Kerin
NauticalSparrow - Kerin Sparrow
The area around her was a mixture of solemn silence and beautiful glory as the sun slowly began to rise at the front side of the large cliff's edge. Surrounded by death and misery, one loan sakura tree stood in full bloom, stretching out over the edge of the cliff. It was almost as if the glorious tree sucked all the life out of the cliff through it's large roots that tore through the hard ground. Molten lava crept along the solid ground and fell from the edge of the cliff - leaving behind nothing but death, ash, and solid rock behind. Following the death-bringing lava were puffs of grey and white smoke that latched to the ground and spread like wild fire before finally tumbling down the side of the cliff just as the lava did, spilling into the ocean bellow. Maybe the tree was safe due to how high up it was compared to everything else, or maybe it was just protected. The answer, may never be known. The suffering of this land and gone on for centuries - if not millennia - thanks to the ruthless curse of what was said to be a witch.
As violently beautiful the scenery was, this would not be the main focus; as on an out stretched branch of the large sakura tree was Kerin Sparrow. Crouched down on the limp and ignoring what was going on around her, she watched the sunrise peacefully, her ears laid back and her tail gently curled around the branch to help her keep her balance against the soft winds that threatened to disturb her. Her dark grey eyes seemed to shine with tranquility as she watched the sky and ocean change colors in response to the rise of the large ball of fire, however, her plush lips stayed in a hard line rather than tugging into a smile. She was dressed in what would resemble - in modern days - a black tank top and matching cargo pants with cargo boots, her crimson hair pulled back into a thick pony tail. Around her neck she wore a black collar with one spike on each side that read "PET", though the reason was currently unknown. There was nothing to disturb her facial features, though she had black cuffs with broken chains on each of her wrists.
Once the sun had risen to a certain degree, Kerin seemed to lose interest and looked away, turning her attention towards the depressing scene behind her. It may be about time I leave and return home. She thought to herself as she watched the smoke slowly creep across the land. With graceful ease, she stood and carefully walked down the length of the branch, her tail tip sliding gently along the tree's bark. Once at a better positioning, she jumped down, grabbing onto one branch to swing herself and let go, landing with a quiet thud on the hardened ground of the cliff. She walked by the tree, kissing the tips of her index finger, middle finger, and ring finger at the same time and placing them against the side of the tree. Looking up, she finally allowed for a light smile to tug at her lips as a silent goodbye to the old sakura tree filled her head.
With this, she walked to the edge of the cliff and jumped, allowing herself to free fall down until she were just inches from hitting the surface of a large boat's flooring. She was part dark elf and part vampire after all, saving herself from falling to her death in such a manner as this was no problem to her. She picked herself up and brushed herself off with a grin as she walked across the deck to a bell tied to the mainsail. Pulling at the string of the bell, she made its sound ring out across the ship as she yelled for her crew. "Rise n' shine! We have t' get a move on if we plan on makin' it back t' Auquaz Tolgalen by sunset!
