to spend all your money on the equipment, supplies, abilities, and companions you see in front of you. Most of the shop will be explained to you unless you're familiar enough with it to not have to bother listening.
One of the players will have the opportunity to play as the central character of the story, an Elven Dreamweaver who has visited the Ryggva for their own reasons. Their goal, as far as the clan knows, is to utilize the mysterious visions they have to guide all the dwarves and gnomes to a safer haven. Some of the clansmen will be okay with this, and some will either be reluctant or flat out against it, but either way the Ryggva has already made the decision to begin marching.

Backstory: She has an unknown origin, having traveled for a significant portion of her life. She learned a lot from her journeys and has become very apt with a revolver. Though, she has become very defensive of her possessions as of late, and refuses to give up any of her stuff, saying that they are her 'presents'. Apparently, she has a crush on this one dwelf that you'll never ever see in this campaign, because I'm not running the show.
