The Maw has emerged in the sky above Espya and has chosen a powerful sorcerer to harald its consumption of Espya and subsequent worlds! But a powerful council of 6, known as the Pillars of Light have pleaded with the Universe itself to right this wrong and help bring back balance. The Universe answered by reaching through time and space, plucking 6 seemingly average individuals to be thrust into a world not of their own to help stop it from being consumed by the Maw, possibly saving their own in the process. With the help of the Pillars, citizens of Espya, possibly the Universe itself and of course each other, these 6 champions will journey through this grand quest and hopefully save countless lives.

-Super high fantasy mixing a blend of elements from LotR, final fantasy, and even comic book heroes

-Flexible commitment but at least once a week posting is required. Life happens.

Name: Rama Santoso-Evans

Age: 23

Appearance: A young man of Indonesian descent, Rama stands at a mere 5' 7" with a slightly lean, average body weighing in at 182lbs. He has short cropped hair for the simplicity upkeep and almost no facial hair. His amber eyes compliment his lighter, walnut toned skin. His face still holds a boyish charm that shows the hints of manhood through his jaw and browlines.

Personality: Rama is a gentle person who has seen more sides of life than most but has developed a greater appreciation for it. Although he spent the majority of his life with loving foster parents he still harbors a great hatred for the men who killed his real father and any like them. He repressed that hatred through diligent studying throughout high school learning what he could about massage therapy, hoping that one day he could help others manage the stress in their lives through therapeutic methods of acupressure and massage. He has strong beliefs on standing for the right cause even if you're weak and doesn't hesitate to help anyone in need.

Espya Equipment: Seven Star Staff. Lightly studded monk robes. Moonstone studs sewn into the handwraps, elbows, knees and shoes.

Abilities/Skills:
1) Kinetic Conversion & Acceleration: through touch Rama can tap into the potential kinetic energy of an object and accelerating it to the point of being volatile enough to explode on contact. (Note: At this point he can only hold a charge in an object for a moment before the energy dissipates or explodes in his hand. At such a low charge time the explosions from charged objects are about the equivalent to a solid jab.) He mainly utilizes this ability when using his staff or hand-to-hand combat.

2) Silat and Bo-Staff: Although mediocre in his rudimentary knowledge of the martial art passed down from his father, the Transition and the help of Abbot Lo' Ardith of the Sky Temple Monestary will improve his understanding of it, expanding his skillset and learning rare Seven Star Staff style.

Background: Rama was born as the son of a fish merchant on the small island of Brunei. He loved his father as he was all Rama had ever known. His mother died in childbirth and the majority of his other family had moved away or died themselves. Rama and his father spent their time fishing for money during the day and practicing Silat at night. Rama cherished these days and nights with his father. He fancied himself getting his own fishing boat, big enough to take out into the ocean and coming back with a haul that could let his dad retire. At the age of 12 however; his father was in a bad way with the harbor gang boss. Rama could only watch in horror hidden by fishing crates as they tormented, mutilated, and beat his father to death. While his father put up a good fight, using his father's karambit knife, ultimately it didn't matter. Their numbers were many and he lay bloodied and broken on the dock. When the gangsters finally left Rama rushed to his father lost in a mindstorm of confusion, anger and sorrow. With his dying breath, Rama's father handed him the blade and said, "Make a better life for you than I did, my son." Rama took the blade and held it close to his heart, not feeling its razor edge biting into his clutching palm.

Days went by and Rama tried to continue his father's work on the docks. But he was too young, not strong enough to haul the nets in from the dinghy. On the fourth day he saw the harbor gang boss with his cronies parading down the boardwalk. The anger inside Rama boiled and in a blind rage he rushed the gangsters. Slipping past the first body guard he lept for the boss's throat, father's knife in hand. He didn't even see the bat that intercepted him. He came too shortly after understanding two things; he was on the ground and his whole body hurt, especially his chest. Rama managed to open one hateful eye and began to lift the blade once more. But the boss merely smirked and took the metal bat from his lackey. Without a word he brought it down hard on the knife and snapped it right out of Rama's hand, save for the ring of the knife still around Rama's finger. When the bat rose again for the killing blow, whistles and shouting from the crowd erupted. The gang sneered as they fled the scene. An American missionary couple ran up to aid Rama.

After some time spent in the local hospital, Rama came to know his rescuers as the Evans family. A young couple from Wisconsin that came on a missionary trip that toured Indonesia and Malaysian islands. When they found out about what happened to Rama's father and that he had no other family to speak of, they adopted him. He spent his first few years with them finishing their missionary trip, learning English and of God. They began to fill the hole that his father left and he quickly grew to love them. When Rama was 15 they went back to America and he began living a typical American teenage life. He graduated high school despite his late entry and began attending community college delving into massage therapy. On the night of his 23rd birthday, Rama's life would take another drastic turn. While traveling home with his parents from a celebratory dinner, a flash of bright light caused his dad to lose control of the car, slamming into the guardrail and flipping it end over end. With his whole world spiraling before his eye, Rama clenched awaiting the inevitable sudden nothingness of death but the light was constant and even grew brighter until it was all he knew.

Appearance:
A young woman standing at an average height of 5'5", weighing about 143 pounds. Aurelia has an hourglass figure, with very little upper body muscle definition, while her legs are a little stronger. She has pale skin, being a fullblodded Icelandic native, paired with dark hair and ocean blue eyes. She has a delicate aura about her, though maybe it isn't in your best interest to beleive she's a little flower.

Personality:
A somewht quiet, outspoken lady when you first encounter her, Aurelia is typically in the background. She doesn't like to talk much, nor does she enjoy a lot of social interaction when she's around strangers, she can seem like a bit of an awkward girl. But, as you get closer to her, you learn that's just a facade so she can observe situations and the people involved before deciding if she wants to try getting to know. In reality, she's a fair kind and caring young woman with a bit of a mean streak. She's blunt, and can sometimes come off as unnecessarily rude, but she really does care about her friends and family. Even if she has weird ways of showing it. Aurelia has her own emotional hangup and insecurities, and you may over look this, but hey, what matters is that over all, Aurelia is someone you want on your side.

Espya Equipment:
- Aurelia has been gifted a simple set of lightweight armor. The upper body is made of maroon cloth, which hugs Aurelia's body closely. On her back, a simple leather quiver and bow holster. Her arms are bare except for leather braces, which are dark brown. Her pants match her braces in color, and while looser than her shirt as to not constrict her movement, they are still fairly tight (much like joggers). Around her waist is a belt with a few different pouches attached to it, as well as her swords holster. As for her shoes, they are simple knee high boots. All of these items are fire proof, for obvious reasons. Nobody wants to fight naked.
- As for weapons, Aurelia was given a short sword and an extremely rare bow known as the Sun Splitter. She was given 30 arrows, through her quiver can hold almost double that. Both her sword and arrows can be set on fire and suffer any damage.
Abilities/Skills:
- Powers: Aurelia is able to create and manipulate fire. A rather simple power in concept, it's one that will prove difficult to get a handle of. First off, her natural body temperature has increased from a normal 98.6 to 110.5, which in turn gives her a natural boost in both cold and heat resistance. Starting off though, she can only create small flames in the palms of her hands, and somewhat manipulate flames she did not create. Once she gets a better handle on her new powers, there is a second teir, lighting. As it deals with heat, she will be able to not only generate it, but she will be able to redirect natural lighting. However, it could kill her so she's gonna have to be careful. Anyway, in order to do any of this, it requires her own energy, which means she's got to eat properly and sleep well everyday, or else's she's gonna be miserable. And until her body gets use to her new powers, if Aurelia is not careful, she could end up burning herself.
- Skills: The art is Swordplay and Archery are both something Aurelia only ever used in video games and in like, two competitions when she was younger, Aurelia will be guides by a mysterious man who while he trains her, where she eventually becomes a master at both, his style is rather unorthodox, but it in turn makes Aurelia an unpredictable combatant. She will also pick up a few minor skills like lock picking and the art of stealth, as well as dropping her native language to better suit the Elvish tounge.

Background:
Born in a sleepy small town in Iceland, and only child of two rather unstable parents. She was taken care of a baby, enough at least because her parents both worked and so she spent most of her time, not that she remembers, with her grandmother. When she was about four, her mother was out in the hospital, and after her recovery, became a stay at home mom who received a disability check. This didn't change the way she was being raised though, she wasn't given much attention nor was she given the proper care a small child needs.

That's pretty much how she was raised. Toxic parents and a pretty shit situation, she never did to well in school, mostly Cs and Bs, and she never had any close friends. Her only salvation was videos games. Her grandmother was doing her best to take care of Aurelia, even if by now she wasn't allowed to see her grandchild, she did what she could. And if sending Aurelia games and small gifts along those lines where what kept her grandchild happy, she would do what she could.

At the age of 13, Aurelia was sent to the hospital with a broken collar bone, five different fractures, andneeding 30 stitches. After an investigation, Aurelia's parents were arrested, and she was sent to live with her grandmother. Her grades almost any rocketed, she made a few friends, and she still got to do the few things she loved to with the love she got to experience all over again.

The next few years went like this. She was enjoying life, doing much better than how she was doing. Her grandmother had passed on when after she turned 18, causing another turn for the worse, but Aurelia managed to graduate highschool, and start living on her own. One day, on the way to work, she was passing by a frozen pond when she heard screaming. She of course headed over, one kid was on the bank while the other was out on cracking ice. She of course just couldn't stay on the side line, so she went out on the ice to get the kid off. And she did, but the ice broke underneath her, she actually managed to grow the kid to the thicker ice as before she sunk below the ice. The world went dark pretty quickly, muffled sounds and never-ending cold. Before long, she was surrounded by a bright light, unsure of what was gonna happen next.

Appearance:
Michael is a tall, mixed individual standing at around six foot and five inches, with broad shoulders, a thick neck, and a lithe muscular physique with both of his legs missing just above the knee. He has a close cropped beard framing his somewhat circular face and a short fade for hair. Most would say that he had a kind face, partly due to the smile that's almost always on his lips.

Personality:
Michael is considered by those he meets as a kind and respectful young man, in part because of his soft spoken mannerisms and the way he always gets straight to the point. He's not very fond of idle conversations, mostly keeping to himself when he can, and giving brusque and short responses when prompted. However, he's far more open towards those he considers his close friends, even willing to go into a joking mood with them and being far more loose around them. He's also a very collected individual, always trying to force himself to stay calm in tense situations despite his nature to get angry quickly, and it's because of that that he believes he's not ready for a leadership role, and instead sees himself as a sort of weapon to be pointed towards a target. At least, before his accident.

Body Manipulation: Michael, at the moment, can only manipulate his body to a certain extent. Regrowing limbs is still a very slow process and he has yet to master the art of growing extra appendages. He can however harden parts of his body, force superficial wounds to close, and can minimally alter the total mass of his body.


Background:
Michael was born in Canada as the second child to two investment bankers. His elder sister taking on the role of mother for him due to his parents constantly being busy at work; despite that, however, his childhood was average. He was of average intelligence in school, somewhat dedicated, but it was in sports and atheletics that he truly shined. From the very beginning he had a fondness for wrestling and joined the wrestling team in his junior year of high school, eventually becoming the captain of the wrestling team in his senior year.

Once he graduated, various options were presented to him in the form of various universities, but because wrestling wasn't that big of a sport at the time, not many scholarship opportunities came his way. As he was contemplating on where to go, he was approached by a recruiter and that is when his military career began. After basic training he was placed into Special Forces and put into a specific unit that dealt with high level targets.

This went on for several years, garnering life-long friends while in service and eventually at age of 26 he decided to retire from the military, settle down with a family and go into a civilian career. Before his final discharge however, he was sent off into a mission to eliminate several high risk targets and it was during that mission than an RPG blew off one of his legs, the other torn to shreds and was eventually cut off back at the base. He was immediately sent back home and spent the rest of the year in recovery and rehabilitation as he tried to get his life back together.

Eventually he was offered a job at a private security firm where one of his friends worked, and on the way there, while crossing the street, one of his prosthetic legs broke under his weight and the last thing he saw was a bus heading right towards him. Except, instead of death, as he was expecting, the darkness around him shifted and opened into a vastly different world.
 
Name: Brandon White
Age: 13
Appearance: mildly overweight and quite out of shape, this young boy is far from the makings of a hero. He was short even for his age, and he had been the target of much bullying before he attended college. Despite that, he has a rather cunning look in his eyes and has the bearing of someone who knows what to do with his life. His curly red hair is rarely ever combed, and he is often seen with some form of sunburns.

Personality: He is used to the comforts of modern society. It is rare to see him without his face in some electronic device, even in university courses. He is quite smart, on his last semester for his doctorate at the age of 13, a feet that had not been achieved since the 1800's. As far as he was concerned, his life had been laid out before him. A few more classes and he would have his coveted doctorate at such a young age, and he would be known throughout history ever since... until he had been dropped into this strange world. The situation has soured his disposition somewhat, showing his age.

Background: Brandon had been a mild celebrity his whole life. Gifted with a brilliant mind, he has been in scientific magazines and has written scholarly articles that have shaped the conversation in science for years. Born to a poor family, his patents had pulled them from poverty to being multi millionaires. He had been on late night talk shows and meetings at the Pentagon. By all accounts he was in the path to become a famous genius in the vain of Elon Musk or Richard Branson, at a fraction of their age.

It didn't matter that he was fairly out of shape, or couldn't do a pushup to save his life, or was gaining weight to the point that TMZ was making fun of him. As long as he stayed the course, weeks away from getting his doctorate in record time, he would be known for ages as one of the most brilliant influential people in the world. He would set records.

That all changed when he was sucked into this fantasy world. Everything Brandon had been fighting to gain, his wealth, his fame, his doctorate, all went up in smoke as he was wrenched from the world he knew and was put into this dangerous, alien setting.

Powers:

Ki Control (limited): due to his completely out of shape body and overactive mind, much of his power and what he can do is out of his reach without much training. At the moment he is very durable and can lift one ton, however his inexperience with fighting and his apprehension towards it makes this not as effective as it could be. With formal training, other abilities will be available to him. However his mind and body will need to be greatly trained before then.

Drawbacks:

Fear of fighting: Brandon has never been in a fight, and doesnt think himself capable of it.

Hatred of his powers: Of all the powers his brilliant mind could have gotten, it was one that required her to still his calculating mind to use properly, and it was far too brutish and physical for his liking.

Aversion to discomfort: Is used to being inundated with technology and comfy air conditioned homes with people doting on him for his intellect. Powers that require the training and discipline of a monk is his nightmare made real.

Shortness of breath: Due to how out of shape he is, he can get out of breath easily. He can do more than he could before he got his powers, but he is still rather ineffective.

Out of shape: his body has not been accustomed to any variety of labor or even a PE class. His brains had got him out of all that. Until he trains himself to be physically fit, this will dampen his abilities.

Overactive mind: Though this is an amazing ability for his intellectual pursuits, it dampens his powers even more than his physical atrophy. Until he can calm his mind and empty his thoughts at will, the lion share of his powers will be locked from him.

No combat experience: He hasn't a clue how to throw a punch. He has never been in a fight. Nor does he particularly want to be.

Terrible vision: He requires glasses (for now)

Personal affects: Thick Glasses, his clothes. A scientific magazine with his face on the cover

  • 1538114766179.pngAmber frowned, setting down the last card. She sat in a protective circle, blocking any evil spirits from entering her thoughts while she learned. Her father sat outside the circle, watching her. He waited patiently, cross legged and eyes closed. Finally, Amber looked up and said, "Da, I think the cards aren't working today."
    "The cards aren't the ones who aren't working," her father intoned. "Take a breath, clear your mind."
    "I did."
    "Clear it harder, then," her father chuckled. "Don't worry, my little miracle. You'll get it eventually."


    Personality: Amber is calm and gentle, and her da jokes that she was given the last name of "Tempest" because the universe wanted to have a laugh. She prefers to watch from the background, and meditate on a situation before acting or speaking. This sometimes works against her, as louder more rambunctious people will jump in before she can speak. Once they do, she's polite and won't interrupt them. She uses as few words as possible, and prefers to show people rather than explain through words.

Race: Pixie
Appearance: A dainty little thing only 6 inches tall, with a pair of delicate, somewhat crystal clear butterfly wings, Data isn't much to look at. Her firery red hair, and brilliant green eyes are hardly seen by mortals. Most only see her a little ball of light, or perhaps a bug. Only a select few with open minds can truly see her for what she is.

Profession: Guardian: Dara will occasionally pick groups of travellers to venture with for a short while, or maybe she will go out to help some poor soul, but the true nature of her job is to serve the Pillars. They will assign her to do some of their bidding, and she must guard whoever she is traveling with. All while taking note to report back.

Personality: A curious little creature who is more than what meets the eyes. She's sweet, and caring, with a bell like voice that you will dread to hear if you've angered her. She holds grudges, even against small slights, and can sometimes be completely uncooperative. It really just kinda depends on who she's interacting with. Also, pranks. Picked are known to be michevious little pest, and it certainly didn't skip over Dara.

Equipment: Nothin

Abilities/skills: Plant Magic: A powerful magic that's limited to a very select few bloodlines of her kin, Dara is able to make plants grow, shrink, act as if they have a mind of their own, and she can even attack with it. She was actually seen as almost two powerful, as most picked only have weak connections to natural magic power, unlike Dara, her plant magic is actually rather average.
Grow: Dara can manipulate the size of her body and whatever is currently on it. She can only make herself around 4'7" to 4'10", and her clothes typically always fit. She cannot fly in this form, however you can still see her wings since they grew with her. Her body is simply to heavy for them to carry. She can also only retain this form for about 15-30 minutes, depending on the circumstances.

Name: Ravey
Race: Half Goblin
Appearance: Ravey is the fiery tempered half Goblin apprentice to one of the Tutors. Though she has a small thin body, she should not be underestimated. She is known to have a temper as red hot as the hair on her head, and it doesnt take much to cause her to wail on you. Goblins and Orcs face much discrimination, as their are pervasive claims that the two races were birthed from the Maw itself. Half breeds like herself are especially disliked, and many question why she is allowed to train under a Tutor. She is a year older than Brandon.

Equipment: Training gear. Her Goblin Great sword

Powers: Ravey has the same power as Brandon. Though she has far more training with the power than he does, she doesnt have the same potential he has. She also has the lion share of her power blocked similar to Brandon, but hers is held back by her untamed emotional state, while his is from his hyperactive mind.

Background: Ravey has known hatred and discrimination against her her whole life. Her strange strength was enough to keep her from getting killed on the streets as a kid. She didn't know why she could take more punishment and fight harder than other urchins, but she didn't care. After she had tried to steal from The Tutor and was soundly defeated, The Tutor took kindness on her and took her under their wing as an apprentice. She took to the martial training like a duck to water, but there came a point where she could progress no further. Her emotions were in the way. The tutor has plans for this. A new form of training. Having her take an apprentice herself, in the form of the kind of person that could easily piss her off. Brandon White.
