Name: Queen Marie Hildren

Age: 34 (Deceased)

Race: Kildran

FirstQueen.jpg

The young Marie Peraquin was much too free of a spirit than anyone gave her credit for. Though she was the second daughter of a noble family, she didn't care for the more sensible diversions of the upper class. Where dinner parties were common, she preferred to eat outside with a good book in hand. If other young girls took to stitching, she wanted to watch the soldiers practice. When young women were pining over men in letters and handkerchiefs, she was out at night meeting them.

Almost all the activities of a young noble woman she detested, except for one: horseback riding. Often she escaped to the stables for hours at a time, and her best friends were their inhabitants. It was enough of a diversion to keep her from escaping home and its ill tastes completely. Her entire outlook changed one day, however. On one born-day celebration of the then-Prince Anthony, a tournament was held, which she attended for the sport, something she had always enjoyed. Perhaps it was her beauty; perhaps it was the fact that Marie remained engaged in the tournament while the other ladies yawned and chattered-whatever it was, Prince Anthony was enchanted, a feeling that never quite left him.

As they grew more and more fond of each other and eventually married, Marie grew to accept and even enjoy her responsibilities as the highest noble woman in Kildra. And thankfully it meant she didn't have to give up her love of horses. But as fate is cruel at times, it was the thing she loved best that would end her life and happiness. One missed jump and her world came crashing down on top of her, literally, crushing her lungs in the process, leaving behind a grief-stricken husband and young son, afraid to face the world alone.

Name: Prince Unger Hildren II

Age: 27 (Presumed Deceased at 23)

Race: Kildran

Unger.jpg

The young Prince Unger II had such high hopes in life. In the short time he knew them, his parents taught him all about love and loyalty to Kildra, to its people, and to family. As he continued to grow and learn he knew that one day it would be his turn to rule, and he wanted nothing more than to be a great king, to lead his people to prosperity and protect them with his life, much like his ancestor and namesake, King Unger Hildren I. The death of his mother when he was eight was hard and grieved him deeply, but it made him even more determined to one day be the king she had taught him to be; the loving, noble son a mother such as her deserved. He worked hard at his studies, accompanied his father to matters of business, and trained with the sword from a young age, though not the legendary “Sun Sword” that hung on the wall of his father’s conference room. His time for that had not yet come.

Things began to change when his father remarried. The woman was of a very different temperament than his mother: somewhat coarse and impolite, with little manners and brutish language. For the sake of his father he would tolerate her in open public, but deep down he hated her with a a fiery resentment; an outsider to the happy family he and his father had once known. He spent much of his time with friends: Garrus and Marit were everything to him, and Unger confided much to them of his life: hopes and fears, laughter and tears, for each week brought all. Suzane soon gave birth to a son. That was an event that brought conflicting feelings for him. At age 16 Unger was more than happy to have someone he could take under his wing and teach everything he knew. It proved to be a healthy diversion at least.

But life would get worse still for the prince, for his father would be found dead of poison when he was 19. Unger was too rash to be in shock for long, for he knew exactly where to point his finger. The commoner wife of his late father had all the reason in the world to want him dead: a new life of leisure she thoroughly enjoyed, the most exquisite of comforts, and a son of her own to put on the throne. It did not help that Unger, as a child and out of anger, would threaten Suzane on a near constant basis. She probably never even loved his father, and this was merely the next to last move in her elaborate game of chess, the checkmate being the elimination of Unger himself, and his own move could not be a passive one.

Many of the noble families and the Kildran army were on his side. In his anger and lust for revenge at the final destruction of his family, Unger had charged Suzane with the murder, while she had simultaneously accused him of the deed. HIM! His own son! How dare the peasant woman!? She had got in the way of him being a good king and ruling this people fairly and he would not allow that. He would not allow her to ruin his mother’s wishes for him. He took the Sun Sword from its place on the wall.

His peasant step-mother had hired a large amount of mercenaries to fight on her side, many of Nomasdae blood and from far away lands. She was further sullying the Hildren name with her correspondence with lesser beings. His underestimation of these hired swords, including their leader, Syler Hazule, may have been the beginning of his undoing however.

Unger was not afraid, because he was too angry to be afraid, and because he knew his friends were with him, and that made him feel as if he could accomplish anything. But when Garrus was sent away and imprisoned with relatives for wanting to take up arms alongside him, Unger only allowed his anger to grow. If there were those who would put away their own children just to save face, then he wanted nothing to do with them either. Eventually, however, came the news of a tragedy which caused him to stop for a moment: his childhood friend and Garrus’ sweetheart, Marit, was killed dead. Killed by civil unrest. HIS civil unrest. The news shocked him and caused him something of fear. Where Garrus had loved one woman with all his heart, Unger had never known such a thing. He was well-loved and sought after by many young ladies, noble and peasant alike, and in his enjoyment of it, he had never focused his attentions on any one fair face, often envying Garrus for his ability to do so; for such luck in a lover. And now that she was gone, the second member of his trio to be lost, he was dumbfounded. And enraged.

Unger and what was left of his army made a final stand at the "Battle of Boar's Den". The city was almost entirely burned down during the fighting, and in the midst of it all, Unger disappeared. Many believed that he was slain, while others held hope that their rightful King had somehow fled to fight another day...

Name: Prince Alzwon Hildren

Age: 12

Race: Kildran

Alzwon.jpg
(Profile written by @Jabroni)

Prince Alzwon Kildren is the son of the late King Anthony II and Queen Suzanne, the latter currently acting as regent until he comes of age. He is a stout, slender boy who pretends at swordplay. Alzwon's mother dotes over him like a babe, and rumor has it that he was breastfed until he was eight. For these reasons many vassals express concern about his accession. Will he be strong enough to lead the Kildran people? Will he father robust children? Yet truth be told, he has four years to become a man grown and shows promise with the bow. The real question those in power ask themselves is whether Prince Unger II, Alzwon's late brother, still lives. He waged war against their queen mother after King Anthony died, precipitating the War of Royalty (361-365). Prince Unger's disappearance during the conflict remains cloudy at best. If he should somehow emerge from the shadows, Kildra may once again be submerged in war: son against step-mother, and brother against brother.

Important People - House Setaro of Boar's Den
House Setaro of Boar's Den

Name: Sefariu “Sef” Setaro

Aliases: The Setaro Scorpion, The Black Rose of Boar’s Den

Age: 27

Race: Half Nomasdae, Half Kildran

SefFinal.png

The middle son of House Setaro of Boar’s Den, Sef grew up constantly competing for his father’s praise and attention with his younger and older brother, as well as the many in his father’s mercenary company. His family was awarded nobility and rule of Boar’s Den at the end of the War of Royalty. His father, Lord Tukasulu Setaro, was the founder and leader of the “Blades of Setaro”, one of the many mercenary companies that fought under Syler Hazule and the Black Talons on the side of Queen Suzane. His mother, just like his brothers and sister, was an unknown Kildran whore that Tukasulu took the child from after it’s second born day.

During the war Sef was a young soldier who fought with his father and brothers, gaining precious combat experience. He gained the title “The Setaro Scorpion” on the battlefield due to his proficiency and accuracy with a spear, his entire family’s preferred weapon of choice.

It was during one of the many breaks in the year’s long war that Sef met the love his life, Rufus of House Nevarron. They would soon start a relationship that Rufus’ father, Lord Nevarrus Nevarron did not approve of in the slightest. Unlike the Kildrans, the Nomasdae usually took no issue with same sex relationships, and Sef never felt the need to hide his sexuality. If there were those in his life that took issue with it, Sef convinced them otherwise, either with his words or his fists.

The Setaro’s were welcomed by the people of Boar’s Den as much gentler rulers then the Kildran family before them, especially Sef himself, who quickly became known to the people as “The Black Rose of Boar’s Den”. This title may have started as a play on his sexuality and race, but Sef embraced it and put a positive spin on it with his intelligence, wit, and all around kindness.

Although one should not mistake his kindness for weakness, as Sef is considered the most dangerous warrior in his family with his father’s aging.

Important People - House Nevarron of Nevos
House Nevarron of Nevos

Name: Nevarrus Nevarron

Age: 54

Race: Kildran

Nevarrus.jpg

Nevarrus Nevarron has always been an ambitious man who often strives to live up to his family name. Being one of the original noble houses to revolt against the Crown, House Nevarron has since been a symbol of righteousness and honour. However it seems, for Nevarrus, that honour is largely absent. This fact is shown mostly through his political actions rather than his public image - Nevarrus is renown amongst his own people for being a strong ruler due to his role in smashing the Tellywoth Rebellion. Which is an event some would say he started entirely by killing Lord Tellywoth for the hand of Lady Kires Selan. His (rare) critics would say that perhaps, it was the only honourable thing that Nevarrus has ever done - fighting for love.

Regardless of words, former House Tellywoth soon rose up and holed Nevarrus up in his castle. King Anthony was forced to relieve him from seige- a perk Nevarrus earned from picking the right friends at the right times. Despite this setback, Nevarrus is noted to have been a strong commander and an even stronger warrior - but history is written by the victors.

After losing his wife, Kires Selan, Nevarrus seems to have been stuck in a bitter mood. His relationship with his son, Rufus, has deteriorated further, with him often blaming his late mother's acceptance of his homosexuality as being the cause of her death (he believes the Gods sent him a message). "Fucking a boy during war is one thing, but marrying one? Loving one? Shameful." is his general sentiment of Rufus. Either way, Nevarrus is keen to see his bloodline continue and has been heard commanding his son to sire children before he dies.

Although he seems to hold a great disdain for his only child, Nevarrus is too proud of his family name to risk it dying out. He keeps a close eye on Rufus and makes sure that is protected (though perhaps not emotionally) and fed. He is not a brute but a rather intelligent man who knows how to speak and choose his allies. That is how he assimilated House Tellywoth into his own, after all. He is a man with average height, standing at about 5'10" tall. His stocky build is overlaid with fat from disuse and neglect, however, his muscles still show from time to time. However, Nevarrus isn't overweight but his armour doesn't fit like it did twenty years ago. Bald and clean-shaven, he takes great care in maintaining a professional look.

As of late, Nevarrus seems to be becoming even more emotionally destroyed. Though his ancestors fought against slavery, he has been seen buying a young T'Odis girl. Even with this gross violation of his family vows, Nevarrus manages to show a little bit of his personality through his purchase. But perhaps there is something beyond the exotic nature of the T'Odis girl which drove Nevarrus to buy her - late Lady Kires was known to be exceptionally fair of skin.

Important People - House Erikson of Lenent
House Erikson of Lenent

Name: General Sindor Erikson

Age: 48

Race: Kildran

Sindor.jpg

Profile written by @Trickster314

Sindor Erikson has always been ambitious, more-so than his birth or original situation would have warranted. Born the third son of Josef Erikson, a noble family in the kingdom of Kildra in the year 321. Sindor was born as the spare of the spare son. Normally the third son born into such a position would fill their days drinking and getting into pointless fights in the town, the family providing a reasonable allowance to keep the youths relevantly happy. After all, the third son was too far away in the line of succession to be actually for any considerable inheritance but was also a useful throw away

However, Sindor Erikson bucked the trend, he was much too ambitious to be content with spinning his wheels for the rest of his life. Gifted with a bright mind, Sindor dedicated himself to his studies in the hopes of obtaining his father’s attention, which was focused on his brothers. However, no matter what Sindor accomplished his father remained stubbornly distant. As Sindor aged, he grew increasingly bitter choosing to pursue a position of power greater than what his family had ever obtained, in order to prove that birth was not a measure of ability.

At the age of 18 Sindor enlisted into the Kildran army, seeing it as his best chance for moving up in the world. Through his natural intelligence and cunning Sindor managed to obtain command of a 50 man unit after 3 years. While described as a model soldier, there has been some whispers concerning Sindor's raise, with a particular case of a man that questioned Sindor’s intelligence found with his throat slit in the next morning. Nothing was ever proven of course, and Sindor had a valid alibi that night.

Sindor’s breakthrough occurred in the year 351 just after he celebrated his 30th birthday, when his unit was dispatched to cull a band of bandits who had been reported to terrorize the local farmlands. After arriving, they found themselves in an ambush outnumbered 3 to 1, with the numbers of the band drastically underrepresented in the report. Against all odds Sindor’s unit achieved victory, despite heavy losses. Sindor had personally executed the first man in his unit to attempt to flee, and the men’s fear of Sindor was greater than that of the bandits allowing them to fight on. For his success, Sindor was promoted to general of the 5th army and returned home for a brief vacation. After his stay, his brothers both suffered mysterious fatal accidents, and when Josef Erikson died the next year at 58, Sindor Ericson took over the house of Ericson along with the surrounding fief of Lenent.

During the War of Royalty, Syler Hazule (Then General) and his mercenaries were labeled traitors. In addition, there have been rumors that Sindor may be the cause of the Queen's decision to order the "Slaying of the Black Talons". As everyone knew that Sindor had issues with the idea of a merc Nomasdae running the Queen's Kildran army. Sindor sided with the queen and participated in numerous battles. Most notably against the Florians (who had supported prince Unger). Sindor finally achieved victory by assassinating Karl Florian the opposing general, with the general dead Sindor routed the Florian army and executed all captives. When the Queen asked about the battle, Sindor reported that the Florians fought to the last man and refused all attempts to negotiate, naturally this angered the queen. For his service in the war, the Queen awarded him Florentine the traditional holding of the Florian family. After the War of Royalty drew to an end, Sindor was promoted to the main general of the Kildran army following a series of rather peculiar events that lead to Syler Hazule (Then General) and his mercenaries were labeled traitors.

While the new lands pleased Sindor, as he had finally achieved what he set out to do almost 4 decades ago, namely surpassing his father. There was always a voice in the back of his head that demanded more. While it could be argued that he was the most powerful man in the Kingdom, Sindor was well past his prime. After all, would he not have even more power as the ruler of Kildra?

Important People - The Black Talon Mercenaries
The Black Talon Mercenaries

Name: Syler Hazule. Blackfeather. Darkwing. Hero of the Shifting Sands. Scourge of the Backwaters. He is a man who has gone through as many different names as swords; with each one failing to fully define who and what he is.

Age: Syler has been around for a fair bit but none know exactly when he was born. It is doubtful that the famed warrior himself knows and if he does, it is the one secret that will never fall from his lips - even if they have been loosened with drink.

Race: Nomasdae

Syler.jpg
Profile written by @Lakita

Syler is a man with strength and charisma that belies his rather common-place looks. He is not a strapping behemoth as rumours would have you believe nor is he a lithe assassin. In fact, Syler carries a slight beer-gut due to his incessant drinking. Standing at around 5'10", he has the dark skin typical of the Nomasdae, thin white hair around his ears, and an equally white beard and mustache (always neatly trimmed). His clothes and weapons vary as the times, with Syler being spotted wearing anything from robes to dresses (although that could be accounted for as a practical joke).

Likewise, Syler is noted to be equally proficient in most weapons save that of a sword, in which he is among the best of the best. However, one of his more eccentric weapons included that of the cane-sword - a thin blade concealed in an elaborately decorated walking-stick. Unlike his appearance, however, the whereabouts of Syler are less intensively marked down in history. Earliest known sightings of him are dated to be around the year 355 and even then, they are scarce (yet explosive). The most significant event surrounding Syler is his founding of the Black Talon Mercenaries and of their exploits during the War of Royalty.

They were fast to distance themselves from the other mercenary groups that sprouted during the years to come. Unlike the desperate farmers and naive young men that made up the bulk of the other mercs, Syler had comprised for himself a group of professional killers. It was almost unfair - the way their miniature army carved through their enemies. Syler enjoyed his height of glory (or infamy, according to some critics), when his talons managed to take down B'Aech Drymtar - an Ice Tral-el who had been terrorizing the North for centuries.

Although his unorthodox methods of using various villages as bait (leading to their destruction) caught him some heat, Syler was fireproof. Later on he would even gain the support of Queen Suzane herself. Still, men cannot run from their actions forever and in the year 365, Syler would make his last mark in history. Although accounts of Syler's last moments are muddied with bias and rumours, one thing remains clear - he met his end at the hands of his own employer, Queen Suzane. The Black Talon's last stand mirrored their beginning - a bloodbath in the streets of Kein. They say that it took three weeks before they could fully scrub the blood from the paved stones. Although Queen Suzane's official declaration announced the Black Talons to be deceased, there are some people who swear that Syler escaped along with his faithful butcher boy - Ziek Sidane. But house-wives are often known to make up such tales to fill in the long gaps between cooking and cleaning after all...

Name: Channarong Kaouthai. The Lithe Fish, the Parshumian Whirlwind, Luong Wo Ni

Age: 60 (Deceased in the Year 365)

Race: Parshumian

Channarang.jpg
Profile written by @Lakita

Known as the philosopher of the Black Talons, Channarong used his words as often as his blade to solve his problems. A known veteran of the T'Odis-Parshum war (though it wasn't he didn't advertise the fact himself), he was a silent man who preferred to let his actions speak for himself. He did nothing to quell any rumours about his prior life - which wasn't well documented to begin with.

Channarong's reputation grew as he joined the Black Talon Mercenaries, of which he was a valued and senior member. He was one of the few mercenaries who survived to see both the beginning and the end of their group, though he did not last much longer after. Channarong died a heroic death and in his final moments, he truly personified why he was called the Pashumian Whirlwind. His spear pierced the throats of a dozen men and his sword took the lives of another dozen. Though he sought refuge from the fighting in the Tuskless Boar, a now well renown inn, the Kildran Royal Guard tracked him down and promptly killed him.

It is said that by the time came to remove Channarong's corpse from the inn, the soldiers had to pry his body off the wall - so full he was of arrows and spears, like a most ferocious porcupine. When Channarong was alive and well, he was noted to have been a man of both height and strength. Quiet and reliable, he was always there for the rest of the mercenaries be it for a fight or a drink - of which he partook in mighty amounts.

Wildlife - Tusk-Faced Boar

Tusk-Faced Boar
(Written by Kayso Kayso )

Name: Kildran Tusk-Faced Boar

Description: One of the more abundant animals of Zeldwa, the Kildran tusk-faced boar is a mid-sized mammal of the Suidae family that is mostly found in the countries of Kildra and Roadalia, and sometimes in the forests that border Libertia. Resembling a common wild boar, it typically reaches lengths of around 5 feet and heights of 4 feet, though some have been found to be larger in the deeper Kildran forests. Its relatively small size when compared to other wild animals of Zeldwa is not an indication of its ferocity, however. The nature of the Kildran tusk-faced boar is not a pleasant one, and the beasts often pose a danger to farmers and unwary hunters.

Tuskfacedboar.jpg

Multiple large, dense tusks protrude from its head and face, and the size and number of tusks on each animal is usually a good indication of the creature’s age. Younger specimens might exhibit only 2-4 tusks, while it is not surprising to find up to 12 or 14 tusks among the older, more vicious creatures.

tuskfacedboar2.jpg

History: After many unsuccessful attempts at domesticating the Kildran tusk-faced boar, they became heavily targeted in the game industry for their meat and tusks. In many areas of Kildra there is a boar-hunting season every year, which is often opened by the Queen’s hunting party and closed with a feast. Despite being hunted in abundance, they are not a rare or endangered species, and aside from making their homes in deep forests, can still be found on their outer edges and occasionally in the fields and meadows of Kildra and Roadalia.

Wildlife - Name: Kildran Forest Bear
Name: Kildran Forest Bear
(Profile written by Kayso Kayso )

Description: the Kildran Forest Bear is one of the more dangerous creatures of the Old Kingdom, making its home in dense forests and rocky valleys, most often near water sources and shaded cover. They hibernate for seven months out of the year, while the other five are spent mating and eating: both of which are dangerous activities for humans to witness.

Kildranforestbear1.jpg

After giving birth to cubs, the male and female parents engage in a deadly power struggle to see which parent will raise the children. The parent who is killed serves as the cubs’ first meal, and instills in them a bloody instinct for flesh and a taste for cannibalism. If ever the successful parent is killed by some other bear, its children, knowing the smell of family, will track down the killer and either challenge it or mate with it.

Kildranforestbear.jpg

History: To kill a Kildran forest bear is no simple feat, and many avid hunters claim the action as their crowning glory. Not many attempt the challenge, however. The violent temperament and easily-provokable nature of the bear keep even the most adventurous thrill-seekers at bay, and it is often the stupid who go seeking such a trophy. It is said, however, that the ancient people required young men coming of age to slay a bear as a rite of passage, but it is not known how long that ceremony lasted. Prince Unger II had the head of a Kildran forest bear mounted on the wall of his study, but it is not known if he was the hunter or not.

Religion
Religion of Azae

Five Ways To Peace

I. Trust Azae to be the one true god.

II. Trust in your family as they trust in you.

III. Kill not.

IV. Steal not.

V. All are sons and daughters of Azae

The words of Azae, as inscribed upon the side of possibly Mount Zalur marking the creation of time.

Time has since eroded the commands upon the mountain away, but recordings still remain. The many sects all agree that the Five Ways were once written on the side of the mountain, though which mountain is disputed. Some say that it is now naught but a hill.

There are a multitude of sects. Many of them follow the teachings of the first prophet. The first prophet spoke of the rebirth of all life. S/he said that all lifeforms make up the soul of Azae. Most version of the religion differ only by which prophets they believe.

There are two extreme sects, though they are are not the most popular. One believes that Azae, the spirit of the planet, is a male being that communes with other other forces beyond the world. The second extreme sect believe none of the prophets. They think the words on the mountain are the only truth. They do not think of an afterlife saying that one must only live in the present and seek peace.

Followers of Saran Melander

The Followers believe that Saran was the first person to walk the earth. The Followers are split into two philosophies. One, the Church of the Mother, believe Saran Melander to be a woman, and thus, so was Azae a Goddess who created her in her likeness. The Church of the Father believe Saran was a man created by the male depicted God of Azae. Early in the history of the religion many people did not care about this distinction and worshiped both sides of the holy legend. Ideally the two churches decided on one high priest. In the past, there have been times where two priest vied for control of the religion. This was until Roadalia adopted the Church of the Mother as their official religion, and almost all followers of that sect decided to make the permanent move from Kildra. The Church of the Mother eventually fell out of favor with the people of Kildra over the decades as it became entangled in the government and culture of Roadalia.

Church of the Mother

The Church of the Mother believes that Saran Melender is reborn each generation. It is said that in the first five hundred years of time Saran ruled all the land through many different lives. At last, when she had taught all she could and completed the Book of Azae she disappeared. Some believe that she ascended the cycle of time, but most think she still lives, stepping in to intervene only when needed. They believe that Couswa Serda, the Second Prophet wrote the Book of Azae.

  • A reading from the Church of the Mother's Book of Azae

"Saran Melander was the first woman. She was born from the holy mountain on which the Five Ways to Peace were inscribed. She entered the world full grown and with understanding of all creatures. After Saran came so did many more, but none with wisdom and knowledge as pure as the first mother’s. Through her complete understanding of Azae’s form, Saran taught the first people much about the world. She tells that by following the Ways to find peace will lead us to an understanding of Azae’s will and plan. In Saran’s enlightenment, she saw that our souls are destined to be reborn. Through meditation and by following the Ways we can learn to understand Azae’s plan and thereby secure a more meaningful role in the lives to come."

Church of the Father
The Church of the Father believe that Melander was an immortal being that ruled for the first thousand years of time. His kingdom was vast and beautiful, expanding the entire world. However, one thousand years of peace bred envy in the hearts of many. Weak men, who had not not meditated deeply enough upon Azae, betrayed Melander and declared war upon his works. After many wars, Melander at last allowed himself to be slain in battle so that the fighting might end. Their holy scripture is the original Book of Azae, as put down by Arlin Adrian, descendant of Onta the Large.

Arlin had claimed that Onta had remembered the life of Saran Melander. Arlin rewrote the Book of Azae Onta had started to include more specific depictions of Saran and the God of Azae. This became the basis for the Church of the Father's Book of Azae.

  • A reading from the Church of the Father's Book of Azae

"Saran Melander was the first man. He was born from the holy mountain on which the Five Ways to Peace were inscribed. He entered the world with a power over all creatures. After Saan came many more, but none with such wisdom and strength as Melander. Through his complete control over the magics of Azae Melander created the first kingdom of men. To all his people he taught that following the Ways of Peace will lead them to an understanding of Azae’s will and plan. In Melander’s enlightenment, he saw that all souls would be reborn. His soul was so pure that Melander transcended mortal flesh and became lived for 1000 years."

Brethren of the Mountain

The Brethren of the Mountain believe only in the words of the mountain. They claim to remember past lives that had gazed upon the mountain where the Five Ways to Peace had been written. The Brethren believe in many saints, but do not hold Saran Melander is such high esteem, and some do not believe in the legend at all. They believe that history has made a legend of Saran that bare no real truth. The brethren have their own book of Azae that was written over many years by many saints. The book consists of each saint recording their past memories. Though it is long, much of it is the same.

The Brethren is a led by the Leader of the Mountain. The Lead is chosen each generation by determining who has the best memory of their past lives.

  • A reading from the Brethren of the Mountain's Book of Azae:

"The words of the mountain are the only truth. Azae, the perfect being, gave us life and gave us the earth, which is Azae's holy body. At the dawn of time Azae inscribed upon a mountain the Five Ways to Peace. By following these ways harmony is found. Though in Azae's benevolence a great many pleasures can be found on earth, none are so fulfilling as embracing the words of Azae. By meditating upon those holy words one may touch the spirit of the world and bask in its unending power and bliss."

The Way of Sin & Discourse
The Way of Sin & Discourse is a cultural phenomenon that all people of Azae experience. Many Followers of Saran Meander hold the fear that peace and perfection is unattainable. Those who have strayed far enough away from the faith run the risk of losing their soul completely. There is a legend that the end of time will come when all have strayed from the Ways.

Inner Circle of Sin & Discourse
There is an inner circle of the Way of Discourse that is very secretive. Debate rages on on whether or not they even exist. It is said that they make decisions within the church that surpass that of the High Priest. They claim to have recorded all the transgression against the Way of Peace since the beginning of time.

Warriors of Stone
A fabled and secret religious army in Kildra that is supposedly led by the Inner Circle of Discourse, the High Priest, and the Leader of the Mountain. It is employed only to defend the faith.

Non-Believer (Atheist) Scholars
There are many scholars that study the religion of Azae in hopes to find information about ancient nomadic tribes. Some believe that the religion of Azae has developed out of multiple tribal rituals.
