Resting Witch Face
breaking the laws of physics medieval style
I'm sure you're familiar with term commonly referred to as writer's block. It's when you try to force a creative thought to form when you lack the metaphorical "creative juices" to do so, so you either write meaningless paragraphs that don't go anywhere or nothing at all. Frankly it's a bothersome feeling, but what if you reversed the concept while keeping that negative, halting sentiment. Suddenly you're flush with ideas, lots of stories and characters that could honestly go anywhere. There is no limit to how much you can put on the page, but it just doesn't line up. Roleplay sessions that you post stagnate and aren't given much attention, or have a short run before something or other grinds the entire process to a crawl.
I've been stuck in this repeating cycle for months now. I'll write down something I deem as interesting, or maybe just fun to play around within, and I rework it from raw story into something more digestible for participants. But they just won't bite, or don't go "all in" like with other roleplays.
Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, or not hooking them in the right ways, but I figure there's some reason why. I just can't see it very clearly.
For now, however, I'm just stuck with fantasy cravings and twitchy keyboard-trigger fingers. If you're interested in maybe making a short piece of fiction or something more long term, feel free to post or move on to something else. This is really just me putting my thoughts on the internet for everyone to see.
