Kane was satisfied when Lucy agreed to stay away and when she indicated where she was going to hide out, he nodded his head. "Be patient," he told her, not wanting her to worry too much and step back out into view. He then walked towards the Ferris Wheel but stopped a distance away, observing his surroundings. Most people seemed to have left the area, either fleeing the pier altogether or wanting to stare at whatever that explosion was. He hadn't realised there had also been a shooting nearby, but that wasn't his priority right now. Despite people being distracted, he still pulled his scarf up over his face, leaving only his eyes uncovered so he could see what he was doing.
After going around a few times, the Ferris Wheel came back to the beginning once again and Vinnie's goon signalled for the ride operator to stop the wheel. Having already paid the worker for his cooperation, he didn't need to thank him again. "We're going to get off this ride now and go for a boat ride," he said, pointing further down the pier, beyond the funhouse. The pier was much quieter than usual, with the visitors occupied by the other commotion. "We're going to walk natural and not draw any attention to us. You're smart enough to know if you put one footstep out of place your girlfriend dies. If anything happens to me, she also dies."
"I get it, just shut the fuck up will you?" James replied, his voice filled with irritation. He got off the ride and waited for the Italian so they could walk side by side. "You really should just avoid wasting time and take me straight to Vinnie," James suggested as the pair walked past the front of the funhouse. They veered off towards the steps which would lead to the jetty where the boat was docked. The Italian's attention was suddenly drawn to the car parked nearby, which was supposed to be gone by now, with Lucy inside. Just as he reached for his gun, the sound of a close gunshot was heard, causing James to stumble away to one side. He was surprised to realise the Italian had been shot in the back of the head. James looked over his shoulder to see the large figure of Kane approaching and he dodged out of the man's path. He watched on as Kane grabbed the Italian and hauled his limp body over the side of the pier into the lake.
"Who the Hell are you?!" James asked, his tone a mix of relief and suspicion.
"The man who just saved your ass. Follow me...." Kane simply said. As he walked towards the back of the funhouse, he pulled the scarf down from over his face. Without a word, he opened the door and signalled to Lucy that it was safe to come out. She would see James cautiously following behind Kane...
