Fandom The Only Way To Go Is Up! ~The Story~

Deathstroke heard the distinct footsteps that he had heard with Revy earlier and looked to see her coming over. He could see that she seemed to be in a hurry and what she was saying was urgent. "We were discussing info, not much to go on, but leads seem to point to the tower." He listened to her speak about finding the others. Then looking up again, he began to suspect that this had somewhat to do with the storm coming. "I can see you are in a rush, I have a suspicion the reason has something to do with the storm that's coming?"
York walked up to Deathstroke and asked, "Deathstroke... I must ask you, why did you adopt such an odd alias?"
York then rambled about why he felt the name, Deathstroke, was so odd to him, "Normally, a name that contained the word death would normally imply that you can emotionally detach yourself from a hit, making you as indifferent as Death, the Grim Reaper, himself... but I must ask... why add Stroke? If you were the one to name yourself as such... While the name does imply that you give the target the 'Killing blow' I say a simpler name of 'Mr. Death' would do just fine."

"Hit the nail right on the head there, buddy." Revy gave Deathstroke a cynical and crooked smile as he spoke, though even that disappeared as quickly as it came. "None of us are gonna survive that storm if we stay here, and as far as I'm aware," She jerked her head over to the tower in the horizon, features morphing into a scowl. "That tower's the only thing that's gonna be left standing once it's through. And I sure as hell don't feel like dying anytime soon."

This other girl didn't know where they were either? Just what happened to cause this? ...Marta sincerely hoped it wasn't a kidnapping. Maybe it was a prank? What else could it possibly be...

"If someone is playing a prank on us, I'm going to bash them over the head." Marta states in response to her own thoughts aloud, a clearly irritated expression on her face. However, at the extended hand Minerva offered, she reached out in response.

"Have you looked around? I feel like we should look for a doctor, or something of the sort. Someone to explain to us where we are, y'know?" The brunette responds to the other, her blue hues glancing at the other female.

" "Wouldn't that be dangerous to go alone, sir Alonne?" perhaps she didn't get the pun on his name,

Sir Alonne shook his head "Indeed, but I suppose I've become numb to danger over the years." he said with a shrug "A tower of unknown origin crawling with creatures beyond understanding that probably would have quite an enjoyable time gnawing through my very bones is nothing to worry too much about."

The pitter-patter of rain on his helmet momentarily drew his attention, and he was about to suggest they locate momentary shelter when a scantily clad woman interrupted them. Cocking his head to the side, Sir Alonne listened to her as York tried questioning Deathstroke on his name.

"Shouldn't we be trying to warn everyone including these apparently defenseless villagers about this if its as lethal as you say? The tower seems quite big enough to hold a large number of people." the Swordsman commented before stepping closer to Revy and tapping the lip of his helmet in thought "But besides that Madame, how exactly do you know of the risk this storm provides?"

Seeing no one inside the establishment's main room, Koishi vaulted over the hospital's waiting counter and went further inside. After phasing through a thick wooden door to the side, she found herself in a room full of wooden crates and other containers. Still, even here, there was no one. For a moment, she sat down on the edge of one of the crates, taking a few looks around the somewhat dusty room. She swung her legs back and forth as they dangled off of the edge of the large crate. Was everything in here abandoned, she wondered? She hopped off the box, spun around, and without any second thought, ripped open the bolted-shut crate's top to take a peak at what was inside it.

Deathstroke didn't show it, but he was growing annoyed about York questioning his alias, especially saying 'Mr. Death' would be better... "Because Mr. Death sounds like something a fucking moron would come up with."

Deathstroke nodded in approval as he correctly deduced that fact. Deathstroke took note that she stated that the storm that was coming would kill them all, something he would have originally disregarded as the ramblings of someone mad, but as he analyzed her he could see no tells, which to him must have meant that she was right, also he didn't imagine Revy to be someone who would want to get attention in THAT regard or someone who wanted to waste their time with something like that, that is unless he was giving her FAR too much credit, but right now he was willing to put some faith in her. "Mhm, well I can see you wanted to say that with urgency and I see no tells that would point to you lying, so it seems we are going to have to make a break for the tower, and it appears that at this distance if we were to get moving now we could make it without dying."

Sir Alonne shook his head "Indeed, but I suppose I've become numb to danger over the years." he said with a shrug "A tower of unknown origin crawling with creatures beyond understanding that probably would have quite an enjoyable time gnawing through my very bones is nothing to worry too much about."

"Well it doesn't matter whether or not it is dangerous now because our best shot seems to be to head to the tower, besides it looks as if at least a good portion of us are at least competent enough to hold our own as we make it to the tower, so I hope you don't prove me wrong here. I can only assume that whoever gave Revy that info was the person who brought us here or someone who may be crazy, nonetheless the tower does seem to have some significance to it so going to it may honestly be our best shot overall."

But as Alonne suggested warning the villagers about it, Deathstroke gave quite the cold glance underneath that mask of his. Very coldly stating. "I couldn't give two shits about these villagers, I am not joining your suicide pact in trying to help these damn people. If you wish to do so you may but I won't care nor will I do anything.."

"I got this info off of a hooded man, if you really had to know." Revy answered the knight's question with little to no hesitation, resolutely ignoring his earlier statement as she wholeheartedly agreed with Deathstroke on the matter. "The guy whispered it into my ear before he decided to pull off a fucking disappearing act on me." The mercenary added in a bitter tone of voice after a brief moment of silence, remembering the man's entire act from earlier. "Enough of that, though, can we hurry up and find the others already? I don't really wanna be here when this storm decides to make an appearance." She sighed, slightly irritated as she gazed off at the slowly darkening sky.

As the others were continuing their discussion about the dangerous storm, Penny had a thought of telling the guards about this, who was supposed to be with them but...For some odd reason, they disappeared with a trace when she turned around to find them. As Penny was about to bring it up, Sir Alonne brought up a most valuable point.
"Shouldn't we be trying to warn everyone including these apparently defenseless villagers about this if its as lethal as you say? The tower seems quite big enough to hold a large number of people."
"I agree. Maybe we should split up." Penny suggested, "Sir Deathstroke, York and...Ms.Revy, was it? You three please head to the tower. Sir Alonne and I will try and take as much villagers as possible to Tower; which should be our rendezvous point. Are we clear about that?" She voiced her plan with a tiny bit of worry. It would be the most plausible option, true. She knew when she first saw Deathstroke that he would be able to clear through a horde with skill, so leaving York with him seems like the most viable descision. About Ms.Revy...She doesn't know much, but she seems to be kind enough to disclose this information. She soon glanced back at the forest, and to her surprise, it appeared to be crumbling. "We appear to be running out of time. I suggest we move immediately." Penny nodded as she headed into the town and began to look around for possible survivors.

Now the tragedy of this story begins.

"Hm?!" The sudden change of personality bothered Rohan almost immediately, eyes widening in surprise. How would one have two personalities and simultaneously switch between them? He soon recalled reading something in a medical book; dissociative identity disorder or in layman's terms...Multiple Personality Disorder. "...Right, that would be the only possible answer..." Rohan rubbed his chin for a bit and nodded to himself. However, there is only one thing he needed to do other than to sit around and listen to these two talk all day; find a way home. With that in mind, Rohan turned to the door and began to walk towards it. To his surprise, the door was locked.
"Huh...Is this the kind of door that can be locked outside?" Rohan said to himself as he tried to open it again, this time, pulling it. As he suspected, it didn't work. "Hmm..." Rohan thought about it once more, spotting the window beside it. Maybe he can unlocked it by the window. But once again...The window wouldn't open. "...Dammit. The Door and the Window's locked."

Sir Alonne could only shrug at Deathstroke's proclamation, he'd worked with this type before.

He was putting far more brain power into considering the legitimacy of Revy's words. Just as he was going to question her further on the matter, she told them who her source of information was.

"Really now?" the Swordsman said after she was done. Usually it took far more attention to deal for him to piece together a situation, but this one was practically assembling itself before his very eyes.

He gave a small chuckle at that, appreciative of something being simple for a change. Then Penny offered a plan "Ah, a bright young woman I see. That plan sounds quite-"

His words died once he glanced behind them and saw the forest quite literally crumbling "Hm, congratulations for afterwards then." he said evenly before bowing to the others and jogging off to warn the Villagers.

He didn't want to waste too much time, merely calling out to them that the storm was too powerful and to seek shelter in the tower. Despite his willingness to provide a way out for them, he was not planning on staying out for longer than he absolutely must.

Which is why he paused upon noticing the door to the Tavern, it appeared someone inside was trying to get out. Curiosity peaking once more, he called out his warning to several other nearby villagers before walking to the door and knocking on it "Excuse me, it appears a storm is about to destroy this entire village and will most likely swallow and kill everyone unless they take shelter in the Tower out here." He called out to the people inside with his usual warning before pausing and asking "Do... any of you require some assistance getting out?"

Barry could only see wood, his eyes had enough glow to them for him to see the inside of a box. His first thought was to make sure he has his blades, the next was to try and move. He wasn't sure how long he'd been inside of the box, but he wanted to get out. Unfortunately there wasn't enough room for him to move his arms enough to break himself out.
The next thing he knew he could see light above him and a feminine face "Hello there missy, you wouldn't mind helping me get out of this crate would ya?" His voice echoed from the suit of armor as he asked for help.

"Exactly, we need to get going." Deathstroke stated watching everything unfold and analyzing it, seeing that they still had time.

He gave a small chuckle at that, appreciative of something being simple for a change. Then Penny offered a plan "Ah, a bright young woman I see. That plan sounds quite-"
Deathstroke couldn't help but scoff at Alonne's comment, Penny obviously came up with the plan, but the plan didn't need much thought to be contemplated, you simply had to take everyone's perspective and put it to what they wanted to do, but he clearly was giving the girl too much credit. "That's something a 5-year-old could figure out, you are giving her far too much credit, nonetheless it's a very simple idea I can oblige to do." Deathstroke then unslung his M4A1 with the silencer attached again.

She soon glanced back at the forest, and to her surprise, it appeared to be crumbling.
Deathstroke glanced as he saw the forest literally crumbling, and almost instantly his military instincts kicked in.

"Alright everyone who wants to immediately get to the tower follow me now! I will lead the way there! I will also provide cover so that if any threats present themselves they won't slow down you others! On me now!" And with that Deathstroke took off at breakneck speed, presenting a speed that was obviously faster than the average human, he moved fast enough to prove that, but slow enough that the other's could still see him. He kept his weapon at the ready and was prepared to shoot at anything perceived as a threat. All the while also analyzing his surroundings to find the correct path to the tower and to possibly find any shortcuts or any path that could work to their advantage.

"Why?! What would you be doing with it!?" Barry shouted angrily, he tried in vain to move but couldn't. He wasn't going to just give up the piece of his armor that functioned as his face, and he thought it made him look frightening. Maybe he could trick her... "I would give it to ya if I could missy but it's too cramped to take it off. How's about I give it to ya after you get me out of this crate?" He said.

Koishi felt a surge of anger and a pinch of fear from the spirit before her. She tilted her head at him curiously, considering just reaching out and taking it off right now.

Maybe he could trick her... "I would give it to ya if I could missy but it's too cramped to take it off. How's about I give it to ya after you get me out of this crate?" He said.

Koishi brought her sleeve up to her face, pondering his words.

"Hmm...OK," she said as she grabbed one of the panels of the crate with her hands. She leaned back on her tiptoes, and the panel snapped off and fell to the ground. With most of the crate's structural integrity compromised now, it all fell apart, and Barry was now free to move around his hulking body.

"We never finished," she said, addressing Rohan. "What is the command you wrote?"

"A Safety lock: 'I cannot attack Rohan Kishibe', written in your 20th page. I prevented you to attack me in any shape or form...You were clever enough to actually try and corner me without attacking me directly." Rohan replied, summoning [Heaven's Door] once more, opening a small page on the door. Examining it's contents, it was revealed that it was not actually locked. "Strange. It says it's not locked...Is it jammed?"

Uzume snapped out of her true personality and asked, "What do you mean by... command?"

"I don't usually disclose the abilities of my Stand; it'll put me in a tactical disadvantage." Rohan replied, closing the page and reverting it back to normal and called back Heaven's Door. "I'll only use Heaven's Door once I feel like I'm in danger or when I get curious. You're no exception, Uzume." As soon as he said that, an unfamiliar voice rang out from the door.

Sir Alonne did not have time for this... at the rate the storm was coming he had to be decisive.

So he unsheathed his sword as he spoke "You have my word Sir, now please back away from the door so I may cut through it with little problem." he said before grasping his Nagamki on both hands and raising it into proper position. He waited exactly three seconds before dashing towards it.

Two lightning quick swings of his blade left a large X-shaped gash in the door, which the Swordsman reached for with one hand whilst sheathing his blade with the other.

He applied pressure to the door and it's weakened form gave a loud splintering snap as it broke along the gash.

The Warrior glanced inside for only a moment "Ah I see you have company, good." he said before turning and continuing on his way whilst calling back to them "Have them make for the Tower as well then! If you still find yourself skeptical take a quick peak at the Horizon!"

And with that he continued jogging and spreading his warning.

As Barry said the word 'chop' to her, Koishi's breathing suddenly grew heavy and erratic, and this was only amplified by the cleaver he threw near her with expert precision. She fidgeted her fingers around restlessly at her waist, showing to Barry that she was itching to do something.

"Not to mention this isn't any ol' mask-" Barry reached up for the helmet of his armor and lifted it up with his free hand "It's also my head!" He finished, expecting her to scream in fear, since he was disembodied soul in a suit of armor.

Koishi's eyes widened in surprise at his lack of a head under the helmet. What Barry was expecting to be fear, though, quickly shifted into great eagerness on the girl's part. She scooted over closer to him, pulling out a mask of her own from her waist and holding it up to her face with her left hand. She looked up and stared at the mask Barry held in his own hand—the one that she was so fascinated about. When he took off his helmet, Koishi was already well aware of the fact that he was a spirit possessing a suit of armor. A thought crossed the girl's mind—what would it be like to be like him and live inside that shell of his?

"Now I want to wear your mask and be inside of you," she said as she left the ground and levitated up to his eye level, completely naïve to any accidental innuendo she might have just mentioned.

Alice listened intently as Rohan shared bits and pieces about his 'stand' to Uzume. Alice was rather skeptical of how Rohan explained the 'command' he had written. Apparently, he had used his familiar, or 'stand', rather, to transmute her into a book and 'write something onto her'. Believing something more sinister to be lurking in the command he had written, Alice decided to continue being wary of Rohan for as long as he was in her vicinity.

As Rohan went to examine the door, Alice heard a deep voice from the other side of the door. Rohan asked the stranger whether he could trust him or not, and after affirming this, a warrior clad in earth-coloured armor cut through the door with his sword.

The warrior had arrived for one thing—a warning. His tone was urgent, telling the three of them to move as quickly as possible to a tower of some sort.

Tower? What tower? There were no towers in Gensokyo.

...Then again, this couldn't possibly be Gensokyo.

Alice silently walked out through the newly made hole in the wall, holding an arm up to her face to shield her eyes from the brightness of the sun. She was curious about the warrior's urgency, though. As she lowered her arm, she immediately saw upon the horizon...
