your girlfriend, the love of your life, died last week, and you don't know what to do with yourself anymore.

muse a is a talented musician, mad with grief. he thinks of throwing away his career, he thinks of throwing away even more. a week after her passing, he stumbles through the streets of the busy city when he catches a glimpse of someone who looks like her, and a whiff of the jasmine perfume she always wore. following her brings him to an underground music bar, and when he slips into the dingy, dimly-lit place, he spots her immediately.

muse b

is the spitting image of his girlfriend, from the scent of her perfume down to the way the left side of her lip quirks up first when she smiles. and when she catches his eye from across the bar and smiles, he knows he is beyond help.

✿ essentially a modern retelling of orpheus and eurydice, with a few little changes. there's a lot i'm not adding here for the vibes, but i'd be happy to share if this plot catches your fancy! mxf just because

when muse a wakes up as a side character in the world of her favourite otome game, a year before the plot begins, she does what any smart person would do — romance her favourite character, who happens to be

muse b

, the haughty duke's daughter and the epitome of a stereotypical villainess.

it was no easy feat winning her over, but muse a eventually wiggles her way into

muse b

's heart. no more than a month after, however, the game begins, and muse a finds herself back at square one, all of a sudden.

muse b

knows her as only a random girl who exists in her periphery, she's still engaged to the crown prince, and if muse a doesn't do anything, the only fate awaiting her not-girlfriend is a gruesome death.

thus begins the side character's valiant attempt to re-court a girl convinced she's in love with a scum of a male lead while steering her away from the path of no return. easy, right?

✿ mostly goofy, but what i would GIVE for that angst element of being the only one who recalls being in love in a relationship. wanting to hold their hand, pet names, etc., being met by disgust or indifference. also obsessed with muse b maybe regaining their memories briefly only to forget again. very inspired by all the haley x female farmer edits i saw on tiktok months ago

muse a is an immortal. maybe they are a fallen angel, maybe they are a vampire; but it goes beyond lifespan — they cannot die. it is a curse they must live with, and live they have.

eons ago, muse b was their human lover. a love between an immortal and a human was never meant to last, only muse b was not content to bid their love farewell. immortality is not so difficult to achieve, if you try hard enough, but where they expected delight at the thought of eternal companionship, they are greeted only by muse a's horror.

muse a abandons them, never to be seen again.

in the present day, muse b has fully embraced their new longevity, thriving in the many lives they live through. they return home one day to find muse a on their doorstep with only a single request: for them to end muse a's life.

✿ in my friend's words, the lord & the hermit vibes. the immortality in question is implied to be related to some sort of a cursed deity, but would consider vampires or fallen angels, or even some sort of a mix! let's build a little world.... romance very optional for this, depending on how it develops, but i dig the lingering feelings vibe........ okay with either role for this!

, his heartbroken lover, razes the earth in blind rage, and has her immortality sealed away as punishment.

maybe it was a test of their devotion, or perhaps something closer to a cruel punishment. they reincarnate, again and again, finding each other time and time again only to meet impossible circumstances for their love, doomed to an endless fate of grieving their love in every life.

in the modern day,

has almost fully served her sentence, and memories of her life in heaven begin coming in pieces. muse a, on the other hand, finds himself inexplicably drawn to her, all while battling haunting visions of doomed lovers.

✿ sorry this one is so messy! theme song is moon halo by song sohee, and i'd really like for this to be set somewhere in east asia since the heavenly court set-up is heavily inspired by chinese mythos/daoism — let's flesh out the lore of the gods!!!! i'd really like to write out short chapters of their origin story, some of the previous lives (w. diff gender pairings, we can switch stuff up), leading up to the modern one mentioned in the blurb. pls pls pls (´• ω •`)

it was an undeniable truth they were inseparable, though, pulled even closer by shared aspirations of life in the big city. that is, until tragedy strikes muse b’s life, and

makes a misstep that spirals out of control. jealousy and spite seeped in through the cracks it left behind, and by the time they graduate high school, they are barely on talking terms.

doesn’t think much of it when she auditions for the music video; muse b doesn’t expect her old friend to show up on the first day of filming.

✿ HEFTY backstory with this one. mix up olivia rodrigo's obsessed, glass animals' creatures in heaven, and a premise from muse on fame! just a little lesbian angst situationship. what a vibe! fxf, but i can be convinced for mxf.

muse a is something of a cupid. blessed with the power to match people together, he's spent most of his life messing around with it — it's nothing serious, and his matches have never hurt anybody. some last, some don't, but he's done it all his life that he might call himself a love expert.

muse b

is a girl from college he knows little about. they're in the same year and major/club, but they've exchanged pleasantries maybe once since entering college. he's content never finding out much more about her, only for a senior to let it slip to him that he's been crushing on her for years.

muse a thinks he's making a kind gesture when he pairs them together and nudges his senior to confess; they’ll go out, and everyone will be happy!

except, his power doesn’t work on her, and his senior ends up being a downright brute.

muse b

is the opposite of interested, and the confession goes terribly — muse a steps in to save her from it, only to find her staring at him starry-eyed in class the next day. he comes to find she's far more zealous than he thought, and he winds up wrapped in her courtship attempts at every turn.

✿ and then they fall in love! idk. just something silly and goofy, honestly, i just miss writing tropey romance n mushy stuff. lowkey inspired by cupid and psyche....... would love to incorporate the (cupid pricking himself) and discuss logistics of the power and how she knows, but super flexible with the direction for this plot as well! written as mxf, but can be fxany~
