Welcome to Lethe.
If you're here on Lethe, you either volunteered to move here or were forced to. We don't envy you. This moon is primarily having its guts mined out by the three great empires of the Kentaurus Spiral, and you're forced to play nice (by the Galactic Preservation Conglomerate) with people that hate you for even existing. Its for a good reason, of course. Nobody wants this Great Galactic Cold War to turn into a Hot one.
That may just happen anyway, depending on how things go following your arrival at the Reception Terminal.
Deep below the surface, in a mining shaft known as the Gamma-37 tunnel, a grand incident has occurred. Explosives detonated underground nearby caused a total collapse of Gamma-37, resulting in hundreds of casualties among the miners, and fingers are being pointed. The Galactic Preservation Conglomerate, currently investigating the matter, has come up with the source of the explosions: a now collapsed cavern and tunnel system several kilometers away. This other tunnel wasn't supposed to exist, and so far, no one in either of the three colonies on Lethe knows who made it and why. Tensions are growing, as pressure is put on the GPC by the three great empires to figure out who caused this and why.
In the days following the incident, people have begun appearing in clinics and hospital wards of the colonies. Complaints are mounting of lack of sleep, and intense vivid nightmares when they do eventually collapse from exhaustion. Medication and therapy isn't helping. This is turning into a real mess, and people are racking their brains trying to figure out the best course of action.
Your job? Figure things out, and solve the problem. Quickly. Your life, and countless others, will depend on it.
What is 'The Neutral Zone'?
The Neutral Zone is a Character RP set in a cassette futurism-inspired far future, in a distant galaxy known as the Kentaurus Spiral. This RP takes place on the moon Lethe, orbiting Hades in the Aidoneus System deep within a neutral area of space known as the Neutral Zone. This space stretches through the galaxy, its tentacles forming the borders of the three massive galactic empires that dominate the way of things. These three empires are known as the Commonwealth of Free Worlds, the Union of Xistrovian Socialist Systems, and the Kamoran Imperium. There's bad blood between these three empires, and they are currently in the middle of a long cold war referred to as simply the Great Galactic Cold War. Keeping the peace between them is a UN-esque group known as the Galactic Preservation Conglomerate, which is made up of like minded individuals from each of the three great empires.
The players hail from one of these great empires, with diverse backgrounds and outlooks on life based off their experiences living under each of these regimes. They venture to Lethe, either volunteering their services to the GPC, or are sent there as representatives of their faction in an effort to assist in preventing further disaster from occuring.
Whether that happens or not depends on you and your fellow players, in addition to powers beyond comprehension.
Certain actions and combat will be dealt with using dice, but since this primarily a narrative driven RP, you shouldn't expect too many dice rolls to occur.
What can I play as?
Players may choose to be a Human, or what is known a Synth. Synths are a type of mass-produced 'wet-tech' android made by the three different empires of the Kentaurus Spiral. These androids are made to look, sound, and naturally behave like a normal human in order for them to blend into human society easier than a typical robot. Your choice of race will affect how things progress in the story for your character. Human players will have certain doors open to them that Synths will not, and vice versa.
Your character must be an adult from one of the three major empires and must be either Human or Synth, but you have free range when it comes to background, gender identity, orientation, and so on. Your character can be a member of the GPC as well, but you will still have to choose an origin empire. You may also customize the world your character hails from inside their faction as well. Garden worlds, factory worlds, fortress worlds, its all up to you. Anything to help build your character's history and background into what you want it to be.
For gameplay reasons, you may (at the moment) only have one character at a time. If you wish to replace your character, you can discuss it with me, and we'll work something out.
I am currently accepting at least three people. The maximum limit is six.
